You're right that the song is about meeting someone and believing that you have a perfect ideal love. BTS released the Love Yourself album trilogy that follows from that early perfect idealized love. Followed by the second album that talks all about the eventual heart break and pain that follows when you look for all your happiness in someone else. The 3rd album holds the revelation that all happiness has to come from personal growth and the development of self love.

      Almost:
I think the problem was less the looking for happiness in others but changing yourself to be "perfect" for someone else idea what a perfect partner/relationship is/denying your own true self.
You have to love your "imperfect self" (Epiphany) first to being able to healthily love others.

Bret, you are definitely not too old to be ARMY (BTS fan). I saw KISS perform when I was in my teens, I also remember when the Beatles visited my country.
As a previous ARMY said, this song is from the first of a trilogy of albums (the Love Yourself trilogy). Love Yourself: Her talks of the excitement of love, Love Yourself: Tear describes the hurt & pain of love, and finally Love Yourself: Answer is about the epiphany of realising that to love others you must first love yourself. I suggest you listen to Epiphany (a solo song by Jin of BTS) a song that has helped many people through difficult times, including myself.

You described the "Love Yourself" as bits and pieces. It's not.
Those are concept albums and all 3 are connected not random collected songs to a theme:
      "Love Yourself: Her":
      - "Intro: Serendibity" : The first meeting of someone "special" happened and you are insecure about it - first "love" - but also hopeful as in sounds "perfect"/mystical
      - "D.N.A." : Full blown "perfect" relationship that can only be "fate"/"destiny" - so happy
      - "Outro: Her" : I'm so happy in this love - I am pretending/changing myself to be "perfect" for your "perfect" love: everything you want me to be
      "Love Yourself: Tear"
      - "Intro: Singularity" : I know why I'm not okay and I know the barrier I created is "melting" but I keep pretending it is "perfect"
      - "Fake Love" : going from "I don't know why" to " "I just know why": I know why I'm hurting, I can't recognize myself and the pain is breaking the relationship apart
      - "Outro: Tear" : all this pain of the broken promises, it's over
      "Love Yourself: Answer" (compilation album)
      - "Epiphany" : the reason why it didn't work: i have to love my imperfect self first before I can "love" others
      - "Idol" : the celebration of healthy self-love
While certainly described as a romantic "first love" relationship that is true for all relationships: with family, friends etc.
To "love Yourself" you have to "know yourself" which is why the "Map of the Soul"-albums follow: Carl Jung's psychological theories about "self"
      You nice! Keep going! 💜

BTS is the biggest group in the world, it's very possible you have heard their music but didn't realize it was them. Something I would recommend is putting their name (BTS) in the title for the video. I just think it's respectful to have their name also mentioned (I know you did mention their name in the actual reaction) as they are more than just kpop, they are a global phenomenon. Kpop isn't so much a genre as it is an industry. BTS do all sorts of genres pop, edm, rnb, hip hop, latin, neo-soul, jazz etc. BTS roots as a group is actually hip hop and they've been together as a group for over 10 years now. And in case you were wondering it's been the same 7 members since the beginning. The members are also very actively involved in the creation of their music with songwriting, producing, and composing. And their fandom is also very diverse with people of all ages, nationalities, genders, and races. Don't make the mistake of assuming all their fans are young girls or all their songs are just basic love songs. They have over 300 songs covering so many genres and subject matter. DNA was the first song BTS performed on American television back in 2017 on the American Music Awards. To my knowledge BTS hasn't discussed their individual thoughts on religion or even their faith much. The youngest member Jungkook did say his dad was Buddhist and his mom was Christian but he didn't grow up with their faiths being pushed on him so he didn't identify with either one. Right now BTS isn't active as a group because all 7 members have to enlist and serve in the Korean military for at least 18 months due to military service being mandatory for all able bodied men in South Korea. 3 members are currently serving (2 as active duty soldiers and 1 as a public servant due to a past shoulder injury/surgery) and the 4 other members will be enlisting this month. But the good news is they have renewed their contracts and will reunite in 2025 once their service is complete. And trust me when they do tour again it's going to be huge.

I’m a PK, a university professor, a grandma, and a BTS fan. I think you’d enjoy the lyrics in most of their songs. Their message is positive and often quite deep, surprisingly. Their leader (rapper RM) is a poet and wrote quite a bit of their lyrics, he has an IQ of 148 and is quite the renaissance man, in my opinion. Each member makes very unique contributions to their songs. I think you would enjoy Blood, Sweat, and Tears, among many others. Not all their things are this techno pop sound. One thing that has attracted many of us, besides their music and dance, is their wholesomeness and comedic side. They have quite a bit of content out there not musical but just of them interacting with one another. I found this endearing and highly entertaining. Thanks for the reaction.

FYI, not only girls... BTS fandom is made up of not only screaming teenage girls but also both men and women from all ages (literally from kids to people in their 50s, 60s and 70s). The fandom is called ARMY which represent BTS or BangTan Sonyeondan. It's Korean for Bulletproof Boyscouts. "Bangtan" means to be resistant to bullets, so it means to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim at adolescents like bullets, to preserve the values and ideal of today's adolescents.” ARMY is an acronym for Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth. I'm 48 years old and I'm an ARMY. DNA is one of their hit songs from their trilogy album LOVE YOURSELF. BTS has a wide variety of music genre such as pop, hip hop, EDM, R&B, ballad, jazz, Latin pop etc. name it, they have it. They are all songwriters, composers and producers. 7 men with 7 different musical styles. That's why BTS is more than KPOP. They don't follow so many KPOP rules. KPOP is not just a genre of music. It's an industry which focuses more on visuals, production, loud backing tracks during live performances, and idols with no artistic freedom because their company controls everything. KPop idols are not called artists. They are just simply idols who perform the songs created by other people. BTS however from the very start was given artistic freedom to write, compose and produce their own music. When they were teenagers, they wrote songs about school and made commentary about how bad the education system in Korea and how adults put too much pressure on students. When they were in their 20s and struggled of depression, mental health and loving oneself, they produce the trilogy album LOVE YOURSELF: Her, LOVE YOURSELF: Tear and LOVE YOURSELF: Answer. Although they have in-house songwriters and producers, all members actively participate in music production and song writing. Fun Fact: this song- DNA was revised after the producer presented it to BTS. The members didn't like how it sounded so they had to make some changes and this is the result. The message they send through their music resonate with the general public. They gain more fans for every song release because of their wide range of music genre. They even have heavy metal music fans because they also do rock music. They have amazing music videos but OH!!!! they are better live. They literally sing live and dance with intense choreography at the same time. That's why they became big in the west. You have to watch some of their live performances. Their concerts are insane! They can sell out stadiums around the world including, Rose Bowl, Sofi Stadium, Allegiant Stadium in the US and the legendary Wembley Stadium in the London. BTS can sell out stadiums with 50 to 90 thousand seating capacity. Getting a BTS concert ticket is like hunger games because they sell out tickets in less than an hour and sometimes just a few minutes. And by the way, they are poets too. That's why you noticed that their lyrics are poetic because they are poets. They have performed in the American stage such as BBMA, AMA , the Grammys and have been invited to late night shows. American stages are too small for BTS to perform. LOL! Please react to the following music videos and live performances. You'll be blown away. I promise. 💜💜💜💜💜

    "BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS",

You are right about the lyrics being different than “boy bands”. BTS’s music reference art, literature, Greek Mythology, history, and Psychology, BTS have inspired millions to read, study, appreciate art and culture, support others, donate to worthy causes, work hard but yet take care of our physical and mental health. It sounds lofty but all of it is true and more.

I am so incredibly interested in you two diving into BTS. First of all, BTS is a boyband, but their similarity to past/western boybands stops at the fact that they sing and dance. Their lyrics are always deeper than most people who first listen assume they would be. They have an album centered around the book "Demian" by Herman Hesse that explores good and evil, for instance. They have another set of albums that explores Carl Jung's "Map of the Soul" theory of psychology. They address issues of social justice, mental health, and more. I am one of many Christians who connect with their lyrics, as well as with them as people. There are also a lot of atheists, Buddhists, and more who connect with them. The BTS fandom (called A.R.M.Y.) is a beautiful mix of diverse people of every age, race, nationality, gender, creed, sexuality, etc. you can imagine.
A few comments (none meant with ill intent):
    1) BTS do not lip sync in live performances. They do use a backing track that is largely helping to synchronize what they are doing with what's going on around them. Occasionally they let the track take a lyric - either to prove they are singing live or because a dance segment is more strenous - but it's clear when they do that. There are no "smoke and mirrors" like you see with a lot of other artists.
    2) It's not only girls who love BTS. I am female, but definitely not "a girl" in that I'm 57 years old. BTS fans range from young children to 70 to 80-year-old grandmas and grandpas. In fact, 75% of their fans are over the age of 18, and half are over the age of 30. We are students, employees in every field under the sun, and retired people. We even have fanbase accounts on Twitter from NASA, a medical union account, an account with attorneys who help the fandom understand legal issues related to BTS/Korea when they arise, a greenhouse account, an account that organizes and tracks regular charitable projects (something the fandom is known for being very active in doing is both raising money for charities and organizing work to help those in need around the world), and so much more. There is also a large number of men in the fandom...not yet a majority, but millions of men are also realizing that BTS is incredibly talented and has something for everyone in their 300+ song discography. At a concert in Vegas last year, BTS member V got the crowd to split up by men and women and each group cheered. The group of men was so large that all of the members were super excited and surprised.
    3) What you discussed about the topic of love - that there is another side of it - is also a part of the series of albums of which this song is a part. Love Yourself: Her, Love Yourself: Tear, and Love Yourself: Answer are the three albums. Someone else explained the themes of each album, but it's a great lesson for you if you want to delve into BTS - their messages rarely are shallow, and even more they are usually a part of a bigger "whole" that their albums have as themes. I call BTS "the thinking-person's band" for that reason. They inspire me, make me think, and have helped open my mind around all types of things.
    4) BTS covers numerous genres of music. The techno/EDM of this song, R&B, rock, rock ballad, neo-soul, pop, rap (which they have taught me to love and appreciate because the three BTS rappers are incredible poets and use their lyrics to comfort, inspire, and motivate listeners), hip hop, and many more. Each of the seven members has a music genre that they love, so the band uses that to experiment and try new genres...and they do each genre they try very well, too.
    5) BTS as a group is currently on a temporary (emphasis on TEMPORARY) hiatus. Three members are currently doing their required serivce in the South Korean military (all men ages 18-28 must serve), and the other four will enlist in just a few weeks (the rumor is mid-December, but the guys and their label haven't yet confirmed the exact dates - just that they will have all enlisted by the end of December). They officially began their hiatus in June 2022, and since then they have all taken the opportunity to do solo albums, work on collaborations with other artists, pursue other passions, and rest. Their individual solo work is just as impressive as their work as a group. They are incredibly hard-working, and every single member has seen worldwide success with their solo projects. Those solo projects are also diverse in genres - most are even diverse in genres within the individual albums themselves.
    6) BTS has 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. They debuted on June 13, 2013. The members currently range in age from 26 to 31. They have been described over and over again as a group that destroys the boyband sterotype of having one (maybe two) truly talanted individuals capable of striking out on their own and seeing success. BTS is a group with SEVEN superstars. They have been compared to the boyband equivalent of Marvel's "Avengers".
    7) BTS has written and/or produced 99% of their music as a group. The exceptions are two of their fully-English songs - Dynamite and Permission to Dance. Someone in the group has at least a writing credit on pretty much everything else.
    8) BTS's core language is Korean, but they do include English in a lot of their songs - often the chrorus or hook will be in English. They also have Japanese albums.
I think you would benefit from watching the "A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7" video by Taylor Mari. I really hope that you watch/listen to more BTS. I'm interested in seeing you fall down the rabbit hole with the rest of us.

I had to laugh when you said they were more poetic than usual boy bands. That is an understatement. Their lyrics have layers upon layers and have some really beautiful imagery. RM (one of the main lyricists) started by writing poetry and really loves it and literature in general. They also write unlike boy bands of the past, which infuses a depth and connection to their songs. Their depth is what drew me in and keeps me here.

Oh boy! I’m so excited to see this, and I’m sure this will be way too long but I sincerely hope you read this. Let’s start with this, I am a 47 year old mother of four, horse trainer, Christian from Iowa. Probably not exactly the demographic you thought this band was reaching, but it is definitely the demographic. BTS is not a band, it’s a revolution of good. Although they are extremely quiet about their personal lives, I can’t believe that many of them are not Christians, because their music and their life is led in a very Christian like manor. They do good, they care about people, and they want to make a positive impact in the world. They are also extremely humble. They say the BTS finds you when you need them. I was first introduced to them a few years ago by a student in my barn, who was a big fan. Although it took me a little bit of time to get past the colored hair and wild outfits, Im willing to admit that not judging a book by its cover has a solid Christian message, I no longer see any of that. I just see some really good men trying to do good in the world. BTS found me a month before an F 4 tornado hit my farm. The tornado destroyed almost everything we had, including our house and barn, but as you know, God controls the wind, and not one living thing on our property, including all of the horses, cats, dogs, and humans were touched. I had agreed about a month before to buy tickets to a concert in the cinema called Permission to Dance. It was a BTS concert, which would be broadcast in movie theaters across the world. I didn’t have much interest, but my daughters wanted to go. So one week after the tornado, we all went to a movie theater and saw BTS Perform. The joy and happiness that they brought me that night will never be forgotten. They are just rays of sunshine in a bleak world. They speak out on things like mental health and other wrongs in our world, not only in their music, but on the world stage. I am currently serving in as an elder and worship leader in my church, and I only listen to two kinds of music. Contemporary Christian, and BTS. I love all music, and maybe that’s why we love BTS so much, because they are genreless. This was a strange first reaction, as this song isn’t even the top 50 of me for their songs. It is very boy band-ish, and I’m also kind of a rock girl. I’m sure you’ll find your way, but I suggest On: Kenetic Manifesto as your next video. Thank you so much for your reaction. I have subscribed and would love to see more of your opinions. And we purple you.💜

Hi there! Thank you for reacting to BTS. I’m a 63 year old Korean American who found BTS 2 years ago and they truly helped me during the worst period of my life as I was devastated by my husband’s death. I grew up loving the oldies, rock, classic rock and the 80’s music. I lost interest in popular music sometime in the late 90’s and just listened to what I already liked. I knew about K-pop but I never paid any attention to it until I found BTS. I’m not a K-pop fan but I am BTS army all the way. All the members of BTS are amazing not only as music artists but as decent human beings. This 1 group brought an almost bankrupted independent music label into a multi-billion dollar corporation, brings billions of dollars into the South Korean economy every year, 25% of the tourism is due to BTS and they paved the way for kpop to become worldwide. They were invited to speak at the UNGA 3x and partnered with UNICEF to raised awareness to protect children from abuse. Yet with all the fame and money they stayed rooted to the ground and stay humble. They helped me and tens of millions of people around the world. We the BTS army consists of young, middle aged, and older people, so many different nationalities, cultures and languages. Once again, thank you for checking out BTS.

Generally, if you give a genuine reaction without being close minded you won’t get too much negativity.
From what I remember not all the members are the same religion or even religious.
As far as music taste, like it’s been mentioned, they have a wide range so you’ll probably find something you like. Visually, you will never be bored.
They have a lot of meaningful songs, sometimes they leave lyrics open for interpretation (easy eg. fake love- not necessarily about a love interest, may be a parent, friend, etc), but RM especially will do livestreams chatting with fans about an album, writing the music and lyrics, things like that. They also have songs that they’ve specifically written for army.
A lot of their lyrics talk about loving and accepting yourself, and the journey to get there. So, army loves to spread their message..and you’ll probably be bombarded haha~ I do hope you end up reacting to songs like magic shop and answer: love myself.

Love this and love your analysis especially about it being a false view of life. This song is part of a album trilogy, DNA comes from 'Love Yourself: Her' which is basically what you said, to me it's like the honeymoon stage where everything is great and how you want it to always be. The next album in the trilogy is 'Love Yourself: Tear' is about change, when a person is so head over heels hopelessly in love like in DNA sometimes they try to change themselves for that person to keep them happy, and never lose them but how can that person truly love you for you if you don't show them the real you. The Last of the trilogy is 'Love Yourself: Answer' and it's about realizing that in order to truly be in love you have to first love yourself enough to have the confidence to show that person all of you the good and the bad. The albums are made so that if you listen to the songs in order they tell an incredible story and it has many genre's. All the members of BTS are incredible songwriters and producers, RM the leader is a genius poet and lyricist. Thank you so much for reacting to this ARMY really appreciate when reactors take the time to giving BTS a chance since there is a negative stereotype around "boybands" but they are so much more than the typical boy band.

I understand if the music wasn't your cup of tea maybe but BTS has so many genres and I think there is something there for almost everyone
For example if you watch MicDrop (Rap Hip-Hop) vs. Fake Love (Rap Rock) vs Spring Day (Ballad) there is such a difference in genre
Also regarding the story you said about the singer who was basically having two mics in a live performance because she was lipsyncing:
You should really watch a BTS live performance, the sing and dance and don't lipsync and I would say some songs are even better live

8:15 funny that you say that because this song was the title track of love yourself: her which is first of a trilogy of albums where the first is about this love that seems perfect (as they say in DNA) and then you get to the second album love yourself: tear where you realize that its not actually perfect and that there's a lot of nuance to it and then the last album love yourself: answer is the one where you find the solution which is that before you allow yourself to love anyobody else you must love yourself
BTS are renowned for their lyricism. its one of the many reasons they have so many fans (me included). also boyband is an okay term to describe them but we don't like to use it, we prefer group because boyband can be stereotyped and bts are nothing like that stereotype. the only thing boyband they have is being all men and singing

Hi dear. 68yo Army (BTS fan) here. If you're going to keep reacting to BTS then you should probably react to "A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7" by Taylor Mari. RM is a literal genius (IQ 148) and is the main song writer. He's very well read and frequently uses Carl Jung philosophies in his lyrics. Also many of their songs that seem to be about romantic love are actually about their love and relationship with their fans.

Thank you for this lovely reaction. BTS is the biggest boy band phenomena on the planet. There are 7 immensely talented members, 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. They are not just any Kpop group, they've been around for 10 years, so there is a lot of content. They all write and produce 95% of their work. This is a multi award winning group , almost 1,000 awards, with a discography of 400 over songs in all genres, although, their initial roots were hip hop. The band is very much loved for their very deep and meaningful lyricism and creative instrumentation. They have a very diverse world wide fan base of over 50 million, and still growing, of all ages, whom they affectionately call Army. I am a 66 year old Silver Army, into metal, rock, classical and pop music and to me BTS is my favorite and the best! For a start, I suggest that you look into t heir English songs, Dynamite, Permission to Dance and Butter, All these songs were done to bring love, comfort and encouragement to the world during the COVID Pandemic. Their Korean work is massive, so a sampling to begin with is, On Kinetic MV, Fake Love, Black Swan, Mic Drop with Steve Aoki, Spring Day, Boy with Love, Mikrocosmos. Some of their very good Japanese Songs are , Truth Untold, Your Eyes Tell and Film Out, you will absolutely be amazed and fall in love with them! Check out the Guide to Bangtan, by Taylor Mari and for the Brief Story of their Albums, awards, accomplishments and backstory check out The Most Beautiful Life Goes On (2023) latest updated version by Rice Squad.

Their Albums all have a message to them they sing and rap about social issue's, mental health, they reference great books, art, pychology, etc etc. the importance of self love and acceptance in order to be able to love other people. Also with the album's there's an on going story line the albums tend to come in works of 3's

    Thank you for your reaction!
I was a teen in the 90s - barely noticed that boybands existed. 1D was everywhere but i had prejudice/thought I was too old and maybe I was.
I like that you caught that the "love" they talk about is waaaay over the top: it is supposed to be: it's not a healthy relationship that follows. RM is a genius: IQ 148 already in a test in middle school.
The "Love Yourself" era are 3 *concept* albums that belong together:
    - "Love Youself: Her" album: from the first meeting (Intro: Serendibity) to full blown "perfect" love (D.N.A.) to saying you change yourself to be "perfect" for the others ideal of "perfect" love (outro: Her)
    - "Love Yourself: Tear" album: from ignoring the hurt and the locked away parts of self (Intro: Singularity) over finally aknowledging that the pain is greater than the relationship so it breaks (Fake love): the pain of loss (outro: Tear)
    - "Love Yourself: Answer" compilation album: aknowledging that you have to love your imperfect self first before you can love others (Epiphany) and celebration of healthy self-love (Idol)
The truth is that all this is true for all kinds of relationships: romantic, family, friends etc.
BTS has always told a story of coming of age: school, youth under hardship, literatur/philosophy (Hermann Hesse's Demian is the basis of the "Wings" album), self-love and psychology (Carl Jung: Map of the Soul) and than we have the pandemic album BE.
At the moment we had an anthology album last year and after that solo albums that showed us how different they are as musicians/people. Military service is the reason for the break. In 2025 they will reunite. They debuted in June of 2013 and have over 300 songs.
    The fandom?
Is very diverse: a third are male and we have ca. a quarter of fans in their teens, a quarter in their 20s, a quarter in their 30s and a quarter in their 40s.... + some younger AND some older fans. We come from all over the world and all walks of life.
BTS is kinda big and have been the subject of a few studies because surprisingly they ARE actually different.
A short intro is Taylor Mari's Bangtan 7 and while it is over a year old now it is still our best intro. They are so much bigger than you think.
For people with time and interest we have much, much more. Because for them we have done as much as they do for us. They are good people.
    You nice! keep going! 💜

Great reaction! Thank you for taking the time to understand the lyrics, because those are a very important and deep part of most BTS songs... I'm a 54-y.o. wife and mom in Texas who discovered BTS six years ago and never looked back
The variety of music they do makes them endlessly listenable... With seven members you never get ear fatigue from hearing only one voice on songs like you get from other groups or solo artists; BTS songs can feature all seven, or only one, or units of 2, 3, or 4 members... Plus their songs span music genres from rap to ballad, pop to neo-jazz/R&B, EDM to Latin-influence
And their dance talents are unsurpassed, so that's just gravy on top with music videos... Some of their most popular videos are the ones they post of themselves in their practice studio just doing their choreography! They're called 'dance practice' videos and many of their songs have them
For a completely different side of their music, you might want to check out their slower, neo-R&B/trap hip-hop song, "Black Swan", whose theme is the group's fears of losing their passion for music

I enjoyed your reaction! I appreciate that you took some time to explore the lyrics. Although BTS members (who write a majority of their music) are not known to be religious, some attended Christian schools. They are very well-read, philosophical and promote basic principles about love for humanity. They sing about a lot of social issues. Here's where you're going to get roasted: not just "girls" are fans of BTS! I'm a 59 yr old ARMY (in Kpop the groups give names to their fanbase) of BTS. I enjoyed KISS but was more of a Michael Jackson/Hall & Oates fan (sad about their feud btw). At BTS's last performances in Las Vegas (spring 2022) they asked the men at the stadium concert to cheer and the response was significant. They have an album series about love for yourself, coming from a country with a high suicide rate it's very important. They have partnered with UNICEF, spoke 3X at the United Nations, and met with Pres. Biden to discuss Asian-American hate crimes in spring of 2022. A great thing about art is that it is open to interpretation by the receiver, and as a Christian I adore that we can find messages of faith and love in their lyrics.

Yes, hello, don't feel alone, I also grew up as a young kid in the 1970's & I also remember KISS back then. But even if I listened to some of their songs, I wasn't much into them. I also watched one of their superhero tv shows back then, heh. But just know though that KISS has their Army, even to this day, while BTS has their ARMY, so in a way that's how these 2 bands are distantly related in my mind. The first time I had heard of BTS & ARMY years ago, my first immediate thought was indeed KISS Army. And BTS normally meant Behind the Scenes in filmmaking. But nice reaction, maybe you will stick around with BTS & go down that rabbit hole, since you guys are "hopping around" checking out different stuff. Yes, BTS is very deep with their lyrics, sometimes even deeper than this one. You may not like the style of this song, but BTS does also employ other genres, some of them with rock music elements. Also as you guys mentioned, BTS is indeed considered the biggest band in the world right now. And very smart & aware of turning on subtitles/cc, when other new reactors sometimes do not enable that.

I loved your reaction! Liked your insightful interpretations and how respectful you were, especially the pastor, in voicing that this is not his style of music. 'DNA' is actually a love song to ARMY, BTS's fan base. It's not a love song to a girl but to their fans. This is one of the ways they show us love, which is a reason why they are so hugely poular and not just with girls, so don't fight the urge to stan them and be ARMY. The largest cross section of their fan base is 25-50 yr olds. I'm a 63 yr young, male ARMY. BTS is my Fountain of Youth! BTS does so many genres well, keep reacting and youll find something he likes. They have a disco pop track, their first ever all English song, 'Dynamite' . React to that and also one of their older tracks, 'Mic Drop'. If you want more awesome dancing, 'ON' Kinetic Manifesto', please. Also, you should react to, 'A Guide to BTS', by Taylor Mari. Please keep reacting. I promise to subscribe on your next BTS reaction. You would be impressed that BTS sings live. They usually sing with a backing track, but you can definitely hear that they’re singing live. You hear the breathing and staccatos when they’re dancing. Army is super protective of BTS because they’ve been through so much hardships to get to where they are. Them and their label are a crazy underdog story, but as long as you remain respectful, Army will not destroy u 🤣. We get a bad rep because there’s always the bad apple that ruins our image or if you are disrespectful then we will show our claws.
But in general Army is more mature. As you can see from the comments section, a lot of the fandom are mature fans of both genders. Unlike what we’re perceived as which is crazy teenage girls. That’s because there’s a depth to BTS’s songs and a deeper message that the group shares with the world that a younger audience would not understand. They don’t always sing about highschool crushes. There’s only a few of those in their 400+ discography. I personally am not into bubblegum pop and only tolerate anything pop, but I love BTS after discovering their discography. I know appreciation all their songs (even the really poppy ones) because there’s an actual message in their songs or there was a purpose for those songs. I hope you will at least give them a few more chances. They are so diverse that there’s bound to be some songs that don’t click with you right away. But they get better after each listen. That’s their magic. It took me 9 months to fall for them

8:12 That's such a great catch! Most people miss the point of all the grandiose sentiments being expressed in the lyrics DNA. Love is imperfect and, so this whole concept of a divinely ordinained, exceptional love is an illusion. BTS released an album trilogy called 'Love Yourself,' and this was the title track of the first album called 'Love Yourself: Her' which explores the naivety of first love. The second album 'Love Yourself: Tears' starts with an intro song called 'Singularity' (the first lyrics of this song are literally 'the sound of something breaking') followed by the title track 'Fake Love,' which I think you've reacted to.

There are so many people who’s lives changed completely after they discovered Bts. These guys are truly the most humble and down to earth artists you’ll ever know. I’m a person who doesn’t really like celebrities. I mean, i can appreciate them and their talent, but i can’t like them for their personalities because i don’t know these people. But when i tell you that bts literally changed everything for me, i mean it. They got me feeling things i never knew i could feel towards a person I’ve never seen in my life. And don’t worry I’m not in love with them or anything, what i mean is, that because of how hard they worked and how much they loved their fans and literally changed my whole personality into someone i really truly love i started to love these men with all my heart. If you get to know each of them, you’ll know they aren’t faking their personas. They truly love their fans. The youngest member, Jungkook even got the fandoms name tattooed on the back of his hand. They wrote tons of songs for us and even hold a freaking free concert. Bts is so down to earth and humble i can’t put it words. I think you’ll understand what i mean better once you get to know them.
I really really recommend you to react to the guide to bts by Taylor. And don’t worry army’s don’t mind long videos. The longer the better. I think i speak for everyone when i say that. Just give them a chance. You won’t regret it i promise. And there are songs for EVERYONE because bts has a song with almost every genre that exists. They are all writer and producers and RM, the leader of the group is the main songwriter and has an IQ of 148. He wanted to become a poem when he was younger lol. Great reaction! Hope to see more soon. We army’s like honest opinions rather than lying and overreacting. If you don’t like the song it’s fine. Just be honest. I’m interested in your reactions.

Louder than bombs (there’s no official mv but you can watch either the live version or the mv by elisssa. There are lyrics)
UGH! (A really good songs from the rappers. You have to pay attention to the lyrics and i recommend to watch the explanations video after the song by DKDKTV. There is no mv to that either so here too you can react to the live version or the color coded lyrics)
      Born singer (2015 live)
      Fire
BTS Cypher pt. 3 Killer (color coded lyrics)
Euphoria (by the youngest member Jungkook)
Pied Piper and Dimple (definitely the live version. Both songs are in one video. Pied piper is a song that tells the fans to concentrate more on themselves and their studies instead of spending the whole day watching and listening to bts lol)
Live goes on (about the pandemic)
Bts 2021 room live festa (AMAZING)
Bts tiny desk (home) concert (also really good)
The reason i recommend so much Live concerts is because bts is always better live. I promise. Just watch and you’ll know what i mean.

    Love your honest reaction.
Easiest to think in these terms. K-Pop is an industry . It covers most genres and includes soloists and groups and is a term used mostly in the west to indicate that the artist is from Korea and has music that is popular. In Korea they don't really use the term K-Pop. They call them Idols (or Idol groups).
It is not common for Idol groups to write their own music or be so involved in their art. BTS has broken thru the barriers that come with being called "KPop Idols" and have become "Global Artists" instead. That said they are extremely proud towards their country of birth so being referred to as KPop stars does not bother them..
The reason so many ARMY get upset is that it is usually used in a derogatory manner when people just dismiss BTS as some little KPop boyband. As you will find most (not all) of KPop is innane lyrics to boppy tunes and no real substance.
BTS bridges generational boundaries - for instance 5 generations of my family adore these 7 humble young men (from 90 yo grandma to my 2yo grandson)... I've been ARMY since 2016 (I'm 52)
I really hope you do more BTS to see just how much their music heals millions of people.
    Have a wonderful day💜

I find it interesting how you landed on doing DNA in 2023 instead of one of the more recent songs. Thanks for your church member who recommended them. Interestingly enough, you picked up on exactly the kind of love they were talking about....this song is about first love and how it feels like it is forever, etc. This song is on a trilogy of albums. The first album is about first love, the second album is about "real love"....both the good and bad sides of love. The third album is about the realization that you must love yourself before you can truly love someone else. BTS often use trilogies to explore complex ideas such as love, personal growth, goals and dreams, society, etc. I do hope you will explore more of their music. Thanks so much.

Welcome to the BTS rabbit hole! As long as you keep an open mind and make your comments subjective….you’re about to 10x your RUclips audience 😝. I’m a 48 y/o male, husband, and father of two. My daughter introduced me to BTS during the early days of the Pandemic. After lived through 4 eras of music, BTS is above all music groups of my life time. Theres has been no other groups in the last 100 years that has done or will do what BTS has done. The only reason why the entire world doesn’t know about BTS because the western music industry ( which is a corrupt one ) doesn’t promote them. But as we’re starting to see, BTS is forcing their way ( organically ) into the western music industry. But enough about that. The group consists of 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. These guys are for real. Although they all are individually talented and can thrive on their own, they know that together they can achieve more greatness because they all can contribute their individual skills and talents. I encourage you to do more deep dives into this once in a life time group. Thank you! Have a wonderful journey!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Welcome to the world of BTS. Their lyrics are powerful and can have many interpretations from romantic love to love of friends and love of self. BTS sing live when they perform. They have practiced for thousands of hours including singing while running on treadmills. They are ultimate professionals and deliver amazing performances. The is an amazing amount of materials to view. Others have covered their current status so I won’t repeat. We (Army) say you find BTS when you most need them and they bring comfort and healing to many of us. We love them. They are a special group of men who continue to make a difference in the world.

8:30 What I love about BTS' music is that, superficially you can take this as a love song between intimate partners, but knowing BTS, their story and how they put their experiences into their music, I don't even necessarily take this as that type of love song. These 7 are known to have a very strong dynamic and synergy together, they consider themselves family and brothers and even they and their label wonder sometimes how they could have been brought together in the seemingly random way they were. They talk about how BTS coming together is/was fated and meant to be. Love also exists between friends, family, coworkers, pets, nature and so much more. Also to your point, this 1st album in the Love Yourself series explored the beautiful/positive side/expression of love, but the next album LY: Tear explores the shadow/negative aspects....which also follows the timeline of when they as people and artists were overwhelmed and burnout and seriously considering disbanding, but because their bonds are so strong it was a time that literally felt like a break-up for them, hence we got songs like Fake Love, Seesaw and Outro Tear.

and the greatest is Love. yes God put it in our DNA but it's also for us make that choice to love one another as God love's us. I suggest you continue with BTS as they're lyric's are meaningful compared with what one would normally find within Kpop. BTS are on different level to Kpop in the main. Its' why they are the biggest global group on the planet they touch so many people. We have a saying within the fanbase 'You find BTS when you most need them' They've saved so many lives.

I don't know if it's true or not but I read somewhere that one of Jhope's "bedside books" would be the Bible. As far as RM (the leader) is concerned, many of the books he recommends to ARMYs (their fans) are more philosophical or psychology books. Could you react to their song "blood sweet and tears" I'm sure you will find a lot of references that will speak to you in this MV.

8:26 speaking of a false way of looking at love, check out their song "fake love", it discusses losing yourself for someone else (doesn't have to be romantic love) and how you ahould love yourself and be true to yourself 1st. For the record, i believe some of the boys are Christian some are not, some they haven't said 1 way or another. You should watch them sing & dance live, they definitely do it proper. (You can tell on video of them live, plus i can attest to it as I've seen them in concert). I'd be curious to see your take on blood sweat and tears, its about temptation (any kind of temptation) and theres lots of religious imagery. Its based on the book Damien. These guys are all about positivity and making the world better through music & by leading by example). Theyre genuinely humble, generous & good. They sing about more than just love , they tackle social issues as well. Id love for you to get to know them by checking out "an introduction to BTS members the bangtan 7" by Taylor Mari. Thank you for your reaction. 💜

Their songs cover many topics regarding mental health, societal expectations etc. As the saying goes, you can’t judge a book by its cover & with BTS you can’t label them just a K-pop or boy band, they are so much more. I am 56yo ARMY from the Midwest so far from a teenager. I hope you check out more of their music.

I'd advise you to look at the "Love yourself trilogy" at the very least the main tracks and the solo songs for more context. BTS are storytellers, some songs can be standalone, but most are part of a storyline. This specific song was mostly about that "honey moon phase" from a relationship, so in a way, you are right. But that's part of a piece and I'd love to hear your views about loving yourself from a Christian perspective. Looking forward for future BTS reactions, because they have so much value to offer and I can't wait for you guys to uncover more!! 💜

As a priest in the Scottish Episcopal church I listen to these young men and they have taught me so much about self love empowering young men and women and making the world a better place- The kids are alright. I have presented papers at Windsor Castle at clergy consultations on the depth and meaning of their lyric and the way they are able to connect and help people across the generations. There's a saying the fandom- they find you when you need them. The way they have helped so many is phenomenal. Are they Christian? Honestly I don't care- they are an influence for good and help people see the need around them and react in kindness and care...that's a darned good start - they open hearts to the possibility of a better world. Not just young girls -I'm 63 my husband -ARMY adjacent is 64.

If you want some Christian imagery, their music video for "On" (they have two music videos, you don't want the performance video where they're dancing in Sepulvada Dam). Their video for "Blood, Sweat and Tears" also has a lot of religious imagery and reference to the seven deadly sins. I think you guys would have a lot of fun watching those. Have fun on your Kpop journey!

interesting enough, DNA is from the album named "Love Yourself: HER", which then was followed by "Love Yourself: TEAR" and "Love Yourself: ANSWER". the trilogy walks us through the developments of the view on love. first, in LY: Her love is a powerful yet idealistic feeling that then faces reality and breaks in LY: Tear, revealing how dangerous, harmful and untrue to you that love was. the answer we come to at the end of this journey in LY: Answer is that we need to love ourselves before loving someone else and that's how a healthy, equal and loving relationship can be created
so, you were pretty on point
also want to add that yes they are appealing men, but is their looks the reason why im an army? nah. it's the things like what i talked about there ^ that make me stay with them

    BTS fans are not just girls; I am a 67 Year old woman. The fans range in age for 5 to 95, are male, female, non binary, gay, straight and are from every country in the world. While this song is a love song, they have several song that touch on mental health issue; acceptance, loving yourself, just being kind. they share their struggles also in their songs. They even have a song about the loneliest whale (true story) and one about Pluto the dwarf planet. They interact with their fan base (ARMY), after a concert, instead of partying they will do a Live video, where share, answer questions from the chat. They quietly donate to good causes; disaster relief, BLM, even scholarships. thank you for reacting;

10:20 🤣🤣 You guys actually cracked the code 👏👏 In the surface, "DNA" just seem like a typical"love song". But it's actually made to elaborate how superficial and how the so called "love" that we think is real, is actually just an "illusion".
Which why the MV looks so oddly colorful and everything looks so purposely superficial. Even the lyrics just appears to be written by a fool who's blindly in love but wasn't aware of it.
Of course, it's not that obvious unless you really think about it, but usually people won't bother to think cause it's expected for a boy band to write typical "love" songs right?
So BTS used that boyband image as an advantage and indeed released an album full with superficial love songs, and of course they got a lot of questions mostly from their fans cause it doesn't sound like BTS at all.
But it's only till you finish the whole album that you'll realize that the album has a dark twist.

I am 54, and BTS is my favorite group. They do all genres, not just pop. There are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists in BTS. They have currently all released solo albums while some started their military service. The rest of the members will be in the military this month. They will be back as a group in 2025. It is mandatory in South Korea. All men must serve in the military.

Can you please look into doing more bts, hardships viedo and do the guide too. Im sure you'll find music you like. Alot of people give alot of ideas what you should do next and they are all great and you cant go wrong.
Bts does sing live they have a backing track but thats normal. When they are not singing they move the mic away from their mouths. Alot of the members talked about there training to sing/rap and dance live. They wore mask while running on treadmill and all so they sing while running too. Some of the members talked about it on Suchwita which is Suga(one of the rappers of bts) talk show on youtube. He all so talk to other artists, actors and actresses, and sport stars. Its really good and you learn more behind the scene stuff from them too.

Hi, 51 year old ARMY from UK here (former rock and metal head). I would absolutely love to hear your take on the BTS song Blood Sweat and Tears. As another person commented it is based on the book Demien by Herman Hesse which follows a boy's growth into adulthood and the understanding that there is good and evil in the world, and about temptation. The MV has a multitude of symbolism and the lyrics are beautifully written.
BTS' similarity to a "boyband" in western terms ends at the fact that they are male and can sing, They also write, compose, and produce. They are a super performance group which means they all dance to a very high standard. They are all super talented, humble young men who write about many important topics such as mental health, societal expectations, depression, etc.

As a Pastor I highly recommend Blood, Sweat, (inspired by book Damien and others) and Tear and On music video. Oh! And Anpanman and Mikrokosmos (unfortunately they don’t have MV’s but I recommend live performances with English subtitles. If you look up song live and English subtitles you will find videos of performances where fans have kindly added captions)
Also I recommend Life Goes On, Spring Day, and Fake Love.
Also I would love to hear your thoughts of their Carl Yung inspired songs: Persona, Shadow, and Ego
Edit: I think a beautiful thing about BTS music is their lyrics and that you can interpret them in so many ways, so their isn’t one way of interpreting, which leads to more different people all of the world with different backgrounds to come together for music.

  • @sugasmeow
    @sugasmeow 8 месяцев назад

Great observations. BTS’ albums are thematic. DNA is on the first Love Yourself album, LY: Her, which is about finding your one true fated love. LY: Tear is about that perfect love falling apart. LY: Answer is about realizing that the answer to finding love is to first love yourself. BTS doesn’t just make good pop music. Their lyrics are deep and meaningful, which is why people from all religions, cultures, ethnicities, genders, ages love them. I’m 52 and I’ve never connected with music like I do with BTS’ music.
Please react to Blood, Sweat, and Tears AND ON, the official MV. Both have many Christian themes.

As you may have read in other comments, ARMY isn't only teenages. The fanbase has a pretty even split among the 20s, 30, and 40s age demographics, each being around 20%. Some of our more mature fans are in their 60s and older. They're our beloved Silver ARMY. They are just as passionate and active in the community as anyone else so we're always happy to see them out at concerts and at the movies for cinema releases. They're a wonderful, important, supportive and loved demographic in the fandom. I got some fun music recommendations from one of them just today on Twitter when we were all discussing our first tours. It's cool hearing their stories about going to concert with Queen and The Beatles etc. It's nice when music removes age barriers.
I'm glad you gave BTS a chance with an open mind. You can listen to 10 of their songs and they'll sound so different. Even if you listen to only their hip hop songs, you'll find different subgenres and vibes for each. One might be 90s underground, one could have a touch of neo-soul, another could be more boom bap, another might have a rock edge to it, one might be more pop-leaning rapping.
