This is why, even if I owned one, I would never solo a ship with an interior. It isn't a difficult thing to implement permission tags, CIG is just far too lazy to do it. We have a literal God eye on our character's wrist, it wouldn't be much of anything to implement a key function tied to that Mobi which links to a ship's computer. Too bad, 10+ years and we're still looking at an amateur project.
How do you protect your game and the future of your game if people stop buying ships and stop playing this train wreck of a tech demo with no signs of improvements? Talk is cheap Mr Roberts.
The fact that they had doors that you could LOCK and sometimes unlock and keep open (Hercules large corridor to the cockpit) and then they remove that function...WHY?!? Who's Idea was this and why wasn't he FIRED!!
Don't worry, guys! We'll have everything we need in a decade or two. Just be patient and watch this year's CitizenCon keynote video to forget all about all of this! Also, open that wallet!
One thing you can do is steal the ship, set cruise control, then exit the pilot seat and draw your gun the instant you leave Armistice. If the ship owner tries to sit down and steer back into Armistice, you can kill them easily. If they don't, you still have a 50/50 chance to kill them, and then you just sit back down and fly away. And it's only a 50/50 chance if the person running cargo is decked out in full combat gear and instantly recognizes what you're doing to them. More likely they are in a respawn suit with only a pistol at best and don't figure out what's happening until after they are dead. This is a consequence of the core problem with SC. Chris wants his interactive movie. Well, guess what? Movies have scripts. Multiplayer video games don't. Movies don't have to worry about an extra in the background suddenly shooting the main character. In video games, that's not just possible, it's to be expected. This is just one of many reasons why the vision that CR has been chasing his entire career - a fusion of video game and movie - is impossible. If the game had a plan, CR and CIG would know this and, hopefully, adjust their own expectations accordingly. You cannot expect players to behave like saints when you make behaving like sinners an equally valid - and often more rewarding - gameplay path. Chastising gamers for acting like gamers on ISC does nothing (other than spawn a few good memes.) But CIG has no plan, so Jared entering High School Teacher Mode for a minute is the best they can do.
@@guynamedmaggi5520 It's better to sell a dream and let the community fill in the blanks, than to actually develop the game and by chance crush everyones own perception and idealized vision of the game.
I agree. The ships should be like the new hangers now, just envelope and activate non-armistice zones in the ship using the ship's shields as the area for it. If you want to pirate fine, but the ship's crew can fight back. As for the seat to pilot the ship just attach the player to the in-game ship purchase on the mobi glass and give the Captain a time-limited control (cleared by the captain or when stored) to add teammates to have (limited) control of any seat to Pilot, Co-Pilot, Gunner, ext and they sit there, just like the AI players or control box same as the party. So a party to get on the ship and control the party for assigned stations. If you get booted for whatever reason, you need to reassign permissions. If you find a ship that has no pilot and the shields have run down and you are planning to salvage it or repair it to use or sell. The Ship control should be blank when power is activated, just type your game name in the mobi glass and you now own the ship and that is it. But "Game Rules" must be showing on the scan. Now, what about Tiger Claws in the game, if they have a secure area to plug into the cockpit/pilot seat to imprint a copy of the current owner much like camouflage in order to gain access to the ship/hangers. You need to fully disable the owners and then use the tiger claw to copy the face and name of the downed captain (Radio Wheel on the Tigers Claw to snap ID) and run to the cockpit to insert the tigers claw into the back of the /cockpit/pilot seat and leave it there to operate that ship. As soon as you remove that tigers Claw it reverts back to the original owner as they could be respawned already, but they will need to claim the ship and report you as well. If you are already inside and the ship has not been claimed but the ship's power hasn't been run down to lower shields, then... you get booted from that ship as that owner's name is filed the ship was stolen which will disable the Cockpit/pilot seat control, even if you have a tigers claw in it you are ejected just like in the hangers. So imagine you are in QT and now you are out in space looking for a ride. If you landed the stolen ship and get booted, then you still need to wait until the shield power drains to have "Game Rules" applied so you can salvage or pilot that ship. Your Tigers claw is destroyed. But Wait there's more since the ship that just booted you, names you and crime stat applied, that ship is targeted as stolen until the power drains, even if the player applies a claim, the Insurance provider becomes the new ower to collect that ship. Bounty hunters/players or AI NPC can see ship position beeping and they take the mission are now on their way. Only once the power drains then the stolen marker dissolves, allowing you to access the ship. I think the mission cargo will still be marked as stolen if there is any and still might be trackable. Oh, if players (Pirates) are EVA ing to your ship and your ship's shields get disabled oh boy that is going to be a firefight as they can enter the ship. Get those shields up to auto-boot them. Maybe Engineers can use their skills to charge the shields like that video about Pyro and save the ship, becoming Heros! Loved the video. Sorry for the long post.
