I went all in on the Horus Heresy Pre Order - all bought from a Local Friendly Gaming Store - HH BOX $254.15 - Loyalist Book $59.50 - Special Weapons Upgrade Sprue & Special Weapons $35.70 each - Total 385.05 (prior to tax but all pre order savings) - Deimos Rhino $39.95 & Kratos Assault Tank $106.25 = $146.20 - So all in $531.25 prior to tax -

Thanks for the video. I just received my 2,000 point Horus Heresy army. I bought the box set, which I will merge into one legion, a Razor Back and a Leviathan Dreadnought. Now... I have the devils own job of assembling it all... I think that what those plastic pieces for the Contemptor Dreadnought are, are plastic upgrade kits which you can buy off Forgeworld, for £25 each.

In Germany the Box costs 225€ (VAT included). If you buy online you can get 20% off. That's 180€. For miniatures that will cost in the GW Store about 420€. That's almost 60% off.

I get the contemptor was monopose but i feel that people bitched about that too much as well,was a clean looking kit for a fraction of the cost of the fw ones , love the missile launcher and weapon options for the new ones but ...
FW legion specific ones are still far better.
Yeah i went all in 3 starter boxes 2 Kratos 2 rhinos and a weapons upgrade pack.

So I can get the box set sell the spartan and buy a rhino and then "age" the army thru 30k to 40k? Or is this unheard of? It sucks the spartan isn't that good..

@@golkor9879 Straight up, if you're looking for top of the line WAAC/MIN/MAX play, then you probably don't need it. But as far as a starter army, for folks who prefer narrative play, it's fine. I've had several games already with just what is in the box, plus a character I got from FW and it's been a blast.

In the UK, independent retailers will bang out GW stuff at st least 20% discount. I could get this box for £139.50. Weird no US retailers do this..
Was discounted all over on eBay. 250 for the box instead of 300
US retailers can not discount below 15%
GW has said paint schemes will be part of the rules! What do you think about that?

Cheers-great vid. Though I'm still reeling from your comments at 15:15 about the resin Spartan not lining up properly. What company sells a £110 kit that fits together so poorly? Madness. This one looks much better but STILL has build issues-crazy! Teeny tiny lips on joints for large/hull pieces, nuts. Had a Takom kits WWI tank (which clearly this is based on) built in a similar way, which was really fiddly to align/fit square/securely. At least it was a 'mere' £50.
You just contact FW and they send you replacement pieces
Also that Takom kit was likely assembled by slaves in China who will die in thier 50s from resin fume exposure, wheras GW assemble thier kits in the UK with basic labour rights.

don't offer a missing/lost parts service, unlike say Tamiya or Revell
The problem with this box is the MkVI armour or as it used to be known in the UK Womble armour, leading to the games nickname Womblehammer. Not sure how far that translates outside the UK but a quick Google for Wombles will illustrate the point. The earlier and later marks are fine, it was just that MKVI helmet :-)

Also I guess I should mention that you can magnetize those arms with 1/8th inch magnets and be really easy to do if you wanted to swap between the lightning claws and the pew pews.
If you assume the box is just 9.04 pounds of all plastic and plastic goes for $1.20 per pound, the cost of raw materials is $10.85. The perceived value stated in the video is hard to justify. It is simply retro plastic space marines, some dice, plastic rod for a ruler and a rule book. Seems way over priced. I was considering purchasing it, but after evaluating it, decided against it for now.

Actually, because of the special nature of the "paper"(cotton and linen with special fibers) the paper itself is very high value as it cannot be found on the market, but your point is well taken.
