Literally just stepped in the door from watching this live. This has been my first week to watch live professionals play at a tournament and it was all around a great tournament that ended with one of my all time favorite players winning! Great fight Simo

I loved this match. Simo played good, and Maia had a great shot selection, good serve, she didn't give up, but in crucial moments she tried to be decisive and missed. Halep was patient even if her serve wasn t that good and won.

Excellent match by both. Simona looked great in winning her 24th career title. This her 9th career 1000th crown. Had, no idea, she’d won that many. 18th appearance in a 1000th final, tying Serena in that department. Any time you tie Serena in anything, you are doing extraordinary. Of course, the WTA used to call these tournaments Premier 5s not Masters 1000s. That may have been the reason most of us weren’t familiar with Halep’s achievement. Now has more overall Masters 1000 victories than even Serena (185).
Haddad Maia’s sudden rise is, also, spectacular. From, basically, a journeywoman till the grass court season started earlier this summer to now having to be considered as a legitimate contender to win a Grand Slam. Amazing!!!
As for the match, it was quite well-played. Halep started out struggling on serve; 4 DFs in her 1st service game to get broken but then quickly righted the ship. By the end of the match, Simona had her serve on point. As for Haddad Maia, despite this being, by far, the biggest match of her career it appeared she had very few nerves. She was ready for the moment. Halep was able to win because she played her best match of the tournament and was quite successful in neutralizing Haddad Maia’s pace. This is one thing that Coach Patrick Morataglou has clearly added to her game. Halep’s own power has substantially increased and it showed in this match. Now you know why Simona had hired Morataglou. She wouldn’t have won this title without him. I’m, thinking, could we see this matchup again in 4 weeks, in the final of the U.S. Open? I wouldn’t bet against it.
Bravo Simona, I am not your fan, but I always appreciate your determination and your role in women's tennis, you are great and I will always respect you.

Such a great match from both! Yeah, Haddad Maia today wasn't that great like she was in the previous matches but tried to fight till the end. But whole credit to Halep who showed more composure and class and deservedly got her first WTA1000 title of the year. Happy to see her back to the best mode (since tomorrow she will be #6 in ranking). She showed she isn't ended and her Renaissance only starts! About Haddad Maia - her season is impressive - from not top 100 player to serious dangerous to the best WTA players. So happy from the fact she will debut in top 20! She deserves to be in top 10. Brazil should be proud of her. It would be interesting how both will perform in US Open, my expectations about them are high.

Wow. We must have watched a different match. Haddad choked big time. Halep’s serve was so for the taking as was shown in set 2 but Haddad could not keep it up. Congrats to Simona But it was not very good
@@johnrosenbaum585 well, it's fact there were many unforced errors. And as i said Bia didn't play that well like she played against Leylah, Iga, Belinda, Karo. Simona also did not few errors but in the end she was the calmer one and did that. Also it was better quality than Halep-Pegula tbh.

WOW! Great match. It was a slugfest and had a couple of 28-shot rallies. But Simona hung tough and proved again why she is a Champion. Of course, Beatriz is a warrior as well. Loved watching Simona and Patrick enjoy her victory at the conclusion. And some people say that Women's Tennis is boring! What???

Simona - Smaller in stature than most on the WTA, but absolutely larger when it comes to being a fighter on the court, scrambling for every single point. Well done Simona!
Great match between a great champion and a future champion. I hope that Simona will stay with us for several years to come, and that she will get back to be amongst the very best again ! 🎾🎾🎾
The match was very dramatic but not the best on both sides. Simona whom I adore won being more consistent, she won being calmer in long returns because of her great experience. Hadad is very good, has some handicaps over other players like her hight, body build and she is lefthanded which gives players a tough time to adjust and her serves can be ATP class. Bea has positive agressive attitude. Ehat us very snnoying us her roar imitating the sound if the hawkeye which can be very distructive for some player. Simona also makes a lot of noise so she was not distructed by Bea. Todays final dhies that you can be 164cm high, serve with the speedll a little over 100km/h and win by consistency. Simona had two panic attacts this season, quite recently and I hope that will not occur in the US. What bothered me was the constant coaching Hadad was receiving. Bebire a point, during and after...very unfair even though now allowed. SHE and her team have overdonebthis throughout the whole tour, in every single gameb and point. I wonder hiwxwould she realy played without the coaching. ANSWER YOURSELF...very unsporty for me.

Simona Halep was simply amazing. Great match by both ladies. Both played great. Simona Halep simply was better player this time. She was able to raise her level at crucial moments. She played those key points awesome. She won this tournament despite having a lot of double faults and having weak serves. She during this tournament showed why she is former world #1 in women's singles and why she is one of the best female tennis players on tour right now. She never gave up and shown that winner's attitude and winner's fighting spirit. Beatriz Haddad Maia also was unexpectedly great. Now I see why she defeated Swiatek, Bencic and Pliskova. She simply was better than them. I think that that her reaching this year's Australian Open women's doubles Final gave to her huge confidence in her abilities and that's why she is doing so well in singles too this season. Beatriz Haddad Maia might be the dark horse during the US Open. She might have deep run in this year's US Open. She is such a great tennis player. Simona Halep too is awesome tennis player. That hug from Beatriz Haddad Maia and Simona Halep was so nice. It shows that they are very very kind hearted tennis players. Congratulations Simona Halep on winning Canadian Open tittle. Well done. Haddad was a warrior but Halep's greater experience made the difference.
Not gonna lie but when I first saw who is in the final I had a feeling Halep is not good enough anymore to be able to resist Beatriz but while I watched the match I realised that even if she's not as dominat as in 2018 she still can achieve great things. I hope she and Patrick are going to give us a lot more beautiful moments like these ones 🥰

Halep is a little unpredictable nowadays but has a good season so far. if she won that Rybakina match, she could have won this year's Wimbledon. Who knows which Halep will show up at the US Open?
Would love nothing more than Halep winning the US Open but her recent record there is poor... high bounce doesn't do her many favours either...

I wanted BHM to win. Wonderful player, but Halep was superb today. Halep was measured and calculating, and exhibited great patience. Nothing should be taken away from her, but Maia did much to help in her own defeat. BHM just couldn't consistently find the right angles for her shots and made several bad decisions which presented gifts to Halep, e.g. playing the ball into Halep's strike zone when the other side of the court was open. Other than my favourite losing, I'm happy for Halep, who has been struggling all season. This is a great outcome for her. I'm just sorry it had to come at the expense of BHM.

eu amo demais as duas e meu coração ficou muito dividido, estou muito feliz pelo grande retorno da Halep aos grandes títulos e espero que isso lhe dê muita motivação para seguir ainda melhor nos próximos torneios, quanto a Bia eu estou muito feliz por ela ter feito uma grande campanha e passando por grandes nomes, agora ela marca seu nome entre as 20 melhores do mundo e pode continuar fazendo história, só nós brasileiros sabemos o quão difícil é se tornar um grande atleta pelo país devido ao baixo investimento no esporte, mas mesmo assim a Bia provou ser uma guerreira em Toronto, espero que ela consiga grandes conquistas pela frente e nos dê muito orgulho!
