Greetings from Sydney, Australia. Awesome vids, keep up the fantastic work. I am 64 and only started cycling 3 yrs ago to improve my health & fitness. Now i do about 200+ kilomtres per week. I'm not great on hills but i try to not let any hill beat me. Your videos inspire to do better. 💜THANKYOU💜
Love the channel Katie. I grew up less than 10km from there. Now in my 50ies, and living in New Zealand. Watching that made me want to take my wife there, and show her some of the stunning rides in the lake district!
Thanks Katie, I live in stalybridge not to far from Greenfield/Isle of skye road into Holmfirth. I did this little loop two years ago, just back on the bike after three months off. A couple of months more and will try again, thanks for the inspiration. Keep the vids coming they are brilliant, stay safe.
I just did this today on a Gravel Bike with a 25 out back on a compact. I ruined me but I did get to the top without stopping. Not done a 100k ride in years so not the best of ideas today. I only was going into town for a coffee as well. Turned into a 130km epic with lots of jelly babies. Keep up the good work!
Well done! 👏 looked on strava and you beat my time by 9 seconds and also beat some pretty strong blokes I know who get KOMs all the time on popular climbs. Excellent work
Katie I'm lovin these rides! Can't explain what a thrill it is to watch you take on these climbs and do it so well. I would give anything to live in the UK and have roads, the scenery and circuits like Holme Moss and Winnats Pass...and would be even better to ride them with you. Your riding form and muscle tone looks excellent. I have watched the Winnats Pass video at least twice. The commentary really adds to the video.
Winnats pass is so steep and I tried it a few times and was having another go at it, I watched Katie’s video and it helped me achieve it. I was so chuffed, it’s a gorgeous climb and part of the peaks and photos don’t do it justice. Hope you get to try it one day.
Got to go do this climb again soon. Your climb video of Mow Cop helped me out and now im analyzing this even though ive done it before. Such a good challenge of a climb
Katie - Love the videos. Can you look at doing the Double Trouble Segment on the Moss as it's a great challenge. Holmbridge up over the moss summit, down to the junction by woodhead reservoir then turn around and back up/over finishing back at Holmbridge. 😁
Well done Katie. Such a beautiful climb and great to see how far you've come as a rider. Superb video and commentary. I really enjoyed this one. Bravo! I am really glad to hear you're open to putting your heart rate data up. I know you train to power (as do I), but seeing heart rate when up these climbs is very interesting so thanks for doing that. My suggestion for a climb is Draycott Steep in Somerset. It's not far from Cheddar. Strava segment number 659038.
I love watching these rides, keep them coming. I have a climb a few kilometers from my house with a very steep bit at the end. The first time I did it, I had to walk that last bit. The climb took me about 33 minutes. Two weeks later I went up it again, determined to get up without walking and hopefully be a bit faster. I managed to do both and got up the hill in 26 minutes! I didn't expect to beat my PB by 6 minutes. Started cycling again (after 10 years hiatus) in May of this year and have slowly been progessing my fitness level using Strava and Zwift. Both are great tools to help me get fitter but your stories inspire me that it will get better over time.
Great effort Katie! Having climbed Joux Plane with you last summer, I was immensely impressed by your power on such a long, steep ascent...especially on such a hot day too (~30°c). And can confirm to any doubters your numbers are real. Love watching your vids that encourage the discovery of challenging new climbs.
I love your climbing videos! I’m working hard to get better and love hills- but right now I still hate them & suck! Watching this is definitely motivation.
Wonderful, remember Nicole Cooke riding the Cat & Fiddle once on the Rourke ride held every year, she passed dozens of Male riders! Love to see you ride that climb Katie, take care and stay safe...
I enjoy watching your videos,I live south manchester so either travel west for Cheshire plain or east up the hills behind Macclesfield I just enjoy the scenery take loads of photos,I enjoy the canal rides too so peaceful no cars, this area has something for everyone in the cycling world,we are lucky. I admire your enthusiasm to share what you do. For the record I’m near the bottom of hill climbs on strava, I’m not worried about that, it’s how I’m improving every time I attempt a climb and I feel fitter,I’m 57.
Great effort Katie, my favourite local climb :-) I ride it regularly and that definitely seemed a busier than usual day for traffic. I remember riding it the following evening after the TdF went up, with all the paint over the road and not a soul about, eerily brilliant. Also, love the climb past Dove Stone heading over to Holmfirth (the Isle of Skye road), that's another cracking climb.
Looking good. I always like looking at your stats Katie. I've got a list of hills on quieter roads in the Nidderdale area. I've got a loop that I did over a week back. Dacre, Darley, Birstwith, Summerbridge up to Brimham Rocks. Pateley Bridge and Bewerley have a few steep climbs and nice views over quiet landscape.
Great video, keep them coming! love the tip about the explore local segments, I tend to look at what loops the faster riders in my area do to try and get ideas of where is best to go.
Great effort 😎👍... not done this climb for a good few years .... must revisit... back in the day (1990's) used watch the pros race up it ...Leeds international classic
very nice effort. i gave it a bash today. got 10.51 @328w. but i weigh 77kg. my route then sent me over ewden bank and back (u turn), then up pearoyd lane, then jackson bridge. great area for smooth tarmac and climbs. thanks for the vid.
Absolutely smashed it katie really well done. My number 1 favourite climb, and the descent on the other side is faaaaast. Peace out heywood neighbour 👍👍👍
Ah Katie, I remember doing this many years ago. It's absolutely stunning. From there my adventure continued to Snake Pass. That was a great day in the saddle. Sadly the Pennines are not on my door step, so it's lovely to see you riding up these iconic climbs. If you're ever in the South West, you could try an effort up Burrington Coombe, near Blagdon. It's 2.4 miles long and not too steep, with a few little kicks here and there.
Well done Katie, I've done that climb a few times and you would have passed me for certain... and disappeared in to the distance. Have you done butter tubs yet?
Great time up there. Two of the countries best hills not far from the North West try Great Dunn Fell near Appleby yorks And Hardnott pass in the lakes. If you can do Hardnott you can do anything. Both stunning rides with outstanding views.
@@KatieKookaburra I have to confes to pushing up Hardnott, the only hill to defeat me. My excuse a 32 on the back & 100 miles in the legs. Even with a 34 it will be a challenge.
Awesome Katie, well done, love the video's, more please.

Excellent climb. Don't worry about others opinion about the strength of your ride. You are obviously in great shape so it is absolutely normal to be strong and fast on the climb. Just go forward and don't look back on those envious guys.
The best day had on Holm moss was when the Wincanton Classic was there, they went up twice. Saw some great riders My favourite Claudio Chiappucci.........you would have loved it........Mo..............
Living in West Cumbria there's no shortage of hills to climb, I would recommend Birker Fell from the Eskdale side, then add Bobbin Mill Hill before finishing with Corney Fell. Stunning climbs with super steep sections for the lovers of hills.
Birker is my fav climb in the Lakes, the entry to the start of the climb and seeing it bend off up and to the right gets me every time, its just beautiful and such an awesome climb to ride, stunning scenery too. Blea Tarn aswell is up there, just beautiful in all directions.
Don't bother with all those negative comments! We love to watch you ride, and there's nothing wrong with filming yourself and why on earth would you even think that the watts are fake..? Good going!

Enjoying your climbs - just watched this and Winnats pass. A suggestion, probably not too far from where you live - Norwood Hill Climb north of Otley( the B6451). That's my test climb (I live in Leeds) - it nearly kills me every time. I fancy Holme Moss, which I've never done (not Winnats tho!)
People will always try to bring someone down who's achieved something they can't - You've inspired me to try more hills this year! Also, if you take requests, have you had a go at Thwaites brow in Keighley? I can thoroughly recommend that one.
Great climbing katie i know you run a 40 0n the back do you have a compact on the front so would you go up there in the big ring on the front and 40 on the back, as you said further down you did it in 54-40 ?

Have you done church lane at Hebden Bridge ? its in the top 100 and an absolute beast of a climb! I done this climb last week and the wind was incredible took my breath away but was a head wind all the way up
It’s horrible! Would love to see you tackle it Katie! A woman told me last time I done it that it’s part of 3 other climbs called the 3 bitches. Couldn’t find any info online about them but can imagine it’s right as everywhere up Hebden is uphill
You could help Ribble sell some electric bikes ! Borrow one from them. I think there is too much ego in cycling , imagine how far you could go in one day with an electric bike !
Look at the line up of Cannondale electric road bikes , they look incredible. I really think this is the future. Rather have one than the Porsche or Austin Heally that passed you on the climb. I just ordered one for fun !
I've had to walk it twice. First time I was loaded up on a tourer. Second time, I had my 5 year old son on a kiddie back tandem. So both times I new I wouldn't manage it, no not really a proper attempt. Got to attempt it with some respect 😂
I observed my strava segment I wanted, rode to it and counted how many houses from the nearest corner to know when to start the segment. Point is, you need to start and stay at your goal power and you'll do better.
Excellent!! Your riding so much lately that you can only get better and better! I found with cycling that keeping the body weight down where it SHOULD be, then training hard AT that weight is key!!!! To reach that point is bliss!! :-) :-)

I'm getting better at climbs, I'm new and heavy but doing my best. Still 16 and a half stone now down from 21, the more I lose the fast I get up hills. Its very rewarding when noticing the difference.
You should come over to Northern Ireland sometime, I’ll take you on a spin over Torr Head... it’s pretty brutal, it’s about 5 different climbs, over 6 miles or so, hits 18/20% in places... you’ll leave me for dead though!

Still 16 and a half stone now down from 21, the more I lose the fast I get up hills. Its very rewarding when noticing the difference.
Congrats
You should come over to Northern Ireland sometime, I’ll take you on a spin over Torr Head... it’s pretty brutal, it’s about 5 different climbs, over 6 miles or so, hits 18/20% in places... you’ll leave me for dead though!
