- In this week's episode, we travel to Mount Franklin, Victoria, and free camp in our converted Ford transit campervan. The mountain is very close to Daylesford and Hepburn Springs. Technically it's an extinct volcano.
We cook up a winter storm; beef and red wine stew, Mexican toasties, fresh eggs on toast, and share you our recipes.
In this video, I show you how to cook nachos and slow-cooked beef in pasta sauce, in the camp oven. I also make homemade gnocchi. For breakfast, I cooked Spanish eggs.

Great episode guys. We love Staggchili jaffles. The block of wood is a great idea.
The damper and stew looked amazing. You can thicken a casserole or stew with a little amount instant gravy. We love Mt Franklin. Its nice and peaceful. It smells so nice with all the trees. I bet it was minus up there overnight. We slept so good there. I agree with Adam with size and price of things. Don't bother with the Polly Waffle it is nothing like the original.

Lovely place. Fun fact, near there is a place called yandoit. A cemetery called franklinford is where my dads family is laid to rest. They already have a plot when that time comes. Anyway love getting to that area when visiting bendigo. We make a day trip.

Hi guys - another great video. Your stew recipe is great - the only thing I do differently is put the flour herbs etc in a bag & toss the cubes of meat in to coat. That way you create a gravy & thicken the sauce. Cheers from Bowral NSW

i found your channel and i find it very relaxing. i think you made the damper slightly thick maybe a bit flatter and yes slightly less time. i dont know how you tube algorithms work but your channel is good enough to blow up one day and become big.

Food always tastes great at Mt Franklin. There is a guy who comes around selling firewood often too.
Do try Jubilee Lake at some stage, even if for a walk with Twyla, it's one of my favourite Daylesford picnic spots and camping there is really pleasant, even if you do need to pay. Better for bird watching than Mt Franklin usually, but I love both spots! Hugs to Twyla! 🐕🐕🐕

Have you thought about having a hot water bottle when you’re free camping and it’s cold ? Keeps you so warm.

If you want slightly thicker stew lightly flour the meat before you caramelize it with oni9ns😁

Hungry before, but starving after the episode. Enjoyed. It!…….. can I ask, do you guys have a diesel heater installed? Also when you’ve been free camping, what do you do with your grey water?
Thanks for watching the episode glad you enjoyed it. Unfortunately, we don’t have a diesel heater, but we might think about getting one in the future. we have friends with them and they love them. we have a grey water tank so we can take the water back home with us.

I remember having Damper with my Parents I think U needed more water looked dry...but I wish I was there to taste...
I don't understand why people don't make dampers or bread at home to save money not hard...
Your stew need some cornflourer to thinken it up...
Those Eggs were a fantastic Colour dark yellow so fresh I hope U stoped and got some more how much were the 2 and a half dozen...U could of had doubles in the other ones...
I love the look of that breakfast pizza...U mexican's know how to suck up to the cold with all those cakes...were is the peacan pie next thank you...
I think U guys need to buy a sleeping blanket for -5degrees I bought one for Tamworth and was as warm as toast had dona under me and dog Elliott we didn't more all night long and it was freezing...
So go and get a sleeping bag for -5 degrees and don't take all those blankets don't keep U warm...
Could please buy Adam some warm hand warmers...love the fire lights...

The eggs were delicious and it taste so fresh but I’ll find it a bit wasteful to buy 24 when I don’t think would use them all 12 pack fine .
The pizza at wombat Hill cafe What to die for definitely have to try out if you ever go. Don’t know if I’ve ever had a pecan pie, but maybe Adam can try that next time we visit a bakery.
If we want those sleeping bags, we’re definitely gonna have to save up for them. They’re not cheap at all. Have you seen the price? Crazy?

These are my favorite episodes, camp cooking by the fire!! Very enjoyable to watch and i will be trying wombat hill cafe...the breakfast pizza looked yummy!!
Thanks Beth definitely have plenty more in the future. we do like to mix it up but we enjoy doing these cooking episodes little bit more relaxing for us as we are only in the one spot and not running around a town for the weekend. But don’t get me wrong we love our country towns and the bakeries. lol 😂

By the way, I am surprise that your dog Twyla sleeps with your partner and not with you in the cozy space of Toyota Hi-lux camper :)!
