I will add to this that when we BBQ we cook larger portions of meat because BBQing properly takes many hours, seasoning and wood/pellets to cook. Plus the BBQ is so delicious and mouth watering that you will eat it faster than you would normally expect to do. The leftover meat is just as good and delicious as the meat is off of the BBQ smoker.

Bacon is different because we don’t use the back like Europe. We use the Belly of the pig which has more fat. We cold smoke that pork belly then slice and package. The back of the pig actually is used as Fatback. It’s a preserved pork product that has roots in pioneer days. It’s just the entire back of the pig cured in salt water or pure out salt. If people got hungry but there wasn’t any game they cut off a piece and fry it up. It sustained a lot of people crossing the Midwest and the grasslands of America. Modern fatback is used for its fat content as it melts down to create lard. Its still made the same way though.

Now we're all married and we all.have big families, so if two of us get our kids and grandkids together, we are talking about 15 to 25 people just for a barbecue or brunch after Mass. Plus we all have garage fridge freezers so we can get things on sale and keep them.
Costco has been a total blessing for big events too. Their alcohol section allows us to provide a full bar at a MUCH reduced cost for weddings and anniversaries. And tons of us have gotten a lovely custom little wedding cake for the table and then had massive Costco sheet cakes in the kitchen with the caterer for serving. It can save hundreds to thousands of dollars, depending on how big or fancy the event is. Flowers too.

What do you do with the meat?
Well, as you said, there are parties. There are also large families.
But usually, what people do is take the meet home, open the package, and then repackage it into smaller serving sizes and put those into the freezer. Then you just pull out a serving that fits the size of your family as you need it over time.
A lot of Americans like to meal prep, where they'll do a lot of cooking on one weekend day, and then refrigerate or freeze the food so that they can take it out later in the week and reheat it as needed so that they don't have to cook when they come home from work.

When my parents would buy a lot of meat for at the store. They would separated into one pound portions and then put it in the huge freezer downstairs and sometimes at farmers markets we’d get cheap vegetables and fruits in boxes and go home and have a whole 4 days of canning to do. I loved it when I’ve go to grandma’s house when she was canning stuff because she would let us taste test her apple pie filling before she canned it and bring a bunch of it home. Her apple juice and grape juice were delicious too. But grandma can’t do canning anymore because of her body not being like it was back.

the problem with countries that are 'socialist' or 'communist' is that ALL products FIRST go to the highest people in government, THEN go to the next level in government. and on down the line. so by the time ordinary citizens get a chance, it's all gone or nearly all gone... thus there are food scarcity for the general population... add to that, non-'socialist' or non-'communist' countries ban trading with those countries and their supply is even more scarce. thus, you end up with stores with nothing on the shelves or one or two products that the 'elites' didn't want... and anything that is grown or any animal raised is automatically owned by the government, even if you grew it yourself in your yard (which by the way, you don't own, as there's no 'private property' all property is owned by the government...)... so you can't even grow food for yourself or your family... and they will take it when it's ready to harvest (so you put your blood, sweat and tears, doing all the work, but they just come in and take it) and they will do it at gun point if you don't give it up to them.... most of these countries don't even have electricity 24 hrs a day.... (except for the 'elites'... they always have the best and the most). so many times you'll be in the dark for most of the day as they rotate the electricity around to other towns or sections of the city... or even if it's broken and not working at all because they can't get the parts to fix it or don't have the training to fix it...

most of the meat, you just separate and freeze but leave some out to cook... or if it's ribs, you can just grill the whole thing.... for ground beef, I get the 10 lbs 'chub' (tube) and split it into 1 lbs packs and freeze them but leave 1 or 2 out to cook for the dinner and maybe the next nights dinner... I usually get 3 'chubs' and freeze nearly all of it this way and have ground beef for the month...
I also hunt deer and boar, so I have 2 large deep freezers, 3 large stand up freezers, 3 fridges (one main for the house and 2 in the garage... I get about 2 deer and 4 boar a year and make sausage out of it all... with a couple of rump roasts for the slow cooker.... so I have plenty of room for a large meat run from costco or sam's....

We've got smart screens everywhere. You can use it to bring up a recipe, while you are cooking. Probably works with Alexa, etc. so, you can use voice control to tell it to add things to your shopping list or buy things as you are right there in the kitchen. It probably makes suggestions to reorder your commonly ordered items. You can watch movies and make video calls while cooking/doing chores in the kitchen. I don't have that refrigerator. The only meat I bought was a rotisserie chicken ($4.99) and a twin pack of eye of round roast (for making beef jerky or for deli roast beef). Just as I do with family packs of meat from the regular grocery stores, the roasts got vacuum sealed individually and put into the freezer.
I bought paper products (paper towels and toilet paper), some cleaning stuff, a few other food items (nuts, Ranch dressing, etc...), and some toiletry type items and vitamins. Even buying most of the stuff that was on sale I still managed to spend $300!
