It's not really cheating, but it is also a bit of a loophole? Is this speed accepted?
Anyway, whether you are in a speed challenge, or you just want to go fast for some other reason, I sort of documented how I achieved this crazy tall gearing, low gear ratio:
The modifications to gearbox are pretty modest, just a couple holes to drill, no grinding needed.
I calculated the new gear ratio, it is now 2.8 instead of the 8.3 that a 19 tooth pinion normally results in.
That's pretty steep, so I didn't use a fast motor, but just the old Torque Tuned 540. I will later try with a 12 turn 550, but not just yet.

Well Mads, that was "unusual and different from what is normally seen" (the definition of "leftfield"!!!). This is becoming a trait of yours! But I think it's awesome! That was some speed increase and extremely good for a Torque Tuned motor. Looking forward to see what happens with the 12T 550. Good luck my friend!

I now ran the 550 in it, the mesh held up fine, and it gave me some extra McMiles, I will try to post the video today hopefully...

Well Mads, I was not expecting that..... Great run man and a PB so far!!!!! 550 can will be interesting to see even though I have my thoughts on those longer can motors.

Thanks Peter! Yeah, I have no idea how I came up with that thing, but it seemed to work alright... I went and tried that big 550 can in it, I now have an additional slight increase coming, hopefully on video today or tomorrow...

If you wanna go fast, go brushless and run at 3s lipos at 12.6v!
