Honestly, Bmw are really clean burning engines. I put my n54 stock flash with a single turbo. If you don’t pass 2k rpm no lights will turn on or limp modes. Smog sensors will get ready. Visual will not pass obvious.

Bro, you need to do the BMW drive cycle. Just did it for smog two weeks ago. Takes 30 min with a serious of specific drive modes. I have a cheap ODB2 monitor from Amazon to check the “I/M readiness.” You can also check codes on MHD as well.
Do you need to do this whenever you take the cats off and then put them back on?
Yes, remove race cat before smog, mount stock cat, insure O2 sensors are plugged in properly. Clear codes and I flashed back to stock tune. Then follow the BMW drive cycle test. The BMW drive cycle for my BMW was more forgiving then the test guidelines meaning I didn’t follow it to the Letter. Executing the 60 mph to 20 mph slowdown without using pedal brake 3 times did the trick for me. A 10-15 min drive at 60 mph, got 3 sensors ready, then the 60 to 20 mph without pedal brake got the rest of sensors ready with the exception of EVAP. Need to be at 3/4 to 1/4 tank of fuel to get EVAP ready. EVAP will clear next day on next cold start with 2-5 idle warm up.
This is the bmw drive cycle test I followed as my guideline which worked.

@@XTadeobuscusX replied to your question. See the link I provided on the post. Yes, follow bmw drive cycle test after removing race cat/downpipe and mounting stock cat/downpipe. It’s what I had to do to pass smog.
I’m working on getting my emission monitors reset too. There’s supposed to be a quick process you can do on an open road, I think involves cruising. At 55mph constantly for a few miles and slowing down with no brakes

Are you asking either or, or paired together? I would say test pipes are louder since you’re deleting the primary cats.

This one isn’t super super clean, but it’s low miles and has a lot of potential. I check all the car websites daily in the 08-13 m3’s category. Just book mark all the sites and check em daily. There’s always new inventory. Also sign up for the emails too. You can set alerts on year make model.

What monitors didnt set brother?? Been trying to get my 02 sensor monitor to set for past 600 miles, all others were reset. This one refuses to set, about to attempt the drive cycles
Fuel pressure sensor. We got a new one! Gonna try again this week.

I might have misunderstood but were you saying they leased out your current apartment before you moved out? What about 60 day notice ? Sorry I’ve had an issue like this before and hate to see anyone get screwed by leasing companies.
Yeah, I told then I’d only stay a year. I just assumed I could renew at the last minute, but I couldn’t.
@@SpencerBerke my situation was that i actually wanted to leave. day comes of what I assume would be end of my lease but they told me that since I never turned in 60 day notice I was then “saved” by Fair Housing and pretty much forced to stay an extra 60 days on top. I know it’s not the same as you, but hey maybe you could squeeze a month or two extra. Hope all goes well 😫

I hear some non dealer shops can install a fix that makes it pass. easier than taking the entire cats off and putting them back on

@@XTadeobuscusX no it’s not. I think that is a bad idea. I went with a muffler delete and that was all I needed but everyone is different. You won’t be able to sell it with catless down pipes legally and when you go to re smog it will be hell if you don’t know what your doing (if you have to ask you don’t know)
