Every year, we celebrate the memory and legacy of McDonald's Owner Operator Lloyd Frazier. In 2024, we honor his son, Steven Frazier, as a second-generation McDonald's Owner Operator. Steven Frazier grew up inside McDonald’s. As the child of a McDonald’s Owner/Operator, Steve looked up to his dad and saw how hard he worked to run his businesses, feed his community, and support his family. Steve’s dad, Lloyd Frazier was a hero to Steven-and to many. In 2001, One of Lloyd’s restaurants, located on Greenwich and Chambers Streets in Lower Manhattan, stood a few feet away from the destruction of the terrorist attacks on 9/11. Steven recalls how his dad heroically saved the lives of two first responders that day. For days and weeks after, police officers, fire fighters, and paramedics found refuge in Lloyd’s restaurant, which earned the nickname “Hotel McDonalds.” Ultimately, Lloyd served 700,000 free meals to Ground Zero fire fighters, police officers and rescue workers.
