I live in the sticky south. Yeah, it's cold here too for a southern boy. You know it actually froze 2 days in a row? Lol. It didn't stay froze, but it froze twice. Update on my shaves. I've been doing your conditioner technique for about a month now and I'm sold completely. It has helped me out so much so thank you again for the advice.
As a 22 year old guy, able to grow a full head of hair, i chose to shave it, and i found your videos really helpful for stepping into that direction. I love how it looks and feels and its more practical and overall easygoing. And to anyone that's thinking about it, go for it, you'll be surprised 😃 Cheers!
@@jaffaraltamimi9206 Hey! Yes I do, cause just like you said, it feels and looks good so why stopping 😄 Hopefully you are enjoying it! Have a good one!
I have been shaving my head for at least 5-10 years. I always used shaving cream. I recently switched from 5 blades on my head to a two blade (that actually gives me a closer shave). The thing that gets me the absolutely closest shave was following your advice of using hair conditioner. I didn't think this would work, and fully expected it to clog my razor like shaving oil does. WHAT A GREAT TIP!! I also agree about shaving just twice a week too. Anything more than that and the problem areas on my scalp can't handle it!
As a fairly new head-shaver, I can attest that this method is AMAZING!! Before trying conditioner, my head always felt raw and sore for a day or so after shaving, and I usually gave myself at least one cut in the process. Conditioner worked like a dream. Close shave, no cuts, and my skin feels great. Thank you SO much for sharing this technique, Greg!
I am 25, shaved just for fun, to see how it looks. Now i am back to give feedback and say i love it, and doing it again now, after a week or so! Nice when you can just go to internet and there's a person like Greg, who give you all the requered info about stuff. Thanks a lot!
Thank you very much!!! After 15 years of shaving trying EVERYTHING and EVERY KIND OF RAZOR to avoid bumps and irritation, I saw your video and it has really changed my life. After two shaves I confirm your way is the best, and also the fastest, easiest and cheapest!!!
For those of you about to dive through the comments stop here. 27 years old and have been shaving my head with a braun electric shaver for the past 3 years after a terrible experience with a razor when first going bald. I have extremely sensitive skin on the back of my head and neck and have been afraid to use a razor blade on my head until trying this exact method, conditioner, and razor. Baby smooth, no burns, no cuts, it’s game changing. Life changing even! No more long sessions trying to get as smooth as I can with a shaver. Use this method y’all it works.
This is probably THE best tutorial on youtube. Your tip was awesome. Went from hating to do this, to being a breeze. I use to get a LOT of irritated skin. I have been using your method for about a year now (randomly stumbled opun your video again), using conditioner instead of creame was the best thing I could do for my skin. I really like your "Less is more" approach. Some guys over complicate this too much
Thank you Greg for not overcomplicating it like everyone else. This is so relieving. I have been using an electric shaver, but definitely plan to go back to a razor.
Recently fully shaved my head due to age, thinning - Not looking back. Pure freedom. If you are thinking about it, or have it on your mind, just do it - you Won’t regret it.
I have been shaving my head for 20+ years. Learned to use conditioner about 10 years ago, never looked back. Also, about 2 years ago switched to Defender razors. My hair is very thick and these cut very well, rinse very easy, and never clog. Great video!
The Defender has provided the closest shave out of all the razors I’ve tried. They do seem to last a shave or two less than the other brands. It’s a trade off I’ll take considering how close the shave is!
Greg, I have been shaving my head now since mid-March when the pandemic started because my barbershop was closed and I had considered doing this anyway because of my receding hairline and I love it now. Thanks for the great video!
Greg, thank you so much for telling us to use a conditioner, instead of shaving cream. I've been shaving my head bald for nearly 13 years, and I've never thought of using such a smart way to make shaving easier.
Great tips. I just started head shaving a few weeks ago. Been using zero guard clippers for years with not enough frequency. I find shaving keeps me in check with a routine. Perfect timing thanks for the tips!
Refreshing to read. I’ve been doing the same. Zero guard for many many years. Recently decided to start shaving. I see this is going to definitely keep me in check.
Thanks for the great advice Greg. I've been shaving my head for 40 years now, I'm now 67, and I've always used shaving creams and a badger brush, but my last couple of shaves, I've just used conditioner, as you have advised. The closest shave that I've had. Cheers buddy 👍
I’ve been shaving my head for a decade and gave up on going at it with a blade a while ago. Literally, never heard of this until now when I came across this video. Tried it for the first time and don’t have words to describe how shook I am over how well this simple change worked. Life changing thanks for this one!
Great minimalistic way of shaving. Started shaving my head almost a month ago, and your help is so much better than those “use this, and then this, and than that” tutorials. You deserve more views than the GQ’s (or Gillette’s) video on this topic Thank you so much :) 16:01 can relate 😄
I'm a lady that stumbled onto this video trying to find a way to get a close shave without using things I'm allergic to. Thanks so much for this simplified tutorial. It worked very well.
Just started shaving my head within the past month, and just shaved it this morning. I also do it twice a week. I really wish I found your video yesterday, because I've been using shaving gel and used it this morning. I really cannot wait to try with conditioner next time, that might be what helps with the irritation and problem areas. Thank you for a great video.
@@arshreetsingh3828 Huge difference. If you try nothing else, stick with conditioner. Since my initial comment here 5 months ago I have become a Beardbrand customer. I use their Utility Balm as a shaving lubricant and post shave, the stuff is amazing. It's also my daily beard/mustache/skin moisturizer. It's pricy but you get more than you pay for, in a few different ways.
Brother man, i cannot tell you how thankful I am for your video. I had been trying to get my head shaved baby smooth for the last few weeks, trying different razors, shaving creams, shave butters, what ever. And the womans conditioner was the key to success, like what an absolute difference it made, i'm mind blown. Thank you my friend.
This honestly helped me alot I recently got rid of my curled mop head afro because I got tired of the weight and maintaining it, waking up with hair in my eyes, but I've never did bald before ever, and you have helped tremendously and I look good so far I just gotta sit in the sun now to get that color (and the conditioner tip was a big save of money so thanks for that)
Recently beat cancer, but my hair receeded from the chemo and stress of the 3 year battle. Luckily I got constant compliments for having a head that looks great bald apparently. This video will help me look better than I ever have before. Plus I get to keep my beard 🫀
For people starting out with blade shaving this is a good tutorial. I've been shaving my head 25 years. I shave in the shower under hot water. Don't need anything but a good blade and the water. After, I use a vitamin C moisturizer. I don't get nicks, bumps, or irritation.
You sound like my dad! LOL I've always had issues with finding a good shave cream, and razors that don't get jacked after one or two uses. He would just chuckle and say he was good with one for a month and some hot water (shaving his face before he quit doing that).
Trust me as a man, having a bald head is better than having 3/4 of the hair on your head with a big bald spot in the front or back, if its thinning shave it all off.
I've been just buzzing it for a year now. About to finally hit it with a razor to honor my grandma i lost to cancer (today is her birthday) so back here again. Thanks again, in advance. Not only a great tutorial, but a great motivator cuz i wanna look as good as you lol
Hi Greg, I’m so glad that I found your video. I’ve been trying to get rid of razor burn & bumps for years, using one blade, two blade, 5 blades, a double edge safety razor, along with different shaving foams, gels and soaps with not much success. You’re the first person I’ve come across that recommended using conditioner. I ordered the one you’re using and the difference is night and day! My neck hasn’t looked this great in years. Less irritation, bumps and burns. This’ll also serve for when I shave my head in a few years. It doesn’t seem as daunting anymore! Thanks again, I’ll continue using conditioner from now on and I wish you and your wife all the best.
I just did my first complete shaving (always trimmed to the max my hair) but I looked up tips and adviced, found yours, followed it to the letter. Perfection, thank you so much Greg, it worked like a charm and it wasn't scarry at all. Thank you again, you got yourself a new subscriber!
This video is incredibly helpful, was struggling with going bald (I'm 21 now) and i decided to just see what it would look like, yours and many other videos have been a god send! thank you!
I've used your advice for the past couple of months and it's made my transition to bald shaving so much easier. Thank you so much. That conditioner tip is so good!
Great tips, just started my razor shave adventure. Don't have other experience to compare to but really happy with the all process and result. Many thanks!
I've been shaving for a year ... this man said conditioner... Blew my mind. I went the old school route... Started shaving only with the grain with shaving cream because I felt like I was trying to scalp myself. Took 6 months to go get against the grain... Would have *SHAVED* that time down had I watched this man
I have to leave some feedback on my experience after watching this video, I have been shaving for about 12 years now and I had used shaving creams and gels. After trying couple of shaves with conditioner (I use the same as in the video) and I must say, what a difference in my results and feels comfortable afterwards, not dry as before and I think I will be saving some cash as well. Thanks for changing the way I shave 👍🏻
I’ve been shaving my head for 14 years and can say that your tips are SPOT ON. I do the exact same as far as only shaving about twice a week. Usually Wednesday and Saturday are my head shaving days. For me, 3 full days in between shaves is the sweet spot. I use a Mach 3 but may try Harry’s 5 blade. Definitely going to try the conditioner trick. 👍🏼
Thank you, Greg. I bought the Harry's razor and some conditioner - it went well, and I'm happy with the results. I appreciate the time you put into this video. Cheers!
Best head's shaving video in my opinion!. I used to cut my hair as short as possible with an electric clipper, but your video motivated me to go straight to the razor. It works well for me, with a conditioner only. Keep it simple
What I've found works for me at least is putting a hot hand towel on my head for a few minutes, applying gel, shaving, putting on the hot towel again to clean off, and then putting moisturizer all across my face and head. Great vid btw!
Thanks for this awesome video. I recently just got rid of all my hair on my head (minus the beard) but I had only used an electric razor. Wasn't happy with it. Definitely will be trying this, thank you for the step by step! Great stuff.
Hey! Y'all know all those crazy stories about how people watch one video and then do something crazy? Yep, this was that video! Thanks Gregg. It came out pretty well. It was a struggle though. My head was tired just from multiple passes with a trimmer. My first go with a gillette and dove(because it's 10000% moisturizer) didn't go. I had to wash my head and use the trimmer to get even shorter. Then I figured shaving your head maybe wasn't so easy. I watched this video and my next attempt(using Free & Clear conditioner) went much better. I didn't get all the hair off. I still have a little stubble. I'm somewhere between your first and second pass even though I did two passes. But I listened to my new dome. It said it was tired. I'm glad I did. Later that day my head hurt a little. Just when it was touched, and only in a few spots. No bumps. TBH, a lot of people told me things like I had enough hair for x,y,z. But after taking a lot of selfies of my head, something you should do if you're still reading, I decided I was not just a man in denial, but a man who is beginning to look like he's in denial. This look goes on for decades in my family, who are all in shock right now having heard the news. "ALL, did you say?" I stepped down several times to get a real good look at what I could do if I kept it real short. Looked terrible. I never knew what to do to my hair, though I always wanted long headbanger or medival lord hair that never worked out. More denial. After everything my head went though day before yesterday, I have to say I look more normal and planned than any haircut since I was in high school. I'm actually hoping the change helps me remember myself. As we have all been tested by the 'rona. As Steven King has said "remember the face of your father." It's odd how I thought the bald head might help me remember the buddhists in their calm, but instead is more like the... Objective and subjective masculinity one feels when the beard gains it's own personality. Idk yet, but it feels like 10 minutes twice a week is going to be a meditation on the intent of self. Your choice of script, or free form, is excellent. It's clear you've thought a lot about this topic, and I think we all appreciate the input during what is kind of a scary time. I'm going to go watch the how not to get razor burn, I'm pretty sure that was yours.
Great video, very thorough and definitely worth the watch. I’d never have thought about using conditioner as a substitute to shaving cream. Top tips and many thanks
After watching your video last night I shaved head with your help it went smoothly and is smooth and silky. Great tips the conditioner tip was perfect. Thanks again.
3 days in between shaving (or 2 times a week) would also be best for me. My "problem" is that I have almost no hair left at the top so I don't like my look two days after shaving. "Have" to wear a cap then or accept some skin irritation. Stubbles look good at you. Thanks for the tip with the conditioner. I used shaving foam for years but a few days ago I switched to shaving creme (with only natural ingredients) and I like it a lot. It's very good for my skin too and the skin does not burn afterwards!
My partner and I had so much fun watching this together! I just got a pixi and he's shaving his head instead of super short buzz. This was great! Thank you from Colorado!
I've been using an electric shaver (the five head variety) and it was leaving my scalp not entirely bald, but also giving me irritation and bumps no matter what shaving schedule I used. I bought a MotoShaver and it worked great but It was so awkward for me and afterward when washing the shave cream off, stinging. I'm so excited to try the conditioner method. Your nicely shaved head is goals! Thanks for this video.
I know this video is old, but it was the only one that help me to shave my head for the first time and without getting any irritation or any wound... Thank you very much Sir.
I've been shaving my head for 18 years, and never even thought about using conditioner. Sounds like it's a game changer though! I am going to try it this morning, my wife has plenty of OGX conditioner.
I've been shaving my head for about 18 years now. I do it it basically 3-5 minutes. Just a good shaving cream and a good razor. Not that hard. The part that I love is that I used to be so picky about my hair took a long time trying to make it right and it was thinning. Then it hit the point where you could see the balding so I went F**k it and buzzcut it and then the day after just shaved it clean. Haven't looked back since and no more taking time to fix the hair or go to a barber. Literally just 3-5 minutes with a razor and I'm done. I would shave it even if I had hair, because how simple it is.
I've decided im going to shave my head. I'm 25, and I'm already getting too self-conscious about my balding, and I can't thank you enough for the tips. I'll try my best lol
I’ll have to try the conditioner method. I’ve had great results with old school all natural shave soap and brush. Always best after a nice hot shower and no shirt to get down below the shirt line on the back of the neck.
I just started to shave my head because I like it how it looks, but I had red looking and sensitive painful skin all the time. I was using shaving cream and after shave 😃😃. But now I folow the advice you give man, And Wow... it's sooo working. it's all gone.
I’m not gonna lie, I was extremely hesitant about trying to shave my head with conditioner at first because I typically use Gillette Fusion Shaving Gel and it does a fairly good job. I was also worried because I have a really sensitive scalp and I thought knowing my luck this would have been too good to be true. Even tho I saw the great results you had in this video I was still adamant. But anyway I finally gave this a try about 20 minutes ago with the Tea Tree Mint conditioner from OGX that you recommended. You weren’t lying tho because it smells great and an affordable price for how much you get. Well I just want to say, I’m sorry for ever doubting this method and being so hesitant at first because this worked out great! It was awesome because I got my head shaved in half the time it normally takes me and a much closer & smoother shave. I’m beyond grateful too since this will save me a ton of money compared to buying two bottles of shaving cream every few months, which may not seem like a lot to some people but it does add up. It’s so nice only having to use a small dime sized drop of the conditioner compared to using a good amount of shaving gel for each pass (with the grain & against the grain). So thank you very much for putting videos out like this so people are aware of new and better ways to take care of their head. Even some of the more stubborn ones like me. Lol 😎👍💯
I have also a bald head snd I’ve tried so many blades. Now today I just bought the Gillette pro glide at CVS. And that was a smooth shave for my head. I usually shaving cream for my head. I’ll have to give that a cream a try.
Thanks for the shaving with conditioner tip. I just bought the same one you have in the video and it works great. It smells better than shaving cream and leaves my scalp moisturized. Very helpful video.
Gonna start this routine. Just started my Saitama (bald) journey almost 3 weeks ago. Already spent 70$ going to the barbershop cause ion trust myself with a razor on my head, especially if I can’t see the back of my head. Also knowing about razor bumps cause of my lil beard, I just wanted to avoid all’at & let a barber do the job, but man is it costing. Seeing how easy you made it look & even the procedure is easy to follow I will begin this routine today I’ll come back on the 30th with my progression Thanks, man
I want to express my gratitude for your advice. Thanks to your tutorial I can finally shave my head without any more irritation problems. Greetings from Italy Your channel is a "must have" for us bald bearded men Sorry for bad english :-)
You really are a master of shaving But what is amazing is how you shaved your head as if you were combing your head smoothly. My brother watched the video with me because he was also shaving his head with the razor because one day I shaved his head with a straight razor, but the problem was that he hurt and blood came out of his head 😁😁It was an experience Bad for him
I've shaved my head for 10 years now with no issues using edge extra moisturizing shave gel, but will give conditioner a try. Only advice I'd give you, is give the gillete pro glide with the flex ball razor a try over Harry's. I've tried them all! The flex ball is such a difference maker for those odd spots on your head. Cheers!
Thanks Greg for the tutorial - I have wanted to shave my head for years, but didn't have the know-how or guts to do it, but your tutorial made it seem so easy - AND it was! The conditioner tip was excellent! Shaved again for the second time today, and it worked perfectly again! Cheers and greetings from Germany
If I may ask in German: Conditioner ist im Englischen das gleiche wie im Deutschen? Bin unsicher, ob ganz normaler Conditioner damit gemeint ist, oder ob man auf irgendwas achten sollte.

I've never really wanted to go below 3mm hair, but watching this video actually made me consider a shave. If I do, the first time will probably be with a OneBlade because to be honest I'm really scared of cutting myself. Really glad I found your channel!
The OneBlade is stunning! I hadn't heard of that before. Sometimes more blades can prevent the hairs from standing up for a proper cut so I can see the benefit with a single edge.
Okay, I went ahead and tried this method with a Dorco 6-blade cartridge and it went very well, better than I expected. That OneBlade looks freaking awesome but now I can say from experience you do not need one.
Awesome vid! I'm 43 years old, and I've been shaving my head since I was 23. Most of it was trial and error, and never asked for advice, or even thought about searching online. But in my 20 years of doing this, and using shaving cream, I never thought of using conditioner, like, never. I LOVE how it feels after the shaving. I came across your vid by chance, and now you have new subscriber. Good job Greg.

If you are thinking about it, or have it on your mind, just do it - you
Won’t regret it.
Thanks so much. I'm 65 years old. My hair is thinning, and I just decided to shave it off. This is the best video I've seen. Thanks again!
I finally took the plunge and this helped tremendously for confidence. So I'll keep you posted on how those tips work out. Thanks again.
I have been shaving my head for 20+ years. Learned to use conditioner about 10 years ago, never looked back. Also, about 2 years ago switched to Defender razors. My hair is very thick and these cut very well, rinse very easy, and never clog. Great video!
Thank you
The Defender has provided the closest shave out of all the razors I’ve tried. They do seem to last a shave or two less than the other brands. It’s a trade off I’ll take considering how close the shave is!
Name of the conditioner?
Greg, I have been shaving my head now since mid-March when the pandemic started because my barbershop was closed and I had considered doing this anyway because of my receding hairline and I love it now. Thanks for the great video!
23 year old guy. Started going bald 2 years ago. This is by far the greatest method ever. I wish discovered it then!
Been needing more consistency in my routine too!
@@Visionofimmortality all I can say is both good and bad habits are hard to break!
You deserve more views than the GQ’s (or Gillette’s) video on this topic
Thank you so much :)
16:01 can relate 😄
Do I have to apply the SPF filter on the scalp?
@@mrflexii2067 If you want to protect yourself from sunburn, it is a good idea. I personally would definitely use it.
I'm a lady that stumbled onto this video trying to find a way to get a close shave without using things I'm allergic to. Thanks so much for this simplified tutorial. It worked very well.
That’s great to hear! I appreciate you letting me know. I’m glad it worked well for you.
Did using conditioner make a difference?
@@arshreetsingh3828 Huge difference. If you try nothing else, stick with conditioner. Since my initial comment here 5 months ago I have become a Beardbrand customer. I use their Utility Balm as a shaving lubricant and post shave, the stuff is amazing. It's also my daily beard/mustache/skin moisturizer. It's pricy but you get more than you pay for, in a few different ways.
@@arshreetsingh3828 No. It's just not as messy as shaving cream.
This honestly helped me alot I recently got rid of my curled mop head afro because I got tired of the weight and maintaining it, waking up with hair in my eyes, but I've never did bald before ever, and you have helped tremendously and I look good so far I just gotta sit in the sun now to get that color (and the conditioner tip was a big save of money so thanks for that)
Shaving with conditioner? Never heard that before. Looks like it works! Excellent tutorial!
Recently beat cancer, but my hair receeded from the chemo and stress of the 3 year battle. Luckily I got constant compliments for having a head that looks great bald apparently. This video will help me look better than I ever have before. Plus I get to keep my beard 🫀
It’s a look I wouldn’t trade
This is great to hear
I just did my first complete shaving (always trimmed to the max my hair) but I looked up tips and adviced, found yours, followed it to the letter. Perfection, thank you so much Greg, it worked like a charm and it wasn't scarry at all. Thank you again, you got yourself a new subscriber!
Thanks man, I’m glad it went well!
I watched your tutorial when I first shaved my head 3 weeks ago. Since then I did it few more times. The results are amazing. Thank you.
You’re welcome! I’m glad it helped
Great tips, just started my razor shave adventure.
Don't have other experience to compare to but really happy with the all process and result.
Many thanks!
I even bought the same conditioner, smells amazing, works like wonder, life changing.
I've been shaving for a year ... this man said conditioner... Blew my mind. I went the old school route... Started shaving only with the grain with shaving cream because I felt like I was trying to scalp myself. Took 6 months to go get against the grain... Would have *SHAVED* that time down had I watched this man
I've been shaving my head for 20 years and your video is a life saver.
Just done this and have 0 irritation. It's like I haven't even shaved. Amazing. Thank you 👍
I’ve been shaving my head for 14 years and can say that your tips are SPOT ON. 👍🏼
Finally buzzed the head after acknowledging the receding / thinning , looks so much more simpler with conditioner ! Can’t wait to shave it ,Thank you
Very simple. I just shaved my head today, for the first time and it took me like an hour. I was afraid of razor cuts. Thanks.
You’re the BOSS of beard and shaving videos. Thank you from Canada.
Thanks for revisiting head shaving. I started using conditioner for head shaves after watching one of your previous videos.
As a barber who shaves his head i can say your on point with your advice.
Thank you very much!
Thanks for keeping it straight forward and real man. Conditioner and doing one with the grain and then against it is probably what I was missing.
Wow, that looked so easy! I didn't think to use conditioner but I'm definitely going to pick up a bottle next time I go shopping!
Thanks for this awesome video. I recently just got rid of all my hair on my head (minus the beard) but I had only used an electric razor. Wasn't happy with it. Definitely will be trying this, thank you for the step by step! Great stuff.
Just wanted to update - did this method today and it was awesome. No issues, super smooth shave, and my head was moisturized. Thank you again brotha!
"ALL, did you say?"
I stepped down several times to get a real good look at what I could do if I kept it real short.
Thank you so much for this. Going to try this for the first time after YEARS of just clipper cuts
Tried this and it was awesome. Never going back to shave cream again and the conditioner was genius! 🤘🏼
It doesn't really make a difference. It's just not as messy as shaving cream.
I'm only 23 having to watch this. I'm glad the internet exists for this help. Thanks man.
I just started to shave my head because I like it how it looks, but I had red looking and sensitive painful skin all the time.
I was using shaving cream and after shave 😃😃.
But now I folow the advice you give man, And Wow... it's sooo working.
it's all gone.
That is so good to hear!
Tried this out for the first time today. Head is smooth as eggs. Short, simple, and clean. Appreciate it.
Lol 😎👍💯
I love hearing testimonials like this!
I have also a bald head snd I’ve tried so many blades. Now today I just bought the Gillette pro glide at CVS. And that was a smooth shave for my head. I usually shaving cream for my head. I’ll have to give that a cream a try.
You have shaved better than any barber out there. Thank you very much

Seeing how easy you made it look & even the procedure is easy to follow I will begin this routine today
I’ll come back on the 30th with my progression
Thanks, man

You really are a master of shaving
But what is amazing is how you shaved your head as if you were combing your head smoothly. I've never really wanted to go below 3mm hair, but watching this video actually made me consider a shave. If I do, the first time will probably be with a OneBlade because to be honest I'm really scared of cutting myself. Really glad I found your channel!
use gilette proglide and its impossible to cutt urself , then egt an razor pit to sharp the blades then every blade lasts around 8 shaves
Conditioner... Game changer. Thanks mate!! ❤️

I would have felt the same way if I was anyone else. 😁
