I got an ugly earwig, about 3/4" long, in my ear when I was about 6 years old. It crawled into my ear while I was sleeping overnight in a sleeping bag in the front yard. My siblings and I thought it would be fun to camp in the front yard overnight. It really freaked me out. It was so loud, and it felt like I had a butterfly flapping around in my head. Fortunately, my mom was able to get it out with a bobby pin. I'm 59 now, and I still remember that whenever I go camping somewhere. Apparently, that is how the earwig got its name... because of a widespread ancient superstition that earwigs crawl into the ears of sleeping people.

My great grandfather had a hard shell bettle bug crawl in his ear one night. My grandmother (his daughter) said he was beating his head against the walls and the floor. He went to the local town doctor the next morning and the doctor pulled it out, it had clawed his eardrum to bits. Videos like this give me the creeps on many levels!
Thank you for adding another bug to my ear freak out! I had a tiny mosquito in my ear. I could believe how loud it was. I managed to kill it. 4 days later I could feel the clicking. I syringe my ear. Little thing came out. I've suffered from vertigo ever since. That Sept 18
Superstition? It happened to you 😮
@@dennisnickoloff1723 If you google it online, most references will say that it was a widely held ancient superstition, but there is no truth to it. I beg to differ.
Doesn’t sound like a superstition since it happened to you
@@christineferguson788perhaps try the Eply maneuver and/or the relief band. I wonder if, by using water to syringe it out of your ear, you got water somewhere it shouldn’t be. I hope you’re able to get to go to the doctor to get that looked at. I’ve had vertigo a few times. I know it’s terrible
I would have freaked out if I was in her shoes; this is a fear of mine that something would crawl into my ears.
Crabs like to get into tiny holes in the sand. Apparently it got confused.
To look into someone’s ear canal: stand slightly behind them, grab their ear and pull it backwards towards you. This will pull the opening of the ear in front of their ear canal. Then you can shine a light and look inside. Hope this helps someone
Hopefully in doing so you won't see through to the other side LOL 🤣
Just when you thought you get crabs between the legs, you got it in your ear 😂
I felt so bad for the patients who came in the ER screaming and carrying on, they had a bug in their ear. This seemed to happen often in Florida!
