If you like what you see, you can preorder the upcoming Rick Hunter VF-1J toy at: www.bigbadtoystore.com/?ScorchedEarthToys. Search for Robotech (or whatever else you're looking for), get what you want, and help this channel out in the process!
Awesome review. May get these just for the color schemes. Wonder if now there made with new updated Toy. Curious what display stand did you use at 16:38?
😞 I'd like the dark red one because it looks like the stealth paint job from the Robotech battlecry game but I'm really too poor for this.... And not too fat but kind of fat so the shirt probably wouldn't fit me 😞
Awesome unboxing. So collectors I'll share a little trick to not have the gun strap ending break off on you! Dab a small amount of plumber's grease. It's the only compound that will allow for easy removal of the strap while not degrading and damaging the rubber. Use machinist miniature screw drivers to work on it, they come in a small case and are used to repair watches, eyeglasses and model trains. Make sure to size the point properly beforehand so you don't strip out these tiny screws! Both the grease and screw drivers can be bought at any hardware store like Home Depot Lowe's or Ace hardware.
The Kitz Concepts molds just seem off to me. Arcadia and Bandai DX Are the way to go. The Hi Metal valks are ok but they are like action figures they’re so small...
I agree. Bandai and Aracdia are the premium standard but I guess they have to make Valkyries at every price point to keep the fans happy. Thus, you have hi-metals and this.
Nice review! Thanks. I was not sure about the red version, now I think I might get one. Love both the dark gold and Roy version. Sad that they have not improved the mold at all. It would be nice to see if the Hikaru version have some of the issues you have mentions fixed. The leg on these are a bit floppier compared to Yamato or Bandai's, did you find that annoying?
KitzConcept did fix most of the issues discussed here! ( not so much the 'floppy legs' ... but most ). Check out ScorchedEarthToys own review of the "version 1.5" VF-1J "Hikaru Ichijo" ( "Rick Hunter" ) custom : m.ruclips.net/video/zAFq_3wWPIs/видео.html KitzConcept has just released a whole "wave" of VF-1 toys, check in these comments for this channels link to Big Bad Toy Store to see more! ☺
The VF-1 design is beyond stale at this point, to me anyway, and it's flaws are even more pronounced in today's modern VF designs, when compared to Macross Delta and Frontier. I still have my Yamato 1/48 VF-1s and they're all I need.
The VF-1 is timeless! There's magic in the fact that the design is pretty simple but still looks like a realistic fighter jet and a really cool robot and even looks good if you stop half way between the two. There's also magic in the fact a lot of kids spent their time daydreaming of better VF-1 toys in elementary and middle school and now are grown-ups with disposable income. If your'e in it just to have one though, then I'd highly recommend you retiring that Yamato sometime in the next couple years and upgrading to the Bandai DX.

@@masterlex34 That is an ancient Flightpose display stand. They make them differently these days. Calibre Wings sells a similar display stand.
@@ScorchedEarthToys thank you!
Thanks for the review, I almost bought a gold one from the promo pics, seeing it here saved me some disappointment

The red looks awesome.
Fast pack looks really cool with the gold.

Which looks better in hand RED or GOLD?

The metal in the feet adds some nice heft but does make the legs a bit floppier. It's a little inconvenient but the other issues were more annoying.

Another great one, laddie. :) I wonder if nail clippers will work on trimming down the missile clamps?

No? This toy is made by a newer company: KitzConcept

To most Macross fans the VF-1 is the equivalent to the granddaddy Gundam.
I feel the same way, but I am the type of person who would like to see niche figures like the Elysion and Vf-(?) Cutlass, so I can’t really complain.
@@aguynamedlynx6397 The Cutlass is a truly odd bird (I'd love to see it too). It's the VF-9.

Timeless indeed.
Too bad niche valks and the macross classes would never sell as much as the vf-1s
The Black/Gold version...if Poe Dameron decided to go Macross.
