Ppl seem to forget that it was only until recently because of the injury that Halep hasn't really been in the talk and left the top 10. She was the most consistent player not leaving the top 10 for like 7 years.
Consistent in the quarter and semi's and finals but winning.
She should easy have 7/8 grand slams but her mental game is weak
@@sweets3745 It has nothing to do with mentality but Cahill's awful coaching. That he only has 3 majors in 27 years of coaching speaks volumes.
@@sweets3745 I agree that she should at least have 5 at this point, but it doesn't negate how consistent she's been for YEARS. Also many of those years Serena was simply dominating. Not much anyone could've done.

@@mascancris6152 I'm Romanian and a fan of her, but to blame her shortfalls on Cahill is super-bias. "Her mental game is weak" is a very accurate statement. Hopefully Mouratoglou will be able to help her overcome these issues and she'll reach her potential. Cahill only helped her career.
Halep is so much experienced that she can easily beat top ten players even she is just coming back from an injury. That's the advantage of having to play against players like Maria and Serena when you are young

Totally. It’s the same thing I say about Djockovic. He came up having to beat Fed or Nadal to win so many tournaments that now his 3rd year game is stronger than most!
Playing Serena and Maria and the other greats of this era definitely make her fit to beat top 10 players with no majors.
100% Her early experience is serving her well now. And we forget she was world #1 and a grand slam champ.
Patrick Mouratoglou really having a significant impact on Sim. The willingness to be aggressive and her serving amazing. She's a real contender for the clay season.

Why is everyone coming for Serena’s past coaches? First Naomi and now Halep. Now Halep is shouting Come On like she’s the next Serena Williams. I noticed Osaka does that as well. Everyone’s just trying to emulate Serena so she’s doing things right.

It is obvious that Mouratoglou has completely redrawn Simone's defensive tactic. Today Halep was a real attacker. Unusual :) Patrick is a brilliant coach
The type of game Simo played until 30yo is extremely physical and very injury-prone (as we could see for the last two seasons), so her only chance to get back in top 10 and also extend her career (I think she wants to end her career in Paris 2024, with an olympic medal, gold if possible) is to be more aggressive, take the ball early and improve her technical arsenal (dropshot, smash, slice, etc...) and come forward and close the points at the net, if possible :-)
Paula didn't play bad, but Simo was ruthless today. Love to see her playing with such a determination. Way to go champ!

@@SmithyPL I think fans know Simona is a top caliber player who’s been injured for a while and, she has a major coaching change. But her normal spot has been No. I just a few years ago. Her fans are just being optimistic, which doesn’t mean anybody is degrading Swiatek. Now the Barty has retired, Swiatek is going to be challenged, just as every other No 1 player has been. That’s the nature of the game, you’ll get over it!

Well, who ever did these highlights missed the two most beautiful points of this match: an awesome short crosscourt forehand in the first set and a beautiful volley in the second set, both shots by Simona..

Never ever forget that players like Simona or Naomi Osaka are former number one and grandslam champion. They can easily come and be the winner especially to new comers in top ranking. They lost their ranking bcos injury, but they never lose their domination when in good perform.

I’m following Simona since 2014. Never seen her play this aggressive in her career. This must definitely be Mouratoglou’s touch as its been for years with Serena
She was even more aggressive when she beat Serena to grab the Wimbledon in 2019. Then Muratoglu was in Serena's corner, which shows that if not injured this girl is hungry to prove more to the world.

Simona has a bit more power than before... she hit 180Km serves in at the first set, she hit a bit more powerfull on backhand and a bit more powerfull on some forehand. I believe her decision trained with Mouratoglou is a good decision

...and THAT"S how great Simona Halep is. Badosa is a tremendous talent, and a relentless competitor -- yet she was definitely bested in this one. I imagine any rematch would be a tight battle but for now, Simona is in charge.

It was a tough draw for Badosa. Paula's great on clay but this is undoubtedly Halep's best surface. She's a French Open champion,
and rarely gets eliminated earlier in tournaments on clay, so the result wasn't surprising.

Halep is only player, who is the only real threat to Świątek on clay.
I thought that Badosa had a chance to win over Halep as current world no.2 even though it is clay. What did Simona do lately? Her play is so sharp and refreshing that I thought she was the second seed of this tournament. AMAZING!!! She is definitely the most dangerous unseeded player on clay.

and what badosa is doing last weeks? returning easy balls to rybakina and waiting for her mistakes or losing with awful sabalenka, also barely won with Liu in charleston, who is following tennis knew Halep is a big favourite, only question mark was Halep's fitness
Backed Simona to win this but didn't think it would be this comfortable. I'm not a fan of Mouratoglou (as much as he knows his shit) at all but I'll always be in Simona's corner. I hope she can win another slam or two.

They've already played this year semifinal in Indian Wells, and the first set was legendary, I've never seen a player smashing her rocket with such a fury like Simona did, she wanted to win so much and was so determined, and she was very close , but Iga was in the middle of her current streak, just unbeatable champ on a mission ;)

Now that Simona seems fit plus with a new Coach, I think she's a serious contender not only for the 2022 Mutua Madrid Open but for RG! A great match and congratulations to both Simona and Paula. It's unfortunate that Paula got a beating in her own soil but I hope this is a good call for her Team to adjust to different players especially to the more experienced ones who were in the Top 10 before.
