- After how amazing the Medicom MAFEX Infinity War Thor and Black Panther were I had high hopes that Captain America would be more of the same. While it's a beautiful figure it doesn't hit the same mark, especially in the engineering department.

I loved the detail on that suit that showed he had always had the scalework under the canvas material. Then endgame brought it front and center.

I think its the only figure that has that Chris Evans likeness nailed down

Well the marvel legends wwII cap and peggy 2 pack did a pretty awesome job on chris Evans head sculpt
100% agree man. Even the hot toys version doesnt look like him. This is 100% Chris Evans.
Great head sculpt, and I wish Medicom would just sell heads because I'd love to put this head on the upcoming endgame MAFEX body.
I think the likeness is *better* than some of the third-party heads. I've seen some of those $40+ heads look just as off as the SH Figuarts, but just a different kind of off.
You know, I can agree with that. Some of the third party heads are more realistic, but a lot still don't capture Evans.
Some people are saying the manipple's nomad has better likeness, for real I'm still thinking where the f is the Evans likeness on that head.

Isn't that the one I have on my IW SHF Cap in the comparisons? Someone else commented that it looks like Ewan McGregor and now I can't unsee it. Again, it's more realistic, but not a better likeness.
That head sculpt alone makes this worth buying. Finally, a good Chris Evans likeness!
That Marvel Legends Infinity War Cap’s head has always felt like custom fodder at best to me. Like, I could use it for a random Jedi or something, but it does not pass as Steve.

Was going on eBay for Walmart Cap, but this looks good for the definitive Chris Evans. Best part for me was when they saved Scarlett Witch , BadAss Cap !!
one of those cases with mafex where you wait for figure in hand photos. when i saw the photos coming out it was an instant buy for me
You should checkout the figuarts cap vs cap or avengers 2012 cap, they redeemed themselves with that one

yes it is a very awesome looking figure sometimes I wish a lot of toy companies will wait to make an action figure so we can get a better accuracy on how a figure should look I don't mind waiting I know a lot of collectors want their figures right then in there but I'm a person don't mind waiting to see how to figure she really should look thank you for your view have a great day

I like what they're doinv with the hands, hope they keep it
While gaiters and spats do protect the lower legs from underbrush while hiking, greave(s) is the term when referring to armour around the shins. They do look more like a heavy fabric than any sort of body armour... so probably gaiters is the best term. On the other hand, they are possibly Wakandan in design therefore light flexible and armour... greaves? An instance where Mr. Mustachio don't know.
Man, despite the arms not being able to be flush to the body and limited ankle articulation, this guy looks amazing. I feel the pros outweigh the cons in this particular instance. That might be one of MAFEX’s best head sculpts to day. Easily the best 6inch Evans Cap likeness in my opinion.
That's kinda where I'm at. Annoyed with a few things but still the best IW Cap out there.

I feel like buying it though I also have the S.h.figuarts version with Manipple head but I feel the bulkier build of this Mafex captain America looks more accurate but I do not like both his arms cannot put straight down.

I've seen someone on Twitter switch the little coverings for the butterfly joint the opposite way and it made the arms sit flush on the body
What do you mean the opposite way? Do you have a link to that? I'm sure many of us would love to see it. That's one of my main complaints with the figure.
I've pulled the inner workings out, they are just a ball joint on bottom, but there's not really a way to flip around the covers themselves. I think....

@@TheFwoosh it seems the guy on Twitter who "modified" his says he just moved the straps so they don't cover the butterfly joint, from the looks of it he may of just used hot water since he mentions he didn't take the figure apart or cut anything
@@diegolaradiaz8948 thank you for sharing the tweet! From the pics and translation, I think he popped the floating shoulder cup pieces out a bit to achieve that look. I'm curious how that affects articulation. I'll have to give that a try.

Steve Rogers' arc is also my favorite in the whole MCU...though unlike Robo, I wasn't fond of how they ended it. It's a damn shame MAFEX takes so long to release their figures; by this point I'm kinda burned out of MCU characters and I moved on...just when companies are finally getting Chris Evans' face right!!!
If they ever release an unmasked Steve Rogers with the Winter Soldier uniform, I might pick it up. Great review Robo!

I agree with you about him being a touch too big next to Thor. I’ve been popping Thor’s neck to sit more on top of the peg which gives it a bit more of an accurate look since the fig has a bit of a stubby neck compared to Hemsworth lol.

I agree on points you made about the articulation, a little disappointing. One thing I will never understand is time after time, these companies must know there are certain mandatory checkboxes to tick especially in regards to articulation when designing a figure. To me, ankle pivot is one of them. this feature is tested in all reviews since the dawn of time, maybe you can explain? :), Great review as always

It was near perfect if it wasn't for the ankles and the arms (which don't bother me quite as much). Not sure why they didn't just do their typical ball hinge for the ankles. But for me this is the definitive IW cap figure, so I'm excited for endgame version but I don't have hopes they'll fix the ankles lol

This is the best infinity war captain america figure you can get. The head looks so accurate and the articulation is great. Marvel legends has tried with their infinity saga one but it doesn't come close.

Other than the more accurate colors, I think the infinity saga marvel legends version is the best. The two face sculpts are pretty darn accurate

Highly highly recommended pinning that spear tip. Plastic glue probably won't hold long term, but a drill bit and a snippet of paper clip will go miles.

No peg hole is to small
Maybe. The smaller peghole is actually a separate cap inside the head. My MAFEX comic Wolverine had a cap that was loose and comes out and it then fits perfectly on a Legends ball joint.

Ha, it looks spectacular to me, the straps around shoulders being separate piece add dimensionality, and thats great, however the function has been compromised way too much. And dont get me started on the ankles, thats just step too far, as far as design oversight goes. Stable feet with proper range are the key to an action figure, arent they?

This is tough, but I think the SHF looks more like a miniature person whereas the Mafex looks like a toy

Just noticed recently that their site has マフェックス (MAFEKKUSU) on the figures which lead me to believe that it's meant to be read as MAH-FECKS or something like that. Just a curious detail I wanted to share since I'm Mexican and spanish and japanese are kinda similar in the sense we don't usually have special ways to pronounce certain words.

I think I could’ve bought an official Mafex IW Black Panther at FYE for $25. My mom bought me a PS4 so I said she bought me too much (bc she offered) and this was a couple years before I bought SHF mcu figs. I’m disappointed. The only Mafex mcu figs I’d buy are IW Cap & IW BP *and IW & ED Thor for Mafex*

I learnt that they are called greaves from RPG games on PS3 where you upgrade your armour. Never would have known otherwise.
