    As this is a legion tactical squad I don’t mind the lack of heavy and special weapons. My one pet hate is the lack of a bolt pistol arm for the sergeant and chain sword for bare bones 🦴builds. Cosmetically far better I love them 😍 just two important options missing

    • @Theenragedone
      @Theenragedone 2 года назад +3

      I completely missed that, as I pulled hand flamers out of a Black Templars box for my two Salamander Tac Squads. The lack of bolt pistol, and chain sword shouldn't be too bad if you have been playing awhile, but it will hurt new players, and that sucks.

      Aye, I found this pretty annoying aswell. Feel they could have extended the smaller sprue to give the chains words, bolt pistols and combi weapons. I managed with mine as word bearers by giving them corrupted chainswords from the csm range. But to players without existing space marine or csm forces this would suck.

      I think for a set that comes with 40 MK VI miniatures, just having 5, more or less, monopose Marines with hardly ANY options is pretty shite. I had to add a ton of bits from other kits to make it look somewhat varied and get together a decent loadout. They should at least have added one of the Special and/or heavy weapon sprues and maybe just throw in 30 Marines instead.

    • @Theenragedone
      @Theenragedone Год назад +1

      @@bobdole8830 it's a Legion Tactical Squad. There isn't a reason to put special weapons, or heavy weapons in. They don't have the option for it. It would have been nice to have a Thunder Hammer though.

  • @danroberts007
    @danroberts007 2 года назад +9

    @ 5:37 that piece you didn’t use on both sprues is the Augury Scanner wargear upgrade which you will probably want to include on some of your squads. It’s not mentioned in the rules on the back of the assembly guide, but it is in the Liber Astartes/Hereticus books and is fairly useful gear to have on your squads to deter flanking & Deep Strike attackers from getting too close.

    The reason why there are no special weapons in this set is, well, because Legion Tactical Squads cannot take any special weapons, apart from the combi-weapon the Sergeant can choose.

    It’s been giving me a bit of analysis paralysis what weapons to put on my marines and also which chapter to go with (I.e in terms of the options in the box, which legions do they work well for and which will require extensive conversion). I was thinking night lords but then realised I’d have to buy a lot of forgeworld stuff in terms of weapons, pauldrons and ´faces.´
    About the only thing I’m certain on now is a: I’m definitely going traitor legions as I bought the codex and b: I managed to get one of the weapons packs (the plasma and flamers etc) but not the heavy weapons… now I’m thinking I need the heavy weapons too before I start and also not entirely sure how to compose my squads in terms of how many special weapons etc snd finally which traitor legions best match up to the box and which ones don’t. I was kinda torn between 3 (after abandoning my night lord idea) of either sons of Horus, world eaters or thousand sons… I like all 3 thematically and in terms of colour schemes . It’s a hard decision 😂 if you do have any advice I’d appreciate it … I’m kinda leaning towards fast strike, speeders, bikes and dreads. One other thing that’s feeding into my analysis paralysis is that I’m not a massive fan of the Horus Primarch model and like the other 2… hmmm

      I haven't got the army book yet so hard to say. I'm the same, I still don't have the heavy weapons either, so I reserved 2 sets of tactical squads to build later. I'll be mostly playing this lot in 40k so I'm keeping my Horus Heresy options pretty simple. I only know a couple of people near me who will play it. Sons of Horus paint scheme is stunning, but for fast strike I wonder if any seasoned players here in the comments have any ideas?

      its important to note that if you take chain swords your bolt pistols count as combat weapons so that's +1 attack (for having 2 weapons) and shred for 5 points at str 4 but. chain bayonets are str 5 with a shred

    Minor ask - are the sets of arms/bolters interchangeable across different torsos or do they really only work with their default pose? Ie - can the arms from marine C on the sprue go onto marine D torso or they will be in an awkward position? Just wondering if I get some additional squads if it’s going to be as much variety as was possible with the firstborn tacticals. GW pics of the horus heresy box were the same 5 individual painted models copy pasted 8x over :-)

    • @rlauder7210
      @rlauder7210 Год назад +1

      I tried swapping some arms around and it sort of works, but sort of doesn't. They torso's are designed specifically for the set of arms that are with it on the sprue, but with a bit of knifework and fettling, you can get other arms to fit. However as the poses are all so similar, once you've got 20+ beakies all made up and painted, I really couldn't tell which ones I'd swapped the arms on.

      You can run squads as veteran squads which act like “modern” tactical squads. They are usually elite but can be used as troops with a rite of war.

  • @connorwright26
    @connorwright26 2 года назад

    If the heavy or special weapons upgrades are used on a squad of the tactical marines, does that take away the "troop" unit category away and turn them into heavy support or elite? Or do they stay as tactical marines but cost more points?

    • @Luke-ic8qi
      @Luke-ic8qi 2 года назад +2

      If you give them the 40k style 1 heavy & 1 special they need to be veterans (which can be troops with a specific rite of war). If you give them all special then the special weapon support squad is still troops (can't be compulsory) and all heavies is the heavy weapon support squad which is heavy support.
