Had someone try and pull something similar with me on ebay, after confirming they revived the item via messaging they then made a claim with their card that they did not, lucky their card provider sided with me in the end but it seems they often do this because of the lack of consequences in this type of fraud.
I know exactly how you feel Daniel. Quite a few years ago I stopped all Kindle sales of my books because of people ordering them and then "returning" them within 7 days, after they had had ample time to read and/or copy everything they needed from them. I much preferred to lose the sales to honest people than allow dishonest people to profit. Sadly dishonesty is now often seen as being clever. Just take a look at all the food manufacturers who decrease the quantities in their packets rather than increasing the price. The quantity or weight might well be on the packet, but they know that most people don't keep tabs on this.
It's not just reducing the 'quantity' of a food product, I can live with that. It's reducing the 'quality' that infuriates me. For years, I could buy the same products, knowing - or rather, trusting - that the manufacturer had devised it from the best ingredients. Now, you have to watch the ingredients list almost week by week, as they sneak in more sugar, more wheat, more rapeseed oil, modified starch and a few others. These are just fillers to dilute the 'real food.' Just try buying margarine that doesn't have rapeseed oil in it (the latter, when in crop form, is dessicated with 'Glyphosate,' of which traces stick to the seed, due to the nature of the seed coat itself. Since Glyphosate was introduced to, first, horticulture, and then agriculture, many workers in those fields have lost their lives to cancer. The number of ex-colleagues I've lost to cancer at around the age of 50 is unreal. The texture of foods have been changed by these shortcuts, and none of them for the better. Yellow mustard now has a granular feel which it never used to have. I almost don't recognise tartare sauce any more. And on finding a shop selling Heinz Sandwich Spread, something I hadn't eaten in 40 years, I had to do something I very rarely do and that is chuck it away after trying only a bit. It was disgusting, and nothing like the original recipe. These food manufacturers think we forget, but we don't. I'm now considering making all my own sauces from now on because the ones in the shops are unhealthy, stuffed with cheap fillers, and taste awful. It's bad enough when we get ripped off by fraudsters, but we're being defrauded every day by food manufacturers.
@@Debbie-henri I too have experienced this. Dorset Cereals makes a "Fantastically Fruity" variety of muesli for Waitrose. It's expensive, but for a long time it contained a very good percentage of cranberries and blueberries. A few years back they quietly substituted these out.
My sister had a similar experience to you, and the card company traced it back to a purchase she had made online or over the telephone and the agent at the company from which she had made a purchase, he had used the details, including the security number to make a huge purchase of his own. Fortunately because it was a large amount, it was flagged at her credit card company.
Good for you! Men like yourself help to change laws - can see you in the future being on a committee to turn the legal guns on corrupt/ignoring rights by public agencies - HMRC & Post Office type behaviour. We need truly independent inquiry panels in this country.
How do people represent someone when they know they're guilty??? It happens all the time and the agreement seems to be that unless the person says they did something and asks how to get out of it, they will be advised on various defences they might use. Judges have heard them all before and know which legal people do it more than others. I don't like dishonest people and couldn't represent them...

I am hopeful since when the fraud team emailed me back they said its a "Push Scam", so the fact that they have already called it a scam and which is kind of a good start. Hopefully i will get my money back soon
Think they might mean 'authorised push payment' scam. Basically where you, as the account holder, make the payment but it turns out to be a scam... Unfortunately that does NOT mean that you are guaranteed to have your money back
I’ve been through similar situations in the recent past, but mine was grotbags using card scanners that could scan a card at ten yards in my local Sainsburys car park.
Suing such people performs a service for all of us - fraud is too easy, and needs to be exposed, and punished. People who prey on others are beneath contempt. I don't post videos here, I'm retired and no longer try hard to sell my wares = I'm too old to cope with this kind of thing, and have too little experience of IT, social media, computer technology to want to get into it all; the mental and emotional strain would be too much to bear. But - I feel for those caught in the web of corruption, and I hope your action works out well for you.
This sort of thing is on the increase, sir. I do feel for you, having had it happen to myself when one bank split into two banks and a nefarious crowd were left with mine and other folks accounts. I do hope you get it returned as it's so hard to get into a bank and talk to a face and even if you can get someone on the phone, the level of suspicion seemed to aim towards me and a fear in the voice told of something that may be larger than just me again. All the best and keep as you said, safe. Cheers!
Thank you for providing these videos! I’ve learned so much from you. Shame on all those people that have figured out these scams. It’s like trying to catch smoke with a sieve.
Yes, there are some horrible (and stupid) people out there. That's why I've stopped using eBay to sell private items, too many people trying to defraud sellers, and eBay recently worked more in favour of the buyers by insisting sellers provide two funding sources. I'd rather give away my items to friends and acquaintances, than try to sell to a stranger, only to have that stranger claim a cashback against you.
I feel sick when I hear about a story like yours. You are lucky to have the knowledge to defend yourself, unfortunately other creators may feel overwhelmed by the situation and will just give up. I have a similar problem : for years now, I have been fighting the Swiss Post to get a service «at the door» to which I am entitled since I am disabled. But I am sure that the vast majority of seniors or people with disabilities in my city have to go to the post office when they receive a parcel or a letter requiring a signature. Either they do not even know that they are entitled to this service because no information is readily available on this subject, or they do not have the energy or the ability to enforce their rights.
Fyi, scammers do this sort of thing with hotel/airb*b bookings too. They make a booking, cancel it after, the booking agency refunds them and charges the accommodation provider
Sorry to hear of your experience. Please do keep us updated on your progress, what a muppet these people are taking on someone like you. Well done, thanks for making your videos, theyre great. J
People who do this kind of thing are the lowest of the low. I recently had a scammer trying to get my card details stating they were my bank. I kept them talking by saying I was trying to find my card. When I finally ‘found’ the card. I asked him why doesn’t he try getting a job as he’s a crap scammer. The phone went down immediately.
I’ve noticed in the last 10 years or so is a new breed of scammer. Those that revisit every transaction they make to see how they can scam a refund etc, a great using threats of bad reviews or social drinks. Some of the more scumbag element spend all their money that month and then hit retailers for refunds from previous purchases. It may be illegal but they know nobody will see it through to prosecute them even if caught.
When will people learn to not be so trusting, or is it lazy. As we have seen from the PO scandal, you cannot trust anything but that which is on paper.
I have resorted to cancelling credit cards when certain websites ignored my repeated requests to not renew a subscription but its insane to lie to a bank about a card being stolen and try to get legit transactions voided. You could wreck your life.

I phoned the farm the next morning and they said they'd received a delivery confirmation from Fed ex bearing my initials as signature! It seems the delivery driver kept our turkey. The farm refunded me. Apparently theft of items by delivery drivers is so bad that companies are repacking popular items to disguise the contents. Whatever next?
I have the exact same issue. I provide accommodation and we had a group of guests book, stay, and then more than 1 month after checkout falsely claim the money back from their card company. Of course this also shows how unfair it is that lawyers can take actions like this or defend actions for free and therefore have so much more power than us civilians. They should have to pay a fee equivalent to what we have to pay them or they will and do abuse this power
Anyone with enough legal knowledge can defend themselves - I'm not a lawyer (I hope to be when I can do a law conversion course) but I have helped many friends and their friends in family court where I have had more in depth knowledge than their own lawyers. And I have seen my own cases with housing and social services through to fruition when everyone (who has also had issues) told me it was pointless. If you know the law u know how to protect yourself and others.

This has happened to me several times when I was paypal only. I didn't have the wherewithal to sue them. Moving to Worldpay solved the issue. Not only was it a cost saving, but, touch wood, I've never had a chargeback (25k+ transactions).
I suspect that the cardholder was well aware of what they were doing - especially given the PIN code to the phone to confirm the initial transaction - and hoping that because of the small value of the transactions and the costs of disputing the chargebacks you would do nothing. If this happened to me, I would find it very annoying and there is large part of me that would want to sue them purely to stop them getting away with it even though it is not financially worthwhile.
Plus I don't think the seem to realise the charge back Daniel gets hit back costs more than each subscription did, plus the time he has to put into it.... How does anyone not realise what a Barrister like Daniel is worth in terms of time monetary wise Biiiggg ooopsie
Ta for taking the time and trouble. Banks need barristers, so they can investigate and prosecute fraud better. No-one is safe and, if ppl don't report and take action, better means of protecting everyone fail to be developed.
I was kind of in the opposite position. My credit card statement showed a payment I'd not made. The card was in my wallet. I have not used it online. The bank refunded me, and I received a new card. I've not heard anything since. But yep! I would rather be mugged in the street than behind my back..

I’ve been defrauded. Someone took my card details and it’s the second time. I found it and the bank didn’t. I’m deliberating changing banks. Second time in a matter of months. It’s terrible now.
I own and run a restaurant. Recently a customer raised a dispute for a chargeback over the meal. They came, all info tallied up, they ate, paid and left. All details matched. The customer then challenged it alleging non delivery of merchandise. Even if I win, I will be at a loss for time and money but I will challenge and I will win. There are no consequence for the disputee in this case, win or lose they are not out of pocket. They try their luck.
There is a third option. Some banks are incompetent. I once asked Chase to clarify a transaction I did not recognise and did not have a clear business or reference. All I wanted to know was which shop or business took the payment as I make hundreds of transactions. They put me on hold and did a chargeback without asking me.
The dispute fee Stripe charges actually goes to the card issuer. This was a recent change I believe they announced and explained in their support docs. Definitely sucks when someone claims fraud specially when there are so many indicators to say otherwise. While the decision will be down to the customers bank, be sure to submit as much evidence as you can through Stripe who will share that with the customers bank.
Shirley Campion: I am very sorry to learn that someone could do that to you. You give great guidance which is so useful to know and to let you know that I appreciate your videos very much thank you.

It's too easy now to fraudulently claim money back, either due to legislation or simply being too time consuming to actually investigate the banks basically just believe charge back claims. A few years ago this wasn't a problem, but now people are realising that they can fraudulently charge back and the system is broken.
The first 6 numbers of credit card identify the bank who issued the card. Maybe a letter to them explaining the chargebacks were fraudulent would be in order? And likely to embarrass the person who ripped you off....
If it was verified via 3ds then 100% you wont be held liable... In this case, it sounds like it was either a false fraud claim or a doozy on the banks part where theyve mistakenly reported something

I am so sorry you have had to go through this horrible experience. It doesn't matter what profession you belong to, you will still feel violated. I hope you manage to sort this really quickly.
These are just fillers to dilute the 'real food.'
Just try buying margarine that doesn't have rapeseed oil in it (the latter, when in crop form, is dessicated with 'Glyphosate,' of which traces stick to the seed, due to the nature of the seed coat itself.

I said the same but comment deleted maybe I offended someone who identifies as wood.
That’s awful. Good hard working and honest person as you are . I’m sorry this is happening.
My sister had a similar experience to you, and the card company traced it back to a purchase she had made online or over the telephone and the agent at the company from which she had made a purchase, he had used the details, including the security number to make a huge purchase of his own. Fortunately because it was a large amount, it was flagged at her credit card company.
Sick and dishonest people out there are disgusting.
Defrauding a literal Barrister seems like a rather dumb thing to do...
Lesson number 1: don’t try and defraud a barrister! They bite back!
😂
Sir, please hold these indecent people to account and show the way for others to do the same. Thank you, Lee
Ironic...if he gets the defrauder in to court, one of his colleagues will be trying to get him off 🤣
I got scammed last month. I have raised it with my bank and currently waiting to hear back about getting my £180.
Unfortunately that does NOT mean that you are guaranteed to have your money back
So awesome to see you mention this!
Huge thanks for purchasing this 🙌🏼
My pleasure - it's great and I use it every day! 🙏
I was victim of identity theft in 2008. Nothing the bank nothing police could do. Ended up paying it. Horrible.
I agree favouritism towards buyers when ebay take 10 %of your money anyway 😢

BBB, Incredible story ! Thank you for sharing and good afternoon from the U.S.A.
Go get ‘em BBB! It sickens me to my stomach that people will deliberately seek to defraud! How ON EARTH do we avoid this???
When will people learn to not be so trusting, or is it lazy. As we have seen from the PO scandal, you cannot trust anything but that which is on paper.
I have resorted to cancelling credit cards when certain websites ignored my repeated requests to not renew a subscription but its insane to lie to a bank about a card being stolen and try to get legit transactions voided. You could wreck your life.
I think many of us have been ripped off via the net. I have it just wasn't worth taking it further. That is how they score.
My dog wax attacked by another dog last week. Owner gave me false information, I’m now 2.5k worse off and more bills to come. Not even sure my dogs going to survive. Lies and dishonesty are the worst to be on thd end of is giving fake information/ contact details fraud? What a mess
So sorry to hear this. There's something to be said for extra judicial justice. So little actual justice gets achieved in our Judicial System.
It is frustrating 😑
I hope you have a successful outcome in this matter.
Just makes me angry....
Thank you for sharing & good luck, go get ‘em!
0:50... That is so tragic.. trying to scam a lawyer/barrister.. they will be no doubt crapping themselves when they get a letter through the post
It is wrong and we all loose out in the end because the banks / credit cards get it off of us in fees to cover the losses. Go for it, make a stand, and thank you for that 💓
Dishonest people are the lowest of the lowest particularly when they prey on the vulnerable disabled and elderly.
I ordered a high welfare turkey from a farm in Aberdeen, to be delivered by Fed Ex. The turkey did not arrive but I got an email saying it had been delivered. It hadn't!
English delivery drivers 😂
I have the exact same issue. I provide accommodation and we had a group of guests book, stay, and then more than 1 month after checkout falsely claim the money back from their card company. Scumbags and I've seen their faces and watched them smile at me while planning to defraud me for over 1000 dollars.
Wow every single thing nowadays seems open to some scheming scam 😒
@@wendymitchell4004 hopefully it's an open/shut case as I have them on record checking in but the stress between now and then, and with the money removed and held in escrow while case pending, is a difficult thing with no guarantee it will work out.

They probably reported the card as stolen as they are skint, therefore pursuing them is pointless.
We're all being defrauded, every time we pay council tax , energy bills ,interest on loans ,road tax , or purchase fuel , alcohol and anything with VAT added .
That's not exactly the same. Let's face it, not many of us enjoy paying bills and tax.

The reason we have to pay for services and utilities is very simple .USURY BANKING CARTELS.
our corrupt government borrows money at huge interest to run the country INSTEAD OF THE TREASURY ISSUING CURRENCY INTEREST FREE . All our taxes go to pay billions per week in usury interest to private banks..( please don't believe the bank of England is anything other than a private bank )....
Without this usury debt WE'D ALL HAVE FREE UTILITIES ,interest free mortgages etc.etc.etc... just like Germany had in 1933 when hitler closed the German central bank , and cancelled all usury debts...
THIS IS WHY THE ROTHSCHILD ZIONIST USURY BANKING CARTELS FORCED CHURCHILL TO DECLARE WAR ON GERMANY.
they could not allow debt free prosperity to spread across the world and remove their strangle hold on humanity .
So , I hope this clarifies the situation for you.
How many people that get sick from dishonest people buy fake knock off famous brand stuff?
Am I right in thinking that if they were found guilty of fraud in this way, The bank could close their account and they would find it hard to join any bank after that.
Dan love the video, you look to be an upstanding type. I'd hope that you are not left out of pocket. There is a lot of fraud about. Do you know how many on welfare are excused looking for work because of adictions, yet rehab/ help to kick the adiction is unthinkable
Yes, you shouldn’t lay down and accept fraud, I hope you succeed in putting them in their place.
Sorry to hear about this Dan. Fraud seems to be on the increase unfortunately. The only way to deal with it apart from suing of course which you are able to deal with more easily is to manage and keep your own integrity. X
I bet the “subscriber” didn’t expect that they have given BBB the potential for a great series of videos. This will be interesting. I bet Matey boy thought you would walk away. Here’s my prediction. Matey boy thought he’d save a few quid but instead of trying to do the right thing, he took a short cut. When the “heavy” letter arrives on Matey boy’s doormat I bet he will cough up. I also hope that the cost of trying to cheat you will be eye wateringly expensive for this miscreant. Secretly though I hope that this person tries a legal fight because this will make a great series.
Of course this also shows how unfair it is that lawyers can take actions like this or defend actions for free and therefore have so much more power than us civilians. They should have to pay a fee equivalent to what we have to pay them or they will and do abuse this power
Or you get a good lawyer and embarrass them when they lose the case 😂
Hell have no money left at the rate he's going after people.
Maybe it's all done to him deliberately...

It's all over the place ,we just don't have a great system ,if we all had one clear person and business ,the scammers couldn't clone , but I see a lot of American companies operating in Britain skanking people ,one is Unity, I'm outraged I'd ban them from operating , and if you complain ,they get worse, and it comes from bent government ,whome won't put in a place a system that protects people ,and you have to ask yourself why not .
I do sympathise it makes my piss boil , it's like there's no decency around anymore 🙌
If a fraudster is doing this sort of thing to someone like you, then God help the rest of us!
How does anyone not realise what a Barrister like Daniel is worth in terms of time monetary wise
Biiiggg ooopsie
That sort of fraud does happen. Usually by parter or family member doing financial abuse
Had this done to me on eBay a couple of times people get the good you sell them then reverse the payment and claim they haven't had the goods I stopped selling on eBay after that.
It happens to all of us, im just a thick trucker, im owed around 3k from the last twelve months and had no work this month (jan 24 ) so now out of pocket 7k in under a year! Life can be hard , i can go through the courts if i could afford a solicitor but both the guys that owe me money now one day theyll get a phone call and by then they'll be out of pocket and pay what i ask so they dont loose anymore money or down time for their companies

When its your own flesh and blood, what do you do? And you aren't the only one in the family!
What kind of an idiot decides to defraud a barrister? Today, we very nearly found out...😁
There is a third option.

They could have had a whole lot of fraud on their card and made a mistake when identifing what transactions were the fraud....I once had a whole lot of fraud on my card and I had to say "hang on that transaction was legitimate".
Could it not be the case that they look at their bank statement and don’t recognise the payment and so genuinely believe it was fraud?
Are you preparing your defence?
@@robertstorey7476 i may have had an item appear on my credit card saying LQP3DDKL7 that was it. I challenged it and eventually got the money back from my credit card company. Turned out it was a genuine transaction from Meta Oculus 🙄

Sympathy. Very annoying. Keep doing what you do. You contribute to making the world a better place.
If it was verified via 3ds then 100% you wont be held liable... In this case, it sounds like it was either a false fraud claim or a doozy on the banks part where theyve mistakenly reported something
