I can still remember being 10 years old in the backyard with my dad and grandpa fixing up the truck. Hearing Pearl Jam’s backspacer for the first time. My goodness how I’d kill to have my grandpa here..
I'll never forget how aggressively Target promoted this album Summer of 09. Literally every time I'd walk by the music section this song was blaring from the TVs all day, all night. I was like damn Target never promoted an album this hard before lmao. Now every time I hear this song I think of Target that closed down in 3 years ago now. It's crazy how time flies.
3 years later and I’m just trying to get through the night. This helps. Also old enough to remember ten coming out. They’ve grown with me and I love it.
I can't help but admire the enthusiasm of the band, at their age and with their experience. Most bands that have lived as long as Pearl Jam just fade away and lose their values, but not these guys. The energy of this song is just amazing.
I hadn't listened to Pearl Jam in a long time and one night after gaming i decided to turn on the tv for once, i was flipping channels and this video came on. I didn't know who it was but I was impressed. I thought, this band whoever it is is pretty good and the singer guy has got some pipes wow. He can wail! Then at the end of the song it said Pearl Jam and I laughed. well no wonder lol. I didn't recognize Eddie but after knowing it's pretty obvious. This song will always be special to me in that way.
From angry grunge youngsters to energic matured rockstars, so proud of having a tattoo of this band and love them since Ten until Lightning Bolt. Im 23 anyway
I doubt this is a live performance, just a "live show" music video. Where did you get that it's a live performance? Some detail even look pretty staged to me, very weird considering it's PJ who are usually very real about their music...
@@thepoofication audio is completely different to the album version: it's 100% a live performance, although they probably tidied it up and replaced some parts in the studio after (Eddie isnt that consistent and the crowd noises sound partially dubbed)
Here is an inside scoop from someone on set that day (not me). A man named Kevin. "I can see myself in this shot. I worked with the production team of this video (well I wasn’t working that day, I was in the audience). This wasn’t a real live show and audience rather it was people invited and hired extras we shot at The Showbox. It was directed by Cameron Crowe. The band ran through the song probably ten times, some live and then a couple lip synced. After the team got everything they needed to capture, the band did a little 3-4 song show for the crowd. I’m forgetting what songs, I think Little Wing and Sonic Reducer were in there…" Hope that clears things up!
12 years old and I still feel energized and happy with this song - bipolar depression and it really helps me. I’m that age now that he was back then, running on stage with so much energy! It gives me hope.
Yeah, hey, hey When somethings dark, let me shed a little light on it When somethings cold, let me put a little fire on it If somethings old, I wanna put a bit of shine on it When somethings gone, I wanna fight to get it back again Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, fight to get it back again Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah When somethings broke, I wanna put a bit of fixin on it When somethings bored, I wanna put a little exciting on it If somethings low, I wanna put a little high on it When somethings lost, I wanna fight to get it back again Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, fight to get it back again Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah When signals cross, I wanna put a little straight on it If there's no love, I wanna try to love again I’ll say your prayers, I’ll take your side I'll find us a way to make light I'll dig your grave, we'll dance and sing What's saved could be one last lifetime Hey, hey, hey Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, fight to get it back again Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Fight to get it back again, yeah, yeah, yeah Fight to get it back again, yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Djordje Simic Maybe or maybe is Liam Gallagher or maybe Freddie Mercury or maybe Chris Cornell or maybe Elvis Presley or maybe Axl Rose or maybe Brian Johnson or maybe James Hetfield or maybe Ozzy Osbourne.
Hello! Bartz SR-851. It is difficult to choose they are excellent singers but it is also important to highlight one of the best voices that the rock genre has had: Mr. Robert Plant.
Not many bands can deliver an album better than the last one each time... for 20 years man! Congrats boys! I wanna hear your 40th anniversary album. That's gonna make the world implode.
A great fan of the Seattle Sound since Rehab Doll and Bleach came out, I was totally convinced for 20 years that a Grunge song could never be positive and hopeful. Then this one came out. And 14 years later it still rocks. Thanks Pearl Jam! ❤
My dad used to play this when I was younger, and I liked it but I was so young I didn't think much about it. The other day it played on the radio while I was with my dad, and damn is it a good song!
I heard and found out yesterday on MTV and I love it. Tremendous amount energy. That song is a songwriting deity. That will rock your soul. Like a a scream, a smile. His voice is a nugget of gold. It lit a fire in me. It makes me want to dance up a storm. I unfold my wings bright steel in salutation open sharp before you.
Really brings back the memories... I remember listening to this song over and over playing pvp in WoW with my friends every day when it came out. I miss those friends. RIP Polly.
So touching music, energy and voice. Pffff I can't never get over this band. I don't like every albums they've done but when the song is good, it hits you like it always did throughout their songs.
Honestly never liked PJ's grunge style before (except for even flow) but this new song is just brimming with inspiration and just makes you want to embrace life! Im loving it!
recuerdo estar entredormido con la tele prendida, cuando escuché que comenzó está canción fue increíble con la energía que me desperté, ahí nació mi amor por PJ
I was too young to listen to them earlier but I don't care that you say that they're old. For me they sound great, fresh and 'moviemaking'! This song is masterpiece! What the hell are wrong with you? Maybe you're now too old to listen to them, with your old job and boring life;-)
inspirational to empower and better myself whenever I hear this song. Ageing, and growing up where their career undertaking we've all followed, they turned out nice. Genuine. Love and respect from N. Borneo.
this song makes me feel happy and hopeful, i love it
yes! me too, if i had a shit day at work or am just pissed this song just makes me happy. strange, but welcomed feeling
This song makes me oink
I love pearl jam....this is the song that makes me want to go out and get it!!!
The world was funner back when this song came out
Pops passed away a little over a year ago, growing up he loved Pearl Jam. This song gives me childhood nostalgia like no other
I can still remember being 10 years old in the backyard with my dad and grandpa fixing up the truck. Hearing Pearl Jam’s backspacer for the first time. My goodness how I’d kill to have my grandpa here..

Cant believe this is 10 years old already. Feels like yesterday it came out.
Such an underrated song.
It's not.. It's 14 years old already
You won't believe this, but you both are right

Pearl Jam got me through the 90s and they’re getting me through tonight. Eddie just gets it. You’re not alone.
Much like sitcom laughter making unfunny jokes seem funny, it makes a shit song sound bigger.
@@serjsidey7348 Nah, the song is great. Nobody really doubts that. I agree with the sitcom thing though.

Crazy and awesome. first PJ show i saw was March 94 in detroit.... so cool to see this music grab you and youth. It grabbed mine, still has it
Do you still love them with gigaton?
vasco saldanha some songs in Gigaton are great, of course is a new sound (as Lightning Bolt) far away from his 90 and 00 years

This song has a special place in the hearts of everyone who worked in the Electronics Department at Target circa 2010.
The ol man's still got it
This is the first Pearl Jam song I heard, back in school
me too
Wow me too and I am also an arsenal fan!
Hey young guns, I hope you discovered more. This is a solid song. But the discography of Pearl Jam is ridiculous.
I'll always say this but Eddie is my inspiration when I'm singing on my own I'm proud to live in a world with this rock legend ✌️
Cuando los escuchas a ellos no hay depresión ni tristeza, ellos le ponen esa luz en mi vida ❤😊

18 year old me fell in love with this song when it hit the radio I wish they would have played it more.
Super underrated song
How possible is this song has not 1B views
Just started to appreciate this album as it gets older
Or as you get older : )
Henk van os me too, I didn't like it a whole lot to begin with but maybe the other commenter is unfortunately correct..... age lol!!!!
I was 25 when it came out.. wouldn't know if those 6 years make so much difference.
Lightning bolt actually struck me as soon i first heard it.
I don't even know why everyone hated this record when it came out. Maybe cause he stopped with the Goat noises and now he sings like a normal person
Backspacer is so underrated,
IMO
