Surprisingly enough, for me it was the Rogers Dynasonic snare, it seems to have more depth even though it's a 5 1/2 x14 shell, it really speaks volumes and could be used in any genre of music.
Toughest round of Drumble so far, each snare drum was top notch! 1. Sonor--it covers almost all tones I'd need 2. Tama---amazing fat tone at low tuning, a delight to my ears 3. Rogers--easily could have been number 1 for me, no cons at all 4. British--yes, it's number 4 on my list but I'd be very happy with this snare as well
The Sonor (just) over the Dynasonic. Which is odd because when I play my 6.5" Vintage Snare in my room it's actually one of my least fave drums, just goes to show it's made for mics. The Dynasonic has that extra something with the snare response and there are times in the video where you can hear the signs that it's actually a pretty quiet drum in real life. I have one of those too (bought from DCP) and it's one my absolute fave drums because it does something nothing else quite manages.
Ooooh, this is a tough one. All are fine snare drums! Overall, I'd pick the Rogers Dynasonic. All around great sound at either tuning, whether full mix or room mics! The BDC and Tama were close, for me anyway, but seemed to lack the same crispness of the Rogers. The sonor I thought had too much ring, especially at the lower tuning with room mics. I suppose it could be dampened out. In my opinion, dampnening should not be required. IDK - maybe it's because of the oddball 5-3/4" depth?
I admit I'm biased but I'm going with the Tama STAR Walnut on this. To my ears it has the nicest sound, gives the best pop, and you can hear plenty of low end in it (which I like in snares)
It was close for me between the Tama and Sonor. There was something different about the Sonor and I definitely thought it was the best at low and high tunings. Beautiful drum
In lower tuning the Rogers sounded great with the classic hoops, but for the higher tuning it still sounded lower pitch and less defined. Have to give it to the Sonor as it sounded amazing and crisp at both tunings.
First time in this series I don't know what drum I prefer. They all good sounding, but none of them really impressed me. May be Rogers sound is the most common and universal for my taste
This is the first time that I loved all four for different styles of music they would be good for. For versatility, the Roger's has it in for every kind of gig you could use it at.
They're all really nice snare drums lmao, but if you held me at gun point to choose I fw the Tama lol. The Icarus was a close one cause it feels huge sounding and I usually like that typa sound, but the Tama clicks to me more. Love the silly drum vids yall lol
So, it occurred to me that I’ve never heard a Sonor drumset in real life. I think. They’re just not as popular around here as elsewhere. Yet, I’ll toss my hat to them this week. The vintage is that type of sound done right. Just straightforward, and excellent.
I own the Dynasonic re-issue and the exact same Sonor snare. The Dyna is the most unique in tone of pretty much all of the snares I own. It just has its own sound and feel that is exclusively Dynasonic. But the Sonor snare is my favorite of the 16 snares I own. It is the most perfect balance of tone, feel, and projection at any tuning. No matter what you do to it, it sounds like THAT is the sweet spot. Sonor Vintage all the way for me.
I had to watch this a few times to pick a winner and I kept coming back to the Rogers. It has that old vintage vibe to it but with a modern twist. It sounded great in both tuning ranges 👍🏻
USA! USA! USA! "Today, we have a Tama from Japan, a Sonor from Germany, a Pearl from Japan and a British Drum Company from... uh... Britain" 😂 😂 Sorry, I just wanted to make this joke. I already voted for the Sonor in another comment 😅
I'd be happy with any of these. The Sonor and BDC are my favorites, even though I love Tama drums myself. 1) Sonor Vintage 2) BDC Icarus 3) Star Walnut 4) Rogers Dynasonic
The Sonor Vintage. Very good clear pop, snare on or off, full or room mics, heard through my Technics ear gear. Also, let’s not forget looks.
Yeah, that finish is gorgeous. ❤
1) Rogers Dynasonic
2) Sonor Vintage Beech
3) Tama Star Walnut
4) BDC Icarus
Thank you for doing this competition. I look forward to it every week. I know, Mr. Excitement. 🙃
Rogers Dynasonic I think wins it for me.
This is a really tough one! It's between the Sonor and The Rogers. My choice. 1: Rogers, 2. Sonor, 3. Tama, 4. BDC.
Surprisingly enough, for me it was the Rogers Dynasonic snare, it seems to have more depth even though it's a 5 1/2 x14 shell, it really speaks volumes and could be used in any genre of music.
I’ve gotta go with the Tama Star Walnut. What a crack! The darkness and complexity are just a winner…and that Japanese Sen - so gorgeous!!!❤
It's the Dynasonic! Clear and crisp at both tunings. Thanks for all the great content!
Wow, was going to be the Icarus but that Sonor sounds so balanced and versatile! Sonor for me
Felt the same!
Toughest round of Drumble so far, each snare drum was top notch!
1. Sonor--it covers almost all tones I'd need
2. Tama---amazing fat tone at low tuning, a delight to my ears
3. Rogers--easily could have been number 1 for me, no cons at all
4. British--yes, it's number 4 on my list but I'd be very happy with this snare as well
Rogers all day long!
The Sonor (just) over the Dynasonic. Which is odd because when I play my 6.5" Vintage Snare in my room it's actually one of my least fave drums, just goes to show it's made for mics. Really like the Tama sound. Very nice.
1. Sonor
2. Rogers
3. Tama
4. British
The Roger’s sounded the best overall in all aspects both full mix and room mic
I really like the "cough" of that Tama but for overall control and clarity it's got to be that sonor vintage! Sonor for the win!
Roger's Dynasonic is my #1 for this group.
The Roger’s gets my vote. Great tuning range!
Tama
Sonor
British
Rodgers
All very good snares
Not easy to pick a winner
I find these impossible to rank… but the Dynasonic is sitting really well with me today.
1. Sonor Vintage
2. British Drum Company Icarus
3. Rogers Dynasonic
4. Tama walnut
Not what I would have guessed
This one was tough.
1. ROGERS
2. TAMA
3. SONOR
4. BDC
Tough, as usual, but I'm going with Rogers....with Sonor a close second. tough to compare a 6 1/2 with a 5 or 5 1/2.....
Very close this week
1 - Tama star walnut
2 - Sonor retro beech
3 - BDC Icarus
4 - Rogers dynasonic
Ooooh, this is a tough one. All are fine snare drums! Overall, I'd pick the Rogers Dynasonic. All around great sound at either tuning, whether full mix or room mics! Hewwww doggy thats a good un!
Sonor Vintage for the win.
BDC Nicko McBrain close second
Sonor is my favorite drum in this round. Awesome sounding instrument!
I admit I'm biased but I'm going with the Tama STAR Walnut on this. To my ears it has the nicest sound, gives the best pop, and you can hear plenty of low end in it (which I like in snares)
rogers, sonor, tama, bdc
Dynasonic for me, it was close with Sonor but the dyna sounded bigger despite the shallower depth.
The Rogers gets my vote. Second place would be for the Sonor. Thx for these videos!
That dynasonic would be awesome for my 4th of July gig.
It was close for me between the Tama and Sonor. There was something different about the Sonor and I definitely thought it was the best at low and high tunings. Beautiful drum
1. Rogers
2. British Drum Co.
3. Tama
4. Sonor
They all sound great!
I’m not a Roger’s drummer or fan, but it surprised me. So I pick Roger’s for my top pick.
Not a huge fan of 5 (+) inch snare drums, but I think the Dynasonic is my favorite of the four.
In lower tuning the Rogers sounded great with the classic hoops, but for the higher tuning it still sounded lower pitch and less defined. Have to give it to the Sonor as it sounded amazing and crisp at both tunings.
Rogers dynasonic first for me. It had my favorite overtones at high tuning and was interesting at low tuning
First time in this series I don't know what drum I prefer. They all good sounding, but none of them really impressed me. May be Rogers sound is the most common and universal for my taste
👍🏻
Rogers did it for me. Thank you guys!
I am picking the Rogers Dynasonic.
Rogers...

Rogers
Rogers dynasonic most definitely
Dynasonic in first, with Sonor Vintage a close second.
Dynasonic, especially at the higher tuning
Sonor, BDC, Rogers, Tama. I really liked all of them.

This is the first time that I loved all four for different styles of music they would be good for. For versatility, the Roger's has it in for every kind of gig you could use it at.
Red White and Blue Rogers sounds sweet!
Sonor Vintage
Thanks for another quality video! My final order is: 1) Tama Star Walnut, 2) Sonor Vintage Series, 3) BDC Icarus, and 4) Rogers Dynasonic.
They're all really nice snare drums lmao, but if you held me at gun point to choose I fw the Tama lol. The Icarus was a close one cause it feels huge sounding and I usually like that typa sound, but the Tama clicks to me more. Love the silly drum vids yall lol

The Roger's Dynasonic sounds incredible all the way around. Red White & Blue 10 out 10. Stellar series.
So, it occurred to me that I’ve never heard a Sonor drumset in real life. I think. They’re just not as popular around here as elsewhere.
Yet, I’ll toss my hat to them this week. The vintage is that type of sound done right. Just straightforward, and excellent.

The British drum company and rogers was my two favorite
I wasn't expecting it, as I'm just not familiar with the company, but the BDC Icarus won me over completely.
1) British Icarus
2) Sonor
3) Rogers Dyna
4) Tama
I had to watch this a few times to pick a winner and I kept coming back to the Rogers. It has that old vintage vibe to it but with a modern twist. It sounded great in both tuning ranges 👍🏻
1.Rogers Dynasonic
2. Sonor
They have so much musicality and atack and definition at the same time! Love it! THANK YOU DCP !
This week is the Sonor winning for me, gorgeous drum too as well as great sound through all tuning ranges
I love them all!!!!! I pick the Sonor. Sounds great, looks fantastic!!!!
The Icarus! More body, harmonically pleasing overtones.
Love the (1) SONOR
(2). BRITISH
(3). ROGERS
(4). TAMA. All great but to put in order to my ear, this is how they rank!!!!
USA! USA! USA! "Today, we have a Tama from Japan, a Sonor from Germany, a Pearl from Japan and a British Drum Company from... uh... Britain" 😂 😂
Sorry, I just wanted to make this joke. I already voted for the Sonor in another comment 😅

4. Tama walnut
1/ BDC Icarus 2/ Sonor 3/ Tama 4/ Roger’s, but they all sounded great! Thanks guys, I look forward to the Drumble!
British Drum Company is the winner. It's ugly, but sounded the best (to me). Tama takes the second place, Sonor 3rd, Rogers is last.
