@@jaime3465 that’s the only issue I have! I like to wear with nato straps and the Longines ones are not cheap! Cheapest I found was 15usd from strapcode. A bit harder to find.
I tried on both the Black and the Blue and it was a hard decision and a matter of taste. The Black was nice but the Blue just popped and spoke to me. But everyone has a different taste. The Blue is a darker Royal Blue and in Low light almost looks Black, however in the Sun the dial shines and the Blue looks Gorgeous. Try them on both and then decide.
Love it. The 39 is far better, proportionally. One thing that irked me about the 42 was that the date window was too high up. The 39 brings it more into alignment. Seriously considering this release now that the date window is better positioned. S&G variant is not my cup of tea. Almost wish they would go full gold as opposed to two tone.
I hadn't noticed the date window and I was going to buy the 42mm. It would have driven my OCD wild once I noticed. Im going to get the 39mm now. Thank you
I think this was a grand slam by Longines. This is the impact I've been waiting from them. I know they have a really long horological history but never found their watches that appealing as they tend to, in the modern iterations anyway, be so big-- whether it is the case or the Arabic numbers, or hands. This one tones it back down with perfect sized Arabic numbers and a simplistic but elegant hands. The date window blends into the theme seamlessly and I always loved the 5 stars at the bottom. I hate green and gold as I think it's very old fashioned but man, the Zulu time makes that combo also irresistible. Perfect shades of green and gold! And 39mm is perfect and also being 1mm thinner than the Tudor GMT is HUGE! Watches have begun to look like towers on our wrists. What a release from Longines. Bravo!
Exactly my thoughts too. I was saving up for the SMP300 until longines released the zulu time. Personally i find this watch better looking and just for half the price. The omega can just probably wait later hahahhaa
I love it and bought the 42mm version, in anthracite and green. I also own a 1995 Conquest (quartz) with a perpetual calendar. I must add that a few years ago, the perpetual calendar stopped working. Despite being many years after the warranty period, Longines replaced the movement at no cost. I was perfectly willing to pay but, who would have expected that kind of customer service? Anyway, I am thrilled with my Zulu time.
Longines have put out a very good watch indeed. Very well made, lovely craftsmanship on the dial and now smaller and thinner. They certainly have done there homework here. They are all wonderful but I particularly like the gold version.
I cannot wait to get my hands on this beautiful watch! Tried the 42mm last year and it was waaaay too big, which left me really sad because I love the design. This might change! 😍 Thanks for listening Longines!
I think this is a very classy release with the added advantage for me in that it's made of titanium which is hypo allergenic and wonderfully lightweight. I was in the watch trade for nearly 40 years (retired 2012) and we were main stockists for Longines. As an independent retailer and owner of my shop in the Strand, London, we were one of the biggest sellers of Longines watches in the UK. I was lucky enough to be taken on an all-paid-for trip (with other lucky retailers all over the UK) to Switzerland to visit the Longines factory over two days. It was a real eye-opener and we got to walk through the factory and see many of the working stages in progress. It's a terrific brand and I think it's probably a bit underrated. In my opinion it provides pretty much all the luxury features one could want at a very reasonable price.
I just purchased the Blue Version of this watch today and it is a gorgeous watch. The Boutique I was in is located in Heilbronn Germany and has been at the same Location since 1946. I bought a Seiko watch there back in the late 70's and the storefront hasn't changed but they inside has. They no longer sell Seiko Watches but only High End watches like Rolex and Omega, Tudor, Glasshuette Original, Tag Heuer, Nomos and Longines. I tried on a Tudor Black Bay GMT and while I liked it a lot as well, I chose the Longines not because of the Price but because it looked better on my wrist. The Blue Dial just speaks to me and along side of my Omega Seamaster 300 also in Blue it is difficult to decide which watch to wear each day. Thanks for your Stellar Reviews and the Honest Pros and Cons. The lume definitely isn't the best but I didn't buy the watch for the lume. Most of the time I will be looking at my watch during daylight hours and if I need to know the time at night I look at my Cell Phone. Overall this is a Great watch and it wears well on a small or a large wrist like mine. At 20 centimeters they actually had to add a link the the bracelet in order for me to wear it comfortably. They did charge me 30 Euro Extra for the Link but it was well worth it. Thanks again for your excellent reviews. I hope I make it up to your Boutique in Cleveland some day. I used to live in Indianapolis, Indiana but moved to a milder Climate in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. But I will make a point to visit your boutique since my next watch will be the Omega Speedmaster Moonphase in you guessed it a Blue Dial. I almost bought it at this Boutique in Heilbronn but with their 19% Value added Tax it costs a couple of Thousand Dollars more here than in the States. Have a wonderful Weekend and I truly enjoy your videos and hope to one day meet you in person.
Picked up a AMZWATCH's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!
I bought this watch three weeks ago in the green version with a bracelet. It fits perfectly on my 20 cm wrist and there is still room to increase it by one point on the bracelet clasp. At a temperature of 22-24 degrees Celsius - accuracy -2 seconds per day. For 48 hours late -3 seconds. There was also a surprising situation when after 3 days it had a delay - minus 5 seconds and lying on the table at night its work evened out to 0 seconds :) The watch was very well made. Please note that this is not included in advertising materials and professional videos on YT: the convex sapphire glass gives a lot of reflections on the surface. I highly recommend this watch.
got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on AMZWATCH 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.
What a smart decision. The 42 mm was too big for a lot of people, and 39 is the perfect number. I would like to see more colors though, but overall, great decision by Longines 👏🏼
I see Teddy already bought his 🤣 solid piece. Sold my 42mm a couple of months ago in anticipation of this and just ordered the green bezel variant today!
tried on a few days ago. dimensions are simply perfect for my 18 cm wrist. i think i'll definitely pull the trigger on this, just waiting a few months to allow dealers stabilise on a street price. also, i haven't decided yet between the slate black or the sunray blue dial. i have only minor comments: a muted double color of the bezel would've been appreciated, as well as a 24/48 click bezel to allow retain some time measuring capacity. as always i find a pity not having a 24h marking on the rehaut (only GS seems to keep thinking about it), and yes, a quick adjustment would've been great. anyway, definitely the best gmt on the market considering quality/price.
If i was to sell half of my small collection, and upgrade it to a single, more valuable watch, this would probably be the one. Other option would be an Seiko SLA. This zulu time is one of the best, if not the best looking gmt watch ever made. I could even say it's one of the best looking watches in general. And i don't even have use for the gmt, but the watch is so well designed.👌🏻
Thanks for all your reviews! I jumped into the watch market and went for my first REAL watch not knowing what I wanted…when I saw this watch black face with the gold outlined numbers and green bezel, it looked so good I had to have it!!! I saw it in pictures previously but in person It really is a spectacular watch! Thanks again !
I own the 42 in slate and green with both the strap and bracelet. My 7 inch wrist can pull it off, especially with the strap which wears smaller lug to lug. I usually prefer my sports watches between 39-41, 42 if it wears true or smaller. I thought I would’ve like the 39mm better but it just seems off especially on the bracelet with the lug to lug looking disproportionately long. That said, this series fit and finish is top notch…and the lume is fine.
Just got new Seiko GMT, SPB383J1 and absolutely love it, I bought 1300 dollars for that. If I would have 3000 dollars, there's no doubt my choice would have been Longines Zulu. Absolutely love the green shade
@5:37 I didn’t realize how much I’d love the polished ring before I bought my Spirit. It catches the eye at random times and positions to remind you of the care and attention to detail that Longines put into this line of watches.
I look at a lot of flieger and GMT watches and the Zulu time is really on its own in terms of its design language. The execution is perfect. I don't mind so much that it does not have the quick adjust as it is a pilot's watch and not a dive watch. Whatever it lacks in that aspect it makes up with it's quick end link release on the bracelet. If you really want quick adjust then you can also get the strap. I tried out the black dial during a local visit to my AD offered to me at a discount if purchased in cash or CC.
Absolutley has heritage and provenance. Love the '39 ( black-brown strap) and it shines in so many ways. It's tough not to wear it every day. Bought it with the skillful guidence by TB representative Will. We went back and forth with the with Black Bay but landed here. I would only differ with Teddy in his review, that visually it wears closer to a 38-39 not 40. That does not diminish the Zulu's significance at all. A very special piece and the pride of my modest collection
Hallo Teddy, I love the brand, and I do have longines watches. I think they did a very good job with this model. I like the one with the gold bezel, the size is good. It is elegant for a sports watch, which means it can be worn also in the evening and that I find is important. Also the inside, you explained well and gives more appreciation for the watch. Thanks, and as always love from Switzerland 🇨🇭
I Love the 42 mm so much that i bought the black and the blue one. After one year with the black one...i Fell so in Love with this watch that i needed a Duff colour too. U have so many wow Moments during a day wearing this....also i have a omega Seamaster 300 diver and the tudor BB58. But they are actually No Match to that stunning time piece.
I really wish more watch companies used open case back.. there are so many different watches out there that I love Rolex Tudor, Cartier, longines most of their watches are all closed case back. It’s a shame because I buy mechanical/automatic watches only and I’d really love to see what’s going on underneath. It has stopped me from buying certain watches due to the fact beautiful watch great review as always, Teddy thank you.
Now Im torn in between this watch and the Hamilton Intramatic Chrono. I tried the Zulu time 42 mm last year and It was too big for my wrist and made my decision to go with the Intramatic. Now I have to wait and try the 39 mm and I have a gut feeling that the Hamilton will have to wait until 2025.
This watch Is simply beautiful . Great movement, stunning design and a relatively good value for money ratio. If searching for a true GMT from a brand with history, this is probably the best choice
I've really wanted the Zulu Time for quite a while but could just not go with the 42mm. Now they offer this brilliant time piece in 39mm for me and I will be buying. They could only improve it further by using 20mm lug width, that is a mildly irritating but not really major issue.
Longines it’s on fire 🔥, very good move, I hope that their next move would be making the 42mm version available in titanium! Excellent video as always, keep the good work my friend!
I’ve been waiting for a sub 40mm version of this watch since the initial release!!! Thank you Longines! Just wish a $3k+ watch came with screwed links and on the fly micro adjustment in the bracelet, like my more than half the price CW did.
Just saw it in person and loved it, definitely next on my list - I did think the bracelet was a little lacklustre in feel and it’ll probably go straight on a strap.
Zulu 39 with the micro adjustment leather strap clasp would be a fighter jet washing Tudor’s lumbering GMT bombers. Good looks, travelers GMT, thinner case, great value. Sign me up.
Just graduated law school. Studying for the bar. Start my job in September and I’m gonna get myself one of these when I officially get sworn in. As a new attorney I won’t yet feel comfortable spending 10k on some of the other watches I want and this one is incredible for 3k.
Thank you for shouting out for an on the fly adjustment and the 21 lug to lug. Add the new clasp and drop the lug width and I am in! I still might be in, I thought originally the black but I might be leaning blue.
What an awesome watch, keeps the best parts of the original 42mm while eliminating and reducing many of the concerns. Had this watch came out last year, I'd have a much more difficult time choosing between this and my Black Bay GMT. I still love my BB GMT for the overall design, color profile, legibility, and Pepsi bezel, but I would be excited to try the 39mm Spirit Zulu Time on my wrist.
Beautiful watches. Apparently Longines wants to go toe-to-toe with Tudor's Black Bay line, and it looks like they have put out a very competitive product line here.
Love this piece. Just bought a HydroConquest Ceramic 43mm and loving it. I also own 2 Tag Heuer chronographs, one a Carrera 1887 which is my favourite. My next watch I want to be a pilot or GMT and despite hours of research, I can’t find anything I like more at this price point, than the Spirit Zulu. The green bezel looks awesome, my wrist is large so I’m looking at the 42mm. No wait lists, so shonky grey market dealers, I can just walk into a Longines boutique or AD and buy one. Great video!
Really like it. 6.5 inch would need on strap unless you like overhang from extended male end links. Wish the green version had the red gmt hand for improved legibility….
I really like this evolution of ZULU TIME . I have already choosen the color : It will be the black and gold dial . It is hard to believe that you can get this watch for 3000 or 3500 $. It is a famous GMT watch and it is a chronometer not a chronograph. Thank you TEDDY .
Love my 42mm despite its negatives. I would love to know the sales figures of the 39mm. Weird making watch smaller but still having long lugs. 21mm lug width is great though.
The spec of this watch is fantastic and it seems like a great value for money. I could probably go for the 39 or the 42; the 39 is close in dimensions to a 114060 and I wear one of those almost everyday, but I also have bigger watches that are plenty comfortable to me and fit my 7.5” wrist just fine. It’s a handsome watch for sure, but I have to say the looks are a bit…bland? Generic? I just can’t help but feel it needs something to make it pop just a little more. I’d love to see a dual-color bezel, for example. Not necessarily a Pepsi or Coke bezel, but some sort of demarcation between night and day. I know not all GMT watches do that and plenty have fixed bezels, but if there’s a rotating GMT bezel, I want to see two colors on it. Although, that “aged” lume model is tempting me. I used to hate that look, but I’ve warmed to it over the years when done right and they nailed this one. Like you, I also sort of ignore Longines when I know I shouldn’t. I need to go check out those Big Eye Avigation models again…
Love my 42, got it on the leather because of the lack of on-the-fly adjustment on the bracelet. Truly hoping they release an updated quick adjust clasp bracelet for the 42 soon, I’ll definitely buy that bracelet.
I loved it at 42mm but thought it was too big but now at 39 they've hit it out of the park, outstanding! BTW nice pocket square touch, you're obviously elevating your sartorial style 'a la Kirby Allison' , well done.
What a great looking piece and in a better size . What I don't understand is to go to the trouble to redesign it to suit a smaller wrist and then to put male end links that are the bain of the smaller wrist collectors??
Simple test to determine if the movement in the Longine is in-house or not: Do I have to send this watch to Longine for servicing? Or can my local horologist service it?
I have the titanium non gmt version. I like it a lot, but one downside is that the clasp is not the most comfortable. The sides of the clasp dig in to your skin if you have your hands resting on the table. This is my only bracelet (others are leather or rubber) so I do not know is it any worse or better than most metal bracelets. So take my critisism with a grain of salt. It might not be that bad.
As a frequent traveler I absolutely love this timepiece. However, the fact that it does also not have a on the fly adjustable buckle is the only downside. As I travel a lot, sometimes I go from colder to warmer places and feel the need to quickly readjust the strap as it become tighter.
would love to see some more wrist shots of you wearing it, maybe as a shorts? I have the exact same wrist size as you, and am worried about those male end lnks (and getting the bracelet down to a 16cm size), typically I can't handle lug to lug of > 47mm with female end links.
I quite agree that Longines are making some outstanding watches. The 42mm Zulu time hit it out of the park and the Avigation chrono' is a stunner also.
Awesome Gmt watch. Will receive my Green bezel 39mm By August!!!! Well done Longines!👍 Oops…. Open Case Back will let me put on the Extra Star 🌟 to it. Perfect watch 😊
You knew Teddy was in love with this watch. He’s wearing a jacket, tie, and pocket square. Respect!
An awesome release from Longines. For me, I would go for the black actually. What a response from them. 42 is great but 39 is just 👌🏻
I agree, the black with the small pops of blue is gorgeous, timeless and can pair well with anything! This will be my next watch, no doubt.
I agree with you. I think at 39mm they are better able to compete in the market vs with 42mm. Too many other companies offering 40-44mm Flyer GMT’s
39 at 21mm lugs though, i really dont get longines specs
@@jaime3465 that’s the only issue I have! I like to wear with nato straps and the Longines ones are not cheap! Cheapest I found was 15usd from strapcode. A bit harder to find.

Probably the best release by any manufacturer in quite some time IMO. An absolute classic 👏👍. Love it!
Yes, this release is good. But the best one is Tudor Black Bay 54
Love it.

Was thinking the same thing!

Man that black/green/gold one looks fantastic! Great release from Longines, would definitely like to add one of these to my collection at some point

You know what’s weird? Everytime I deep dive into a new watch, if you dont have a review of it already, it will be there within a week. Great job!
I just got mine; 39 mm, green/black/gold, brown leather strap. It is absolutely gorgeous!
Congrats! I have a Conquest of Longines, I was thinking about Zulu too. How's your experience with it after 5 months?

I've got a chance to pick up the
Spirit Zulu Time Automatic GMT 42 mm Stainless Steel
With blue strap for $3500 cad / $2430usd.
Good deal?
got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on AMZWATCH 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. What a smart decision. The 42 mm was too big for a lot of people, and 39 is the perfect number. I would like to see more colors though, but overall, great decision by Longines 👏🏼
Longines is one of my favorite brands and I love that they are going smaller. Hope they bring it to other models as well.

anyway, definitely the best gmt on the market considering quality/price.
This is so great, really wanted one but the 42 was just a smidge too big.
What a smash release, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😎
These are unbelievable - on the top of my list! I wish the gold version had a 2-tone bracelet however.
100% agree. A bracelet like Tudors SG would be amazing
If i was to sell half of my small collection, and upgrade it to a single, more valuable watch, this would probably be the one. Other option would be an Seiko SLA. This is a home run, IMO. I'm glad they kept the screw-down crown on this model, because they dropped it for the 37mm Spirit.
I'm happy that they dropped it for spirit, winding is so much easier and it's still 100m water resistance.

love how these were on the grey market before most dealers.... the watch market is insane

Looks fantastic on the leather strap. Not sure I want to cough up $3k for it, though - I'll wait to see what it goes for on the secondary market.
How so? Its cheaper than the black bay pro and the gmt from tudor? Plus its chrono certified and thinner..
That steel and gold is absolutely gorgeous and is now my grail.
This watch Is simply beautiful . Great movement, stunning design and a relatively good value for money ratio. If searching for a true GMT from a brand with history, this is probably the best choice
I just bought the regular spirit champagne dial and it’s absolutely gorgeous. The bracelet is really something else to look at
I have an Hydroconquest 42 in black 42 but it wears big, I love this watch in blue 39. I might get myself one for Christmas.
Next watch is titanium Flyback in Spirit.
Super appreciate the full run of wrist size shots!!
Great, now Teddy - use your influence to get Mido to release the Oceanstar GMT in a smaller size too!
I’ve been waiting for a sub 40mm version of this watch since the initial release!!! Thank you Longines! Just wish a $3k+ watch came with screwed links and on the fly micro adjustment in the bracelet, like my more than half the price CW did.
39mm case on 21mm bracelet is just perfect proportions.
Sign me up.
I have the 42mm green bezel variant and I swear the finishing alone beats Tudor hands down. Plus all the reasons you listed lol.
The outdoor shot that really shows off the gold raised numerals sells it for me.
Just graduated law school. Studying for the bar. Start my job in September and I’m gonna get myself one of these when I officially get sworn in. As a new attorney I won’t yet feel comfortable spending 10k on some of the other watches I want and this one is incredible for 3k.
I love the Zulu but I am so in love with their Masters Collection Moonphase watches that I'd prefer it over this one
Thank you for shouting out for an on the fly adjustment and the 21 lug to lug. Add the new clasp and drop the lug width and I am in! I still might be in, I thought originally the black but I might be leaning blue.
So hard not to fall in love with any watch Teddy makes a video for like this
The aesthetics of this piece is just perfect imo. I wish I had the money to buy one
Apparently Longines wants to go toe-to-toe with Tudor's Black Bay line, and it looks like they have put out a very competitive product line here.
love EVERYTHING except the 5 stars, what, are those from yelp, too much self-advertising
such a tiny thing to have a problem with lol

So tired of seeing this comment. Longines has had 5 stars since 1960. Way before yelp, Uber, or any other 5 star review app
Basically perfect for me. The only flaw is the 21mm lug width, but that's liveable.
Great watch, 39mm makes ituch more wearable and appealing to most people.
Hi Teddy! Great review! I hope you cover the new Longines Conquest 2023 soon!
Longines & Baume et Mercier are both under appreciated brands. Love the Zulu timepiece!
Those two are my favourite brands.
I bought the 42 as soon as I could find it. I love it but if this was launched at the same time I would have preferred the 39.
That black face on a brown strap looks amazing.
I love this watch and this video
You’ve driven home not only how great the watch is but it’s heritage from a criminally underrated brand.
Many thanks
A great release from Longines in a more appealing size. Next I hope Longines release a faithful version of their Dirty Dozen watch. 😁
The quick release bracelet and the extension on the strap is very nice. The gold on black watch might be calling my name.
Beautiful timepiece. The arabic numerals are sleek and clean and I wouldn't mind adding this to my collection.
Green Bezel, gold frame and Brown leather strap, yes please!!!
Love it. The Longines Zulu time 42mm will be my next watch purchase and probably be my everyday go to.
If they released an updated version of their 1925 Zulu Time watch (especially for it's 100th anniversary) that would be really neat.
Longines is one of those mainstream brands who really do listen to their market.
If only there was a display caseback option; that would have been the icing on the cake
What a great looking piece and in a better size . What I don't understand is to go to the trouble to redesign it to suit a smaller wrist and then to put male end links that are the bain of the smaller wrist collectors??
Teddy is simply the man.
Simple test to determine if the movement in the Longine is in-house or not: Do I have to send this watch to Longine for servicing? Or can my local horologist service it?
I’m trying to decide between the new Zulu and new hydroConquest ?? Any suggestions?
It would be better in 40mm. I tried the 39mm. 99% perfect. The Spirit at 40mm is simply perfectly sized. Just my opinion.
It might not be that bad.
this is an insanely good looking GMT watch. I do not mind the stars at all, i kinda like it
Very beautiful watch with plenty options for different dial straps material etc… nice job from Longines ❤️❤️❤️
I said I’d stop after getting a BB36 a couple months ago. That didn’t age well.
I have the exact same wrist size as you, and am worried about those male end lnks (and getting the bracelet down to a 16cm size), typically I can't handle lug to lug of > 47mm with female end links.
this watch pops, something about it stands out from the rest while remaining tasteful and refined.
Awesome watch! You’re looking sharp, Teddy.
Saving money for one of these. I love the look of green bezel, black dial one.
I have the 42. It's perfect.
Agree. I own one as well
IM ACTUALLY A ZULU FROM SOUTH AFRICA ..SEEING THIS IS HILARIOUS 😂😂and low key a flex
I quite agree that Longines are making some outstanding watches. The 42mm Zulu time hit it out of the park and the Avigation chrono' is a stunner also.
Awesome Gmt watch.
Will receive my Green bezel 39mm
By August!!!!
Well done Longines!👍
Oops….
Open Case Back will let me put on the Extra Star 🌟 to it. Perfect watch 😊
We need some Conquest 2023 content Teddy!!!!
