I'm still getting over the fact that they made me rip up my first edition Pokemon cards. Not only do a great many of them have SIGNIFICANT monetary value now, they held such a great deal of sentimental value for me as a child (collecting, trading them with my friends, buying them with my dad who has now passed away) that losing them was traumatic for me as an eight year old. But hey, demons made those cards and wanted me to play with them, or so the Kingdom Hall said that week.

I met David Splane when I had a demonstration at a convention years ago. We had to act like "bad dudes" who overly talks about playing football and was distracting from our "spiritual assignments". After the demonstration, me and the other brother along with the speaker went back to the convention overseers office and were excited about pulling off the demo. Splane was there and he said to us in his usual condescending tone, "your demonstration was good...but I prefer baseball" and walked away. The original demos outline was about baseball but we changed it to football to be more believable. The convention overseer told us that he most likely was involved in approving that demo, and he is one of the GB members who hates football because it is too violent! 😂😂😂

100% agree! I just gave up even trying to be a Witness in my late 20s and sometimes it's a little challenging to articulate the why as my journey didnt take me through baptism and pioneering and ministerial svc etc etc... but I did hate always feeling like I wasn't good enough and when you live in a world built on various hierarchies like we do in America, falling behind socially, psychologically, and financially is painful enough. Throw that in with your blood family turning their backs on you and any friends you had from the Hall and you end up just surviving as an unintended isolationist with no attachment, connection, or even basic understanding of your cultural environment or how you fit into or contribute to it. Raised as JW here From my understanding the teaching is that Adam's sin was perfect, therefore for whatever reason a perfect sacrifice was required to pay for that sin. That supposedly gives us to opportunity to prove ourselves as imperfect individuals whereas without that sacrifice there really was no hope to regain perfection Why Jesus sacrifice didn't undo that original sin I don't have a clear answer for. Overall it's pretty contrived, but that's the reasoning I was given when I asked that very question
@NonCoinCollector These are good and valid questions. As I was taught, Adam and Eve were created as perfect beings. Up until the very point that each took part from that tree of life, they were still perfect. The idea of them committing that sin can't necessarily be seen as a sin anyone nowadays would make for that reason. They had that instruction not to take and eat that fruit, and Eve went so far as to claim she couldn't even touch it for fear of the repercussions. They were clearly aware of their choice Truth be told the story of Genesis does make sense to me. It's everything else, stemming from Jesus' sacrifice onwards, that falters under questioning imo Also regarding the reading of hearts, I questioned the exact same thing in regards to our free will. I was told that in order to offer us that free will, god chooses not to read our hearts and thus doesn't "seal the deal" so-to-speak as he would rationally should he know we wouldn't believe in him or follow his commandments. A case could be made for that, kinda. You touched on it a bit but in the bible, god eventually comes down to earth to search for Adam. He questions why both he and Eve were covering themselves with garments. Could he have pretended not to know? Maybe; the bible doesn't hint or state that is the case. To me, an omnipotent being is omnipotent and that's it. I was told I was doubting his omnipotence by questioning his ability to not be omniscient so yeah, that reasoning was kinda circular. I wasn't very happy with this answer with regards to my question but it is the answer nonetheless lol Good questions though. I'm not the most knowledgeable but I was (and am still stuck) here for nearly 24 years now. If you've got more questions I'd be happy to respond with whatever I know about their "teachings"

And no, people like me are not motivated by a desire to glorify ourselves, engage in spiritual warfare with the true God, give in to our fleshly desires, or have a death wish. We are simply fans of the truth and we were beguiled by an organization that promised us just that. And they should get credit for focusing on ‘truth’ but one has to be realistic about how far that goes. And sadly, in the case of Watchtower, it’s pretty limited. Being in the organization and constantly being reminded, persuaded and cajoled to do more, do more, do more is similar to working for an employer that considers your paycheck as the assets that are taken from the company that lower its value. I woke up years ago when I realized that persons with lifelong full time service were regarded as the best people and everyone else was inferior to them. As the years went by I felt more and more guilty for having a family and working hard to provide for them when I should have done as the 75's had done and moved to Macon Georgia declaring "STAY ALIVE TILL 75". I tried to tell them that 75 was a huge mistake and proceeded with the family's expensive dental work in August of 1975. I attended a wedding in 1986 where it was obvious that the bride's parents had put off getting braces for the poor girl. Her teeth literally looked like they had been installed with a Kitchen Aide Power Mixer.

From my understanding the teaching is that Adam's sin was perfect, therefore for whatever reason a perfect sacrifice was required to pay for that sin. That supposedly gives us to opportunity to prove ourselves as imperfect individuals whereas without that sacrifice there really was no hope to regain perfection
Why Jesus sacrifice didn't undo that original sin I don't have a clear answer for. Overall it's pretty contrived, but that's the reasoning I was given when I asked that very question

As I was taught, Adam and Eve were created as perfect beings. Up until the very point that each took part from that tree of life, they were still perfect. The idea of them committing that sin can't necessarily be seen as a sin anyone nowadays would make for that reason. They had that instruction not to take and eat that fruit, and Eve went so far as to claim she couldn't even touch it for fear of the repercussions. They were clearly aware of their choice
Truth be told the story of Genesis does make sense to me. It's everything else, stemming from Jesus' sacrifice onwards, that falters under questioning imo
Also regarding the reading of hearts, I questioned the exact same thing in regards to our free will. I was told that in order to offer us that free will, god chooses not to read our hearts and thus doesn't "seal the deal" so-to-speak as he would rationally should he know we wouldn't believe in him or follow his commandments.
A case could be made for that, kinda. You touched on it a bit but in the bible, god eventually comes down to earth to search for Adam. He questions why both he and Eve were covering themselves with garments. Could he have pretended not to know? Maybe; the bible doesn't hint or state that is the case. To me, an omnipotent being is omnipotent and that's it. I was told I was doubting his omnipotence by questioning his ability to not be omniscient so yeah, that reasoning was kinda circular. I wasn't very happy with this answer with regards to my question but it is the answer nonetheless lol
Good questions though. I'm not the most knowledgeable but I was (and am still stuck) here for nearly 24 years now. If you've got more questions I'd be happy to respond with whatever I know about their "teachings"

And no, people like me are not motivated by a desire to glorify ourselves, engage in spiritual warfare with the true God, give in to our fleshly desires, or have a death wish.
We are simply fans of the truth and we were beguiled by an organization that promised us just that. And they should get credit for focusing on ‘truth’ but one has to be realistic about how far that goes. And sadly, in the case of Watchtower, it’s pretty limited.
It is simply amazing how much more there is to learn if you don’t self limit by stopping and putting down stakes, spiritually speaking.
And bashing JW’s is one thing, pointing out inconsistencies and outright fallacies in the interest of pursuing the truth is quite another.
The real question for all of us is…. how much do we really value the truth? What are we willing to risk in our pursuit of it?
There is no wrong answer, there is only, well, the truth.
I was pushed n pushed and pushed some more to read everyday. And do it the way hes Splaining it. So finally I did and guess what, I saw what a hot mess it is.
And in a couple of years,
Maras/ Mary will be making her own RUclips videos of her own experiences with the teachings of the WTBTS organization society members, or her OWN abuse of the WTBTS organization society, once Maras /Mary, becomes a woke, eyes wide open, as of now Maras /Mary is still kept in the world of in the blindfolded position, but she is going to do her own research on the topics of who are these people and where did they come from, situations, don't look for us/them on the /net or RUclips, or in their own/past literature, or ask our neighbors, just on the org. Com, or accidentally comes across the Australia royal commission vs WTBTS organization society for children sex abuse cases, and the list goes on and on, we'll all soon be meeting Maras/Mary in the near future, just as we did with so many others that were once upon a time just like Maras/ Mary, thanks for sharing this information with us a nother great video thanks,

Each member of the GB has their very own individual creepiness factor. When Splane said "of course you do" about wanting to read your Bible, the hair on my neck stood up.
Being in the organization and constantly being reminded, persuaded and cajoled to do more, do more, do more is similar to working for an employer that considers your paycheck as the assets that are taken from the company that lower its value.
I woke up years ago when I realized that persons with lifelong full time service were regarded as the best people and everyone else was inferior to them. As the years went by I felt more and more guilty for having a family and working hard to provide for them when I should have done as the 75's had done and moved to Macon Georgia declaring "STAY ALIVE TILL 75".
I tried to tell them that 75 was a huge mistake and proceeded with the family's expensive dental work in August of 1975.
I attended a wedding in 1986 where it was obvious that the bride's parents had put off getting braces for the poor girl. Her teeth literally looked like they had been installed with a Kitchen Aide Power Mixer.
Unfortunately we have to give David the benefit of doubt because he is using a newly written bible, in fact it's light is so new , it has words and paragraphs that don't exist in any other bible.

It's also a JW, WT, elder tactic to make another person give a talk to either humiliate them, teach them a lesson or so how poker face they can be to keep a straight face on a subject they have been called out on. Splane is the "scholar" of the WT/GB. He's the one that brought us the overlapping gens, the new light on types and antitypes ...... Now he's telling JWs to just "enjoy" reading the Bible. For any non-JW that might be curious about why the Governing Body members take such a condescending tone about the Bible: they believe it belongs to them and was written for them specifically. Although other humans have access to it, they cannot understand it without the Governing Body’s assistance.

I find Mr. Splane' s work beneficial and don't see a justification for putting him down. His Overlapping Generation dogma was bad enough to last for many generations as he attempted to change the meaning of the word generation and make it mean contemporaries.

Oddly enough, I did in-depth reading of the Bible (on top of reading it cover to cover 3 times), and it turned me into an atheist.
Splane loves stories about ancient men. Lovely. Not a woman or child in sight. Bring on the men of old - after all, in JW land, it’s a strictly man’s world.
Ironically, dwelling on He-Man's muscular body (and Arnold's and Sly's) was what led to me leaving the Witnesses. So Splane is to blame?
