Ways to know that Telltales posted a fake story: 1). Too much information (especially at beginning). 2). Weird time jumps that usually has a big one at end. 3). The "commenters" aren't mentioned by name. 4). Seems like a Lifetime drama/Soap opera. 5). Usually has a 1 vs the world theme / Do it for dan theme. 6). OP and characters usually goes against normal human nature example: OP gets assaulted in their home and doesn't call cops. Example 2: Person/people OP has problems with "Barge into" their home and again doesn't call police. 7). OP always has to ask reddit AITAH even though asking that question goes against Human nature of the OP being severely wronged. 8). Weird Updates that aren't needed. 9). OP reiterates things multiple times in a single "post". 10). Stating their feelings/how they feel "in the moment". 11). IRL laws do not apply. (Battery, theft, harassment, etc.) 12). Takes most of the video to even get to the title point. 13). When it comes to wills/inheritance, it usually is in the amount to live comfortably if smart or a huge outrageous amount that it doesn't make sense. 14). Has a "family business" that is "really successful". 15). Has abusive parents who do horrible things that are not acceptable or petty (such as abuse, unreasonable rules, favoritism or neglect) But the OP doesn't ask help from family members/cps while being able to do so. -@FinnishM3mes 16). Has crazy In-law that shows up with "legal documents" that supposedly is from a Lawyer over things that only a court can decide. 17). "So I'm obviously in the right but some random character(s) who's relatively unimportant to the story says I'm not so AITA?"-@conormac6293 18). Story is a movie script/OP and crew act like detectives. 19). Has an OP "rethinking" his choices because of irrelevant characters in the story. -@FinnishM3mes 20). Has unrealistic ‘bullies’ and the ‘villain’ in each story ALWAYS gets disowned or removed from the parents will by the end of each tale. -@SarahLovesBoobahandErEr 21). Has the AI Bingo! "Whirlwind of emotions" "rollercoaster of emotions" "Well, you see" "[person] apologized profusely" "Surrounded by love and affection". @fl-ri 22). Has a "dream world" or "Alternate universe" motif to it. 23). Has the "EDIT: Holy crap/OMG this blew up over night/in a few hours". 24). Actions of characters in story doesn't match human behavior. Like approaching someone after they get a restraining order against them right after the hearing to instate that order and make threats in front of attorneys.
What the hell is wrong with her, why do they wait until the last for fantasies of daddy love or connections that are clearly harmful and look for something that is at least useful or healthy?
The story feels real in the sense we all drown in problems that from an outside prespective are a simple fix, most of the time because of emotional traumas and family. The easiest way to adress this issue and avoiding all this drama was not to talk about past drama, just a "I can not support you." and tell their parents its their responsibility to help their daughter.
Stories like this make me glad that I learned to stand my ground and never to let anyone make me feel inadequate or less than in a given situation. We have a right to make decisions for our personal benefit and I'll be damned if I allow anyone to guilt me into a position where I'm forced to sacrifice my peace of mind for the sake of "family"......if we're truly "family" then they would understand and respect my stance.....if not, perhaps we'll get it right in the next life
Honestly, what can I say? I really wish OP could just turn everything off, post all the hell she has been through in her life for all to see and go to another state, scorch the earth style. I can feel the emotions OP has now, it is frustrating and painful💔💔💔
Blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. That’s the real quote. I hate it when toxic family members try to use this to get what they want
Okay so I’m gonna stop at where it says you should help family and what is thicker than water dude if you’re saying that you need to help Emily why don’t the relatives help her if they’re so worried about her like people say it when they can do with themselves?
After hearing lots of these stories here, why so parents that show heavily favoritism care about the neglected children being in contact with them? If they treat them like a nonexistent factor and treat the other lile the only child, why do they want to keep the neglected one in? Do they want a scapegoat or a stepping stone for the golden child that bad? Or is it just for their image being shattered?
Was thinking the same thing throughout the whole story I know she has gone thru a lot but as RuPaul says “if they aint paying your bills, pay them no mind”
Every scapegoat in thoese stories is a doormat... Doesn't they have enough? Every time she said "trying to explain" makes my blood boi more than the actions of her toxic family. I hope her father sees this because this video will show him that he’ll never see his daughter again not to she her getting married or no see any future grandchildren are any of her milestones since he decided she’s no longer his daughter
People like Emily are why I’m so inquisitive towards everyone. I listen to every angle of the story and I don’t move an inch when tears flow. I want the truth.
I'm sorry but some people just sound too stupid? Why didn't you post anything in the last 10 years? Why did you keep quiet hoping for things you knew would never happen? Never be the better person in situations like this please.
From the way she is speaking you can see how much therapy she’s been through, she should make her father realize that she was never your sister but a bully.
I listen to these all the time now, and they remind me just how lucky I am to have the family I have. Blood may be thicker than water, but it isn’t the same blood, and the blood can be thick in multiple ways: 1 is a good bond, the other way is a hate bond. Either way it is still a bond. I am adopted.
This story has been done a 100 times. Either way if all this family is sooo upset, then she should take her in. Op needs to stop being a punk and stand UP...stop begging for validation and letting others control her narrative.
Id tell ur dad, mom would hate this version of you. That as soon as u got another daughter u just forgot me. Mom would never do that to me. He wants to guilt u well guilt him back
Holy crap, I hate it when people get the "blood is thicker than water" saying wrong, for one. Second, yeah. What everyone else is saying. If the extended family is pushing for OP to take in the entitled stepsister, then why don't they do it instead?
i will just say the op should write a message that explains everything she went through and how after getting disowned has made things worst and the op should start a new life
Cutting off family can be hard, but I cut off most of my family for being abusive and passive years ago and now I'm enjoying life and flourishing. Many mourn the family they used to have or the family they want, but letting go of the toxic people and living is often for the best
I hope that WHEN Dad realizes he made a mistake, that OP says "I don't know you, since we're not family. Leave or I call the cops." And if he forces his way in, CALL THE COPS.
Always funny to see the cracks take shape in these fake stories. Personal favorite is when the evil sister inherits being a mean drunk from her stepfather (18:22) 😂
“blood is thicker than water” actually doesn’t mean blood family, it means the people who have stuck by your side. Sometimes family isn’t who you’re born with, its who you choose. “the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb”.
It's incredibly sad how common it is for parents to suddenly favor the new step or adopted kids over their biological ones. I've listened to so many stories about that.
The fact that “blood is thicker than water” doesn’t mean that your family is the most important because the phrase actually “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.” Meaning that those who share your last name aren’t always your true family, but it’s actually those you bonded with in your lifetime.
I love how everyone uses the "blood is thicker than water." Which is not the quote. It's, "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of birth." Meaning friends and lovers before family.
Man, this is a very depressing story, and while I am not sure if I had heard this before, my heart breaks for what OP has dealt with. Anyone who thinks this story is fake, unfortunately the human heart is capable of such poisonous vindictiveness, and I count those who have never seen this side of people extremely lucky. Honestly OP, if you can afford to move away and make a fresh start, do it. Rather than mourn whatever non-existent hope you have of being part of a family, take this as being finally free of all the toxic influences in your life. The best revenge against such vindictive narcissists is to live your life on your own terms, cause the thing that these narcissists thrive on is power, so by showing they have none of that over you, it will drive them crazy despite the ultimatum. Continue with therapy, and while I really advise showing restraint for this, if you want a family, you can start your own. Work on yourself, leave the emotional baggage behind, cause as long as you present yourself as a catch, people will flock towards you. Once again, the best "middle finger" you can give to your narcissistic family is living life on your terms.
Do not worry. Once you let them go tell me the ones opening their own eyes when they have to deal with her nonsense and bulshit. Leave the trash out your door. And don't look back. They are not worth it.
"Blood is thicker than water" and mayonnaise is thicker than blood so we shall all be loyal to mayonnaise before our families. Edit: The government needs to make a law that says the children you bring into the marriage is your priority more so than the kids your partner is bringing into the marriage.
10:03 no she's not. Family is what you acknowledge is your family. Just because someone gets married into a family does not make them family. If you know their family and acknowledge that they are family because they're in your family and you love them the way a family member would then they are family but if they are a person who has been tormenting you half of your entire life and did several various bullish things during that time and turning your parents against you, that's not family even if they're married into the family they're just not family.
Folks need to learn that explaining yourself to a narcissist doesn’t do shit. They don’t care about your side. They don’t care that Emily hurt OP and they never will. Don’t explain yourself, just shut the door in their face.
When you don't tell the truth to your loved ones like family, friends, and relatives, and it backfires you, then they are not in the wrong, you are in the wrong. The minute she came to your doorstep, you should have confided with family or relatives about her. Instead, you waited for them to make their move, when the ball was in your court. This story can't be true, because we know how the real world works.
Funny how they preach blood is thicker than water when Emily is not blood and it's so sad of how her father tossed her aside the minute he got married and got a new daughter blindly favoring his stepdaughter over his biological daughter and her needs failing to save her from the constant bullying failing to see what was happening with her. He's a poor excuse of a man and a father
failmiy is gone - carry one. Tbh. despite all this rollercoster of events - I think it will turn good for OP. What is always make me wonder that is common in that kind of stories is "You should take in your sbiling/stepsibling" talks but no one other is willing to do so like Emily couldn't go to the grandparents or aunts etc? Why they won't take her in?
I don’t know why, in the 21st Century this needs to be constantly repeated, but here goes: VIDEO DOOR BELL. They are great for checking who is at the door before you answer it AND for recording interactions AT the door. The OP lives in an apartment and a video doorbell would have saved so many issues because the sister would have been done in by here own actions and words. Come on, people, if the tech is present and affordable, save your doormat selves some trouble by investing in some peace of mind.

Ways to know that Telltales posted a fake story:
(Battery, theft, harassment, etc.)
-@FinnishM3mes
16). Has crazy In-law that shows up with "legal documents" that supposedly is from a Lawyer over things that only a court can decide.
17). "So I'm obviously in the right but some random character(s) who's relatively unimportant to the story says I'm not so AITA?"-@conormac6293
18). Story is a movie script/OP and crew act like detectives.
19). Has an OP "rethinking" his choices because of irrelevant characters in the story. -@FinnishM3mes
20). Has unrealistic ‘bullies’ and the ‘villain’ in each story ALWAYS gets disowned or removed from the parents will by the end of each tale. -@SarahLovesBoobahandErEr
21). Has the AI Bingo! "Whirlwind of emotions" "rollercoaster of emotions" "Well, you see" "[person] apologized profusely" "Surrounded by love and affection". @fl-ri
💯👍🏿 you forgot ai's favorite word palpable.
We have a right to make decisions for our personal benefit and I'll be damned if I allow anyone to guilt me into a position where I'm forced to sacrifice my peace of mind for the sake of "family"......if we're truly "family" then they would understand and respect my stance.....if not, perhaps we'll get it right in the next life
What a doormat
Disgusting, i feel angry now.
Don’t be it’s probably fake that’s how I started to get less angry and enjoy the story have a good day😊
Honestly, what can I say? I really wish OP could just turn everything off, post all the hell she has been through in her life for all to see and go to another state, scorch the earth style. I can feel the emotions OP has now, it is frustrating and painful💔💔💔
Blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. That’s the real quote. I hate it when toxic family members try to use this to get what they want
I just hate doormat stories
Okay so I’m gonna stop at where it says you should help family and what is thicker than water dude if you’re saying that you need to help Emily why don’t the relatives help her if they’re so worried about her like people say it when they can do with themselves?
After hearing lots of these stories here, why so parents that show heavily favoritism care about the neglected children being in contact with them? If they treat them like a nonexistent factor and treat the other lile the only child, why do they want to keep the neglected one in? Do they want a scapegoat or a stepping stone for the golden child that bad? Or is it just for their image being shattered?
💯👍🏿
This girl is WEAK. Why in the HELL did she care what these toxic people think, and why did she try to keep them in her life?
Was thinking the same thing throughout the whole story
I know she has gone thru a lot but as RuPaul says “if they aint paying your bills, pay them no mind”
Every scapegoat in thoese stories is a doormat... Doesn't they have enough? Every time she said "trying to explain" makes my blood boi more than the actions of her toxic family. Just say how ridiculous they act , how selfish, how blinded they are, how they favored her stepsister especially the fact they can't denied it with the overwhelming evidence. Spit on their faces and move onEvery scapegoat in thoese stories is a doormat... Doesn't they have enough? It's probably fake AI story bc any normal human being will snap at some point.
I hope her father sees this because this video will show him that he’ll never see his daughter again not to she her getting married or no see any future grandchildren are any of her milestones since he decided she’s no longer his daughter
Only being nice because you have something to gain makes you a narcissist.
People like Emily are why I’m so inquisitive towards everyone. I listen to every angle of the story and I don’t move an inch when tears flow. I want the truth.
This sounds like a high-school creative writing project
I’m so sorry about your story. I hope you’re doing better now.
I'm sorry but some people just sound too stupid? Why didn't you post anything in the last 10 years? Why did you keep quiet hoping for things you knew would never happen? Never be the better person in situations like this please.
Sue them. Sue them all. Make them stand in court and have their abuse publicized and judged.
"You need to have family loyalty"
"Well where was your loyalty to ME??"
From the way she is speaking you can see how much therapy she’s been through, she should make her father realize that she was never your sister but a bully.
this story needs an amazing update from op, even if u make it up I'll watch because this needs an ending
Change ur number ur locks and never talk to them again
I listen to these all the time now, and they remind me just how lucky I am to have the family I have. Blood may be thicker than water, but it isn’t the same blood, and the blood can be thick in multiple ways: 1 is a good bond, the other way is a hate bond. Either way it is still a bond. I am adopted.
she a strong person to go through something like that and push on. It's crazy have people are blind by thing happening right Infront of them.
This story has been done a 100 times. Either way if all this family is sooo upset, then she should take her in. Op needs to stop being a punk and stand UP...stop begging for validation and letting others control her narrative.
how many times have i heard "but he/she is still family" and always says "another part of me feels guilt" like im so close to crashing out
My anger issues could never😡
Id tell ur dad, mom would hate this version of you. That as soon as u got another daughter u just forgot me. Mom would never do that to me. He wants to guilt u well guilt him back
"Blood is thicker than water" is always true
Holy crap, I hate it when people get the "blood is thicker than water" saying wrong, for one.
Second, yeah. What everyone else is saying. If the extended family is pushing for OP to take in the entitled stepsister, then why don't they do it instead?
Wow, I didn't feel bad for OP at all by the end of this.
i will just say the op should write a message that explains everything she went through and how after getting disowned has made things worst and the op should start a new life
Cutting off family can be hard, but I cut off most of my family for being abusive and passive years ago and now I'm enjoying life and flourishing. Many mourn the family they used to have or the family they want, but letting go of the toxic people and living is often for the best
What a pathetic excuse for a father.
Calling him a father is an insult to fathers everywhere.
💯👍🏿
@SYLVESTER-6782 people like OP have been beaten down for so long, that they know nothing else.
The ai's are getting better
I hope that WHEN Dad realizes he made a mistake, that OP says "I don't know you, since we're not family. Leave or I call the cops." And if he forces his way in, CALL THE COPS.
"Blood is thicker than water"?
Am I missing something here? Or the AI is in life support.😊
Idk why op opened the door when the parents visited her 🤦🏿♂️
Always funny to see the cracks take shape in these fake stories.
You did the right thing when she turned back to the mean person she showed her true colors don't let them turn it on you
I love how everyone uses the "blood is thicker than water." Which is not the quote. It's, "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of birth." Meaning friends and lovers before family.
She's lucky that her dad finally kicked her out of the family. Otherwise, she was willing to be the family doormat for decades more.
Edit: The government needs to make a law that says the children you bring into the marriage is your priority more so than the kids your partner is bringing into the marriage.
ok, i need an update for this as well if ever the op does. I need more tea!!!!
Why didn’t Emily move back in with her parents? 🤔
Saying the past is the past is such a stupid excuse. You could say that we should forgive Hitler because “it’s the past”
Doormat.
Doormat.
"For some context" *spends 10 minutes telling her entire life's story in great, unreasonable detail
Dad failed OP as a father, there’s no other way to say it
10:03 no she's not.
If family was so concerned why can't Emily go home.
failmiy is gone - carry one. Tbh. despite all this rollercoster of events - I think it will turn good for OP. What is always make me wonder that is common in that kind of stories is "You should take in your sbiling/stepsibling" talks but no one other is willing to do so like Emily couldn't go to the grandparents or aunts etc? Why they won't take her in?
I don’t know why, in the 21st Century this needs to be constantly repeated, but here goes:
VIDEO DOOR BELL.
Why i think this story is fake:
People that are this passive wouldn't dream of posting on Reddit.
