Yes it was awesome and super educational! Even my dumbass could learn. I think I’m gunna invest in good electric razors, my chin and under neck are the worst!!!!
This is a great video! What a lot of stylist and barbers are missing from their videos is the science behind it all. That you for including the science and formula. Keep'em coming dear.
Switching from those disposable multiblade razors to a old school safety razor did wonders for me. not to mention the savings on blades. Looks like he's handy with that straight razor. That likely gives him a great shave. Great advise here all around.
@@codename5773 Find something that works for you. I used to use face washes that had a little graininess to them in order to slough off the dead skin and lift ingrown hair. You can also use a face wash with a chemical exfoliant (For example, salicylic, glycolic, BHA). Some people can get irritated using the grainier washes. Hope that helps.
Been using Skin Tight for years. It's legit. Also, I think black men should consider shaving with a safety razor. I switched to one last year and I'll never go back to cartridge razors. It feels much better on the skin and its way cheaper.
I have used a safety razor and I still get bumps. That’s one of the things that made me just grow out my beard which looks fairly better in my opinion than shaved. I just don’t think I was meant to shave. I still do it from time to see what’s underneath but it becomes a problem if I have to shave all the time
100%facts. I've stopped using regular multi blade razors due to having bad razor bumps. Bought a safety razor from dollar tree and noticed my bumps started to go away. I liked them so much that I ended up buying a legitimate safety razor. 1 note people, be careful. The safety razor us very sharp. If you have bumps, they will bleed
I’m not a jiggly black man but yes stuff like razor irritation, skidding and ingrown hair have been a foreign concept to me for the longest time courtesy of the might double edge razor, feels good man
Best razor bump breakdown I ever seen. Helpful for those who struggle with these, so glad I took care of this issue years ago and very seldomly get them now.
@@danielalcantar8047 the main thing I did was stopped using razors. Getting a skin close shave creates a huge issue with razor bumps for people with coarse or thick curly hair. Use a trimmer and cut with the grain of your hair. Before and after you cut exfoliate your skin this way it can lift any existing trapped hairs and create a better environment to be cut. After you shave apply alcohol or witch hazel if alcohol is too strong for you. Finally moisturize with a non comedogenic moisturizer so it won’t clog your pores.
@@danielalcantar8047 and if you do already have infected bumps don’t try to tweez or pop, apply peroxide as much as possible to dry it out and let time pass it will heal on its own. Trying to tweeze and squeeze will just create more issues/scarring
@@danielalcantar8047 so basically you need to cut your facial hair and neck with trimmers. Cut with the grain of how your hair grows. This won’t be a skin close shave how razors would provide however skin close shaving is what causes the bumps in the first place. Before and after you trim clean and exfoliate to lift any current trapped hairs. After use alcohol if you have sensitive skin use witch hazel. Now if you already have ingrown hairs/infected bumps don’t try to tweeze them out. Just keep the area clean and use alcohol or peroxide to dry out the bump and use an exfoliant to shed the dead skin. Let time take its course trying to mess with it just makes it worse leading to more infection and or scarring.
I shave with a single blade razor. After I shower in hot water to open my pores, I apply shaving oil to my face and neck, then I apply shaving lotion. I use a fresh blade every time. The blade glides smoothly over my face. Afterwards, I use a cold towel on my face to tighten my pores, and apply cooling aftershave lotion. I used a popular black owned shaving produce. I shave every other day to prevent skin irritation.
That product he put at the end is the truth. I’ve been using skin tight for 4-5 years and trust me I notice when I don’t have them or when they run out
Saw this short last month. Years of burns ended in one 20 second video. Part of it was shaving against the grain yet getting different results between neck and face so I never noticed And very sensitive skin. Thank you
I suggest to use a moisturizer enriched with vitamin C daily after shaving, my husband suffered all his life and used only trimmers. He used my vitamin C enriched during covid and he is now shaving and using it right after. It’s 4 years now and his skin is smooth.. I hope you’ll find this useful 😊
I remember seeing a comment by an old school barber who had been doing so for over 40 years. He said, use a sharpened blade as often as possible, go ALONG the grain, nobody really minds thick beards unless you wax it off to get that smooth effect, and, get this: use cold water to wash off your shaved skin. Not sure what was the logic, maybe some dermatologist can expand on this.
Yea tree oil and aloe mixed if you can’t get your hands on the skin tight. Reduces inflammation and soothes the face. Also reduces the appearance of razor bumps and ingrown hairs.
i love learning more about this stuff i am a girl who is prone to these especially where i tweeze and wax and it takes extra care with your skin to prevent them from getting out if hand
Can you do a vid on the bumps on the back of the neck? I have these and they tend to bleed as well. It's gotten to the point that I leave spots on my pillow cases and I hate it. Thanks!
aftershave not prevent razor bumps? which aftershave do you suggest: alcohol based or balm free alcohol? about shaving cream what is the best against razor bumps: shaving cream or shaving gel? many thanks
what if I want/need to keep a completely clean shave? How would i go about preventing ingrown hairs when I don't want to leave short hair showing or is this not possible?
My problem is the hair on my neck grows in literally 5 different directions so I can never really find the grain. I’m always going against the grain whatever direction I go. Luckily the hair on my face grows in one direction
I stopped shaving with a razor altogether and only trim with a regular, cordless hair trimmer without any attachments. I use the close foil attachment afterward afterward on some spots if i want it closer, but not mn much because that can cut too close too sometimes. I never get a close shave anymore, but my skin is better for it and I dont get razor bumps or ingrowns anymore. I think it is worth the price.
When you shave the edge of the hair it is cut to be super sharp making it easier to penetrate the skin if it curls back. Let your hair grow out for a while before shaving so sharp edge not so close to the skin and more likely to curl back into the skin. Definitely don't use one of those double blades that gives you super close shaves by pulling the hairs out of the skin then cutting it almost guaranteeing razor bumps. Use a rotary shaver instead of a straight razor so it doesn't cut so close to the skin. For extreme cases some guys use shaving powder.
Skin tight is good advice even if it was at the end. Using a sharp dual edged safety blade rated as mild, and not doing a two or three pass shave is my preferred method.
Trimmer worked wonders for me. The first time I shaved without them immediately got ingrown hairs but it does really depend on the hair texture- in areas where my hair doesn’t bend or curl ingrown hair is less likely so if your gonna use Anything aside from a trimmer know your body well
You can also avoid ingrown hair if you follow these steps before shaving: 1. Wash and Exfoliate the area you want to shave (wash with 5.5ph cleanser and exfoliate with Bubble mask, such as Holika Holika Soda pore cleansing O2 Bubble mask or Some By Mi bye bye blackhead 30 days micracle cleanser) 2. Dip the razor in athenol 70% before shaving 3. Apply a thin layer of Isntree Aloe vera gel to prevent pimples after shaving.
