after seeing three bilboards outside ebbing missouri, i initially found the movie underwhelming, maybe its the hype attached to the movie or something. but then i reflected on the families in ireland who have lost loved ones via murder and whose bodies have never been found and how the police give up on them. Frances Mcdormand did a fantastic job of displaying the anger and grief of a person whose had her daughter taken from her in the most violent way possible. the film thread a difficult line between the darkness of the subject matter and the dark humour. it was beautifully shot film. i dont think its a perfect film. in bruges is still Martin Mcdonagh best film. the rest are overhyped. and like a lot of irish people im getting a bit fed up of seeing Brendan Gleeson in everything.
we will agree to disagree then. But rockwell and mcdormand were superb in it. i think it will two time oscar winner frances mcdormand on 4th March and Sam Rockwell for best supporting actor. In bruges is martin mcdonagh best film. The rest were overhyped. and i have seen all them i couldnt see what all the fuss with the gaurd but i will concede that i thought Don Cheadle sparring with Brendan Gleeson was terrific. Calvary was overblown in the hype department. three billboards was beautiful to look at with great performances with Mcdomand and Rockwell. i i think this best stuff of the year stuff is nonsense. my pick for best for best film was manchester by the sea. but that went home empty handed. 2015s best film was inside/out. a masterpiece on every level.
The performances in Three Billboards are amazing, but the movie itself is super uneven and choppy. Do not even get me started on how sloppy the screenplay is. Margot, Sally, or Saoirse deserve to win this year, but Frances was also fantastic. It was a tremendous year for outstanding performances by women.

after seeing three bilboards outside ebbing missouri, i initially found the movie underwhelming, maybe its the hype attached to the movie or something. but then i reflected on the families in ireland who have lost loved ones via murder and whose bodies have never been found and how the police give up on them.
Mark Daly no, Three Billboards is a masterpiece and the best movie of Martin McDonagh
we will agree to disagree then.
Wow, after 20 years, the message of her winning speech remains the same...Well, i guess gender equality will be forever an issue and topic in Hollywood -_-
Seriously 😂😂 da fuck
Love Fargo, but Emily Watson's performance in Breaking The Waves should've gotten more recognition.
Jesus. Brenda's performance in Secret & Lies was at least 10x better than sum of Emily and Frances's performance. It is disgusting shame no one else mentions the fact
The fact that Frances has won 3 out of 3 best actress oscars makes me very happy.
She lost her nomination as a supporting actress for North Country.
@@antoniocervantes1773 I realise that darling but that’s not what I said.
She also won a fourth for Best picture for co-producing Nomadland.
just finished watching Fargo for the first time. she's so fantastic in it! :D certainly well-deserved.
I love how much she is genuinely such a champion of females in film before it was 'cool'. Beautiful to see that she has stayed the same awesome, fierce, talented woman.
0:48 Kristin Scott Thomas, after the delayed applause, "I'm not going to win this, am I?"
Another class act, KST
Just saw Three Billboards tonight. She is so good she can carry almost any film and certainly shone in this one. One of the best actresses of our time.
Who's here after just watching Frances collect yet another award? Nomadland Best Actress Award 2021, she is utterly amazing and will win many more in the years to come
Twenty-five years later and still one of the most deserving Oscars ever. I don't think I've ever spoken to anyone who's seen Fargo and didn't love it.
Frances - the wife - won the Best actress and Joel - the husband - won the Best Director, and Fargo - their film - won the Best Picture. What a night for them!
The English Patient won Best Director and Picture. The Coen Bros. won the screenplay.
English Patient won best picture, no Fargo.
With 20+ years perspective I think the consensus now is that Fargo was the better picture than the one that won (which I refuse to name because Weinstein pushed it.).
@@garymussell6543the Academy way back then was very conventional. Even the voting members were gullible. Unlike now that members are liberals and cannot be influenced by campaigns and perks.
Kinda love how she walks up there with no one to thank. Including her own husband. Like. She knows. Fact, WE know. She owns it.
I love the way he announced her name I think he was genuinely surprised and happy for her.
msminmichigan They were in Raising Arizona together. She played his best friend’s wife.
Every 1996 movie Oscar should have gone to Fargo!
+Jeff Brown
How open-minded of you. Thank god you don't have a vote.
Channel: Also thank, "him," that I have a good sense of humor. I think you're missing that part, at least momentarily?! This is just my way of saying this is an awesome movie.
+Jeff Brown With that I certainly agree. Never seen anything quite like it.
I hated the film fargo
Adam Maclada If you haven't already, take a gander at Vanishing Point (1971). Many people think it's a car movie, but really it's not.
Good that you won the Oscar. You always deserve Frances. You are one of the cutest, most talented, funniest, most affective, most beatiful, most reality players. You played very admirable.
lol she not deserved the oscaar in that year. Blenda and Emilw were far better than her
Fargo is one of the most powerful films ever and Frances McDormand gave an extremely powerful performance and she definitely deserved it!!
Frances is such a good actress (she’s one of my favorites)
Her Oscar-winning performances on Fargo, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and Nomadland are Spec - wait for it - tacular!
She is so amazing. We are all lucky to have her.
each time she won, she spoke about something extremely intellectually, made important points and forced everybody to question something and think. it's never the standard empty "thank you so much" speech. what a force she is
That was a great thank you speech.
Well...as of 2021, this is now her first of FOUR! 3 Lead Actress and 1 Producer/Picture Oscars- AMAZING talent!
What I like about her performance is that she wasn't super emotional or dramatic. She just played like a natural cop who abides by the law.
One of the best performances ive seen . Very effective, not over the top, just the right punch.
As much as I love Frances McDormand in 'Fargo', I do especially love the British Brenda Blethyn in 'Secrets and Lies', and would recommend everyone seeing this picture. Yes, that includes you. Why didn't you, yet?
Gosh, I don’t know about this one. Brenda Blethyn was absolutely sensational in Secrets & Lies. A once-in-a-lifetime performance.
Emily Watson was my personal favorite but oh god. McDormand, Blethyn and Watson were all worthy of the Oscar. Jaw-dropping performances. One of the toughest lineups ever.
Frances McDormand was great in Fargo but she was only in it for like an hour and was helped immensely by a brilliant ensemble cast. Kristin Scott Thomas' role in the English Patient was way more demanding and she put in a performance that was more deserving of the Oscar.
Fargo is one of the greatest films of all time. Period. Frances is superlative.
amazing
if you think that movie is one of the greatest then i think you need to stop putting LSD ontop your twinkies because that movie blowed.A masterpiece is a movie like goodfellas
Came here after her latest wins...
All her 4 Oscar speeches have been on the mark and always fighting for the same thing. Equal opportunity in Hollywood to adequately bring out in film the diverse nature of real life.
Respect to this lady. Love her.
Especially in Burn After Reading!😂😂❤❤❤
What a line-up. Brenda, Emily and Frances for me gave three of the best performances on screen - period. Any one of them deserved to win.
She's winning another one for 3 Billboards. She's excellent.
Wow, what a great speech! I love how simple and sweet it was.
Her performance in "Fargo" was superb. She deserved that Oscar. Her speech was also excellent, very heartfelt while also pressing for more such roles to be created for women. I applaud her.
Brenda, Kristin and Emily still deserve their Oscars!
One of the most deserved Oscar wins ever. Frances as Marge is a wonderfully true film heroine.
Just remembered Nic Cage and her were in Raising Arizona together! :)
that was holly hunter in raising arizona
oh i forgot she was in that sorry
McDormand is in it as well.
And she stole every scene she was in, which is hard to do when your costars are Holly Hunter and N Cage! McDormand is great in everything she touches.
21 years on, she did it again 👏👏👏
She better win for 'Three billboards'
Dennis Caouki
Who do you think will be nominated?
Frances McDormand- Three Billboards
Sally Hawkins- The Shape Of Water
Margot Robbie-I, Tonya
Saoirse Ronan- Ladybird
Meryl Streep- The Post
Kev Low Exactly those 5 are my predictions too
Your perdiction was right
She was aaaaamazing in Three billboards!!!!!! #1 Well done!!!
She is incredible. Cool, intimidating, inspirational
Three best actress Oscars now
She was just so amazing and captivating in Fargo! Such a deserved Oscar. Here’s hoping she wins again this year for Three Billboards...
I'm shocked she's now a FOUR time Oscar winner!!
3 for acting and 1 for producing
The greatest actress alive! Third Oscar, coming soon, for NOMADLAND!
A very strong set of nominees. Even though Frances McDormand's performance in Fargo was excellent, I personally feel Brenda Blethyn and Emily Watson deserved it more. A great acceptance speech though...
Hands down one of my favorite actors. And now Frances has 4 Oscars in total.
Frances is winning since 1997!
Wow Brenda Blethyn and Emily Watson this year too. They were incredible in their films. What a good year and a well deserved win.
And now she just won her 3rd award for "Best Actress" with «Nomadland», she’s amazing!!! 🥺👏🏻
And her fourth as well for Best Picture.
She's also great 8n "Women Talking"!
Boy what a tough call! All of those actresses had Oscar worthy performances. And I remember watching the Oscars back in 1997 watching this
Amazing performances all around but mcdormand is iconic here
She's just won the Bafta Award today, hopefully she will go on to win the Oscar. Awesome actress.
Well deserved but Brenda Blethyn was AMAZING too. Hard choice but I do understand
Frances should win for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
Artur Lapurinsh shut the fuck up
ino's feet idi naxui
She won.
I love FARGO, 1 of my favourite movie of all time. & she is perfect, well deserved. But, she's even better in 3 billboards.
“Requirements over The market value” love that☺️☺️☺️👍
Emily Watson should've won it. Her performance was immensely superior than the other's. But fortunately, McDormand, an actress I love so much, did a great job and such a fantastic and beautiful speech.
blenda waas better than both in that year. Go watch Secret & Lies
A class act through and through. Great speech. Geat acting. Selfless speech she deserves her successes, of which there are many!!
I love she walking Like a Boss!
That "Bravo" at 2:40 is beautiful
She is gonna win this year
