This video is intended to be an introduction into the Godox X series in 2018. There is discussion points on the Godox X1-T, XT32, XPro, transmitters. The TT350, V350, TT685, TT600, V850II, and V860II Speedlights. And the AD200, AD360II, AD600, and AD600 Pro monolights as well as compatible accessories.
I can't get over how much info is in this video. I need to watch a few more times with my notebook.
Perfect clarity. No wasted chitchat. My kind of video. Thanks!
Godox should seriously link to your videos on their website. I was trying to figure something out about studio lighting a few months back and it took forever. You answered it in under 9 minutes.
I came here because I was thinking about buying an AD600 Pro but in the process found out why I've been having trouble with me TT600's. I did not know that they do not have HSS on camera!!! I was wondering why I was getting differing results with those flashes and could not figure out why. Totally makes sense now!
Such great information and is helping me choose some lighter gear for aircraft travel.... Just a point to note for those that may try to do so - the Bowens S mount Adapter will only work with the current Bowens S Modifiers on the market. It will not work with traditional studio Bowens S modifiers. If in doubt - take a look at your modifier and if you see that the three Bowens type square mount blocks are riveted on to the unit - then this prevents them being used with the Godox Adapter.
You need to create a 2021 update guide. This video helped me so much when i was shopping. Great content.
AD 200 was the reason I left pocket wizards, alien bees including off camera speedlight setups which special brackets were used. Its just sick. It was like something dreamed up a decade earlier.
Well explained. 8 mins ago I didn't know much about Godox. Now I can go buy with confidence. Thank you.
Hi Sir, i see many videos on Godox Flashlights but i was not clear everything. After the watched your i clear each and everything.... Thanks.. Very useful information for me
I'm in the market to purchase a Godox flash at the moment. Your video really clears up the flash system nomenclature. Thank you!
Great guide! I was looking into their product line, and was trying to wrap my head around the differences between flashes and strobes. This was very helpful! Thanks! :)
This was exceptionally helpful, thanks. I'm moving from Nikon to Fuji and was initially planning on keeping my speedlights if they communicated (which I read they do)...now I think I will sell and get Godox stuff. Godox should pay you for this vid, it's better than any of theirs.
Hello Mr. Hall!
First I want to thank you for your volume of videos and their detail!
I guess I'm considered an enthusiast and was wanting to simplify my lighting. After spending hours pouring over yours and other videos, I purchased 2 AD200s and the R2PRO-N transmitter. So far, I love them!! I was going to get the V860II but decided to wait to see how the round head works out. Finally, if I need it I will also pick up their XPLOR 600 PRO. Everything works with one system! It doesn't get any easier than that!!
I have a couple points to share relating to the XTR16 and don't know how / where else to do it. Please forgive me.
1) I bought an XTR16 to work with an older Streaklight 360. Setting the channel is not intuitive, but once you get it right the unit works very well, at least for normal flash. Thanks to Adorama support for guiding me on this. There's a link entitled "Channel Guide Download Here" on the Adorama XTR16 page that guides you on how to set the channel.
2) It also turns out that the R2 PRO-N does not talk to the XTR16 when in HSS. Adorama confirmed this and will be asking for a firmware fix (they said Canon works correctly). However, they implied I should not hold my breath.
Again Thank you for what / all you do!!
Excellent as always Robert. i use godox for so long now and not even the cheapest product never disappointed me
I've been impressed with everything, especially with the price!
Robert you've done it AGAIN!! HOW is it that you drop these videos JUST when I need them lol!! Thanks as always, and you've GOTTA get Godox to make you an Ambassador!!
So glad to hear it helped, but no ambassadors for me. I want to keep my relationship with photography gear with no strings attached. You never know what comes out tomorrow!
You're kidding me...he did this and he's not an ambassador?
I hope they paid him for this content...it's so damn helpful
Fantastic video, very clear, comprehensive and helpful summary. Worth noting is that Adorama's "Flashpoint" is rebadged Godox, the devices are interchangeable and they offer pretty solid telephone support. Also that putting an external head onto the Ad600 cuts the power in half, but of course can prevent a catastrophic tipping over of the light stand .... .
Robert great presentation and information as always, if you don't mind I would like to add a few things. Both the TT600 and TT685 are AA batteries only they both have external power ports which the V series does not, this allow the TT series to use the Godox PB-960 and PB-820 for 1 second recycle times and both are HSS with the TT685N having Nikon's Auto FP. and Godox just released the Godox EC-200 extension head Witstro AD200. Keep up the great work.
Thanks champ, this was exactly what I was looking for.
They should use this vid on the Godox website...answers so many questions
Great video! I think this is the perfect video for people who want to get into the Godox system. If anyone asks me about acquiring location lighting I now have the perfect video to point them to. Thanks, Robert!
Yes Gerald, I needed something that acts as an introduction because I still get so many questions for people just now discovering. Thanks for sharing!
Bought Godox and i am not going to leave them
Panha veng But... But... you’re going to hurt ProFoto owners feelings!!! 😂
The camera store where I work has just picked up the Godox line. I have been searching unsuccessfully to find out the difference between the AD600B and the AD600PRO.
Thank you for answering that question. I could not find the answer anywhere else!
Well prepared, good delivery, great structure! Really awsome video, I found it very helpful. Thanks Robert!
I've really enjoyed your surveys, tests, and evaluations of the Godox line. The AD200 core system is my new "do anything" flash system, replacing my behemoth Flashpoint monolights for both in and out of studio. I am able to run with cameras, two AD200's, dual head, trigger, modifiers, stands and 24" ParaPop in and strapped to a LowePro roller! Love the flexibility, power, and universal transceiver controllers. One item that is shipping any day now is the remote head attachment for the AD200. I have one on order from Adorma and look forward to you reviewing it when you get your hands on one!
Hey Dave, glad you're enjoying all the gear. It's certainly changed how I work and really reduced the amount of gear I need to haul around. I'm headed to New York today and the fact that I can get away with a full location setup in my carry-on is awesome.
Curious, as you've expressed interest, what you see the best use case for the AD200 remote head attachment. Is it to reduce weight on the top of the stand to prevent tipping? I love the AD200's form factor and personally would rather work without the cable, - though I still see the benefit when its windy out. I'm curious to hear others opinions who are looking forward to buying it.
Robert Hall Photography Hey Robert, yes I received the remote head and it actually allows camera top use with battery on a swivel or sling setup of your liking, using the 1/4" thread mount, although I'd like to see Godox make a little strap setup. Also, the remote head also provides for putting the head in tighter spaces for accent lighting, etc. Love your channel - keep up the great work!
Your video by far the most clear and informative explanation, This is what I needed when I'm researching for godox flash and trigger. it was difficult to find information and comparison between godox models and their compability.
Well you've found the right channel for godox discussion!
This was laid out the way I appreciate it being arranged in my brain, good work!
Bruh.....this was fantastic. You quickly addressed and answered every question I had in my mind as I watched. I just hit the subscribe button. I look forward to your content sir.
THANK YOU! Using 180/360 Bare bulbs since a while but looking to add 600 series for my field work. And you put back the 200 on my radar. Great to have an overview over Godox' rather confusing model numberfunc cosmos.
Thank you Robert, this video clarified a lot of information for me and now I know which lighting I want to purchase for my photography.
I just did a test... I have a TT360C (Canon) and fire it with the XTPro (Canon) trigger. I also have a Sony A6500 and an XTPro (Sony) trigger. From my testing, it appears that the tt360 (Canon) flash can be triggered, off camera, with the A6500 in Manual mode, Including HSS, by using the XTPro(S) trigger. I have not tested this unit in TTL with the Sony trigger and Sony A6500 camera since I generally use my off camera flash in manual mode...
The Godox/Flashpoint system is the best thing since sliced bread. There is a plethora of great and relatively inexpensive modifiers available within this system.
I now have a pair of TT865 flashes (one Canon and one Sony), a TT860 flash along with three TT350 flashes (2-Sony and 1-Canon). Since I normally shoot with a pair of cameras; I have one Canon X-1 trigger and a pair of XTPro Triggers (1-Canon and 1-Sony). When I get my second Sony camera, I will equip it with another XTPro trigger Or perhaps just use one of the TT350S flashes as the trigger.
I have a wonderful array of lighting equipment which I got at a very reasonable price.
You mean the AD360II or TT350?
Either way, everything is TTL/HSS convertible now as long as firmware is updated. This happened back in 2017. So as long as your master flash / trigger has the proper shoe to match up to the camera you use, the receiving unit ("TT360") will convert TTL and HSS signals regardless of what brand it's designated for. You should see on the screen that when it detects being triggered by an XProS, the C on the LCD is replaced by an S because it recognizes the Sony signal.
Although I knew most of this, I still have to say that it's a pretty useful video, good job! One thing that I might add is that any of the brand-specific hotshoe flashes are this way only because of the hotshoe - otherwise, off-camera, they should work fine with other brands even with TTL as long as the transceiver on the camera is right (i.e. a V860IIC should work fine off-camera with a Nikon body and an XPro-N).
My 685S is great. Works very well. My first ad200 didn’t work out of the box. I want to order another, but I’m skeptical now.
don't order another, get it replaced. Theres no defense for that.
The s-mount adaptor is one of my best purchases this year, I own 3 already for speedlights + modifiers.
Hi Robert, u’ve nailed it man. One stop shop explanation for all the Godox models. Thx a million !!!
Great video Robert. You are solely responsible for me moving over to the Godox system and I’m currently using 2xAD200, B2 head, X-Pro-O and X-Pro-S, v350o and V860iiS. My only minute criticism is you didn’t mention the EC200 extension head for the AD200. Last thought you would when you spoke of the head for the AD600’s
Other than that fantastic. Keep up the good work.
Yup I intentionally avoided the EC200 because it’s still unclear what its complete capabilities are. Some prototyping suggests shoe capabilities, others counter that. So rather than assume (like everyone did on the AD-B2) I’m waiting till it’s in my hands to talk about it.
Robert Hall Photography I’ve got ONE, but I would’ve bought TWO if they’d fit side by side in the B2. First dropped ball for Godox on that design oversight methinks
You’ve got one?? From who, I was told they weren’t even shipped yet. Hmm, weird - so is it a cold shoe or hot shoe on it?
Robert Hall Photography I’ll take a look. It literally arrived with me in London last Saturday as we were about to fly to Cancún for a week so I threw in my luggage and haven’t even used it yet. But I will and let you know.
Confirmed, it’s a cold shoe with a thread for optional lighting stand mounting. I’d attached a photo but you can’t in RUclips comments.
Thank you. Been trying to figure out the differences but is hard with small spec sheet
Dude! this video is the most informative and helped a ton. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful
Just bought into the Godox system. Wish I'd had this a month ago. Nice overview.
Lol I've tried to stay current. But a catalog video is only necessary every so often.
Good video. Only thing missing is maybe mention which one to get for which type of photography .like RE in small homes use the af300. Weddings use this or that one. Outdoor portrait photographers use the 600 pro etc,
Yeah I don't do that because how much to carry is an individual tolerance with such a wide range.
@@robhallphoto what would you suggest for me? My weight tolerance is light to medium i guess. I like fujifilm, i have a xt2 and xh1. So smaller and lighter than dslr's but not as light as a xt30 for example. My most used lenses are the 16-55 and the 90. Two of the heavier fuji lenses, not as crazy as the 100-400 but not as light as the f2 primes. I do use a zhiyun crane v2 for shoots but for long weddings eventually i get tired and just use ibis on the xh1 and the 18-55 and handhold it.
I'm thinking the ad200 but maybe that's not powerful enough? Not sure. I already have a godox v860ii flash as well.
Helped me quickly understand the whole Godox ecosystem. Cheers!
This was a great video man. Not many YT'rs explain the Godoxx lighting systems and how they have evolved. I was always wondering if pocket wizards were still needed with these new Goddox lights, but as you've said, the transmitter is built in now on all of their flashes.
blaaahhh to pocket wizards. Haven't touched them in 4 years! I would not consider a system these days unless the receiver was built into the slave unit!
This really clarifies things . Thanks so much Robert . Your photos look great too.
Thank you so much for this video! I used the links below and bought me a bunch of flash gears.
The godox flashpoint system is by far the best system for a working pro!!!!!
Agreed. So much performance/$
Thank you for that insight on the Godox as I'm thinking which one to get.
Nice to meet you yesterday Rob... oh yea, Cole Haan has a new customer lol!!!
Awww yeah. I need a Zero Grand affiliate link I recommend them to everyone! You seemed to have an appreciation for street style as well so you should check out the GrandMotion Knit too. A bit more casual and definitely inspired by the Ultra Boost craze.
Loved it! A wonderful summary of all Godox products.. pretty much Godoxopedia :). By the way, love the lighting in your recent videos.. you might want to show us the lighting setup some time :). Keep on giving us these wonderful videos.. Thanks Rob! :).
Haha, thanks i'm loving the lighting too. I still tinker quite a bit. I have one gelled LED overtop my head lighting the wall/desk behind me. Then a 25" softbox on the AD600 Pro LED (at 20% to avoid the fan from coming on). And I've used all sorts of leds as the rim light, but in this video i'm using the LC 500 which I like best because it's so easy to get a tight beam of light using the barn doors.
Hey Rob, thanks for sharing the lighting setup :).
This was VERY helpful! Wish I had know all this sooner but glad I came across it!
Excellent ... edit the video and add AD 400 to make it completely up to date..
Nah. Times change. Still can’t even buy an AD400 Pro yet anyways.
Hey man, this overview is exactly what I needed. Thanks so much. I have subscribed.
Also, I have a really old collection of Godox monoblocks using the USB form factor receivers. They have no model number on them but the receivers look like the XTR16 and have 433MHz on them so I don't think they are compatible, but none the less, I could easily replace them with XTR 16 units and I will be good to go with a new Godox system. They really are the best bang for buck and great quality as well. I've been using those monoblocks for years, they should be dead by now LOL.
Hi Robert, thank you for all these detailed reviews.
In this days I've been trying to complete a basic photography set up for my graphic studio and your tutorials are making this crazy idea of mine less suicidal!!! For the type of shooting i am going to deliver, the most important issue will be colors stability. I understand that Godox AD600pro is pretty good at this, but I do not really need a portable flash, so I wonder which non-portable model is as stable as the AD 600 pro, if anyone. Thank you again!! Simon
I love your videos so much, they're so helpful! Thank you for doing what you do sir!
Happy to do it, thanks for watching.
Good overview. You left out the newly announced remote head for the AD200.
Well, I haven’t been hands on with it yet so I’m waiting for final design. There’s some confusing aspects such as photos with it on top of a camera (which doesn’t make sense because how would you then trigger the AD200 it’s hooked up to?).
Super helpful...I have two of the V860IIs and love them!
Glad you found it helpful!
Excellent and clear description Robert!
Thank you!
Great clear and concise breakdown.
THIS IS WHAT I NEED. THANK YOU!
Will GODOX provide a means of remote triggering the camera and flashes simultaneously, say using the controller to camera via a short cable cable to the camera's sync connection - like the YONGNUO does now? I have a mixed system where I am using AD200 and AD400 triggered by YongNuo 603N 3 remotes that connect by cable to the flashes. Ideally, I would use the GODOX controller in the camera hot shoe with a cable to the camera, then the GODOX could control the power and firing of the AD200 and AD 400 and the Yongnuos could be set to S1 sync.
Can you do a video on how you use your light meter with your Godox flashes?
I covered metering, and there’s nothing inherently special about using Godox lights when using a meter. I simply use the trigger and hit the test button.
I have been considering some Godox gear, so this was really timely; thanks! You have a new sub too ...
Really good video. I miss LED for AD200 and AD600E in the video
I don't have too much enthusiasm for that AD200 LED, and honestly I forgot about it. I also intentionally left out the AD600M / AD600 (with Godox mounts) because they just cloud the discussion and are rarely purchase (also not sold by the big US distributors anyways). As for the AD600E, has that ever made it to anyone's hands?
I actually bought an AD600E and ADH600E (remote head) in may and I like it. I really like that the flash can be controlled by Canon´s old optical speedlite controll system. That way I can use the AD600E as key light together with a bunch of old Canon speedlites for fill and background light. It works great indoors. I also got two X1R-C and the X-Pro for triggering a couple of Canon 580EXII together with the AD600E outdoors.
Can you do a video on the X1-R? I'd especially like to see how it does as a remote trigger for cameras
Great summary video of Godox eco system.
Thank you!
The V350 has the same output of the larger ones? If so why not go with that one since it is so compact?
No, it doesnt.
Just what I needed at the exact time. Thanks!
Thx for an educational and well explained video! I think Im going to buy the AD200 to use with Fuji x-t3. :)
My friend lent me his Canon 430EX iii. I'm currently learning about flash photography but I i'm interested in doing product and portrait photography. Can I use different brands of flashes and make them both flash simultaneously or do they need to be Godox brands only?
Thanks :)
I have a canon 580ex speed lite can or be used with a Godox X2t C trigger to fire with my other Godox flashes, I also have a Godox XProC trigger. Can it be used to fire the Canon flash if it is on the X2tc trigger? Thank you for all your videos!
You're the real MVP
:) Thank you
Hey Robert. I just recently started shooting interiors. I’m currently using Yongnuo 560s manually/Phottix triggers/Pentax system and I shoot using a one light technique/layer masking in post. I’m wanting to step up the lighting but not sure which one of these to I should choose. I was thinking AD200. Will the AD600 fit with Pentax? Thoughts? Your insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
This is extremely helpful. Thank you!
Great job Robert.
What light do you use to make this video ?
Thanks 🙏🏽
Super useful video! Thanks Robert!
So what’s the big difference between the AD600BM and the AD600 Pro? These letters I swear be throwing me off. I seen that the AD600BM is about $300 cheaper than the AD600 Pro. Is one truly meant for the studio and one solely for outside? It gets confusing. I’m new to this and just got a AD200 Pro and looking to get a more powerful light and I see most have the AD600 which one I don’t know but they have one 😂 So figure eventually I’m gonna need one too. Can you offer any insight on the matter? Thanks Rob
Hi again Robert,
Am i right in thinking that you can't use the AD200 as a slave?
Thanks,
Stuart..
I was so fucking confused with Godox lineup, but this video help me a lot!! Thank you
Glad you found it!
Robert, I need help. I see Advertise Godox V860III-S and Godox V860III-S GN60 . Are the same.??
HI. Nice videos !! Do you think 3 Godox SK400 II are good to start a non pro home photo studio ? (Just fur fun and pleasure)
Hi. I got the Xpro flash trigger. What trigger do I need to get to work a Bowens flash light. It's confusing! Thank you
ADORAMA is offering a AD600 Pro that is NON-TTL. Is there reason to believe that the same might be done for the AD400? Finally, since so many people I know remove the fresnel head, don't use the bare bulb tube, and then buy the round head. It would be nice if I could purchase what I use rather than discard what I pay for but don't use. What do you think?
It's definitely possible that they could be cooking up a manual only Xplor 400 Pro. I haven't heard anything yet but, I also wasn't expecting the manual 600 either.
I also wish they did a round head only deal on the AD200 for those interested, and I'm surprised they haven't offered it yet.
which one of those 6 flashes work for my camera
Hi thank you very much for your valuable information brother 🙏
Can we use both the Ad200 and v350 at a time for the 2 Light setup for outdoor shoots.
Damn that was Official should I go with Godox or Flashpoint I think one is B&H and the other is Adorama? Using a Sony A6500 and going to a Sony A7III thanks also use a Nikon D7200 will I be able to use the 600 series the way you mentioned the 200 is not Camera specific thanks
There’s really no advantage to choosing between the two, it’s the exact same product in a different box. I have purchased all Flashpoint simply because they had it first and I’ve enjoyed my customer service with them. They automatically sent out handles to everyone who didn’t originally get one with the AD600 Pro, and solved other manufacturer oversights in the past. I’ve got a all the Flashpoint equivalents linked in the description.
And yes the 600 is also not brand specific so that’s safe cross brand as well.
Thanks for the reply I will follow your lead and go with Adorama
hello, the E5 code is appearing on my godox v860II. How to solve this problem?
excellent recap, Thank You!
Genious! Thanks for the clear overview...
Thanks for watching!
Fantastic explanation man!!! Thank you.
Great Video. I have a Godox 360 version 1 . Any thing that I can do to make it work with the X system?
7:18
Thanks.
Is there any way to extend wireless range? Like how with pocket wizards you can add ones in between and it helps carry the signal along to the flash really far away.
Excellent summary! Thanks!
Thanks a lots 💓 you are the best for real 🌸😌.
Hi Robert. Great videos. I wanted to ask you what would your recommendation be on the V1 vs AD360? I want it for event photos, food photography and boudoir. So mostly close quarters. Thank you in advance
What ajalbetjr said v. And I think my head is going to explode with all this great information. THANK YOU!
Thanks man for this video
u r life savior ❤️🔥
shared it with all my photographer friends.
So glad it helped you out, thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for such a clear explanation of Godox gear!! Question, I already own the X1 transmitter & Godox TT685. If I were to add both the Flashpoint eVOLV 200 TTL and the Flashpoint XPLOR 400 Pro, will my X1 work with all 3 of these simultaneously? Thx!!!
yes
Can you mix an AD200 and an AD200Pro on an AD B2??
I use Nikon and Sony. I was looking into getting the AD200 Pro and buying XPro controllers for both systems, but if I have say a Nikon version of a speedlight and a Sony version of a speedlight as extra units, will the XPro be able to control them both with TTL? Example using the XPro-N on my Nikon with a TT600N and a TT600S with TTL off camera? Or only manual?
anything off camera is fully functional regardless of brand, as long as the proper transmitter (whether trigger or speedlight) is connected to the camera. This includes TTL and HSS, it converts the signal. It's been this way with the X series since around 2017ish.
i like taking pictures at night and i have a canon 400d 10.1 megapixel camera and the flash on it is solid but i want a better flash so when i take pictures at night it will be better. i don't mind buying double a batteries but i want to know which one to use
Each of the 6 flashes has a version for each camera. So if you selected a TT685, you would want a TT685-C for Canon.
@@robhallphoto Neewer TT560 Flash Speedlite for Canon what you think about this flash i'm cheap lol i'm not spending nothing over 150
You're the best!!! 💪🏻 💪🏻 💪🏻
Thanks for watching!
Excellent video. Thank you
