Yes! I even make product choices according to the packaging. You see art and appreciate beauty everywhere. I've now made a journal specifically for packaging that I can pop pieces into that I don't have to keep hoarding. The junk pieces themselves tell a story. I saw it on a RUclips a while back and thought it would cure my hoarding a little. I enjoy working in that journal the most funnily enough x
@@megjournalsso do I! I have also saved the Amazon packaging and the large cardboard envelopes my books came in. They would definitely make beautiful and sturdy art journal covers or storage for yet more collage papers 😉 really enjoyed this post Meg ❤ whetted my appetite for a new junk journal
This is one of my favorite videos you have ever shared! It just goes to show that you can make beautiful pages using paper that most people don't give a second look at. Thank you for sharing! ❤
So inspirational. I love the idea of using my punches and covering up the wording on brown packaging. I am an Amazon junkie so I have saved lots of their brown envelopes and packing paper. ❤️
I love what you did with the last piece. I'm like you I've got so much of it. It's like getting treasure when those packages arrive. That last piece would make such a lovely journal cover and the stitching just adds that lovely pop of colour and texture. Inspiring as always Meg x
OMG I love love love love love this. So inspirational just full of ideas for my brown paper that I collect like everybody else. LOL thank you so much for sharing and I can hardly wait for Junk Journal July
I recently started junk journaling, and also recently moved. So I actually purchased a roll of brown packing paper to pack my things, and now as I’m unpacking it’s really REALLY hard to not save each piece out of the boxes! I definitely would if I had the space. 😂😂 Anyway, all that to say I really needed this video, because there’s a lot of brown paper in my life right now. 😂🤎🤎
I’m the same way, I agreed with my partner that we couldn’t save it all, then went and folded up a big stack and hid it in the garage where he wouldn’t find it 😂
@marymccarthy2 I found the best way to store the brown paper is to roll it, then roll another piece around that and keep going! Takes almost no space. Enjoy your new place.⚘️⚘️
I've always loved brown wrapping paper and thanks to another journaling video by James Burke I was able to make a whole bunch of journals from my brown paper hoarding/collection. Thanks for more ideas, I can't wait to play around and add them to my journals.
Hi Meg! LOVE this concept and especially love the collage piece you made covering the wording on the paper… there’s just something about brown paper - years ago I purchased a huge wide roll of it that’s hardly been used, I have grocery bags, and lots of cardboard… looks like I need to get busy! Thanks for the ideas! Have a great day! 🙂
I really enjoyed seeing all the ways to use brown paper. I was doing a collage on a square of packaging then put a focal point using a paper flower and dress it up with glitter glue or nuva drops and of course a butterfly.😍
Meg! Meg! Meg! I’m so excited! I was getting worried about getting my craft room ready for junkjournaljuly. My chiropractor is having trouble getting me out of bed. lol. I was looking around and found a journal cover I had made for JUNKJOURNALjanuary. I hadn’t gotten to use it. It’s perfect! And, as I sort mountains of massive amounts of paper, scraps, ephemera and only God knows what is lurking in there, I keep finding other things to add. I’m going to use 3 colors. Very pale pink, buff, and white/ cream. I ordered the buff folders from Amazon, but they came from ENGLAND! Do you believe it? They were not cheap, but I only like “pinky browns”. These folders are perfect! I really don’t like browns with orange in them. lol. My mom used to call me persnickety. lol. Do they use that word there? It means very very picky. I really think I might make it. Today, I think I found a place to keep my tiny little sewing machine to use on paper. lol. I have a tiny little sewing kit. lol. With a teeny tiny little pincushion. ROFL. These things make me happy when I work. I’m moving things around my desk so i can get to things easier. I’m being more careful about prime real estate. I loved the way your brown paper turned out. So pretty! I love the colors and texture. The sewing really topped it off! Hugs, treen 💕💕💕🤎🤎🤎🤍🤍🤍🩷🤎🤍
How do you know when to stop when doing a collage page? I always keep adding and can’t get to the “that’s perfect so let me stop here” it’s more like “ok that was probably too much” instead! 😂😂 yours always look PERFECT - I’m even currently using Amazon packaging trying to channel you and this page you’re doing! Love your journals, your channel and most importantly - you. Thank you for posting so much bc it literally makes my day!
I’m a collector of brown packaging 😂it’s to the point sometimes if I’m not expecting a package, and at the store and they’re about to toss the “brown packaging I just ask may I have that please. 🎉😂. Thanks for sharing your tips & ideas again for brown packaging. ❤❤.
Free craft supplies!!!! I've been collecting this Kraft packaging for years (sadly had to just throw some away I had so much😂). Was trying to figure out how to dye it, as tea and coffee doesn't show up and you don't always want to do the food coloring. You've expanded my horizons, TY!!!!!! I also collect the Amazon Kraft mailers and use them as journal covers by covering them in collage fabric or paper! SO glad I'm not alone in collecting all kinds of cool free stuff to repurpose and use in my JJ obsession!🥳🎉🎉🎉
I first tried gel printing as a way to interest my granddaughter in crafting. She loved it. I bought a plate but also made 1 so we could work together. We had so much fun.
I love using found objects in my artwork, so this video was a lot of fun for me to watch. I have a question though, at 4:27 , what is that cardboard honeycomb that you're using to make texture with on your gelli plate? Is that something that you made, or that you got from somewhere? It looks so cool and it made such a pretty texture for you!
My husband knows to NEVER throw brown paper packaging and envelopes away! 🫡 Lol! I just subscribed to your channel, Meg. Thank you for these great ideas! 😊❤
Lastly, I always just turned the Amazon paper bags inside out, so that the unprinted side was on the outside, and then used them as gift wrapping. I then only got creative with the gift tags. Thanks to you, I now have a few more ideas. Thank you!
I use my brown shopping bags as well for brown paper, I open them up and stamp and paint on, and all sorts, I line my splash box with the packet as well, especially when I use sprays and paints ....
In case this helps anyone else… I hung a string so I can hang my drying pages up with mini clothes pins, I was having space issues with papers laying on all surfaces drying too lol. This let me hang papers fairly close together (as long as there’s no breeze in the room). Happy creating everyone!
Your presentation was very well done, easy to listen to and to get started on ideas. You stepped out of the artist box and were very creative. Again your organization and presentation was organized and well covered
So many cool ideas!! I really need to use some of my brown packing paper I have stacked up. Many times it is the last choice for me to use them in my journal!
Oh my goodness, I’m slow. I just found your RUclips channel and this video! Now I know what to do with all that brown paper I’ve been saving.😂😂❤️ also I love the gel prints you were doing with the color combo. Do you let the first layer of paint fully dry on the gel plate before you put the next layer then wait for that to dry as well before you pull it? Tell printing is totally addictive in the best way, but I’m still trying to master much to let it dry. Also, I too love, Skillshare. and Froyle is a top favorite!! thank you very much for all your cool videos, I can’t wait to go through them❤
To get the light back ground with the design was it 2 different times you pressed the brown paper down or the 1st time …. It was quick but I would like bit of advice on this one… but it was very nice … loved it.

Yes! Lolol.
I use packing A LOT.oh yeah.
Glad I'm not the only one 😅

Oh I loved these ideas!! At the end I thought how lovely it would be to cut it up and emboss some of it. I cant wait to try some of your ideas
Oooooh now there’s an idea! I’m yet to try out embossing, maybe it would get addictive 😂
@@megjournals I find most everything to do with journal making addictive lol
You're alright, Meg! It's not hoarding if it winds up in a journal !! Hugs from the Midwest, USA, MK 🤗❤️🤗
