Best vehicle I've ever owned. I bought a 2007 put over 200,000 abusive miles on it. Took it around the country across crazy terrain smashing up the body panels and up quad trails to the top of some of the Rockies peaks. All stock and no troubles! It never let me down. I bought another 2014 FJ a year ago and gave the 07 to my nephew. He just stopped by with it today and the damn thing runs perfect still. As far as driving and visibility it's like most cars, you get used to it and it's no bother at all. The truck is an awesome long distance highway drive for an suv. The truck handles incredibly well it's just a matter of trusting the dynamics of the vehicle. As far as mirrors it's like any truck just make sure to adjust them to face a bit more outward and after a short while it'll be second nature using them and you get a great coverage. Has one of the highest crash test rating and it has held the highest ranking for resale value out of any car made by a large margin for years.
I got mine barely a month and got bogged in a river. Water seeped into the cabin and up to the seats. I just let it dry and it ran perfectly like nothing happened. I am totally impressed with the FJ.
Christopher29m I still have my 2007 220,000 and still doing strong! Your description is right on the money. So upset they've discontinued it. Best cars on the market!
@@tipea3770 I just purchased a 2007 Special Edition TRD Black On Black with 220,000 miles and this vehicle is simply amazing and I have owned a ton of vehicles.
Bret Martin Congratulations Bret! Your model sounds wicked!! You’re gonna fall more in love with it as time goes on. My vehicle has nearly 300,000 miles and still going strong. There isn’t another car out there that I want. For me, nothing else compares. I wish they would start remaking them again, so I can upgrade - sort of waiting for that. Never giving mines up.
I bought mine with 175k on the dash and towed a 22-foot RV with it across the country in 3 days. He was a champ. By the time I got to the west coast, the maintenance light came on. I got an oil change and that was that. Zero trouble on the road! I love this thing! ☺️
Although I don't have a 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser Trail Teams Ultimate Edition I do have a 2007 FJ with all the options for that model year. I've owned it since 06/06 and have had no problems with it in the 8 years I've had it! I'm a happy camper and I still love the rugged looks.
I bought an 07 years ago, traded it, kicked myself for doing it. Now I have another one. I'm keeping this one. Best vehicle I've ever owned. The dash is big and flat enough to put a pizza on it. How about them apples!
This guy gave the FJ a somewhat Negative positive review. He says that the FJ is "impractical", "its hard to see out of" and "it turns like a battleship"? My 2014 FJ Cruiser is getting me 20.34 mpg on average 340 miles per tankful. And we go shopping and drive me to and from the golf course so its extremely practical for me. If you are a person unfamiliar with side mirrors I can understand why you'd feel blind spots in an FJ Cruiser. And I love leaning into the curves without brakes to get that exhilarated feeling as we whip around the turns. Driving like a boat is quite the exaggeration for enjoying the feel of the ride. And to beat it all the FJ is a fantastic daily driver being both comfortable and reliable and having the best world for their users.
Fj is one of my favorite suv's... ever, the visibility is like any car you drive daily, you get used to it. The turning is great unlike you showed in the video. Even on normal roads I love how smooth it rides!! It an amazing suv for anything and everything you want highly recommend people to purchase one.
You're RIGHT! An FJ Cruiser is ALL OVER Charisma! You're WRONG! Turning radius is Great & driving on the road is doubly GREAT! Also I Love accelerating through the turns. IT DOES NOT DRIVE LIKE A BOAT! Are you kidding me? Who Paid you to say that? JEEP? Driving on the roads is my favorite thing. It is REALLY SMOOTH, handles WELL and it TAKES on Pot Holes like a Champ! I can't take my hands off my FJ! I love the way it drives, I love the way it handles and my stock 11 speaker w/Subwoofer Bluetooth Stereo is LOUD & Clear! Bluetooth phone setup is also a dream. Yeah Toyota may have discontinued making the FJ in 2014 but I OWN one. (Army Green 2014, YES!) 'fist pump'.
I tested My Crawl control in deep sand I stopped still in and She just crawled right out by itself !! Best over all vehicle I've had and I've had many many.
I purchased a BMW Z4 convertible for driving pleasure, but I prefer cruising around in the FJ. You indicate that this vehicle is strictly an off-roader, but I beg to differ. It's the ultimate all purpose vehicle which combines styling, 4x4 performance, street cruising comfort, wow factor, and all around driving fun. You took away any semblance of credibility with the exaggerated turning radius video. You complain that the dash board is plastic; what car today is made of other materials? It comes with Toyota quality and dependability; I've never had any mechanical issues.Love love love my FJ!!
I bought one of the first 2007 FJC's on the lot in 06, fully loaded. 6 speed full time drive train, TRD wheels, 16"s not the 17's, 32"BFG ATko's, not the original all season (17's and all seasons, RELLY!), and TRD s.s. cat back exhaust. It was fast, if it was just a little wet I could eat any 2wd off the line and for something so off road capable the handling was amazing! I loved the full time. If I had to shift the transfer case and lock the center diff, all the pavement based AWD/4WDs (all seasons 17's/18's & handle like cars) had already fallen behind part way up a hill in the mud or snow, If I needed more the FJC still had lo range 2.56:1, a-trac and a rear locker. The Rubicon has an off road edge, 4:1 t-case, f&r solid axles, lockers and 4.10:1 gears. On the road my FJC had a big edge, more power, independent front suspension, 3.90:1 gears and full time 4wd, no KJ cold touch it. I put over 60k on it in just over 3 years and not one problem. That's because like the FJ40 the FJC is still built by Toyota and Toyota= reliability. Jeep is owned by Chrysler LLC. and although they have come a long way they are not on par with Toyota's reliability and resale value. I have owned 6 Toyotas 86 2wd pickup 100k+, 93 2wd 4cyl pickup with a Lock Right locker 100k+, 98 4wd TRD off road SR5 6cyl pickup 150k+, 07 FJC 60k+, 09 4wd SR5 4cyl 30k+ (head on 70 mph), I now have a 2010 Taco 4wd TRD off road SR5 4dr 60k and I love it ! But I wish I still had my FJC too, it was a lot of fun:)!
He's exaggerating the faults. 😂 I have a 2011 FJ Cruiser and I have to make a U turn every time I go to the shop. Samson (my FJ) makes the turn in one shot. There is some body roll for sharp turns, but I've taken Samson up and down mountain roads several times and he's done just fine at 60 MPH. As far as visibility, everyone complains about those pillars and I don't see why. I can see just fine. The mirrors work well, even when I'm using Samson to tow my 22-foot RV which is much wider than he is. Men always come up to me to ask me how in the hell I tow with an FJ. He tows just fine on premium gas and I keep my weight under 4k (his limit is 5k). Try to tow on regular and he'll tell me where I can shove the 89. He drives fine on 89 when not towing, though. I haven't done any serious off-roading with him, but he rolls through mud, dirt and gravel like it's another day at the park. Aside from how thirsty he is, he's also a great daily driver.
i completely dissagree with the visibility and turning radius! the visibility is DIFFERENT but the blind spots arn't a problem if you can shoulder check, also i can turn my fj around on a simple 2 way street with curbs if i'm as far right as possible without any reversing or a very small 3 point turn, no worse than any car i've had
Ehh, i have a 2013 TTSE and the visibility is piss poor. But once you understand it you can easily look past it, but for the general public it would be very scary to deal with. U-turns arent bad unless you are 4wd, then you will be looking at multiple point turns. I absolutely LOVE my FJ through all of its minor faults, just as the video review states.
I got my Trails Team Heritage Blue LTD Ed. in 2014 just in the nick of time. Only thing I added was a Class lll trailer hitch (added by the dealer as it was then under warranty). No regrets whatsoever.
I love the 3 wipers too, check Doug DeMuro's video and you'll see that the back window has a really stubby and tiny rear wiper, no joke, watch the video and see what I'm talking about!
I have 2007 FJ and totally disagree with what you said about the turning radius. It turns a dime and handles curves on the road very well. Get your fax’s together before posting reviews about something.
13 months on city streets and highways of Pittsburgh in my 14’ FJ and any concerns of visibility are easily handled with having your mirrors in the right place. My only gripe was the reverse lights, easy fix.
After more then 3 Years driving My 2014 I'm still ALL SMILES ! The the talk about the turning radius is totally Bogus. We have U - Turn blvd all over My town and I can swing one easier and faster then almost anything I see. Drive it a few weeks and turn Your lazy head over Your shoulder and the blind spots are no more. LOVE the "Cabin " feeling inside behind the wheel. Deep sand on our beaches on the Gulf are No problem at all with My Auto trans.
My friends and I are reaching that age where we can buy a vehicle just for fun and their set on jeeps and 4runners. When they ask me, I always say I want an FJ!
I'm not a huge fan of Toyotas in general, but I've loved and never had a problem driving the FJ Cruiser... I do a lot of back country skiing and it does really well when I go off road on the mountain
Bought mine last week, damn thing is a tank! the MPG kinda of sucks, but the off road capability is wonderful, climbed in and out of swamps and deep ruts with ease.
I really want to buy one , the lowest mile one I’ve found has around 80k miles and the dealer is asking 35k . I will keep my eyes out Until I see a trail edition for sale .
The guy doing this video is nuts ! I have an 2014 FJ and the turn radios is fantastic. Drive it a few times and all the " blind " spots go away. You can't drive something a few blocks and make Stupid statements like this guy.
Very good and encouraging video for prospective buyers of this incredible machine that I'm so obsessed to own. I would love to drive this car to any surface.
I have owned and driven everything from sports cars to trucks. This baby is My all time favorite. I would buy it agin 5 times over if only I could live that long. It goes anywhere you want !
DYNABIKE1 I love mine too. Easy to work on and with locker and atrac can get you alot of places other stock vehicles cannot. With 265s its grateful for hwy driving as well.
Drive out to the Outdoor towns in Colorado and every 10th vehicle is an FJ. This bias nut case has NO CLUE about the FJ Cruiser. If it's so bad why have the prices Skyrocketed every month ??
I HAVE ONE FJ CRUSER AND MY DAUGHTER H AVE ONE TOO MY 2010 MY DAUGHTER 2011 AND THAY LOOK ALWAYS LIKE NEW THAY ARE THE BEST OH YES..WEND I CAME HEAR I DON'T SEE SO MANY FJCRUSER I LOVE IT.AND YOU KNOW I SEEING MENY OH YES YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I PAY 65,000 IN PUERTO RICO. OH YES.LOT OF MONEY, BUT I LOVE IT.
Visibility is not bad at all. I have had no complaints with visibility in mine. As for the turn radius, this guy couldn't be more wrong. I do complete U-turns in places I never thought possible. Turn radius is actually pretty good. It is very, very comfortable on-road driving as well as highway driving. Comfort puts the jeep wrangler to shame. Not to mention the Toyota reliability. This guy obviously doesn't have much experience driving the FJ.
Would it just be better to buy a regular used FJ, then customize it with all of the amenities and parts that you want instead of paying 40 grand for this?
THEN THEN THEN it blew me away when you can drive standard !!!!! omg i gotta get ittttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO toyota!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I got a FJ after my Toyota Tacoma was stolen I loved it so much I got a second one I live in the mountains of BC Canada and have a hot shot delivery company and need tuff sick of all the shit out there on the market on top of these I run to toyota rav4 v6 2012 these 4 Toyotas are the best investment I could have ever made I am sooooooooo sad that toyota took the FJ away but feel confident that these will run like my Toyota Tacoma 500 thousand km plus and still be worth money let's say this if you are sick of out rageous depreciation go get one of these amazing trucks and start having fun and saving money
This really isn't a good review at all. I have a car with worse visibility, has a much better turning radius than any dodge or ford I've driven, can handle turns on back country rough roads over 80kms per hour comfortably as well. As a daily driver it is actually very practical even if not used off road much. I have an 07 and the wife drives it as much as possible :). This IS a true SUV for sure ! I personally appreciate the lack of extra interior gadgets and electronic crap.
Lousy and inaccurate review. "Turns like a battleship" ???? -B.S. it turn like a sports car with zero sway, yet the ride is smooth and not stiff. Best built auto ever built. Incredible handling around corners. Visibility is NOT a problem. My FJ (2010) is 8 years old, but rides and looks like a brand new vehicle; no exaggeration. This is a piece of equipment not merely a suv.
Great Job on the review. You just reminded me to not give in to the wife's request to get an Explorer, i must come up with a new plan of attack and this video will be part of it.
The mirrors are small? They're the size of dinner plates! I'm not sure I agree with your assessment of its road manners... I can punt mine pretty well through the twisties (for a proper off-road vehicle that is - its a relative thing). Battleship it is not. Visibility... yeah, you're right - the A-pillars + the dinner plate mirrors are pretty obstructive, especially when you need to look right (or left in your case). And thank god for the rear camera - it would be a nightmare without it. But in traffic, its height is marvellous, and with the stubby nose it's pretty easy to judge where everything is when you're in a tight spot. For a 4WD that's straight off the showroom floor, it's pretty hard to beat. I love its competence and its simplicity, as well as its looks. It has a cult following and in Australia, and these things are no longer depreciating.
a hybrid would be nice, either diesel or gas... can't wait for the next gen (hopefully there is one). would be so cool to get such a package from toyota. a solid and fuel efficient proper 4x4.
There's a good reason Toyota stopped production on this thing. I just wish they would make it a bit more road friendly. I mean who in the world just off-roads 24/7?? Would it kill them to make it more road-friendly for people who just like capable vehicles as their daily driver?
Just wondering do you own an FJ? I have an 07 and find that it works well on and off road. Is it like a Lexus on the road? No, but I have owned lots of Lexus, porsche, mercedes and other "luxury" brands and to date this is my favorite vehicle I have ever owned. It is fun to drive, and very capable. I also love the look of it and everything about it. Some complain about blind spots but they have never bothered me because I have driven box trucks, work vans, etc that have no visibility. I use blind spot mirrors and common sense and never had a problem or felt dangerous. All that said it is one of the top resell value cars ever produced. I plan on keeping this forever and pass it on to my son one day (he is currently 8). If it goes up in value like the originals do then it is also an investment.
Have You ever driven one on " the road " ?? I took mine on a 4,000 mile road trip last Year and it was excellent on the HYW. Rode in the Rockies on and off road. Going back for more this Year in Utah. It will be another 4,000 + mile trip. Can't wait.
Guns - - You are sooo right. Who are these , not good on the road people ????? Mine on a Long Hyw trip rides Super. My Jeep Grand Cherokee was not better then the FJ.
Well like Tundra's and Tacoma's who and the hell drive there pickups 24/7 with full loads in the bed of the truck, its just use as needed , just like offloading when needed or if you feel a little adventurous, like the others say my FJ just floats down the paved roads, its a very smooth ride for any vehicle on frame body style.
So it was 1/4 the price higher because of Trail Team and all they did was a little lift and shocks? Would it not been much cheaper to go after market? Also the color. But dam you can Wrap it at that point.
1st - this same FJ in decent condition in 2018 is selling for $1000 more than original sticker. 2nd - the FJ will do every road shown above in 2WD. Only a few times n Moab have I needed 4WD.
FJ's are the best of the best, bro you'r wrong about turning, the vehicle is so short that you can turn in a pencil, it's an smooth ride, it has a lot of visibility. sorry to disappoint you.
I love how certain cars give off such a cool charm! Just like my 1993 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer 5.8 4in lift 35's! It's my baby! Oh and does anyone know where he is offroading at?
He mentions easy clean up. Wouldn't leather seats be easier to clean? Once you get those cloth seats dirty its really hard to bring them back to the original shape.
There is a lil fragment of weed on the dash. BTW. It is a great handling SUV, solid at 70km\hr in off ramp curves and great entering highways. Also has a smaller turning radius and footprint than a JEEP.
Question for the reviewer: Do you own one? If yes, I would like to ask if it still is awesome after months of being with it, and would you recommend it over a, let's say, Jeep Renegade?
I've had mine for over two years. Love it. No problems with it that I couldn't fix myself for minimal cost. Very reliable and very good in bad weather and rough terrain. I highly recommend them. But like he said it is like driving a boat or an APC, it's not for everyone.
I have one and it's a little over a year now. It's one robust vehicle. I did not treat it like a baby. Sank it a river the shifter is already in the water, went over gravel roads on high-speeds, descent into a pool of mud, dirt, lahar, drove along cliffs, it's my adventure vehicle and it runs like nothing happened. Oh yeah, mine's all-stock with those crappy tires that came with it out of the showroom floor.
I like Your review but Know from My ownership how Wrong You were about turning radius. I can make a U-Turn better then any SUV I have driven or watched turn around. I go on thousands of mile road trips and on the HWY it's also a dream ride. Visibility lacking goes away after a short time driving it. Turn Your head and Look it's that simple.
Hah.....I like Jeeps bc of the accessories. But just like the iPhone, everyone has one. What I love about my FJ, practically every thing you can ask for in off-roading and it doesn't depreciate. Plus it looks good next to my Supra. :)
Damiendlt reliability is another big one for Toyota FJ cruisers there's still many 1960-70s FJ s running good. The Landcruiser also has a legendary reliability.

This guy doesn't even know how to do a 3 point turn
This guy is a Clown. Shouldn't even be driving a awesome FJ. Owners know how far off this nut is.
If you’re not in an alley between two buildings....thats what the ground clearance is for, 0 fucks given to turn, run over that shit lol
This is the Best looking offroader on sale. Looks really cool and is a beast offroad
I have a 2013 with 70K miles. I will probably own it when till I die. Best vehicle ever👍😎
me 2.. this is the last 4 wheel drive. for me.
Toyota makes some really good cars, but the FJ is beyond the best I've ever seen!
Very good and encouraging video for prospective buyers of this incredible machine that I'm so obsessed to own. I would love to drive this car to any surface.
Juan Tampocao got mine last year great ride!
With 265s its grateful for hwy driving as well.
i had one and its build like tank .. great review
Drive out to the Outdoor towns in Colorado and every 10th vehicle is an FJ. This bias nut case has NO CLUE about the FJ Cruiser. If it's so bad why have the prices Skyrocketed every month ??
I purchased a 07 fj cruiser. 6 months ago Paid $15000 dollars. For it . Well worth it .
Just picked up a 2010 last week. Love it!
Turn Radius is much better than he showed in the video
AMEN!!! Mine turns on a dime!!!
@@momandpopbusinessfunding maybe his tummy was in the way. #just saying
I love mine I smile every time I look at mine.
Yeah, he clearly is not turning the wheel all the way in the video. My Fj turns pretty decently.
sproesser1 well also the ultimate edition has a higher suspension which would affect turning.
Would it just be better to buy a regular used FJ, then customize it with all of the amenities and parts that you want instead of paying 40 grand for this?
Bought a new Trail Team version in '13 and I LOVE it!! Best $30K vehicle ever....
this is one beautiful off road suv.
THEN THEN THEN it blew me away when you can drive standard !!!!! omg i gotta get ittttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO toyota!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I noticed the shift knobs on this particular Ultimate Edition are metal? Are these aftermarket upgrades because this is not standard to my knowledge.
Ur reviews are the shit. You cover so much and keep it entertaining.
Good review very honest . I love my fj ttue!
a recommendation for IS when having to choose for a more cool version of their Landcruiser
Buying one next Month... it will be a good addition to my other vehicles....
Just digging this car. Want to buy one, but as typical toyota truck, used price are out of reach for me.
I'll never part with my cement coloured 2012.... It'll never go off road either....I absolutely love it....
Poor FJ. Never gets to go play. That’s abuse.
Was this shot in Clairville park in Brampton?
My fj turns on a dime! You might need to lift some weights f boy
Overly assisted steering is the worst.
They're still selling this in the Philippines
Mine rides and drives great on the road considering it is an "off road" purpose built SUV.
What is the current value at 2021?
All good. Liked it. Props. Took the time. But a 7 points turn. WTF!!! It aint no limo
So it was 1/4 the price higher because of Trail Team and all they did was a little lift and shocks? Would it not been much cheaper to go after market? Also the color. But dam you can Wrap it at that point.
I see a 4runner review ohhh yes such a great thing... then I see the FJ ohhhh dam I want one!! hard to decide
Your the best reviewer on this account
1st - this same FJ in decent condition in 2018 is selling for $1000 more than original sticker.
2nd - the FJ will do every road shown above in 2WD. Only a few times n Moab have I needed 4WD.
They've been killing that elefant for the last 3 years
FJ's are the best of the best, bro you'r wrong about turning, the vehicle is so short that you can turn in a pencil, it's an smooth ride, it has a lot of visibility. sorry to disappoint you.
I want this car so bad its driving me nuts, I want it over bmw or any other car but cant afford it right now :(, this sucks!!!
I love how certain cars give off such a cool charm! Just like my 1993 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer 5.8 4in lift 35's! It's my baby! Oh and does anyone know where he is offroading at?
It's 100 times better than the Land Rover.
The visibility complainers need to learn the magic of fish eye mirrors
Nice joe dirt look
He mentions easy clean up. Wouldn't leather seats be easier to clean? Once you get those cloth seats dirty its really hard to bring them back to the original shape.
+Volnik Its Ballistic waterproofed cloth and its very easy to clean with a hose
The 2014 FJ TT cost 38k new. I just saw one at the dealer last week that had about 30k and had a few dings on the back door going for 42k,
The prices and value on the FJ's is heading straight Up. My 2014 is now selling for $ 3,000 more then I paid for it 2 1/2 Years ago !!!
I have been eyeballing a 2012 Radiant Red TT at the dealership I bought my 08 from, they want 30k not to bad for a rare FJ
Great review!
There is a lil fragment of weed on the dash. BTW. It is a great handling SUV, solid at 70km\hr in off ramp curves and great entering highways. Also has a smaller turning radius and footprint than a JEEP.
nothing turns better than a tj,yj,cj its crazy
Actually, the turning radius for the FJ is a little over 20 feet...The Jeep is 17-20 feet. A little research goes a long way..
Slave to dope..
You couldn't find a nicer background ?😅😜 All in all nice video 😁
Good review. Thanks.
This knuckle head has no idea! FJ are the best!!
Fjs are the best
is this good for a first car not considering price?
great presentation and great comment on smiles
I've had 3 different Jeeps. This FJ just keeps Me smilin every time I get in it. I'd buy it agin forever.
Diwa Galvez Would buy again and again! After 10 years of owning one with no problems, I do not want any other vehicle! The best!
What if I told you he would later work for tfl, looking at buying one of these great video and great comments
Man they should have put the 3.5 in this made a little adjustments and kept it in the lineup
That is NOT a Ultimate Edition
the Ultimate Edition is USA ONLY
it is a Trail Teams
I like Your review but Know from My ownership how Wrong You were about turning radius. I can make a U-Turn better then any SUV I have driven or watched turn around. I go on thousands of mile road trips and on the HWY it's also a dream ride. Visibility lacking goes away after a short time driving it. Turn Your head and Look it's that simple.
I high centered on snow and to get out i was slamming 1st and reverse. I got a manual BTW. Then after I get off, airbag light pops up. Im confused
Just got my 2014 ultimate edition with 84k in 9/10 shape 40k$
very nice review ! ... :)
Just picked up a 2011 :)
Are fj cruisers will be gone next year or they will produce a new edition?
No new model
I see a lot of girls in these, chicks like them for some reason. I like Jeeps but this design is so unique i really like it.
I noticed these are very popular with middle-aged mothers in my area, my mother being one, really like them as well.
Probably the dumbest thing ive read all day, nay all week.
I have seen a lot of chicks in Wranglers as well. The 2 doors one especially.
3 point turn? You're doing it wrong. Drive over the curb and off the side of the road.... No problems at all.
I'm all about getting dirty sounds right for me
where is this place i want to go!
So is it a 2015 or a 2014 ?
Nice and meaty in your hand lol
