Waxing instead of shaving (will also make you be smooth for longer and overtime reduce the frequency the hair grows in and make them weaker since you'll be taking the root out instead of slicing the hair like when shaving) Bathing (which instead of showering will loosen and get rid of the dead skin to exfoliate) Regular exfoliation (either physical or chemical, if you use physical, like with a exfoliating wash cloth, you can do it while bathing or showering) Hydrate and moisturize the skin with stuff like coconut oil or body lotion after bathing/showering and exfoliating (so that the skin will be smooth and soft and there won't be that layer of dead skin which it's the thing mainly causing ingrown hair)
Just want to bring awareness to something called trichotillomania. It’s a BFRB (body focused repetitive behavior) and it’s the intense urge to pull hair out. I’ve struggled with it very intensely for over a year and I do not have any eyelashes due to it. A lot of people don’t know about how much BFRB’s effect people! Over 50% of the population experience a BFRB sometime throughout their lifetime. It’s A very overlooked issue out in the world that effects so many people. Some people have BFRB habits stronger than others, and those who have it intense like I do can have a lot of issues and stress due to it. Just wanted to maybe raise some awareness:)
Its just from everyday stress or mismanaged stress. Most people tend to forget about it and focus on something else after a while at least with all the people I’ve known who had it. I even had it and when I had no hair left I’d focus on popping black heads and whatnot obsessively or other parts of my body until stress would subside.
I started pulling out my eyebrows and eyelashes when I was 10. It took them a year to grow back fully. It really helped me when I got a fidget necklace and started having healthier habits like twirling my hair.
What I suggest is that when you have an area where that happens, don’t shave that area. Use something that leaves the hair a little bit longer, so the hair won’t be completely covered with the skin

How can we prevent ingrown hair?
Is it possible?
Yes it is actually
Shave in the right direction that is towards tha way your hair grows and scrub after shaving..
Waxing instead of shaving (will also make you be smooth for longer and overtime reduce the frequency the hair grows in and make them weaker since you'll be taking the root out instead of slicing the hair like when shaving)
Bathing (which instead of showering will loosen and get rid of the dead skin to exfoliate)
Regular exfoliation (either physical or chemical, if you use physical, like with a exfoliating wash cloth, you can do it while bathing or showering)
Hydrate and moisturize the skin with stuff like coconut oil or body lotion after bathing/showering and exfoliating (so that the skin will be smooth and soft and there won't be that layer of dead skin which it's the thing mainly causing ingrown hair)
