The best first date over Grindr is a coffee in a coffee shop of some sort. No pawing over someone in a cinema, no rides home in one car, or anything like that. For one thing, when you don't know someone a date can turn into a frightening experience where one guy ends up going home with the other with tragic consequences. So, on that first date do both of you a favour and make sure you meet in a public place and have a guaranteed means of "escape" afterward. Sorry to hear of this experience of yours. I hope you're OK.
have you ever used grindr? usually the first thing a guy sends you is his explicit nudes then followed with a description of all the seggsual stuff he wants you to do to him . ... none of these guys could even hold a conversation for longer than 2 minutes . you cannot meet them in coffee places, they would have anxiety attacks from sitting in front of a real person. Grindr has messed these young kids up so bad.

I'd been talking to a guy for a number of weeks on Grindr. Exchanged lots of pics and talked on the phone. I asked him out on a date (YES, to all the negative nancies on here, dates can come from Grindr). The date was planned for just a few days later. I found out his favourite candy and made him a licorice/candy bouquet. When I went to pick him up at his house, the guy that got into my car was not the same person in the pictures =-O
Same voice, same name, but clearly not the same person as in the pics he'd sent. I called him on it, his excuse? "old pics, gained weight". Even if the person I saw in the pictures had eaten a tub of lard daily for 6 months straight he still wouldn't be the guy that got into my little 2 door FIAT. I was so shocked that someone would do that, that we went for a pint, I faked a text from my roommate and got the eff out as fast as I could.

I just want to hug you. I'm so sorry you experienced this. I have to say, though, i feel like maybe if you met this guy from OKCupid, this guy wouldn't have been this way. Not that it excuses it in any way... but because it was GRINDR, I almost feel like it should be a little expected. I know some people use Grindr to connect, but it really is a hook up app. Overwhelmingly, the men on Grindr are looking for sex. I think the guy felt a little "played" because you met on a "hook-up" site and you didn't want to hook up. It's like going to Disneyland with a front of the line pass, that you paid lots of money for, and then refusing to go on any rides. It was probably really frustrating for the guy. I think that OKCupid or MeetUp is probably a better venue for what you are looking for sweetie. You seem to have a lot of class and morals and it think it's commendable.

After watching your video, and hearing several stories similar to yours, I feel that these kinds of dates are unfortunately more common than they seem, (even outside of L.A.). I have even had experiences similar to yours in my community. Even with heterosexual dates this happens all too often. I am glad that you are speaking openly about it because it encourages people, and your audience members (like me :)) to learn how to confront the situation immediately and share boundaries right away with people (hopefully...). I was just speaking with my mom yesterday about how I'd like to start a relationship of some sort, though not through these apps--due to the soliciting of sex as if I am just a toy. Maybe we (or just I) am taking the idea of dates, relationships, and sex too seriously; is it possible American culture has cultivated my mind to think sex is taboo? I'd really like to talk about this! Thanks for the video, I think these things need to be discussed more often including anecdotes for how to achieve what we actually want and to not keep getting stuck in the same "Grindr situations".

If you have to wait for things to agree on and throw out a list before you can find something, you stayed too long.
I think it's important to point out that this is a series of communication issues and miscues and has nothing to do with the LGBT community and/or how sexual people are or aren't.
Going fast is okay, with consent. LGBT people can have as much sex or as little as they want and neither of them speak to morality or appropriateness. People are all built differently and that's okay.
Now the fact that you clearly communicated discomfort with the sexual advances and inquiries and were not respected is unacceptable.
And I think I understood your last little bit (insert my projections and assumptions) about not feeling community in the LGBT space as someone who prefers slower paced relationships. I think it's crucial though to not accidentally shame others in the community who pursue their sex life differently.
I love your videos and I don't say any of this out of disgust or disappointment. I use to do the exact same thing because I felt different but then I realized that I was inadvertently putting down different lifestyles within the community because I personally felt ostracized, when really the problem was that I had not found the people I needed in my life.

Some parts were really relatable.
Before I came out, I had my first "straight" date and I was like 'ok how is this going to go?' And I was experimenting a little, testing the waters and I realised that she was really touchy(not sexually) and getting into my bubble. After a month of dating she came up to me and said"HAPPY FIRST MONTH" and gave a plush panda 🐼 which was sweet but she was a little to much.
