Video Editor Reacts to Coldplay's The Scientist Music Video.
This music video was emotional! Not only that, it blew my mind that he sings this entire song in REVERSE!
Join me for Way Back Wednesdays where I react to music videos that were made before 2010 (I know it's not that long ago). I can't wait to share this experience with you all!
EDIT- I did a little research and saw that they actually filmed this a while ago back in 2002 and revamped it to be 4K.. so it was not technically filmed in 4K.

It’s all shot in reverse, he learnt the sounds of the words backwards, so he is actually singing a noise rather than a word, hard to learn and very dedicated
and there’s that one clip where Chris sampled the singing in a talk show i think idk and when they reversed it. he really is saying the words tho not perfect but you can definitely tell its the song haha

@@bigpapa1472actually she removed her seatbelt and took the jacket from the back and put it on. so basically its the other way around. she didnt took it off, if you played the reverse clip in reverse again. LOL?

This video is just the king of the reverse music videos lol. It's actually older than 12 years. This was in 2002 so 21 years old. All of Coldplays music videos are gold. If I were to recommend another one by them it would definitely be Up & Up. It's so cool.
And for this way back series I would highly highly recommend Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel. In my opinion one of the greatest music videos of all time. You will love it. It's from the 80's but it's so good.

I think Pharcyde - drop is better (it was 7 years before Coldplay. This video is more emotional tho.

Actually the song and the video came out 21 years ago, in 2002. They just reuploaded the video 12 years ago. So every technique has to be referred to the timeframe of 2002

The video is filmed backwards, with Chris Martin singing backwards while actually going forward.
It wasn't shot in 4K.
It was originally released in 2002, uploaded to RUclips in 2011, then remastered in 4K in 2022 for its 20 year anniversary.

I think they shot this on film. 35mm film negatives would have MORE than enough resolution to transfer later to 4k digital. In fact, you can get up to 5k from 35mm I believe.

I love this song so much, but cannot listen to it without tearing up or straight up balling my eyes out. It's been stuck in my head lately because I finally started a relationship with someone at the end of my senior year of high school and I'm heading off to college in a month and a half. I never realized until now how much I actually love this person, and even though my college is not too far away, I do not know what is about to happen next. According to the storyline I read about this song on Spotify, Chris Martin claimed this song to be "a love song about overthinking." And that is exactly what I am doing. I cherish every moment that I spend with this person when I am spending time with her and I do not take those moments for granted, but as the time for me to depart draws more near, I overthink the situation so much to the point where I calculate a negative outcome rather than looking forward for hope. I am overthinking because I do not want to lose this amazing relationship that just happened. I pray to God each day hoping that wherever life takes me next that He will put me on a path towards a great outcome and the pain will be relieved whether we decide to stay together or move on. Regardless, I do not want to feel the emotional pain I am experiencing and this song is a testament to just that. No matter what happens, I will always love her forever in my heart. 🥺
Also, the music video is shot backwards and Chris Martin had to learn the lyrics in reverse. Such a cool video, but now makes the song more emotional since I cannot listen to the song now without thinking about my Prom in reverse, text messages we have sent to each other in reverse, phone calls and conversations we have had in reverse, all the dates we have had in reverse, etc.
any movies, music videos or tv shows trying to mess with time is super exciting to me. Time really is our worst enemy when we think about it.

Yes you are correct about location, it’s called Bourne woods near Farnham Surrey, and James Bond sky fall was filmed about 3 miles away as well, reason it’s popular is pinewood studios (film) is about 15 miles away so super easy for filming, I used to walk my dog there and saw the Witcher being filmed, they made a lot of snow for that

I was about your age (guessing) when this song and video came out. I fell in love with it, so hard. Always brings tears and I'm still awestruck by how well it was all done. My only knock on it is that the car would have been more damaged at the bottom of the hill.

ive seen this music video many times and im surprised that i didnt notice the license plate for the car is from Sweetwater county here in Wyoming. I saw the BH&R and immediately knew.
