- The Oscar-winning duo behind Free Solo are back with a very different tale... how to save a group of young men from a cave that has been made inaccessible by water and where they will soon die if they are not rescued. The duo took some time to chat with David Poland about making the film.

Ron Howard just finished his movie about the Thai cave rescue called Thirteen Lives, starring Colin Farrell. It should be out in April or May 2022. Hope you can get someone from that film as well. Keep up the good work, David!
I saw Thirteen Lives, and while it included some perspective not seen in this documentary it felt largely unnecessary after watching The Rescue which had a far greater emotional impact for me.
It's not terrible by any means, but it isn't Apollo 13 either.
The Rescue is top-notch film-making, 9/10.
Same, I just wish I could get hold of a 4K bluray for it.

Sorry. First live interview in over 18 months. And not a lot of a time for me to set-up. Probably could have done better on the mix. But you certainly know 100x better than me.

I wonder if they would feel the same or act the same if any of the boys died. They lost lives in the rescue attempt, sure it wasn't one of the boys but it is is still a life.
Man do i feel sorry for Jimmy having to cope with such a "partner". Hope he's happy though cause he seems like a great, dedicated dude.
So they are about to make a Jake Gyllenhaal film, right?

Jimmy didn't get to talk much.. only biting away his lips or smiling blankly.. that's sad to see. He's a very soft spoken, intelligent man, i would've like to listen to him more. seems like Chai has the reigns in their work and relationship unfortunately
He has a million interviews alone if that’s what u want.
In other interviews (ie Variety) he speaks equally. Also, when it comes to production of films, she has more experience. After all, they met with him seeking her input and advice on footage he took. With respect to this doc, from the Variety interview, she did much of the leg work prepping and seeking the special forces footage that he kind of gave up hope of getting. She went to Thailand, personally convinced them the footage would be in good hands with them. She deserves to speak on this.
