      This advice is for people doing BLW. Purées are generally skipped as baby’s “first foods” when following traditional BLW, and when eating more solid consistencies of food than purées, good head control and being able to sit up stable and support themselves is important to help prevent baby accidentally choking on food.

Remember you are the mama and you have better judgment than strangers on the internet. I hope your baby has fun, one of the great things about baby LED weaning is they get to play with their food, even if they're not eating it squishing it in their hands gives them a positive association with food.

  • @drkavz
    @drkavz 5 месяцев назад +11

    This is totally wrong ! Some babies can’t sit up straight even until 8 months so a 8 month baby can’t just rely on breast milk past 6 months babies iron and other nutrients requirements are more unfortunately BM doesn’t make that much after 6 months so starting solids is like a top up to boost up nutrients!
    Just make the baby sit on your lap upright position or even try high chair with proper support and start feeding little by little ! Ofc watch if baby is showing interest in food while u eat etc never force feed , look for allergies and bloating symptoms! Always consult your paediatrician! And mommies follow your own gut feeling and instincts no one knows your baby better than you do!

      @Klb7589 6 месяцев назад +1

      the American Academy of Pediatrics, WHO, NIH, the Council for Pediatric Nutrition specialist and Pediatric Occupational Therapists all recommend children start eating when they can sit unassisted with head control. One of the reasons for this is it lowers the risk of choking. Also pediatricians aren't baby diet specialists, they actually know very little about it compared to pediatric dieticians and pediatric occupations therapists. As for Gerber, or course they tell you to start at the earliest chance, they are making money off the earlier start. They also are being sued for heavy metals in their foods.So their suggestions are worthless.

    For those that are BLW (baby lead weaning) baby food such as purees, Peds usally recommend starting when baby starts showing interest in food and have good head and neck control generally that’s around 4 months but solids they can start until 6months and being able to keep head up without support helps to prevent choking but situating up unassisted well you just have to do what works for YOUR baby since every baby is truly different

      isn't it clear?

    • @BombshElle_7
      @BombshElle_7 5 месяцев назад

      @michelleh4717 I would assume that parents put their slouchy babies in a sturdy high chair when feeding them. There's no way a baby will topple over. So, why would they not feed them solids if they can't fall down? That is what I mean by asking for an explanation.

    • @joandsarah77
      @joandsarah77 5 месяцев назад +3

      @@BombshElle_7 It's the baby's core muscles and the possibility of choking. If you try leaning your body or twisting your own head as you eat or drink you will find it harder to swallow. So being straight is a big part of the baby being able to handle the foods. But there is more to it then just being straight but also involves the core muscles in the babies trunk. The second before choking we engaged those muscles to try and prevent the choke. It's nothing we think about doing but a reflex. If we start solids too soon baby does yet have those muscles developed enough to do that.
      This is why baby lean weaning is started at 6 months, as most babies will have developed those core muscles by then.
      How well the baby can sit shows how far developed the core muscles are. Hope that answers your question. :)

    This is for baby-led weaning though. Please specify this in your video. It seems to be for all babies. We've been advised by a nurse that solids are fine if baby is showing interest in foods but not before 4 months. If parents decide to spoon-feed, they don't have to sit-up on their own before starting solids -- it's also because some babies may not even sit up on their own until 8-9 months. The whole point of starting solids is to start teaching baby to eat and help with their iron.

Also before I list them it is 100% safe to feed a nearly 3 month old breast fed baby watermelon blended with any bottle water and strained and served cold it is very good for them I won’t lie I’ve done it twice my son is almost 4 months and even enjoys strawberries served the same way. However snacking on pretzels bread crackers any sort of nuts oatmeal or just oats also consuming chicken and adding a little of garlic. orange juice and almond or oat milk green veggies even blended in a smoothie lots of citrus fruits also to help with their bowels if you only want to breastfeed because they do bowel once sometimes twice a week throughout the day helps A WHOLE LOT. Also skin to skin with baby exercise walking or hard core will help you

    As I understand it, by 6 months of age breast milk alone can't provide babies with all the nutrients that they need anymore.
    So they just need to be fed other foods. You can just use a chair that can be bent back, but not all the way in a sitting position, can't you?

    My son was born hungry. Milk never really filled him up. Started putting cereal in his milk at two weeks and he was eating pureed food at 2 1/2 months. My grandma told us to start adding the cereal because his cries sounded hungry. I don't care what doctor says, that baby is still hungry., she said one day. It worked too because he stopped crying so much. If i had waited till doctor said, he would have starved or cried forever i guess.

      There's this solution that scientists found to save babies and spent decades and decades refining it, put all the nutrients, vitamins, iron, zinc, magnesium, calcium, all you find in food in there, and sell it at supermarkets.
      It's called formula. It has wayyyy more nutrients than cereal and babies can digest it.
      It even comes with a lighter version for colicky babies.

    • @MoXenArtCreations
      @MoXenArtCreations 7 месяцев назад

      @amy010276 They can perfectly digest cereals even fresh out of the womb... it's the risk for choking and inhaling thickened liquids in their lungs that's the concern.
      It's pretty reckless given their stomach struggle to hold onto even milk at that age.
      But aside from immediate risks, there's no long term effect associated with feeding baby food early. Well... as long as they don't choke on it that is.

    My daughter is 8 months and still doesnt sit up on her own but she will walk in the walker. I started pureed baby food at 6 months old and she loves the Beechnut baby foods. I will start solids when her two bottom teeth are completely out. To help with her teething I also give her frozen fruit in a silicone feeder. It's all about trial and error when finding what works for your baby.

      This is usually not typical, so I would recommend talking to your pediatrician for a possible referral to a pediatric PT or feeding therapist for an evaluation. At the very least it could give you some peace of mind or give you ideas on how you can do it safely 💕

      Just remember all babies develop at their own pace my friend was also worried because her 8 month old could not sit on his own but by the end of the 8th month he got it. He is a perfect happy and healthy baby. Don’t let people scare you. Talk to your pediatrician about when to start solids. Many start at 4 months when their babies still aren’t able to sit unassisted.

      BLW is mostly finger foods. Babies grasp, handle and swallow those better once they have more core strength. Sitting up shows they have this.

    I still dont understand why mothers purposefully 🤱 their daughters longer and make bigger effort to do so. When a mother does 🤱 her son she quicky weans him off it as fast as possible. Its like mothers milk is bad for boys or something. Stange 😢.

    If your not allergic or also if you enjoy these snacks and foods you should try them I started producing my breast milk slowly as well and it is easy to look for these tips online but I would love to give fellow new momys some advice. Also skin to skin with baby exercise walking or hard core will help you
    P.S… to all the momys hoping to be momys and momys to be, you got this! Please I can not judge others ever I am not the Lord but PLEASEE conside strictly breastfeeding, even though I am 100% sober and was my entire pregnancy, my ob doc swore to me to NEVER STOP BREASTFEEDING no matter if I became an alcohol or crack addict, our immune systems are stronger than we may ever understand, antibodies with automatically produce pure milk for baby. Please you all be mindful because if animals and human lived in a joint society when they lived like we do talked worked etc. .. Do you really think they’d go in the store and buy container milk? It just doesn’t sit right with me. I am not judgeEEEY just really hope we could all do better for the next generation. God bless you all🙏🏾 Pregnancy is precious and most of us have a hard one but please stay strong content and look forward to having someone who will never stop loving you. I thank God in the name of Jesus Christ for choosing the mothers soon to be mothers and fathers to nurture his children.I plead to our heavenly father oh make the generations to come growth be beautiful and god fearing! Amen🙏🏾
