    Using the PHILLIPS ONE BLADE razor to do a full HEAD SHAVE.
    Welcome to Baldcafe and to the video. Whilst back in England recently I decided to pick up the Phillips one blade razor. I was curious to find out if it could replace my traditional wet shave with a razor.
    Since going bald I have been shaving my head for the last year. Although I was really impressed with the razor it is not as close of a shave as traditional wet shaving. This razor is great if you haven't shaved your head for a long time or if you usually buzz you head with clippers and want a closer shave.
    Bald cafe is dedicated to helping guys deal positively with their baldness once and for all.

    This is the best review of this blade I've found. Thank you for not spending 20 minutes just to shave in front of the camera without properly showing the results after. I would have loved to see a side by side comparison with a regular razor shave, but this is great. Thank you!

    Bro thank you for the confidence that you have shared through your videos in this channel. Finally today I had the guts to shave my head completely without any worry. Getting really good feedback from everyone. Thank you all who have shared their stories in this channel. I was facing hair loss for a long time and was trying to hide using caps or hair spray. Feeling super free today.
    Thank you!! Love from (Kolkata)India

    I'm using a Whal Peanut for more than 25 years. Daily. The same clipper. I changed the blade twice. If you clean and oil it regularly I don't see it fail on me. I'm 47 and I'm shaving my head since I'm 20. Very close shave, very powerful, small, corded (I hate weak battery devices), not hair pulls, no bumps. To me nothing comes close to it. Sometimes I finish it off with a single blade safety razor on special occasions but for day to day life, Whal Peanut it the best on the market.

    Thanks for the vids mate, been looking for something like this for a while as my bald head is now at the point where a buzz cut triangle fringe back and sides don't blend in with the bald on top very well and don't think I'm ready a proper shave yet so this looks perfect

    Just used this for my first "head shave". I must say I am impressed with how much hair this tiny thing can handle and how close the shave is. Also very little irritation, the blade does not get super hot which causes irration with other electric razers for me.

    Bought one years ago to maintain a nice stubble as a beard, now a couple years later I ended up shaving my head and let my beard grow out so I guess it will turn into a head shaver instead. I guess it ultimately worked out. Might try the n.1 guard on it to see how my hair looks with that, for some reason I went straight to no guard on my first shave so I might need to experiment with short hair first

    I have just tested the oneblade thanks to you. I bought it 29€ from the local supermarket. The shave is pretty close. I would say around 0.5mm with the bare blade. It's actually for beards, but works as well for the balding man's close shave.
    The cut is not as close as with a mechanical razor, but closer would trigger irritation anyway.
    I wished you did a video on head skin care (lotions or whatever). Exposing the skin to the sun may have consequences.

    • @ThomasSorensen1
      @ThomasSorensen1 4 года назад +1

      @@bri83 If anyone sees this... I don't love my Bodygroom (it sometimes pulls, gets clogged w/ hair) but I generally do my head with that first and then go over everything (especially tougher spots like behind the ears, and top of my head where Bodygroom stuggles with my much thinner hair) with the OneBlade to finish. I get a 3 pack of blades, after using a brand new one on my neck X number of times it becomes a head blade. My neck is most sensitive but if I only use the OneBlade to finish my head it's still sharp enough to last awhile. That way I can extend their life by using duller ones in less sensitive areas. When my newest blade is nearing the point I wont want to use it on my neck anymore I order a new 3pack. Probably every 2.5mos? I'd say i probably tend to shave this way about every 4-5 days. The Bodygroom is then still good for like your back/arms/chest kinda stuff.
      Oh I also think the OneBlade is pretty good for mustache trimming.

    I have been shaving my head with one blade three times a week & its been 8 months & 2 weeks now, I'm on the same blade. I have to say that I always wet shave that is moist scalp put the shaving gel on wait for 2 min & 2 passes & done. Let me tell you this is the closest shave I've got with a trimmer & I have an andis t-outliner corded with deeptooth GTX blade zero gapped by andis zero gapper tool & one blade gives you closer shave than andis when shaved wet with zero maintenance no oiling nothing just get in the shower shave & done. I'm so glad I did not go for the andis t-outliner cordless, one blade shave is closer wet & about the same dry.
    Since when did we decide to do what the company tells us to do? If they have it their way they will tell us to change blades every shave. These blades lasts more that 4 months at least for me & I have thick coarse hair on my head. If you're backing out of one blade because of the 4 months blade replacement chances are you wont replace your blade for at least 8 months or more.
    My first blade is been giving me the same performance as I had got it for the first time no bluntness or skipping of hair still 2 passes & done. I have bought the pro version now but using the same old blade from the first one.
    Bottom line you don't have to change blades every four months & for longevity of blades may be wet shave. Sorry for the long reply.

      Andy Roth, do you have consistent results? Based on your tip I switched to shaving wet with the one blade (shaving dry resulted in a dull blade within 2 months). I had some good results in the beginning, but after one month the result is not so smooth anymore. The blade is not turning green or anything. Out of frustration I took my saftey razor and shaved my skull. I am curious how my skull looks tomorrow, since since I had always problem with shaving bumbs before I had a beard.

      The best combo would be to cut the hair down with the GTX and finish it off with the one blade. The GTX is a trimmer while the One blade works amazingly as a balder/shaver to finish it off! Thats my combination for my facial hair and that would probably be an amazing combo for head shaving too and it would help those razors last too.

    I have one blade and it is not worth using it on your head. You have to replace blades when they get clogged and they will get clogged really fast if you are going to use it for head shaving.

    I used the same shaver. It was TERRIBLE for me. It would refuse to shave my back hair to the same length at the front hair, so I had to press it down really hard in order to have all of my hair be even. The blade has problems staying in the holder. It easily falls out without you having to use the button to get it out; it would just randomly fall out while I am shaving.

    I have been using my one blade to shave my head for a few years, but it's proved expensive because the blades wear out too easily when using on the head so I've bought myself a Remington rx5

    • @stevemarvin391
      @stevemarvin391 3 года назад

      Do you like the RX5 better and if so, why exactly? I'm trying to find an alternative to my head shaver that is a pain to clean.

    • @johnparsons222
      @johnparsons222 3 года назад

      @@stevemarvin391 I prefer my RX5 because it's a smoother ride on the scalp, it's easy to clean with a much longer blade life, if maintained properly, the blades should last for years and you shouldn't have to worry about replacing them. The whole shave lasts around 1-3 minutes, depending upon how careful and precise you want to be.

      The product is meant as a beard trimmer. It works good enough if you are shaving every couple of days/a few times a week. It needs some extra time if you haven't shaved in about a month. It's not the best product ever but it helps me limit my visits to the barbershop to once every three months or so once I'm growing a beard and that's because I suck at shaping it.
