As someone who's hung around conservative circles, the fact that those newspapers didn't deadname Page doesn't really surprise me. A lot of right wing people (especially the young ones, like journalists) don't give a fuck about LGBT people. And I mean literally. They're like "you can exist but we're not fighting for your rights". Comparing that to Arielle, it just shows how low she goes.
I've seen so many news outlets doing really well but somehow the largest news outlet of the Netherlands deadnamed him and tried to justify it by saying that people wouldn't know who they meant -.-
This girl saying "we're losing all the lesbians" after Elliot coming out as trans has the same vibe as middle aged women saying "oh, what a waste" when a male celebrity comes out as gay, smh 🙄
@@ehsh3072 Well a number of sports personalities came out as gay after a few years into their careers. The phrase "what a waste" is quite prevalent and it's something I've heard a lot from women who find gay celebrities attractive and believe that because they're gay that somehow women are missing out, which is ridiculous. But, I don't really understand what you mean by all actors being gay once they've entered Hollywood, what does that mean?
Umm no, with that comparison you're equating a privileged overrepresented group - straight male celebrities - with lesbians, a discriminated minority with only a small representation. And TERFs like Arielle are waiting for that to use it as an ammunition in their propaganda. Because they're exploiting fears coming from actual issues - like misogyny from men and lesbophobia - but twist it to make it look like in the end it's trans people to blame for everything. There's very few out non-retired lesbian actresses in Hollywood, MUCH less than gay men or bisexual women, which makes them very precious role models for the community. And let's be honest, it's certain that many lesbians did feel disappointed for that reason with Page's coming out, since they lost a considerable part of their representation in Hollywood. But the reason of that disappointment is lesbophobia of the studios that prevents actresses from coming out, while people like Arielle try to turn that negative feeling against trans people, another discriminated minority with little representation.
Hey Noah. I’m a 64 year old guy, and I simply love the way you express your views so logically and well. Listening to you (and Corry) has been a huge eye opener and I’m totally supportive of your journey and also seeing how unpleasant most of your critics are. They are unable to be logical. Thank you for your ability to help.
I feel so bad for elliot cuz he's struggling enough already like being trans is clearly hard enough without having people getting annoyed at you cuz they've ''lost another lesbian icon'' like leave him ALONE
I wish people would just mind their own business. I am very glad that Elliot is now living his truth. I just wish people would literally stop saying "Oh, we lost another lesbian." Smh. It's so disrespectful.
Exactly it’s fucking ridiculous. As Noah said they didn’t fucking own him. He wasn’t a possession, he was a person. He is a person. It’s his right to be able to come out, to be able to have the world except him not have fucking idiots on the Internet bitch about how they’re losing an icon. I mean you don’t see us pansexuals whining about how if somebody comes out as pan to begin with and then they realize that they are actually lesbian or something else like that. It’s just stupid. It doesn’t affect her or anybody else in the lesbian community so it’s pathetic that she’s acting as if it does.
i can understand being upset at losing seeing yourself in a public person. that’s why elliot coming out inspired other trans folks to come out, because they could see themselves. what i don’t understand is making it publically known. that you’re grieving someone else’s coming out is your own issue and you need to process that on your own. also that they don’t realize how fucking weird it is to spend more than five minutes processing something that has literally nothing to do with you.
i don't understand why she is SO OBSESSED WITH LESBIANS. in 2015 before i was even out as trans, i was at an event and she made a comment about how "lesbian" i looked. i calmly said that the term "lesbian" made me feel uncomfortable and i just identified as "gay"(since she said it in front of a lot of people). She literally laughed in my face and said "no you are a lesbian" then followed me around for the rest of the night, making more and more comments about how something i was either doing or saying was "very lesbian". And just wouldn't let it go?? Everyone I opened up to about it at the event told me how she's transphobic so that probably had something to do with it. 5 years later and literally nothing 👏has👏changed👏
Jesus. The lesbians have disowned her now. If she says she is apart of the lesbians community she is not. She is apart of the TERF community and can shove her terrible opinions up her ass.
I swear, as a lesbian myself, that she is personally bringing our average intelligence down by at least 30%. I cannot describe how infuriating it is to just have to sit and watch her bring down the mental health and happiness in our friendly community, by displaying all kinds of phobia and obsession, and then still expect to be welcomed in by the rest of the LGBTQIA+. Anybody reading this, please have a good day and don’t let her stupidity change your opinion of anybody else.
@@alex-qd6of of course, thats not the point, its just that she is feeding into the idea that a lot of lesbians are transphobic especially since she is seen as a "lesbian icon" by some. which of course anyone in their right mind knows lesbians arent like that and she is part of a (very) loud minority of lesbians, but you have to think about the general population.
I was told by a teacher "you shouldn't care about these kinds of issues cause you're not gay nor trans. And if you are, the door is right there" Please keep in mind that this teacher knew my pronouns (they/them) and the fact he said that to ME... (I actually did walk out of the room)
I have a friend whose mom still doesn't call him by his name or talks to him in any friendly manner. It's been like 8 years or more since he started transitioning, I honestly can't even remember anymore because it's been so long yet his mom still acts like he somehow killed her daughter. Fuck parents like that and I told her as much to her fucking face, you all deserve better than this.
I've known people who are transphobic but not homophobic; but I've never known a homophobe that's not a transphobe. Edit: I'm not saying homophobes don't exist, I'm saying that usually people who are homophobic tend to also be transphobic at the same time, it's very rare for a homophobe not to be transphobic at the same time.
It's a bit rarer, but I have seen homophobic trans men before. It's could be an expression of internalised transphobia as well though, their idea that being a man who's into men is feminine and therefore you can't possibly be "a real man" and a tray.
Weirdly enough my dad is extremely supportive towards trans people (though he believes there are only two genders) but is extraordinary homophobic (but thankfully he believes that disrespecting and/or hating on people is a sin therefore he respects lgbtq members but doesn't approve it and strongly believes it to be wrong). But if i ever come out he will literally kill me. lol.
I've only met ONE de-transitioner and that person was forced into taking hrt against their will by a chaser partner. They put up with it for about a year then escaped. Her story was heartbreaking. Me, on the other hand, I'm happy to see my changes on hrt and constantly play with my beard. 1 year in 31 days!
Imagine me saying “we’re losing all the bisexuals” and making a video freaking out on all the lesbians who’ve used the label as a stepping stone to discovering themselves or coming out. :/// let people be, damn
As a bisexual I feel this is a superb comparison. All of my friends who identify as only being attracted to women have identified as bisexual once, and most of my friends who currently identify as bisexual are constantly questioning if they are really just lesbian 💀 you don’t hear me giving a heck
@Savannah Wells a lesbian? Is that autocorrect because I'm confused on what you are asking. In any case I hope it goes well and if they don't support you they don't deserve you.
Random story, my friend used to identify as lesbian but now she's bisexual. I could make a video crying abt the loss of a dear lesbian friend, or I could suck it up and support her lol
Hate to break it to you but the amount of bi ppl who get mad at others for using the label as a stepping stone is ridiculous it’s kinda become “a thing” now sadly but I agree with you
The thing is that Elliot Page is 33, has a very stable acting career, and has been out as a lesbian with an overwhelming amount of support for like 6 years. What would his motivation be to "decide" to come out as trans other than actually being trans? In my opinion there was a lot of risk in coming out as trans. I just don't get why he would do it if he didn't have to for his own mental well-being.
@@Envision_ Because the patriarchy is so much better for a trans guy... Well better than it is for trans women, but still bad I don't think Elliot will have it easier as the man he is than as the lesbian he thought he was. But I am happy he is finally able to be himself.
That is a fair point, because did Elliot ever actually say he was a trans man or non binary in his post? He could be non binary leaning masc for all we know.
@@Thekingofneedles I think Elliot didn't write "man" or "nonbinary" on purpose, because who was stopping them? It's a coming out post! Maybe nor "man" or "nonbinary" are fitting. He wrote "trans" and "queer", so maybe it's just it, the whole identity.
@@Thekingofneedles I believe he just said he was coming out as trans and identifies with he/they pronouns. So I think masc-nb is probably a close descriptor, but obviously nobody can really know his identity but him. (I used "him" etc a bunch so it didn't seem like i was generalizing and saying "noone can know their identity")
OMG, she triggered me sooooo bad! I was in year 10 when the AIDS Epidemic was going on in the late 1980s, and as gay men were dropping dead from AIDS...lesbians, bisexuals, and trans people stepped up and had our backs. So I’ve always felt very strongly that we’re ALL one community. So when I heard that she claimed Elliot was a loss to the lesbian community, it pissed me off ‘cause Elliot is still in OUR community!!! Sorry, I’m a cis-gay man and I hate when people try and divide OUR community ‘cause of all the people in the world, we’re supposed to have empathy for each other. Anyway, Noah, love your videos and you continue to show me what a good man you are at your core. Lotsa love and aloha from Honolulu! 😁❤️🤙🏽🌈☀️ (just symbols of Hawai’i)
Preach! They aren't becoming anything, because that's what they always were. They just discovered who they are. Hugs (edit: or just positive vibes to those who are touch repulsive!) to all my enby pals out there :)
Also quite a bit of (social) detransitioners who DO talk about detransitioning long term... they typically end up identifying as nonbinary or other genderqueer identities, rather than JUST binary trans people. :/
@@khicks4422 It's such a dumb "statement" with that video I thought "am I not a lesbian because I don't live in the USA ( I live in Colombia)? her logic is just unbelievable
As a trans man myself, I can't tell you how many times I have been told that I'm a misguided/lost lesbian. but ma'am....I'm engaged to a man...trans people can be gay
Yes, a friend of ours realized he was a man, but to him his gay identity is more important than the gender of his interest, so now he's a gay man, while he used to live as a lesbian. I'd say he is bisexual. But - who cares about labels?
Straight* You’re a heterosexual female. You’re not gay. You’ve possibly fetishized homosexuality, but that still isn’t gay. Ultimately, you will never be a homosexual and intrinsically you will always be different from a gay man.
Arielle saying that "oh kids are just being trans to be like everyone else" But Elliott is in his 30s... Like I'm sure he knows himself better than some terf on the internet Edit: "kids grow out of disphoria at 25" Again Elliott is in his 30'S WHY DRAG HIM INTO THIS
I love how her point was that school teachers will treat you better if you come out as trans - yes, I'm sure 33-year-old Elliott based his decision to come out on this. As we all know, the average 33-year-old is in school in Arielle's world.
I'm 34 and slowly coming out as nonbinary (although I've known for a long time). I was told by some internet stranger that I'm just a normal girl trying to be edgy. Oh please 😅 by this age I couldn't care less about being seen as cool or edgy or special.
Yeah I’m so happy!! Not about Arielle obviously but I checked and Google changed his name and pronouns and so have a lot of other sites :’) when you google a show or series he appeared in and click on his name it googles the deadname though :((
I saw one of those clickbaity articles from last year that was edited to include Elliot rather than his dead name, and he was only a small part of the article. If they can do it, anyone can refer to him by his name!

Dude I know that actor from umbrella academy and was shocked that he uses he/they pronouns but it makes me extra happy because I only knew like one other nonbinary actor
I believe it comes from compulsory cisgendered normativity. Transphobic cis people want trans people to just stay in the boxes of their respective birth-assigned genders usually because it brings them the comfort of the illusion of a world that makes more personal sense to them.

Actually it seems to be trans women thinking lesbians owe them something, or have you not heard of the cotton ceiling, or seen the vile threats lesbians receive for not liking the opposite sex 🤷♀️ so I’d say we want our sexuality to be respected like trans people want their gender identity to be respected. Not such a hard thing to understand really.
I’m a trans woman who came out as a lesbian - we’re literally right here and there’s loads of us. I would wager that for every queer woman coming out as a man, there’s a queer man coming out as a woman and a lesbian. You’re not losing any lesbians, you’re at a net parity of lesbians. The only problem is that these are people who don’t accept trans women as BEING truly “lesbian”, because she’s a terf. The only way in which you’re “losing lesbians” is the way in which you ostracise and kick lesbians out of the community by being a terf.
oh my gosh, I am going to use "net parity of lesbians" to piss off TERFs from now on. most of them are Marxists (Bakunin or bust please) and replace class with binary gender, talking to them in materialistic terms is all they understand.
just a friendly reminder (this isn’t targeted towards anyone specific, simply just a reminder) JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE MAD AT A TRANS PERSON DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO MISGENDER THEM.
Well, technically (in the US at least) you have the "right" to say whatever you want, that doesn't change the fact that its extremely rude and transphobic to misgender someone because you're mad at them.
saying you lost a lesbian when elliot page came out as trans is like saying the hets lose a straight person every time someone comes out as being something other than straight.
That's a false comparison given there are hundreds, thousands of celebrities that are straight. The ones that are lesbian? You can count them on one hand. You notice when one goes missing.
@TheIndelibleCaptain No, it's really not. It's fair to feel some kind of sadness if a person that represented you is lost. You can't have it both ways and say they're a new person now but that the old one isn't gone.
@@mechantechatonne Yeah, it really blows my mind how these supposedely progressive people don't see it. One one hand they're gonna be talking about representation in the media, and on the other hand you'll have Noah be like WELL EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU'VE LOST A LESBIAN SO WHAT????
@TheIndelibleCaptain No, you couldn't because 70% of people are straight, at least, so you are unlikely to find yourself at a loss of straight media representation or at a loss of a straight role model. You're making a false equivalency and pretending to not understand an obvious thing. He isn't under the obligation to do anything because people look up to him or find him relatable, just like people are not under any obligation to pretend they didn't notice losing one of the only out lesbians in Hollywood.

My mom said I was just a confused tomboy and I was like "If you'd call me Tom, I'd take any name at this point" she did not laugh 😅 But, there's a difference in wanting a willy and wanting to dress boyish. I used to wear a ton of bras and a shirt under my shirts to act as a diy binder, couldn't breathe at all and it was hard to take them all off, If I could get an actual binder and used it responsibly (taking breaks, coughing, etc.) It would be better on me, it still hurts to breathe heavily. some transmen dont even want willys because body parts arent gendered. I know transmen that kept their breasts and happily show them with bras and what nott cuz breasts arent a woman thing
people like Arielle are the minstrel voices that make the majority feel like it's ok to continue to deny people simple things like proper binding, built by trans people for trans people.

I wanna point out that Noah had to have gone through hell to find all the sources Arielle uses in her video. She doesn't name, reference or link any data she uses, and it makes it ten times harder to check and look through every source. Noah has not only filmed and responded to the video, but also done research that Arielle does not do. Kudos, I got a headache every time I did that

A trans man, was a female with a Virgina. Okay, so you begin taking T cut your hair.. feel like a man inside, then yo say you are a gay man. The problem with that is, you have a Virgina still, a ‘gay’ partner will have a penis, so when you put a penis in a Virgina, that is not gay sex. It’s HETRO sex. Unless he prefers your bum of course. & for a gay man to go with you, if he penetrates your Virgina, that makes him into HETRO sex, you can both deny it all you like, unless he’s Into gay men sex of course. Because gay men do not want female parts or brain as a partner. You’re more confused than you think.
I ....I love women...I love feminine things....I wouldnt mind being a woman...I'm a huge feminist...but I'm still a (trans) guy cause ?? I dont feel like a woman lmfao?
it also just assumes that all trans men are attracted to women? i’m a bisexual trans man with a boyfriend. i can’t possibly be a lesbian with internalized misogyny ? she makes no sense
That shit drives me so bonkers, as well. I literally thought I was a straight girl all through middle and high school. It was only after I started transitioning that I began to recognize my attraction to anyone OTHER than men lmao
I can tell you why I didn't realize/come out, even though the clues have been there. As a woman, you can wear mens clothing with few repercussions. I've been around since the 70's, where pant suits were the thing, and jeans. I got lucky. Men had some pretty good clothing, but they couldn't wear a dress. I don't think they would be accepted. But I have never worn dresses and always been accepted. Had short hair, been accepted. I'm 100% sure, if I was a teen, I would have tried to get puberty blockers. I'm used to navigating the world as I am now, a fairly non binary person with generous attributes that I freaking hate. My kids accept me, that's all that really matters.
I too and older and non-binary trans. I think part of the reason people think we don’t exist is because generally speaking kids on tik tok seem to be the loudest most colorful representations of NB people. Nothing wrong with that but it’s just so disheartening to hear that non binary people are only teenage “girl” cashing in on a trend
I knew she'd leave out all the "Trans people keep getting killed and stuff" section of Elliott's post, she can't even risk educating people in her videos.
Detransition myths make me so anxious. Despite my major dysphoria and euphoria 99% of the time I am left constantly doubting myself because 'many people regret transitioning'
Honestly, even if detransition rates were higher, I don't necessarily think that would be such a bad thing. People change. We explore shit. People get stupid tattoos that stay with them for the rest of their lives. Yeah sure it's better to *not* make a permanent physical change that you want to reverse later down the line, but if you do, it shouldn't be made out to be this life-destroying thing. Plastic surgeries and hip replacements have pretty high regret rates, but they're deemed as coming with the territory. People should be allowed to detransition without being claimed as proof that "transitioning is an evil that can only do harm." It's only because our existence is constantly being put up for debate that detransition is made into this existential crisis at all, when it really doesn't need to be Also, quick note how social pressure and "reidentification" are some of the main causes for detransitioning, so one of the best ways to minimise it is *drumroll*...don't be a dick to trans people and let them explore their identities without trying to ram them into a pink or blue box. Imagine that Idk if any of that made sense but fuck it I'm screaming into the void and you lit can't stop me
@@agirlthatstrans7815 yea that’s what I tell myself and tbh not transitioning because I have a 10 percent chance of regretting it are pretty good odds in my books and I’d rather have a pretty high chance of feeling better than carrying on with the amount of dyshoria I have lol

I went to a gender clinic/psychiatrist and they had the "born in the right body" mentality, the thing is... they said "your body is yours, your body is not wrong you just have to make it yours. You can change your body match your mind!"
In my country, the most advanced in terms of trans laws (although still very transphobic) trans youth are taught this kind of mentality. We don't even have to want to change our bodies to match what society tells us a "man's body" or a "woman's body" is. I believe this helps reduce self-harming behaviour and also boosts confidence. Our bodies are beautiful and valid. If we want to change them, fine, but if we don't, that's fine too
"why are women identifying as anything other than lesbians?" Uhm as a trans guy I'd give literally anything to just be a cis lesbian so.. (BTW I'm not saying this is universal or anything, personally I'd just prefer to be cis because transphobia and dysphoria suck)
Man I get it. I would rather be a cis lesbian too. I realized who I was a couple days after I came out as a lesbian because I sorta realized that I had been hiding my identity sexually and probably was doing the same thing with gender (I identified as anything but a lesbian for a long time because I grew up religious and it wouldn't be "sinful" to like women as long as I never acted on it or something so I convinced myself I was bi and I would just only date men). I haven't come out as trans yet but I have talked to some of my cousins about transness and they said both straight up transphobic things and sort of dumb transphobia, like my cousin starting with saying he wouldn't date a trans woman with a penis because she has a penis (which is fine, he doesn't like penis thats okay i dont either) but he would date a woman who had fully transitioned because she "would get to pick her p***y". Him and another guy brought up chromosomes later on too but thankfully my other cousin shut it down by saying "chromosomes literally don't matter and also intersex people" (not exactly that but you get the idea). I might argue with transphobes more often if they didn't use the exact same arguments every time. I'm planning on coming out closer to Christmas because my little sister is giving me a trans pride flag that I'll have to open in front of everyone so..
I think she just wanted the clout tbh. Elliot was trending so she hoped on the bandwagon just to shout her transphobia. If she hadn't have mentioned him, she probably wouldn't have gotten half the clicks she did

i think they were just saying that misgendering nonbinary people who aren’t girls is harmful and wrong. you can be nonbinary and a girl, there’s zero problem with that, but the clip is basically saying that nonbinary people aren’t nonbinary and are just confused girls. i don’t know if that made sense. anyways i hope you have a really good day or night or afternoon, whichever time zone you’re in. :)
@@lafunk1978 not every nonbinary person’s gender is entirely separate from the binary categories. in other words, even though nonbinary means someone’s gender identity isn’t exclusively male or female, some nonbinary people are both a girl and nonbinary or a boy and nonbinary or a girl and a boy simultaneously or on a fluctuating basis, without a “neutral” kind of gender. gender is a very personal thing and it varies a lot from person to person so everyone experiences it differently. it’s also a question of comfort, so make sure to check with the person you’re referring to if they’re comfortable being called a girl or boy or gendered words, or if they’d rather you refer to them with gender neutral language. hope that helps. a great resource if you’re curious about nonbinary terms or people is Nonbinary Wiki (nonbinary.wiki/wiki/Main_Page ). hope you have a great day/night/afternoon. :)
I mean, demigirls exist! I call myself a dude/man/boy even though I'm on the enby spectrum because I'm a demiboy. But that depends if that person gave consent to this kind of label, and it's known that it's the proper way to address them. If they're a they/them person (edit: or neopronoun person!) that doesn't identify with any of these binary inclined labels, it's straight up wrong.
people seriously need to leave elliot alone! he was never lesbian, he was misidentifying himself, and i'm super happy that they found their true identity. also i think it's important to normalize straight trans people because they are just as much members of the lgbtq+ community as anyone else, and it must SUCK to have to come out as both lesbian and then later trans, or trans and then straight. also also i'm a bisexual bigender person who just found your channel and uh i wanna say that i'm thoroughly enjoying your videos :)

The irony of Arielle calling trans men "internally misogynistic women" when the root of all transphobia AND HOMOPHOBIA is inherently misogynistic is absolutely mind-blowing.
@@zombiedude9826 think about the kinds of words that homophobes ascribe to gay men (sissy, pussy, fairy) these are words that are meant to denigrate gay men (or straight men who dont carry their masculinity to the cishet standard) by comparing them to women. Lesbians are either ignored completely since they are of no use to straight men or are treated as a challenge to their manhood. Out bisexual men are rejected in a similar way as gay men and bisexual women are not taken seriously. Out trans men are not taken seriously by terfs and transhobes (as we can see from this video) and trans women are violently hated by transphobes in the same way that gay men were prior to the gay rights movement. People born with penises are very much expected to be the opposite of women and deviating from that expectation causes such great violence because of misogyny. By the same token, people born with vaginas are expected to fulfill specific roles to the benefit of straight cis men and rejecting that marginalizes them even more than they already were because of misogyny. I hope this ramble made sense lol

The fact that conservative newspapers didn't use Elliots deadname and this "activist" youtuber did. Embarrasing.

Seriously. When my cousin sent me the first article I saw about it, I was like "oh my god, they didn't dead name him. Journalists are learning!"
same i was so happy !!!
Oh shit, i forgot that girls do this all the time. It just happened recently with Lil Nas X. I never got that and it scares me
@depressed bisexual ik that.
WHAT THE HELL does your comparison mean? middle aged women get upset that actors are gay? arent all actors gay once they hit hollywood?

That's a false comparison given there are hundreds, thousands of celebrities that are straight. The ones that are lesbian? You can count them on one hand. You notice when one goes missing.

Detransition myths make me so anxious. Despite my major dysphoria and euphoria 99% of the time I am left constantly doubting myself because 'many people regret transitioning'
The amount of detransitioners is very very very low . More then 90 percent of trans people will not regret it .
@@agirlthatstrans7815 thanks, it's good to keep things in perspective like that
Honestly, even if detransition rates were higher, I don't necessarily think that would be such a bad thing. People should be allowed to detransition without being claimed as proof that "transitioning is an evil that can only do harm." It's only because our existence is constantly being put up for debate that detransition is made into this existential crisis at all, when it really doesn't need to be
Also, quick note how social pressure and "reidentification" are some of the main causes for detransitioning, so one of the best ways to minimise it is *drumroll*...don't be a dick to trans people and let them explore their identities without trying to ram them into a pink or blue box. Imagine that

In my country, the most advanced in terms of trans laws (although still very transphobic) trans youth are taught this kind of mentality. :)

@@zombiedude9826 think about the kinds of words that homophobes ascribe to gay men (sissy, pussy, fairy) these are words that are meant to denigrate gay men (or straight men who dont carry their masculinity to the cishet standard) by comparing them to women.
