Thank you for featuring the skills of local tour guides in your recent videos. Once the world is able to return to Italy, we'll need to know who to contact for dreamy Italian days out.
What I thought was going to be just a fun time picking chestnuts, actually was very educational. And you captured the beauty of the surroundings so well. I nearly forgot where I was!! : ) That's how enthralled I was with this little excursion!!! The food must have been delicious, because everyone was quiet and just chowing down!! Thanks for the get away!!
Chestnuts! Always a treat over the holidays! Dad made a special pan to roast them! It always amazes me when you hike the trails in the mountains. Paths, walkways, steps, abandoned stone buildings. I wonder about the people who built, lived and walked these paths in years gone by.
This was my favorite blog yet - you took me away from soggy Cape Cod, Massachusetts to a magical woodland with history. Loved, loved, loved this! Thank you so much for sharing with all of us.
Your vlog is one of the best of any u tube videos I have watched. I always learn something new about Italy and especially the Amalfi coast. Your photography and commentary are excellent. Please don’t stop. I really believe that this would be a top hit if it was on tv. I wish you and Carlo well.
I loved the peaceful surrounds in those amazing hills Nicki. You are very sensitive to nature and I love that too. I get transported by you vlogs every time Thanks a mill XX
I think it’s so interesting to know not only is the sea beautiful but so are the mountains above it, both are essential to life on the Amalfi Coast. Enjoyed the history of when the road was built in the late 1800’s, amazing job by all your friends it really shows how much you all love your country! 🐿🍄
Hello, Nicki! What an informative and wonderful video!! I find when someone tells you it will be an "easy, relaxing walk," those are the hikes you will never forget. Loved Alessandro's knowledge of how the Amalfi area was back in the 1800's. And when he smiles? His entire face lit up. What a wonderful group of people. Thank you for posting! Best, Angela
I’m watching you pick the chestnuts and I thought to myself ..will she end up with enough to distribute them around like you did the eggs??..How thoughtful of you to give them to the in-laws! I love how you all have the garden and such!
Again we've been taken on an adventure to the Amalfi Coast without leaving our living room but feeling as if we have. Thank you Nikki for the beautiful Adventure Aloha the folks in Cali.
What a beautiful, magical place. Living in Orkney, Scotland there are very few trees. I really miss them, especially as I used to hunt for sweet chestnuts when living in England. Thanks for sharing Nicki!
this is so much fun. Watching your video is a constant reminder to myself that the simpler your life, the happier you are ! Over here in Kuala Lumpur, everyone is chasing what's trendy or the shiny objects as they say. Too much distraction and not enough commitment or focus on what truly matters. Thank you Nicki ! hope sky is doing alright. Cheers and God bless
Thank you Nikki for taking us Chestnut hunting with you. We make so many little sacrifices daily so that we can work it's nice to have a rest so that you can do this cool things in nature that's all around you😄 love your videos keep them coming!
Gosh Alessandro’s English is impeccable. Bravo 👏👏👏 During the Second World War my mother said rabbit was one of the major sources of meat because they were so plentiful!! I love rabbit braised in garlic, bay leaves, white wine and Dijon mustard.
They might have been plentiful because some kept rabbit, my father , who was a blitz rescue quad worker, had space behind the depot for lots of cages, I think the most we had at one time was 350, I as a small boy was kept occupied gathering food for them. Rabbit pie, roasted was a regular meal when there was not much available, always plenty of customers too.
@@JohnJones-cp4wh Very interesting John! My grandparents ran a dairy on Lillie Rd, Fulham which was bombed during the blitz, they then moved to Kings Rd (Maxwell Dairy). My mother was sent to live on her Aunt’s farm in Ceredigion, where they trapped wild rabbit. Very hard to find rabbit now unless you have a good butcher.
I feel as though I got to travel for 20 minutes.... Amazing video! I find myself feeling a bit sad when the videos end because I always want more! Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful experiences when it's not possible for many to travel. ❤️
Beautiful views 👀 love the fern covered old wall. No wonder you stay so fit. That steep hike then all the steps again to get home at the end of the day!
The amateur archaeologist in me is fascinated by the rich remains of those who used, worked and populated the mountains plus the development of tracks etc., around these fertile coastal areas.
Your channel makes me smile and my heart happy. My great grandparents were from Sicily. When I visited two years ago I thought how could they have left this beautiful place. You videos are reminiscent of stories my grandfather shared with me about his father's life. Thank you! Best wishes and good health to you and your family!
Fascinating Knew nothing of Chestnuts and that they were in The Alamfi Coast. We was then further north in Italy in a small village we passed through. One of the elderly women gesticulated they were good for the belly or digestive system. We were quite naive when we visited and would have like to have known more about the region and paths, but there was only so much you can fit is 7 week when you plan to self drive, train, and hike around Italy and France. Such stunning views you could never get tired of. Thanks for inviting yourself on that outing.
What a gorgeous way to spend a day - hiking in such beautiful scenery with lovely friends, & then going for a wonderful lunch together. Bliss! Thank you for taking us along with you - blue skies have disappeared in the UK at the moment so seeing the sunshine there soothes my soul. 💜
(Moira Ashton) What a beautiful where the chestnut trees are, such an interesting vlog, The food you ate at the end looked really lovely, there are also Chestnut festivals here in Spain... 🌰🌰
Such beautiful views, thanks for taking us along chestnut 🌰 hunting and a history lesson and what a good daughter in law giving the chestnuts to your in-laws ❤️
Blimey Nicki, when you were in a group listening to the guy talk about the valley and you stepped back I actually shut my eyes and exclaimed as it looked like you were going to go off the edge! I guess there wouldn’t be a video in that case though! 🙆🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Magnificent views of the mountains and vales and spotted wild pretty flowers and rendition of Amalfi chestnut.... quite a hike but so beautiful morning sunlight....🥾
Felt as if I too were climbing and picking. But that lunch at the end OH WOW!! When he come back this trattoria is on our list. Thanks for a nice virtual escape tonight !! And hope Skye is doing okay and out of Quarantine!
That was a fabulous vlog... the content, the company, the scenery, lunch, everything was incredible...I can't wait to see the chestnuts being cooked.. thanks for sharing... can't wait for Sunday 💜
Wow Nicki that was an awesome trip up that mountain. Never realized they grew so far up. You guys are really fit. I could never make that hike. Bravo to you all. At least we saw Carlo and Holly for a little bit. Yummy lunch too. Very informative group too. Thank you. Stay safe.❤
Well Nicki that was absolutely fabulous, the walk with those lovely knowledgeable people, the history and the views, just gorgeous, and where you stopped for a meal, just such a special place, thankyou. 🏴 xxx
Very beautiful Excursion. And put a nice daughter-in-law you are to give your hard-earned spoils away. I'm sure they appreciated them. Hope everyone is doing well in your neck of the woods. Love from Texas.
Alessandro is a gem! So well spoken and knowledgable. What a fun and informative vlog! The husks are amazing! I remember the first time I saw them on the road...driving somewhere in Tuscany. I thought they looked like little baby porcupines haha. Thank you for sharing your chestnut adventure with us.
This was absolutely stunning! The forest provides, but the ancients were like mountain goats! They so adapted to this near vertical countryside. They would have also probably made chestnut flour and that would have been a major staple throughout the winter months. I so enjoyed that tour! This is how I like to explore an area- with those who are passionate about its past as well as its present. Thank you for this mini vacation- another great video!
This has to be one of your most beautiful posts. As you said, definitely not for the fair hearted but so stunning. All those gorgeous ancient trees and carpet of cyclamen, absolutely glorious!!!!
Such a lovely hike chestnut haul the history sharing in amazing views breathless. The people of long ago living in such beauty simple food healthy long happy lives. The small home cooked restaurant has been said are so delicious made with passion in Italy. The lunch looked so mouthwatering perfect end to a successful chestnut hike wonderful guides❤️❤️👏👏Thankyou Nicki always happy watchingxx
WOW WOW WOW❣️ I so enjoyed that Thanku Nicki 💕 I felt like I was there with you & the other lovely people. I love the Amalfi Coast❣️ The view & those chestnuts 🌰 looked amazing ❣️ I’ve never seen anything like that. The history of Amalfi is so interesting. I was left wanting more. Your lunch 🥗 looked delicious 😋 xx 💕💝🥂
Thank you! Loved 😃 the video. Fun to see the natural habitat of what we buy here in the USA in November. Like Cyclamen, in the wild so pretty. And chestnuts roasting in the microwave is essential in Thanksgiving dressing. What a climb! So nice of you.
Mmm.... roasted chestnuts on the open fire! Tempting to have an early Christmas dinner with stuffing off course and use lots of these divine nuts. Free food...... amazing! Well done for all that effort and thank you Nicki for showing us that enchanting forest.
Nicki, you have done it again. You share so much with us and its all so beautiful. Why would you ever want to leave such a wonderfully historic part of the world. Its like life began there. Alessandro! a dream ! Im in love with him 😘 what a wealth of history he has to tell. The cyclamen flowers scattered through the woods are so pretty. I have gathered chestnuts in Geneva but now will appreciate them all the more because of the mountains along your coast. Wonderful video.🥰
Nicki, thank you for this beautiful trip up the mountains. I didn't catch all the details about architecture, but it doesn't matter. I've been re watching your vlogs at least twice each and every time, because they're so mesmerizing. Thank you for another job well done.
That was an AMAZING excursion! Thanks so much. Us tourists usually only get around on the main road between places, and I realize now I never really looked up into the hills to see that whole world that you open up to us when you go out like this. Maybe some time in the future, although I cant see myself and my older husband hiking around like you do! Thank goodness we have you to show it to us!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰👍👍 By the way, those lilac flowers you showed on the way are really lovely. They looked like cyclamen, but smaller. Maybe a wild variety? And we would love to know what the chestnuts tasted like. Here in Chile we don’t roast them, people don’t really go for them, but boiled, peeled and the mashed pulp with some sugar and big blobs of cream make them a wonderful dessert! Highly recommendable! Castañas con crema in Spanish.
Beautiful and very educational video. Thank you for enlightening your viewers. I know it was hard to go up the hill. You need to be in good shape and conditioned for such hikes up the mountain. Also thank you for not mentioning much about rabbits. I am here not to criticize you or anyone, all I want to say is that we rescued a bunny from a meat farm- 4.5 years ago. We stopped eating rabbit meat - forever. The bunny turned out to be the best pet we have ever had. The most affectionate , loving and extremely smart . He was cage free , litter trained ( actually we didn’t have to train him). They are little kids - curious of all the things around. He knew what he was not allowed to do , and every time you cal his name - he will be by your feet in 5 minutes 😂. If he was hungry- he would wait by the refrigerator . If you spend enough time loving and caring for a bunny- in return you get the best pet friend- who will become a huge part of your family. You will get unconditional kisses, he will sleep with you, he will protect you from people unknown to him ( housekeeper, guests, friendsLOL) Since he made a huge imprint on our hearts - we know that he can never be replaced with another bunny. We are so heartbroken over his passing.....🐇 I hope this cruel industry will end one day 🙏🏻
😲 WoW, your videos are incredible; educational, entertaining and simply delightful and you've become a FABULOUS tour guide Nicki. (The best!) I'm sincerely grateful. Stay healthy and safe. Hugs and love to you, Carlo, Skye, Nicola and family. (And wee Holly and cats). XOXO
I was mesmerized watching this video! All I could think about was my Father & I roasting chestnuts & the smell throughout the house Miss him soo much but I still make them & think of him. I could picture us hiking & picking them with all the trees & flowers & spectacular views! What a great day you have shared with us🥰 & lovely friends! You know soo many kind people! Thank You soo much again!
A lovely video Nicki surrounded by beautiful nature. I've heard so much about trattorias the food is suppose to be authentic home cooked food sounds wonderful. Thank you for sharing
Just a great day in the mountains. Exhilarating scenery and such a relief to see the sun and the ocean after a week of wet weather here in NY. Next time wear your hiking boots!
Thank You Nicki for all your video efforts. This ex pat living in Pennsylvania for more time than I care to share love to escape to your videos during these trying times. Too much detail to say all that I enjoy here- just all wonderful and Holly is such a brilliant little dog- love her ! Cheers and best, Stan
The best part of this video is the lunch. It looks so good and they gave you a lot, just the way I like it. Living in Positano is like living in a park. You are so lucky.
That was incredible. I’m not a fan of chestnuts 🌰 (I was so disappointed when I tried them on my first trip to Europe & England)... but very cool hike and history lesson. The views are STUNNING! I’d do that hike just to see and hear the stories. Grazie Nicki!
The scenery from up in the mountain are just beautiful!! I could never stand on a ledge like you can do. Sun looked great. Holley must have been sad she couldn't go. It looked like a perfect day for a hike. How interesting it was the Monestery. Thank you to your friends about some of the history of where women were able to work. Hi Carlo we did see him in this video.
My husband asks me what are you watching that's so intriguing, so now he's watching with me. Such a beautiful escape from our gray NY winter. Thank you.
Dear Nicki thanks for this beautiful vlog you gave the oportunity to see a chestnut tree I never seen one in person where I live we have the worlds leading pecan growers very near pine nuts but not chestnuts thanks again for another educational video ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Girl, once again you ROCKED IT!!! Loved this vlog, the scenery, the conversation, history and cuisine....just fantastic. I have a very soft place in my heart for little dogs, please give Holly extra kisses from her admirer Aunty Tutu. Aloha🌸🌸🌸

Great video Nicki! Thank you for sharing your beautiful Positano life. It is a much needed break for me from the politcs of Amercian life.
Chestnuts! Always a treat over the holidays! Dad made a special pan to roast them! It always amazes me when you hike the trails in the mountains. Paths, walkways, steps, abandoned stone buildings. I wonder about the people who built, lived and walked these paths in years gone by.

A lovely walk, history lesson and chestnut picking adventure. Very informative. Thanks! ✌🏽
Hiking, history and hunting "oh my"! Amazing scenery, so glad you brought us here with you on your hike. Enjoy the roasting on an open fire.

Oh I love wild rabbit and the way you described yours sounds delicious.
I am in the UK and remember eating rabbit as a child after the war. If I remember correctly it tasted quite sweet.
I was born in late 50’s in Australia and can remember my mum making delicious rabbit as it was a cheap food now so expensive !
I feel as though I got to travel for 20 minutes.... Amazing video! I find myself feeling a bit sad when the videos end because I always want more! Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful experiences when it's not possible for many to travel. ❤️

Thank you very much! :)
'carpet of chestnuts' vs. 'carpet of snow' here in Winnipeg provides a wonderful contrast. Learning lots, and loving it.
@Linda Penner, I saw that in the news. Sorry to hear that the snow came early this year for you. Take care💖
This was absolutely stunning! The forest provides, but the ancients were like mountain goats! They so adapted to this near vertical countryside. What a beautiful hike through that “enchanted” chestnut forest!!
This was absolutely fascinating and I never knew about the chestnuts! Thank you!
Holly would have hurt her paws on the spikey chestnuts , best staying home!
@@NickiPositano ohh I did not know they are spikey, yes best for Holley to stay home.
My husband asks me what are you watching that's so intriguing, so now he's watching with me. Such a beautiful escape from our gray NY winter. Thank you.
How nice to be able to collect chestnuts fresh off the ground. Another beautiful video!
So lovely you gave your in-laws your chestnuts.
So sweet of you to give all the chestnuts to your inlaws, you are such a good daughter.
