It's so hard to find the Japanese sub of this on RUclips but I prefer it so much. There's a few scores featured in the American version what I prefer but overall the voice acting and music in the Japanese version is far superior.

I prefer the Japanese music actually. The soundtrack has the music from the Japanese SF II The animated movie AND the Japanese opening and closing (& karaoke vers) of the SF 2 V TV show as well on the CD. Something about that music is just... addictive. And love the Japanese music in this movie during Chun Li's battle and when Ken is driving in deep thought going to fight T Hawk at the docks.
Also the opening and closing Japanese songs to Street Fighter II V also connects to the instrumental music during the show....

@@Grillenheimer Yes, generally I much prefer the Japanese soundtrack too, a few songs aside. In an ideal world, for me, they would have used the Street Fighter 2 game OST's, that would have been amazing.

But the American version of the Ryu's theme is cool too. When he is climbing and remembering the past.

I loved this anime from the first time I saw it as a 7 year old kid (I'm now in my mid-thirties, and if anything, I love it more now!), this fight (the opening frame of a brilliant video game adaptation, probably to this day, one of the best, and it's not even close!), between 2 otherwise pound for pound, equal fighters, at the absolute top of their game, on every level. kicking the absolute LUMPS out of each other, the thunder, the SMOKIN' rock soundtrack, the textbook hadouken on his absolute last legs from Ryu, just as a deranged, screaming, bleeding, beat-up Sagat is dashing at him using what last energy he has, just so fucking intense! THIS is how you choreograph a fight scene. A shame Capcom haven't really come close since this 1994 anime. Just brilliant. And this is just the first 5 minutes!

@@simplyphenomenal695 Fascinating you say that. I actually really enjoyed the work by Lerios and D'Andrea. The common 'fighting spirit' leitmotif that ran through the soundtrack, particularly in the opening fight with Sagat, Calcutta, during Ryu's training end meditation sequences as well as during Ken's meditation and the final fight, worked really well. I think it might be worth revisiting the US version. I'll watch the Japanese version again.
