    It was actually really cool to revisit some levels for this video! I've always wanted to talk about Alterna and thought that now would be the best moment with side order being so close!

    Alterna has a lot of genuinely great levels, and the in-level music is so good. To me its biggest strength is the atmosphere, every hub world has amazing and distinct music as well as a lot of little details like the handprints of two parents and their kid in the cement that just make Alterna feel like a long dead civilization. Odd thing to praise, but it also has the best level backgrounds in the series imo. It dropped the ball on a few aspects, but damn it did so much incredibly well.

    For me Alterna was a good mix between Hero Mode and OctoExpansion.

    I think my biggest problem with the story mode is how there’s just like not really that much of an active story. The story of Alterna has already played out, and the Agents don’t change really. It feels like they put all that content in the beginning and end for the Freeform level progression, but even that ends up giving the gameplay an inconsistent pace.

    Alterna was a huge step up from the previous base game story modes and I’m glad the developers made sure everything about it was amazing.

    They got a good balance of hard and normal. It’s not as easy as Splatoon 2’s story mode

    I also find the levels far more interesting than in previous storymodes but you didn‘t talk about the boss battles which in my opinion have been bad this time. Not hard or creative at all, Big man was a free win (like seriously, can you even take damage? i seriously don’t know) and the other two were also kinda lame. And also there were only three of them (Mr Grizz excepted) so in some areas there wasn‘t even a boss?? But i also have to say that Mr Grizz was a fantastic bossfight which i really enjoyed. Only a shame that the other three were so lame

      It actually has as many bosses as the previous stories with 5. It's just that there's more worlds this time around, and one of them (with its boss) can't be revisited unless you interact with that one thing in the camp, so the boss fights take up a smaller portion of the campaign.
