All of which he got for free from sponsors. You don't actually think he pays for that stuff, right? Pretty much the only things he legitimately bought that are expensive (aside from the office space, probably) are his RED cameras.
There is actually one real problem with it!!! What Linus has mentioned are just wrong marketing and faulty advertising, but keep on reading and I will tell you. It does lack the Ethernet transformer and it has been replaced with 4 small surface mount capacitors. With this alteration, it will still work as an Ethernet adaptor but it does not comply with the Ethernet standard ( IEEE802.3u) anymore. IEEE802.3u requires 1500V galvanic insulation at each device. And from a high-frequency perspective, those capacitors do not provide any high-frequency insulation at all. This also means that the user breaks all EMC emissions requirements, and for sure on conducted emissions (most likely also on the immunity side also, but maybe also on radiated emissions). Those small surface mount capacitors do have a DC/AC insulation capacity of a maximum of 50V (more likely 16V). This means that if the switch in the other end has an insulation fault in it or if the Ethernet cable between the switch and the computer have an insulation error (partly exposed wire) and that wire is touching live wires. The entire battery operated laptop could be dangerous to touch (live voltage on the outside). To use capacitors instead of Ethernet transformers are a clever way to reduce costs, but that trick can and should NEVER be used to anything that connects to an unknown device, internally in a machine it is just fine. But to an outside device, NEVER. Just one thing more. Due to the stuff above it cannot be CE marked. So it would be illegal to sell it to anybody within a European Union country. And if a normal citizen did direct imported it from DX and used it and something bad did happen, the insurance company could decline to pay up for the bad thing that did just happen... So be aware.

Alibaba is a wholesaler supplier, where the user is expected to message the seller to get more details. The results for a product search is often just one model of a whole line of products that the seller manufactures. It is up to the user to message back to narrow down what model you want. Knowing that, AliExpress feels like Alibaba trying to eBay. Ali sellers are most likely not used to selling single items at a time and the results for a product search could be just one product in the line that a manufactures makes. 4:15 Kitchen plugs are usually on a 20A breaker not a 15A breaker, so the 1500w rule generally doesn't apply. Additionally Kitchens run thicker gauge wires to deal with the increased loads from blenders, Toasters, etc all running at same time, and typically separated on multiple breakers across the plugs avaliable in a Kitchen.

joe nodden . I think his self proclaimed cheapskate title is fairly accurate, he also knows that spending money on big ticket items is either necessary or worthwhile. It's healthier version of being a cheapskate and an interesting dichotomy.
4:20 would just like to point out that based on the plug choices and brand name, that blender is probably intended for EU markets, and in here we have 230 V power, not 120 V. Which makes that 2200 W power figure go just under 10 A, which is a common breaker current limit among with 16 A, with which you would be more than fine. That 1500 W number on the specs might be based on the choice of plug you choose above. So that power might just be limited on 120 V power grids but it might still actually be a 2200 W blender.
Golden rule of these sites for me: Don't order anything electronic. They are a good source for stuff like key caps and headphone ear-cushion replacements.
To be fair Linus that blender says 2200W which is doable at European's 220-240V which they also say it's compatible with. (220V 10A isn't completely unreasonable I think we have 16A breakers in our apt. (don't quote me on that though))
Exactly. Very plausible it can run with 120V or 240V, just runs with less power on lower voltage. And the description does say ">1500W" so 1500W or more. And yes, 16A breakers are normal so we get over 3000W from our outlets :)
@@yassirfirdosirfem2006 16 amp is quite a standard here we have 16 amp everywhere since we also plug dishwashers ovens and stuff like that in same outlets as everything else
@@yassirfirdosirfem2006 Atleast in Finland every outlet in even remotely modern building is 16A. Really old buildings have 10A. Oven might be 10A but that is 400V.
I mean, if you look at the title of the ethernet adapter, it very clearly says USB 2.0 USB 2.0 doesn't get anywhere near 10Gbps, so that should've told you all that you need to know.
You can get a refund if the product isn't what is advertised. The seller knows it's a scam so they usually just give you refund just for asking, they don't want to risk their standing with the site. Recently I ordered some 5mm LEDs but received 3mm LEDs and still got a refund (Aliexpress). You just need to make a good case, usually saying the item is not as described and then showing images of the problem. In this case i would show the network connections screen showing that it it only 100Mbit/s and possibly an image of the device its self showing that it is only Fast Ethernet.
Alie expres is safe u can always get refound of your money yesterday i get 5m rgb tape and my reciver didnt worked so they sent me money back and i dont nees to send it back
Hm. Few observations. ...... First, they could say "Well, it's compatible with 10gigabit hardware". I say that jokingly, but seriously, that's legit marketing junk that's used in name-brand products as well. How many Sandisk 2.0 USB drives had "2.0/3.0 Compatible" printed on their packaging with Sandisk knowing full well that tech-illiterate will mistake them as USB 3.0 drives. Don't believe me? Google "sandisk 3.0 compatible", look under Images and the first result is what I'm talking about. Funny the 2.0 drives say "2.0/3.0" and the true 3.0 drives DON'T say 2.0, they only say "USB 3.0". Well, USB 3.0 IS backwards compatible, just like 2.0 is forwards compatible, so shouldn't those drives list "2.0" compatible?... Well, if the labeling didn't have an ulterior motive aside from listing it's compatible capabilities...... ;3 =3 Second, unless your home pre-dates the 1970's, your home probably has 20 or 25 amp breakers (with 20 being the more common). A 20 amp breaker alone can handle up to 2400 watts, 25 amp up to 3000 amps (becoming very common in new-built homes where I live), and keep in mind that they don't throw until after a good while has passed if you're just slightly over that. So I think we caught Linus having lived in a pretty old house at some point with 15 amp breakers (handles only up to 1800 watts). XD Thirdly... Haven't they learned that they can't let Linus have knives? =P
Dark Nes Your referring to a T-shaped socket for devices that have perpendicular prong plugs. Those sockets can handle single devices that can use 20 amps on their own (and thus such sockets are used on 30+ amp circuits). For plugs, you're right, but we are talking breakers (and the coordinated wiring gauge- but that's a given) Its important to note we are talking circuit breakers, as a 20 or 25 amp breaker will never be used to run a series of 20 amp plugs (one device in one plug runs the breaker at full capacity, you'll need a bigger breaker and wiring gauge to compensate to allow several devices to be connected at once.)
ENEKO TORRES You can run a breaker at maximum capacity all day and night (2400 watts for a 20 amp breaker) and it's safe (assuming your home is to code and the right gauge wiring is installed for the breaker). It's when you step even a tad over that line that the breaker starts to warm and will eventually trip (depending on breaker brand and type, a few watts over capacity can take hours to trip the breaker. The more over capacity, the quicker the breaker trips.)
More conflicting information, my hp pavilion gaming laptop cx0139tx says it has thunderbolt (no specific version is mentioned) even the manual says if (as in does it have the symbol then yes but i don't see which version of it)it has thunderbolt implemented, has a thunderbolt symbol but hp and thunderbolt technologies says it doesn't, so does it have thunderbolt and which version?
Though sites like DX or Aliexpress aren't exactly the place you should search for high performance components, at least with Ali Express there is a well-functioning dispute function, and you can dispute without sending the item back, just take a picture of the wrong item/defect/a screenshot of low performance etc. as documentation.
Came in the comments to say exactly this. I have no experience with DX, but most items on AliExpress are covered by their customer protection, and if you don't receive an item or you receive something that's wrong or false advertised, you are 99.99999999% sure to get your refund (without even having to ship back to China the item).
You forgot one thing. For those of us who know this sort of stuff, $4 for a USB 2 to 100mb network adapter is actually not a bad deal. So sure the specs lie on the listing but if you just need a simple driverless USB to 100mb ethernet adapter this might not be so bad. Adjust your expectations. LOL
Yeah, if it's driverless on Windows, Linux, Android and others, it may be a bargain. God knows I've tried to get good USB ethernet/Gigabit adapters, even having 300/400 on a USB 3.0 but older phones tablets... Nope, I always end up compiling again or just giving up
To be fair AliExpress hands out refunds like candy, and if the description was misleading you don't even need to ship the item back. I actually love to take advantage of this for lightbulbs. Pretty much every seller overrates the wattage, so I buy bulbs that are rated at 2-3 times what I need, then on delivery, I hook them to a kill-a-watt, snap a picture showing that they consume way less than advertised and propose a pro-rated refund in exchange for keeping the product (so if they advertised the bulb as being 10W and they really only sip 5W, I ask for a 50% refund). That's on top of bulbs already being dirt cheap to start with. The sellers rarely refuse and the few times they did, the AliExpress moderator acted in my favor. Amazon is great for brand stuff and quick shipping, but nothing beats Ali on price if you know what you're doing. It's just great that we have both choices.

Alibaba is a wholesaler supplier, where the user is expected to message the seller to get more details. The results for a product search is often just one model of a whole line of products that the seller manufactures. It is up to the user to message back to narrow down what model you want.

Gritting my teeth as Linus both cuts towards himself and makes chalkboard sounds against the chip...
Well, if the labeling didn't have an ulterior motive aside from listing it's compatible capabilities...... ;3 =3
Second, unless your home pre-dates the 1970's, your home probably has 20 or 25 amp breakers (with 20 being the more common). XD
Thirdly... Haven't they learned that they can't let Linus have knives? =P
The 1500W limit is for
prolonged use electric devices
Deepspace1insight no it's that 20 and 25 amp appliances need special plugs one's that blenders to my knowledge never have
Dark Nes Your referring to a T-shaped socket for devices that have perpendicular prong plugs. Those sockets can handle single devices that can use 20 amps on their own (and thus such sockets are used on 30+ amp circuits). For plugs, you're right, but we are talking breakers (and the coordinated wiring gauge- but that's a given)
Its important to note we are talking circuit breakers, as a 20 or 25 amp breaker will never be used to run a series of 20 amp plugs (one device in one plug runs the breaker at full capacity, you'll need a bigger breaker and wiring gauge to compensate to allow several devices to be connected at once.)
Just use it with an european 230V socket and draw 3600Watt with typical 16A breaker.
