Top 10 Premier League Strikers of the 2000s

- Broadly regarded as the world’s most competitive football league in 2022, the English topflight wasn’t always held in this high regard universally. Triggered by United’s ‘99 European treble, this started to change and into the 2000s, England took a step-up in the world-rankings. Boosted by the growing foreign presence, both on the pitch, as well as the side-line, the strength of the teams, made the competition among the top 4 exhilarating and thus viewership increased, becoming more globalised. The noughties belong to the BPL and though the 90s featured a far greater number British forwards, we saw a more interesting class in the following decade so here’s my list ranking the top 10 strikers from the 2000s-era of the Premier League...

Great comment!
It's the 11/01/2023. They're currently at 25k.
😂😂
We will all be back here
The game is still full of quality players but it feels like the amount of genuine world class players have dropped, in the 90s and 2000s era you could go on and on naming them, in this era you ahve to think harder, the term "world class" gets thrown around very loosely, but I mean genuine world class players
Very correct on this!
No, today's game is at its worst in the amount of quality players.
Definitely 10 in this video.
I think the World football bodies have substituted speed for quality and skill(using a very light Ball),and created a game which totally favors the attacking player, making Defensive skill and ability(which if we go back to the likes of Bobby Moore,Franze Beckenbaur,Franco Barasi,Paul McGrath, Roberto Carlos,Paulo Maldini,Tony Adams, and of course I could add so many more to the list) obsolete!..
I get the impression they would love to see matches with Tennis match scores showing ,10-8,7-6- or 6-6 draws and successfully convince a certain generation that this so called 'Modern game' is better!...
And this may surprise some, but I think it's fraudulent BS!.
.But as for this Docu,it was well researched and produced!
Absolutely correct but....... Luiz SOARES deserves a mention too
I've discovered this channel from the gullit video and with that much quality content it's easy to predict that it won't take long for the channel to explode
Same here!
Me to
Henry was truly something else!
Been watching your videos from last 10 days, gotta say it's the best channel for documentaries regarding football. Keep up the good work
Much appreciated!
Underrated Channel yall keep up the good work, love the documentaries❤️⚽️
Much appreciated!
Someone like Robin Van Persie should be in here ahead of Bergkamp mainly because Bergkamp wasn't really a Striker, should definitely be in here before the likes of Anelka & Torres as good as Torres was at Liverpool was he still did have a Chelsea Career
love your content mate plz post more often
Love the videos man
Thierry Henry made millions Arsenal fans in Ethiopia. Legend!
Facts I’m Ethiopian but I’m a United fan I love Henry tho
Can’t argue with the 10 selected and especially the top 3 mentioned, golden era in a way for the premier league and certainly a lot of nostalgia for myself. Think only thing I would have a tad different is the honourable mentions with a few more included (only issue then is where do you stop) but my personal ones on top of this would be; Berbatov, Crouch, Saha, Yakubu, Beattie, Adebayor and Tevez, Tevez and Berba the obvious two standouts that could argue push the list the closest even with Tevez not playing as an out and out striker. Growing up Robbie Keane was my personal absolute favourite (might have gathered I am a spurs fan by this point) but it’s only a shame he didn’t have more accolades to his name to boost him up but he was a brilliant striker as it is and will always be one of, if not my most, favourite players ever honestly. Lastly just a little mention for Santa Cruz, one truly standout season for Blackburn in the 07/08 season, I absolutely loved him and was a bit gutted it never really worked out at City for him but that team was a fun one to watch with the likes of; Friedel, Samba and Nelsen, Bentley, Pedersen, Tugay and Benni McCarthy.
I like your flavour.
Man Henry was something
He should have won ballon d’or
@@d.tim1989should've won it twice
@@simplyNuzi The trophy is blatantly racist because nobody who plays in England stands a chance. Even though premiership teams dominated Europe the last 10years
@d.tim1989 a certain leo and rono dominated all of Europe for the past 15 years so, it does make sense as to why there wasn't any PL balon dor winners this era
Edit: (just remembered that ronaldo won the balon dor while playing in the Prem)
@TheStar17DMC So Liverpool, Chelsea, ManUtd, Bayern Munich and Milan didn’t win the champions league in those years?
Your comment makes you look stupid, you should probably delete it.
Shearer even in decline should be Top 3. He is the GREATEST striker the Premier League has EVER seen
The Guti video brought me here, and I've seen the Adriano one too, now this. Incredible channel
This channel is really fantastic.
Thanks🙏
Great video. Maybe Adebayor or Berbatov could have been mentioned. As for Rooney he is an underrated legend for sure and I don't think he was overshadowed by Ronaldo as you mentioned at least not in their whole time together. From 2004 to 2006 at least Rooney was better with bigger performances and a bigger name. During 06-07 up until 09 though of course he took a step back to Ronaldo and played a more complementary role. It would be fun and also more intriguing if you made a video about the top 10 strikers of the PL era.
True, what's interesting was that after Ronaldo left he had arguably his best ever season during 09/10 he was just unplayable in that season.
@@christiankabano8502 He was insane from 2009 to 2012. Such a legend.
For me it is not so interesting as predictable for attacking players to play more freely after Ronaldo's departure.
Ronaldo started off in the right mid field although he spend just as much time playmaking in the midfield area as he did in the box
Technically not an attacker
Thierry Henry is the Premier League GOAT
Fernando torres❤
Nice video thanks for sharing
Henry 🙏🏿
Im Suprised that Van Persie didnt get a mention
If your going souly of the 2000's he shouldn't be mentioned,he was Good but only for a short time
Van Persie is blooming after 2010. He's great but not at 2000's
He was a winger then.
@@masters.1000 a winger😂😂😂😂
@@hypello9534 Definitely, before 2009.
It does not matter which club, I love everything about the Premier League.
Great Vid, Adebayor was also great, but as for Henry he will always be tge best player Arsenal have ever had
This channel is so good discovered you from the when did messi hit his prime this is gonna blow up soon
Your videos are so great and you know how to count a story. I hope your channel get so much bigger, you deserve it! Cheers from Brazil.
Your Videos Have Been Exceptional And When Is Your Third Video Of The AC Milan Series, And Can You Make A Video About Barcelona In The Late 1990s Post Cruyff Era Until The Appointment Of Rjkaard
Great list 👌
Broo gass video 🐐
Great video mate. Personally I think Van Persie and Berbatov could squeeze in ahead of Hasselbaink and Anelka but it's debatable
Van persie's peak came post 2010
Great video , almost bang on, just The Yak missing in honorable mentions , me personally would have him in top ten but cant argue with this 10
If Owen didn’t get injuries he was basically Mbappé
That guy was really good, sort of like the English version of the Brazilian Ronaldo
Owen was fantastic but lets not get carried away....
More of an English Romario
@@psulionz87 literally better than Mbappe at 21 wtf are you on about 😂
@@psulionz87 better than mbappe at the same age without injuries lol. Mbappe is not that great to be honest. I prefer players like Vini jr
Brilliant video. Well done for the viduka and Defoe honorable mentions. Top stuff as always sir.
Wayne Rooney was always the striker that surprised me what a player
Love your top, especially as an arsenal fan🫶🫶😂
In 2004 I looked like Henry; and at my workplace people called me Henry . Then some of my relatives also mentioned. Other than few similarities and was also into shaving in 2000s. First, I used to tell people to call me by my name, but later I didn't mind as I found out Henry was not only a great player but also a good guy.
??
Do one on the best attacking midfielders from the 2000s
Wayne Rooney was such an underrated player i swear
Not really underrated. An absolute star!
i just realize in the drogba part that u used avatar score. dope vid!
Simply beautiful
Thank you! 😊
Marcus Stewart deserve honorable mention, I know he lasted short but still he deserves.
The peak of the game. It's so depressing watching what we have now as "footballers".
Surez not being here is a war crime he managed to get a golden boot in a messi ronaldo era in the prem
a top striker in the 2010s era
I miss this era, there was so much freedom, so much art, now everything looks the same, all the goals are the same. There is no art, only predetermined plays, no creativity
You have guardiola and klopp to blame for this
Do defenders and Midfielders next
Shearer , henry , rooney , drogba , van persie , bergkamp , van nistelrooy , andy cole all world class strikers back in the day
Yep but I'll put Cole and Shearer in the 90s
Not including Nicklas Bendtner here is criminal
a lifetime sentence
Wayne Rooney at his prime was mind looking 😅
Henry wins this by far really
watched some of your videos about the dutch players - gullit , bergkamp , and after watching does awesome video`s I would simply love if you would do a video on Michael Laudrup (denmark) - He was simply the most brilliant playmaker ever to set foot on the earth or at least close to :)
Zidane iniesta Messi all better I think great player though
@@cjj9127 funny you should say iniesta , watch the link :) Messi I wouldnt say is a midfielder , but its ofcourse a matter of opinion and we cant allways agree about everything in life , would be a boring life then :) ruclips.net/video/5s4wlmfGwJ4/видео.html
Oooh Rooney,what a player!!
My best Manchester United player ever
All are top, but Jimmy is legend.
Louis Saha & Eidur gudjohnsen
Suarez, Firmino, Aguero, Berbatov, Tevez, Van Persie,
If Jermaine Defoe deserves an honorable mention, then what does Dimitar Berbatov deserve? I would have included him in the top 10 instead of Shearer (one of my all time favourites but who indeed rather glittered in the 90s😊). The rest of the top 10 I fully agree with you!
In what world is berbatov better than shearer?
@@WillCowlin not saying he's better, I kinda expected Shearer in the list, just that he is more from the 90s than 2000s (the fact that he retired from international football in 2000 made me hold him back in the last century 😊)
@@Bayard2024 oh I completely missed the "2000s" part of the title
@@WillCowlin haha I made the same mistake while making my own top 10 before watching the video, started including Ian Wright and Dwight Yorke and then went "whoops" 😄
I think it's down to numbers. Love Berbatov, but I don't know if the numbers exceed Shearer.
The fact that Sergio Aguero is not on this list is criminal
Aguero was a top striker in the 2010s era
Where did you find the song for the first portion of the video ?
Berbartov needs to be in the honourable mentions
Could you maybe rank a top20 of European clubs ever someday .?
I always have this obsession of which makes the cut. Teams like Porto, Dortmund, Benfica, Ajax, Roma, Napoli, Marseille, Tottenham, PSV, all make a second tier below the classic bigs and I wonder hoe how fans actually rank them considering historical achievements and everything...
Nice idea! Thanks
Ajax is a classic big with 4 CL.
@@waso778 True .Thats why I wish Ajax could get back on that level of competing for the UCL once in a while by producing new talents. However I am worried, as I watch the UCL being dominated by certain teams not leaving room for traditional clubs. I mean looking forward one could bet that Tottenham and Man City would get one trophy long before Ajax. Its a financial issue
Tottenham doesn't come close to a top European club ever. The last couple years have been among their best and they still haven't won anything. Their historical achievements don't really exist
@@epicmarschmallow5049The 1984 UEFA Cup victory was the last time you could really be impressed by Tottenham.
Rooney number 8 was a different breed of player
Defoe above Owen and Shearer? wow 👏
In my opinion it should be Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney, Fernando Torres, Michael Owen, Tevez, Adebayor and probably Robbie Keane or Defoe or Crouch. Many strikers graced that period though.
Cristiano wasn't a striker in England.
Make a video on Drogba pls, a giant of big games and finals
Good list although i thought shearer and Drogba would be higher upp
no van persie, vardy or defoe?
Can someone help me with details around the starting music please?
Drogba was always my favorite
Not a bad list. Aguero and Luis Suarez should have made it though. While Hasselbank and Viduka were great in there era, they were never as good as Kun or Hannibal.
this list is of early 2000s.
Man , 2000-2009, they wasn't even in pl
@@pauladrianradulescu7762 Yeah, for some reason i misread and thought it was from 2000 and up to now. Just to save some face; Hasselbaink really was at his best for Leeds in the 90s ;)
Is there any docu that has good screen quality from the 2000s? It s All in 240p...
2017- present Muhammad Salah
What about ronaldo? The Portuguese
I would've never put Torres in front of Van Nistelrooy. But it's your top, not mine. Cheers!
I'll put Bergkamp ahead of Drogba, but I get it.
0:18 it wasn't really until the Arsene Wenger vs Sir Alex Ferguson rivalry did the Premier League become one of the most competitive league. Because in the European scene it was almost always dominated by the Spanish and Italian teams since the late 80s (when English teams were banned because of the Heysel disaster of 85) until the mid 2000s. Then from 2005 you all of a sudden Liverpool in the final in 05 and 07, then Manchester United in the final in 08, 09 and 11, Chelsea in 08 and 12 and Arsenal in 06.
Alan Shearer
do 10s
So, Yakubu and Berbatov dont even get a mention??
I'd have have Heskey over Anelka also Shearer above Torres and Bergkamp and I'm a Gunner. Van Nistelroud is underrated but he can't lace Drogbas boots. Rooney can take a hike absolutely crP player I'd put him 7th
Haaland enters the chat
🤣🤣🤣
Love shearer however his 90s not. 00’s … everything else’s on the video is for a debate on top 10
Didiar Drawkba
Thiyeri Awnri
Shearer is way too low on this list! But I'll accept it since he retired in the mid 2000s :p
2017
Sorry, can't continue if Shearer is that low.
Owens is better than Anelka ????? Didn’t know that one but thanks
Allan shearer should have been in the top 3
Suarez should have been in the list .
a top striker in the 2010s era
Alan Shiarar
Also forgot saurez. No way Torres should be ahead of Suarez.
Everything is good but you forget Ronaldo and vanpersi
Ronaldo was a winger during his time at Manchester United
No Ian Wright, Andy Cole, Aguero. Not even in the H mentions .....
It is about the decade 2000-2010
Michael owen
Van Persie I miss
Bro literally forget the last pl balloon dor winner
Oh sorry, back then Ronaldo played as a midfielder.
What about aguero
2010s
2010s
Wrong order! 10 anelka 9 drogba 8 les Ferdinand, 7 yorke 6 fowler 5 nistleroy 4 Andy Cole 3 shearer 2 Rooney 1 Henry. In that order. (Owen or anelka for number 10) - Keane, owen, bergkamp almost but no.
Best strikers In world football:

9 zlatan
8 Henry
7 totti
6 lewonsdki
5 David Villa
4 del piero

Ronaldinho wasn’t a striker so… but this lot defo maybe a couple more
what about Van Basten or Batistuta?
Suarez?
Why do you keep saying Britain when you mean England?
And suiiiii
