Wicked Mads!!! Great run mate, she looked very stable indeed..... and a great open space to run to. Tottaly love your build, a lot of effort has obviously gone into that! Body and undertray look superb.... highly streamlined, which is likely to be of strong advantage as the power increases! Everyone is having great fun eh bud! 👍 👍 👍 😊
Thanks Yoda, sorry for the late reply! Yeah, I gotta say I am happy about this, and of course having fun with the challenge. I've now been away from this for almost a week, I think it's time to get back on the horse, see if I can push towards 50, ha ha!
Thanks Shayne! I was really happy about it, and as you noticed, I'm not good at hiding my enthusiasm, ha ha... Now lots of work ahead, I still have a lot of stability to work on, and then some increments in gearing... The 3s pack stays on the shelf a little longer, I think...
That's an impressive baseline run, Mads. Very impressive! I love the decal work on the body, too, you've put a lot of effort into this car, it's going to be a contender for the top spot, guaranteed! 💨💨💨
Thanks Fil! At least it brings me onto the board, ha ha! I'm not really going for top spot, but this does make me want more, so I'll do some improvements and start increasing on gearing... I watched Addam's latest video, and I think I like to compare myself to his efforts, see if I can beat 52 on 2s, that would be cool... Yeah, at first I was bummed I needed to ditch the idea with the Toyota Yaris body, but I started to like this one, and I do like the simple paint job... Thanks for sharing my video, by the way!
Gotta use the correct technical terminology, you know that! And thanks, I do get excited about this, it is a proper thrill to drive fast with a little toy car like this, ha ha!
Thanks Dirk! Yeah, I want to make these runs at least fairly clean, and for that I need the body to be pretty firm. I'm never a fan of the body clips, and especially on this one I prefer the velcro... I still got a lot of work to do on it, but at least this is a start...
Hi Mads and of course we're interested in how you're doing!!! In fact you're doing really Fu..... Bloody well!!! 🤣🤣 Love what you have done to the car, especially the undertray and foam packing. I was thinking of doing exactly the same thing but you beat me to it! Thanks for sharing, now I can copy your design! Oh, and the speed... awesome for sure. If you have a taller pinion then you can definitely go faster, and of course there is always 3s that will give you a 30%+ speed boost! Glad to hear you're having fun over there, good luck for the next one, mate! 🤞😬👍
Thanks Mark, yeah I am really happy about how this is going, I am loving this challenge. And happy to finally be able to contribute also. The undertray was an idea I got from you, actually! I wanted it because it seemed like a cool thing to do, but when I needed to attach the body, it seemed even more urgent to implement it... It's fairly simple to do, first trace out the body outline, then mark the crucial chassis features and cut, hope for the best... Don't forget holes for the motor mount, he he... When I was looking at my video, 06:12 into it, I hold up the chassis, it's scuffed on the rear, mostly... I'm a bit concerned... Either it has tried to take off, or maybe the downforce on the rear wing is too much, or maybe rear suspension is too soft... Lots to figure out still, ha ha... Definitely I want to go faster, but responsibly, ha ha!
Thanks a lot Damian! I'm trying to take this challenge at a healthy pace, hoping to keep stability and speed increments aligned, and with a good-looking car, too... Yeah, once I start the babble, there is no control, ha ha...
Great run Mads! It looked nice and stable and quick. I love the undertray and the foam bolsters the inside! Very well done! Glad you were able to find a big area to run at, that was probably a little less nerve wracking to not have to worry about stuffing it under something! Take care and great run!
Thanks Addam, I am really happy with it myself! Yeah, I have to admit it's a bit of a luxury to have that parking lot for myself. But knowing me, I need a bit of safety and security, in case I do something stupid, ha ha! At least when I go onto 3s I definitely need some open space! I think I might switch to brushed, then it might be a good challenge to try to stay on a road with it... Let's see...
Thanks buddy! I haven't touched the car for over a week now, sadly... Looking forward to make some tweaks and up the gearing on it, hopefully clock a worth speed increment...
Brilliant run Mads! Love the creativity on the chassis packing pal…. Some interesting ideas which may it may not make a difference at my slow speed 😂😂 Great start on 2S pal! Let’s go faster 🙌🏻 Love the body matey 🙌🏻
Thanks Craig! I think firming up the body is crucial for good stability at speed, but it is also due to my own "vanity"... Also on my buggies, I prefer to ditch the body clips and attach with velcro, feels better for me... This is by far my most complex build, and I got a lot more to do on it, both on looks, stability and of course speed! Looking forward to seeing some more from you, I think you got a score to settle with Mark, ha ha...
Mads, that is one impressive run, you pretty much rebuilt the TT02 with the foam to support the body and I like the bottom skid plate with the side skirts and front bumper. Pretty good idea. Thank you. 👍👍👍
Thanks Al, sorry for the slow reply. Yeah, I like to "firm things up", I learned that from my buggies. No idea if it helps much, but at least I don't think it harms, ha ha... I've been away from this project almost a week, I think I need to get back at it soon...
Awesome run Mads!!!! When you hit 60kph (40mph) you start to wonder, do I have enough room to max out the cars speed AND stop the car?? Good Luck Man!!!
Thanks Uncle Bob! Yeah, like I wrote to Addam, it's a bit of a luxury to have such a nice parking space available... But when it gets 30 percent faster (as I guess 3s will do), then I might run out of space and have no other option than to try on public roads, also very scary... Let's see what happens, it certainly is fun, this!
Thanks Monkey! Yeah, the flat tray is actually mostly plastic, sandwiched between some very thing sheets of aluminium. They seem rigid, but probably after enough scuffs it'll be quite soft, hopefully enough to make it through the challenge, ha ha...
@madsrcbuggy from the looks of it, it should definitely last through the challenge! And if you feel you wanna try something different later I suggest some polycarbonate. It can take some serious beatings and bounce back well. Good luck with your runs!
Thanks Dom! I'm quite happy how it all turned out, I put a lot of hours into that thing... Lots more work before next run, need to increase stability and of course also speed, ha ha...
Thanks Duke! I was really happy about this one, very stable... Looking forward to get some more, but too damned busy at the moment, let's see when I manage...
Thanks Atomart! I wish I wasn't so behind with everything, would love to head over and watch yours also... I hope you manage to get a good run in, most important is to just run stable in my opinion, speed can always be increased. Have fun!
Thanks Joe! Yeah, I am happy about it, plus it gives more chassis space, actually, too... Let's see how damaged it will be by the end of September, ha ha...
Thanks Rob! I need to go back and watch what speed you achieved, I've been watching so many TT-02 speedrun videos, I can't keep track, ha ha... Yeah, I am really happy with this, I still got some things to improve on, especially stability, and then start to move up through the gears... I'm hoping to keep the 3s battery pack on the shelf a bit longer, postpone doomsday a bit, ha ha...
Ah, yes, 37, Rob... I see you got a couple 100 kV more than me, but your gearing is ~6 teeth lower than mine, that's probably where the difference lies...
Thanks Thad, I really like this challenge, and my car seems good... Been almost a week with nothing achieved, I think I need to get back to it... Looking forward to seeing your runs, too!
