Thanks so much for the super informative video! I’m getting excessive delay (compared to U-TAP) with atem mini pro. Someone mentioned i should match my camera output to that of Atem Mini Pro so the scalers won’t be at work & that will reduce delay. Scalers apparently help convert the resolution for atem mini, as I’m sure you know...
Do you know what camera output would be ideal to avoid scalers?

Hi Ibrahim thank you for watching our video! Unfortunately for the Atem Mini Pro you only have the option of choosing one media to be layered over your video at any one time. Remember I talked about recording a copy so that your client can store the video as an archive for future viewing or put it online for their customers to view? That is where I usually add in the logo/branding for the customer.

Hi Erwin thanks for checking out my channel! I have very little experience using bonding device but from what I've heard about the Teradek Vidiu Go, it is an awesome device for streaming but the Atem Mini Pro is more of a streaming + switcher. If you don't need a switcher maybe the Teradek is more suitable because of the ability to use Wifi, 4G and Ethernet to keep a stable connection, that itself is pretty awesome.

Hi everyone! A lot of comments seem to mention there is some lag/stutter/shuddering etc during certain time frames of the video. However I have looked back at the raw file recorded directly from the console closely and found there is no lag/frame drop etc, everything is very clean. It could be during editing and rendering of this final video that caused the stuttering. Hope that clears up any doubts regarding the raw file recorded direct from the console.

Steph, can ATEM mini pro use NDI features from software streaming programs like vMax? NDI allows multi source video feeds (think; user switchable Zoom) to be fed as independent cameras into a compatible device.
I need to have remote video streaming guests, but must be able to control who is on-air and have the ability to see two guests at a time with bugs and lower thirds.
I want a physical switcher, not just the iMax gui. thanks

Thanks a lot for the most informative video I have found so far.
I'm wondering about the PC specs for live streaming - apart from having Windows 10, are there any other requirements? Does it need a powerful cpu or lots of ram to work well for livestreaming? Or can a 6 year old pc with win10 work just as well?

    • @StephLeeTech
      @StephLeeTech  4 года назад

Hi Astrid thanks for the kind comments and I appreciate your time to watch my videos! Ok IMO and real life experience, I would say that MOST pcs should be able to handle the requirements of livestreaming if you take note of certain points
      1. internet connection
      2. upload speed
      3. dont open any other apps/programs when you do a livestream, best is to restart the pc to free up the RAM before the event
      4. don't stream at very high quality, a decent 720p should be good enough
With the above tips (in general) I think you should be good to go. The macbook pro that I'm using right now is 2014 (oh, that's 6 yrs too!) and it's doing perfectly well. Hope the information helps!

      1. DSLR with HDMI - yes
      2. Delay - Maybe but you can fix it with the Audio Delay button available in the latest Software

Yo dude, amazing content! In-depth and very easy to my brain cells! But I've got a question. Course your setup is by connecting your wireless mic into your main camera 1. So your audio comes directly from your camera then through Atem Mini Pro. What about your Camera 2 audio? Assuming you have a wide angle shot of you and your guests for your Camera 2, Will the audio be capture via Live stream at the same time if you connect a wireless mic into your camera 2? Is it possible to have two audio source that are connected to two different camera mic input and activate them using the Atem Mini Pro? And please share more videos about new gadget and keep it the way it is! Thanks for this amazing videos once again!

@@nikharrison Hi Nik! Do you mean on our RUclips video or the one that you recorded from your own ATEM Mini Pro? I have another comment mentioning about the choppy playback. I suspect it has gotta do with the recording speed of the hard disk connected to the console. Black Magic Design said you could plug in a thumbdrive to do the recording but in my experience thumbdrives can't keep up with the fast recording and the thumbdrives get overheated pretty quickly.

Hi: I'm having a weird problem with the ATEM Mini Pro that even Black Magic (BMD) support could not figure out. My church is just getting started with live-streaming. I'm using the ATEM Mini Pro with a Canon XA11 and Canon Vixia HF R800 cameras. There is only one camera setting (1080P/24mbps) that will give me a clean, sharp image on both the livestream and USB-C hard drive recording. If I try any other camera setting, the output will be a blurry, somewhat choppy/wavy output on both recordings and livestream. The issue with using the 1080P/24 camera setting is that the multi-view monitor goes blank and has a message about "signal out of range". I have tried multiple HDMI monitors and they all show that same issue. It would be very hard to livestream without the multi-view monitor working. The ATEM Mini Pro video setting is also set to 1080P/24. If I try to change that to most any of it's other settings then I get the blurry livestream image or the multi-view monitor goes blank again. BMD's suggestion was that maybe I have a defective unit, which is only a few months old. What camera/ATEM Mini Pro settings are you successfully using for the "video quality"? Thanks, Mike

    • @StephLeeTech
      @StephLeeTech  3 года назад

Hi Mike after reading your message a couple of times I might have to second BMD on this. It is indeed showing abnormalities that I don't experience with my current setup. Thanks steph, you help me a lot. Sorry for being a pain. I have got couple of Questions. I have a 2012 Macbook pro, no HDMI ,only mini displayport or Thunderbolt 2 and an old firewire 800. Should I need to buy an adapter(e.g. DP to HDMI or Firewire to HDMI)? what sort of cables I need apart from HDMI? This MAC also has a built in ethernet port, ATEM has ethernet port, can I hard wire both on ethernet router so that they can talk to each other. Do you experience an audio delay? As some says the 2 audio ports on ATEM has it. My ATEM mini pro will be delivered tomorrow. Can you import a video or animated overlay in ATEM? Kind regards.

      Hi Captain Jose! :)
Thanks for dropping by my channel and watching my videos. I'm super happy to help out with any questions you have so PLEASE don't find it a chore to ask.
      1. The older macbooks still have the ethernet ports, I think they phased it out in 2014? or somewhere around that time, that is why I had to use the adaptor. You can try attaching a LAN cable directly from your Macbook to the Atem Mini Pro Ethernet Port, I think it will work. You don't need a router because the magic of the Atem Mini Pro allows you to use the internet connection from your Macbook (which is connected by Wifi) and sharing the internet with it. (read: support.apple.com/en-sg/guide/mac-help/mchlp1540/mac_) The only reason why it may not work could be that Apple has phased out certain updates to older Macbook models but I think it's worth a try... hey! You can even save on purchasing the adaptor! [I bought it for about $50 :( ]
      2. I have not really used the Mic Ports on the console for my recordings as I usually use the AFV (Audio Follows Video) option but I have heard about the audio delays. Let me know if you experience it.
      3. I'm working on the Lower 3rds Downstream Key for animated overlays and it should be out sometime this week. Do keep a lookout for that video coming up soon!
Thanks for your time again in speaking with me, I really appreciate the time and your questions to me. I hope you enjoy your new toy and if you have any questions, please ask!

There seems to be some shuddering in the movement of the video. Is this because of the frame rate you filmed at (ie: 60p)? Or has it got something to do with the hardware conversion. At 9:13 part, when you moved your arm, movement looks shuddered

Hi JD thanks for watching our videos! The 9:13 seems pretty normal to me but on the contrary when I rewatched the video, the first 10s seems to have some stuttering if I looked closely, the part where I introduced myself "Hi everyone ..." I dug up the raw file which was recorded by the ATEM Mini Pro and I watched the whole clip again: it was perfectly smooth. I guessed it is very likely during editing on the FCPX something came up. • @StephLeeTech

Hi Zach thank you for watching our video and subscribing! Currently we use the Panasonic GH5 for our livestreaming and film-making. You don't have to buy specalised cameras as cameras nowadays should have the basic functionalities to do livestreaming. Just a couple of tips based on our experience:
      1. Make sure you have an option to set clean HDMI output. That means that you have an option to disable the display icons (e.g shutter speed, ISO, battery remaining etc) from being displayed on your output.
      2. Camera does not switch off/stop recording after 30mins of recording (some cameras have a limit).
      3. We used the Canon 5D Mark 4 for our Camera 2 in the video and the 5D Mark 4 has a mini HDMI in, meaning you need a Mini HDMI to HDMI cable. The one provided by the Canon isn't long enough so we had to use an extension. The GH5 has a full sized HDMI input so we could use our existing very long (up to 50m) cable, as well as our wireless HDMI setup.

@@StephLeeTech Thanks for your reply! I think my Sony A7iii can do clean HDMI output and it can run continuously without stopping. My last question would be on the audio sync issue as you have mentioned. I ordered the ATEM mini pro and it's arriving tmrw. I'm quite concerned about the audio sync issue especially when it comes to livestreaming an interview with a few microphone inputs. Do you have an audio mixer in mind that could help delay the audio to match the video source? I know OBS has the feature to delay audio, but I would prefer to use the Blackmagic livestream interface as much as possible.
Thanks for answering my questions, you are very helpful!

    • @StephLeeTech

@@charsiewpao4152 Hi Zach I would suggest you use the audio feed directly from the camera which is recording the video to be sure of the video/audio sync if you are doing a livestream via the AFV button. Hi Mahendran! Great to see you on our channel! Appreciate your time.
      1. The video recording is in 1080p, 60fps, in a flat profile. For my recording of about 20mins, the file size was about 2.5GB
      2. Yes the USB-C recording port only records the Program output
      3. This is a microphone input, not output. So if you have a external audio console you can connect to this Microphone port.
      4. All files will be saved until the point of power off
      5. Livestreaming most important is upload speed, so from your end you need to make sure you have fast upload speed from your Internet provider to prevent laggy video. Video quality is adjusted from the console, so if your internet speed is slow, try to choose a lower resolution for live streaming. This may result in a lower video quality but at least there will be no lag/jump cuts from your viewers
No it will not affect recording in the USB-C port, it will still be recorded in the H.264 compression at 1080p 60fps
I hope I have answered your questions, if you have any more I'll be happy to help.

In case I did not explain myself clearly, all ATEM Mini models automatically set the program output to match the format and frame rate of the number 1 video input signal it detects. All you need to do is connect your camera to input 1 and the ATEM Mini will follow its video standard.
Any other inputs will then be converted to the ATEM Mini’s video standard, which is automatically set to the video standard of the camera plugged into input 1. Of course you can always select a specific video standard manually in the ATEM Mini settings if you choose. Therefore my answer was 1080p 60fps because that was my Camera 1 settings. Thank you Daniel for watching and your kind comments! Yes the ATEM mini Pro may not be perfect but it fulfils many needs of many livestreamers. I'm sure BMD is working on the existing problems. Hang in there!
