I’m 65 years old and I think this song is absolutely great. I love the melody, lyrics and the voice.
The entire band was supposed to be in this video on the beach, but the drummer’s mother had just died so the other three band members decided to go to the funeral and said Chris should do the video alone since everything was booked to do it.
I was hooked on Cold play from the first notes of this beautiful song. Every album is pure joy. That voice just soars.
"Clocks" has been and will always be my only Coldplay must listen. Hauntingly beautiful, catchy and substantive. To me, this pales in comparison. But to each his/her own, and to that I will give respect.
Clicks is absolutely good
I get it that some people fall in love with an artist's sound and over time as the artist evolves, experiments, changes, some fans fall out of love. That's kind of sad. Everyone needs to try new things or we stagnate, become frozen. I like artists like Coldplay who continue to move ahead, explore new territory, find their own new roads. They may not please everybody, but real artists need to please themselves first, and they are pursuing their livelihoods at the same time. So if a little "commercialism" creeps into the mix, well, it was probably in there from the beginning. I'm not a big Coldplay fan, but I've found songs on all their releases that I enjoy a lot. This one has a really nice vibe to it. Thanks for the reaction.
true, art is an embodiment of yourself, which will always see change
Almost 3 years ago Coldplays song "Adventure of a lifetime" became my Anthem. On April 26th 2019 I was the blessed recipient of a heart transplant. This song reminds me everytime I play it, to be forever grateful and thankful for donors and their families. Do not watch the monkey video first. Do a lyric version, so you can read the words. My experience gave this song a whole new meaning. Check it out Daniel. You won't be disappointed.
Nice post Brenda, moved me to say hope you're doing ok? Best Wishes, Ian
singer Chris Martin was married to Gwyneth Paltrow for 13 yrs....former actress and owner of Goop! and there best song imho is Clocks....
Such a Classic song, they surely knows how to make a catchy song
Fix You is one of my favorite Coldplay tunes. They get haters for some reason. I think because they became so successful so quick.
Great Song 🎵
I love 'The Scientist' by Coldplay. It has to be listened to with the official video - a clever and sad video.
I love those wide intervalic leaps in the vocals!
A local radio station in Seattle produced a cd of songs from up and coming bands. They handed them out at a U2 concert. I fell in love with Yellow instantly❤️
They were in studio at night with an outside view. He was doing a parody of Neil Young and improvised the words looking at the sky. This was played repeatedly on MTV after 911 as the transmissions were damaged with tower collapse.
Coldplay works magic on a regular basis.
LOVE Cold Play, and "Yellow" is one of my favorite songs of theirs! Thanks Daniel, for this reaction ... and listening to your Mom! Ha!
That is true sometimes (most of the time) people always think something bad about you because of how you look. But I think those people are worried about themselves so they need to make something up. If I was so worried myself where would I be.
Chose this as our Father/Daughter dance song at her wedding. Gave it a whole new meaning for me.
In My Place is a freaking beautiful song
I think it's great that people bring their own interpretations to a work of art that the artist may not have intended, or even that the artist did not intend at all. I remember an interview I read decades ago where some really big rock star, though I don't quite recall who it was, mentioned something about how he didn't mind when people came up with their own meanings to his songs and he told a story about how one time a fan told him his interpretation of one of his famous songs and asked if he'd gotten it right and the guy told the fan that the song was actually about something much more simplistic but that he honestly liked the fan's interpretation much better and wished he'd meant that from the start when he wrote it and joked that from that point on he'd start using the fan's interpretation as his own whenever people asked him about that song because it was cooler and more interesting.
A great song! You would probably love ‘the scientist’ by them - totally different style to this.
Also, check out Supertramp - ‘school’, Black Sabbath - ‘children of the grave’, Rainbow - ‘stargazer’, and Genesis - ‘mad man moon’ (think you would love the lyrics).
Man, the 90s. This is one of those songs, for me, that’s a first-time-listen -mind-blown 🤯
Enjoyed. Thanks.
Coldplay is one of my Favorite all-Time Band among Led Zeppelin.....Three Dog Night.....CCR...Blood Sweat & Tears......The Beatles.....and Coldplay and Chris Martin are one of the few groups that makes me cry when I hear their music!!! Just top Tier Music!!!! and Musicians!!!!
Fabulous song. After hearing this I and my family became hooked on Coldplay. Their album “Rush of Blood to the Head” is brilliant. Not a bad song on the album. Such great songwriting by lead singer Chris Martin.
But… Their new stuff sucks. Their first 3 albums were brilliant but after that, they became too commercialized and the quality of their music suffered. And it showed.
"A Rush of Blood to the Head" is a fantastic album. I'm not a fan of the others, but one masterpiece is sufficient.
Coldplay - Everglow [Single Version] - (Official Video), Gravity (Official Video), Daddy (Official Video)
R E A C T P L E A S E .💜 💙
Great Song! Please also react to a few of Alanis Morissette songs, case in point, Uninvited and You Outta Know
I know it is not all that popular an opinion but I love Radioheads second album the Bends and early Coldplay reminds me of it in a good way so good for them.
A fantastic display of musical knowledge. Thatnk the lords for you,
Great reaction. Please, please check out their song " Clocks" and/ or "Magician"
Hi Daniel! Great to see you reacting to both classics and newer songs alike. Coldplay was the soundtrack to painting my house interior in 2005. I didnt really keep track of them after that but this was a nice trip down memory lane. I like how you first let lyrics of songs affect you and then look for wider context.
Recently I have Richard Dawson - Jogging on repeat. He seems to have a very direct way of putting this thoughts into his lyrics, maybe you might want to give it a go! (video clip is great too!)
I love their sound. The music flows and Chris has a fabulous voice. Their early stuff stands out more to me but overall Coldplay is a great band! 👍I also like Clocks and Fix You!
SPEED OF SOUND
COLDPLAY
Ohhh Coldplay, what to say about them... They were my first favorite band, their early stuff is really good music. Nice reaction.
beautiful song, billie eilish and finneas went on stage with them and sang fix you! hoping you react to it
MTV shut down with this song the night of 9-11...the atmosphere was sooo thick
I once heard someone say that U2 has two children: Coldplay & Radiohead.
I'll let you all unpack that however you want (but keep in mind not all siblings are alike nor do they all completely take after their parents).
The only band to never have made a dud Album, all amazing all taking you on a musical journey, so many bands stay the same and just die
It’s a been awhile since I learned it, but I remember you have to de-tune one of you guitar strings to play this properly.
Coldplay gets a bad, somewhat deserved rap nowadays with the criticism of their synth happy pop sound. However their first 4 albums were a breath of fresh air at the time and the antithesis to the raw cynical grunge that dominated the rock music scene of the early 2000's. A Rush of Blood to the Head remains one of my favorite perfect masterpiece albums from start to finish.
Yeah, I'm not a fan but I don't hate them or anything. I'm old enough that the whole 90's Alternative Rock/Grunge thing was "my" music, so when they came we didn't quite know what to make of them. I remember we used to joke that they sounded like if the dog from the Muppets joined Radiohead with the condition that they stopped playing any of their good songs from then on, just to poke fun at our friends who liked them. And then Travis got popular, and we used to joke that they sounded like Coldplay minus their good songs.
In what sense is that "bad rep" deserved?
Your mom has great taste. They have so many I love, but VIVA LA VIDA is another of my favorites, and more so . . . a "banger" (?) I think you would enjoy it! (Just ask your mom! 😊)
So many people LOVE to diss Cold Play. I’ve never quite understood why. The only thing I can think of is that the musicianship and vocals are so good and they have a great sound (guitar sound reminds me of The Edge in U2) that many thought they played it safe, or didn’t live up to their potential. They had the sound of a top rock band but played poppy, repetitive songs. Some would say boring. They all sound the same after awhile. I bought a CD because I loved their sound, but quickly grew bored with it I don’t know if that’s why so many seem to disdain them. I respect them. I only wish they were more unique snd original in their song writing. Just my opinion
Puscifer - Autumn (Live from Billy D and The Hall of Feathered Serpents)
Awesome reaction - like your professional delivery! Old Coldplay is great
Hey Daniel - how about you showing us oldies (or not so oldies) about contemporary rock music - which bands would you recommend we listen to? I for one, would trust your judgement on that score.
more coldplay please
Do Clocks..one of their best
Next: "Clocks" and "Viva La Vida"
React more Coldplay please.
Coldplay is a tough one for me. I like several of their songs, love Green Eyes, but Martin just turns me off!
Wow! Well, I am a woman and I cannot tell you just how much Chris Martin turns me on! LOL - Honestly, they are my favourite band of all time!

Lose your razor?
If you're not joking, that was pretty rude! He is adorable with a little facial hair or clean shaven. It's kind of a thing for young men these days - I'm a mom to 2 cute guys who are in their 20's. Chill out!
@@jerickson725 thanks, Karen.
