    You could have used raspberry pi wifi to create a hotspot which can be used for same purpose

      If you wanna pay more and have to program it, sure. But for $35 you get a router with a power supply that works as a USB sharing device, I think that's a way better deal. If you feel like you need to hack it you can install open WRT and mess with it that way too.

    What is the maximum speed for file transferring?

      If you are lucky 300mbps (around 30MB a second), its slow but it works. I have one I use for travel. Works well to stream video wirelessly from the drive that's attached.
