Emma, I am currently in hospital with my 4 month baby waiting for a liver transplant. His belly is very distended as is normal for his condition. It can get in the way of achieving milestones. He was evaluated by the OT and physiotherapist and they were shocked with how well he could do tummy time. Now we are working on sitting and he’s doing really well with that too. I really want to thank you. Following your advice got us working on these skills early before the ascites could stop him. So now despite it, he is still meeting milestones. He just can no longer roll over. Thank you so much for helping us get ahead of the problem and keeping him enriched.
I have been following you and working on my lil munchkin to help him sit. As ever since he learnt to hold his head up, he refuses to lie down and wants to stand all the time. He even tries to walk, obviously with support. But wanted to teach him to sit before standing and walking. Today he is 5 months and 7 days, and he sat on his own for the first time.😍
If your baby sits, great. If not, great. Babies do what babies want, BUT as doctors will tell you, there is 100% NOTHING WRONG with just helping them figure it out and doing cute little exercises for them to understand a little better❤️😊mother love! Please love and respect eachother, here, as we’re all moms just doing our best💕
OMG EMMA! We have been doing all your exercises since birth and all my baby’s milestones were achieved very early. A few hours ago, he surprised us by transitioning from being on all fours to sitting on his own. I was very shocked. He just turned 5 months 🥰 I had to capture it on video or no one would believe me.
My baby is 5 months old and we’ve been using your videos as guides for us since she was little, obviously she isn’t the best sitter or walker or crawler right now (she’s only 5 months old lol) BUT it had improved her confidence in doing it on her own😊❤️thank you, mama!
Oh my God. I am big mad. My kiddo is has been planking and is starting to army crawl, but he skipped sitting up on his own. Everything I've seen has said to pull baby up from laying down. Thank you so much for setting the record straight.
Emma you are the best. I'm learning so much from you. My little baby Mateo is 6 months young and we have been watching you everyday for the past 4 months. Thank you for saving us from buying unnecessary equipment's and including a proper way of our exercises. Big hug
Wow !!! Thank you so much for the tips ! My first baby sat on his own at 5 months never had any issues , but now with my second it has been difficult , am doing the sitting on the floor as watching this video and it is helping already ! Thank you !
This was exactly what I needed! My baby is 7.5 months now and can sit with support but we are still working on training those muscles to work towards independence. This was so helpful. Thank you!
@@sanawasif2864 your little one will get there! A year later, I can safely say that my little girl can now sit well :). It took some guided practice but we got there! Just keep up with the practices recommended in this video and keep your pediatrician informed if you have any concerns.
Thank god for you i was watching other videos and they me feel like I was a worthless mom and I wasn’t doing enough I’m glad I watched this so I know I’m doing the right things
I've heard for the past 2 months that my baby should be sitting on his own, from my mother inlaw.. my baby only just turned 6 months the other day lol it's tough out here hahah
@@mysta4478 my baby just turned 6 months about 2 weeks ago and I swear everywhere I turn there's criticism telling me I'm doing everything wrong. With how hard we're working and the love we have we can only do our best for them.
Thank you for this! Our 6 month old wasn’t sitting independently and his big brothers both naturally came into it by now. I didn’t even realize it at the time, but I was spending time doing these tips without even knowing it. Now, I can be purposeful with this kiddo!
Sitting them up seems to be a cultural Thing. I was told repetedly from pediatricians, midwives, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, nurses... Not to sit them up at all, they will do that on their own if their muscles are strong enough. Same with walking btw. Some said that sitting them up early slows the gros Motor develompment and increases the risk of not crawling. There is a huge emphasis on crawling here.
:/ idk. I took some calcium pills during my pregnancy. No one told me to stop taking them. Now my baby's the female hulk. Ok, she's not. But I'm pretty sure she'd cry if I was doing something wrong. And she can hit some mariah carey notes too. 😑 I feel like the medical field would charge 2-300 just for even weighing your baby. & thats the whole entire pediatric visit,,,,, so, honestly I think some things should be taken w/ a grain of salt. They say swaddling is great too. But I'd like to keep my baby's awareness & alertness in tact thx.
@ahhwe-any7434 actually swaddling is great before they can roll (shouldn't do it after they can, suffocation risk). It teaches body temp regulation and self soothing. Once they begin to move around on their own, and can roll from back to front, you don't swaddle anymore. And you don't swaddle excessively
Thank you to your channel.. I’m a first time mom and it can get overwhelming with all the infos and videos in the internet. Your channel makes it easier for me😊
mine showed signs of trying at around 3 months however now shes almost 6 months and cant sit unaided so theres no telling tbh. I was sure she would get sitting early but I. was wrong lol!
Thanks for the video Emma, always very useful exercises and tips. My son is just 3 months old but he really wants to sit and gets frustrated because he can't do it on his own yet. He really likes being supported only at the hips and trying to balance himself between my legs so far
Hi Emma, you mentioned not to pull babies up with their hands, from lying position to sitting position. However alot of established websites mentioned that it's okay. Please help to clarify what is the stance on this? Thanks!
I didn't know that you need to teach your baby how to sit. This comes naturally in my opinion ( and experience as I have two children). But every day we learn something new I guess.
I didn’t know either. My 7 month old is strong and has been holding his own weight while standing since he was 2 months- he did this on his own by getting mad lol. But he doesn’t sit unassisted, he doesn’t even like to sit with assistance unless he’s eating. These videos have me so nervous I feel like I need to make an appointment with a physical therapist. Btw I’m a first time mom
My daughter is now 5 months old and everytime I lay her on her back, she directly rolls and does tummy time, is that okay? Or should we spend more time on the back? Also thank you so much for these videos, you’ve been helping me with every milestone, I’ve been sharing your page to all my new mom friends! Much love and support ❤️ thank you for being there for us!
My daughter is 3 months and doing the same thing. She just figured out all rolling, initially from front to back but now every time we place her on her back she rolls to her tummy! But once there she yells because she wants something out of reach lol. How did you cope?
@@EmmaHubbard Just curious about baby moonwalker if it's safe to use? I have one given to me as a gift. Tried to look into your videos but you haven't made a video about it, maybe it's nice to cover it too. Just a suggestion cheers to you! 🥰
Loveee loveeee your videos please make one about teaching a baby to get into the sitting position from laying down. I feel like my little guy it trying so hard but doesn’t understand how to use his arms or move into a more advantageous position to make it happen he’s just stuck trying to do a crunch with his elbow trying to help himself and when I have tried to guide him a bit more his just seems more frustrated so I feel like I’m not guiding him correctly for him to understand oh this how I can do it
I'm a bit confused by this video. I'm in Europe and here I read everywhere that it is strongly discouraged to sit a baby, including propping them up with cushions, unless they can sit themselves freely. This means, when their brain center for coordinating this movement and necessary muscles have developed. If sat up too early, articles, experts and moms in forums write that the spine may be damaged and they may develop a "sitting hunch/hump". any sitting activity should not start before 6-8 months of age..totally confused :/
I thought this also, I was told to sit my 4month old as often as possible but he looks so uncomfortable and slouched :/ sometimes I feel like I’m going crazy with mix advice
Depends on development. My daughter started to attempt sitting at 4 and a half months and now she sits comfortably with minimal support but doesn't crawl. Sheis just short of 6 months. My god daughter sat independently and crawled reliably at 7 months. Compare that to my adopted niece whom is unable to sit without ample support at 7 months. Genetics? Routine? All babies are different because all humans are different

My baby just turned 4 months and she’s really strong. All she wants to do is sit up and she’s doing all of this but isn’t it bad being that she’s still so young? Even when I lay her down on her back she tries to sit up. It looks like she’s doing crunches by how determined she is to sit up 🤣
My baby is 15 weeks by now and doing the same, he even tries to pull himself up when he grabs toys under his play arc 🥲 since he's 7 1/2 kilos, the poor play arc has a hard time 😂

Western parenting is very stressful. I did not teach my first to sit, and don't plan to with my second. My mother finds sleep training horrendous as it wasn't in the culture yet she expects LO to sleep through the night soon ( we're at 3 mos). She says it happens when you relax and have enough milk. Some of these tutorials. I'm praying for you moms in the West. Take it easy.
It's really sad. Babies are tortured by parents who are misinformed about what is normal for sleep. Babies are forced into physical positions they aren't meant to be in because of people's obsession with their "progress"... It's very sad 😭

@@iamamoth Bravo. It isn't. You want to tell parenting styles where the mother has no leave, is so stressed, "SIDS" - something unknown in many parts of the world - is common and a new mom has to go online with no support, post-paturm depression is high, the cost of child birth is insane and maternal mortality rates are still high ( USA here)... You want to tell me that parenting is based on science and not an industry and sells useless and pretty much archaic information to mothers of human babies? If you really knew "science" you would know two of the least "researched" and tested groups are pregnant women and babies precisely because of ethics surrounding testing on these subjects. And the sleep community is NOT science. Sleep aids that kill babies- not science. Contraptions that are expensive to keep babies occupied so a new mom can do it all alone with no community support and in the most backward states, less than 2 weeks maternity leave... Do you know how many children die of SIDs outside America? In many parts of the world it's not a thing. You know how many women outside the west have PPD? How long maternity leave and how much better it is outside US? "Science" yourself. Research on babies, pregnancy and parenting is based on self-reported data. Pick up an article or two on the most recent debate, COVID-19 vaccines and you'll see precisely how we're at the point where pregnant women can get the vaccine and how under researched this group is. I'm happy to say, in my community, country and paediatric system the views of doulas, mothers and women as primary caregivers are taken seriously and even included in the new parent packs you take home after birth. Take time to read about revisions in the of psychiatry and ethics of clinical trials. Understand why we have sociology - and how data is collected. Look at parenting our the world - these are humans, not robots and you'll understand why parenting and children aren't things to be fixed or controlled. If this is what you think, you need to seriously consider your options as a parent. You know which communities have had baby and mother massage therapies for centuries? African and Asian. Empirical and learned evidence is information- it doesn't have to fit into your lens to count as data.and just becuase your community discovers something today and a scientist or researcher writes something about it, doesn't make it new. Likewise, a two man team can't make up.something and force a whole people with experience to do it. Nope dear, this is the 21st century. So many evil things have been done in the name of "science" including Nazi Germany, the beginnings of gynaecology and the baby trials. Western science has led to many errors, including Ferber and the baby terror trials. Take several seats before you come at me with what is most likely inverted misogyny and a mind that has never travelled out of state, nor will ever think beyond your confines. I have a few intelligent American friends, but would be very ironic if you were American with all the problems new mothers and babies have, including the cost of healthcare making assumptions and taking about "science." SMH. Parenting does not have to drive parents insane and lead to traumatised children. Nope. Not today Karen.
Hi, could you please explain what an occupational therapist is? What kind of accreditation and/or schooling do you need? I tried to look it up but my "Google research" only showed definitions for work related injuries and issues.
From a Google search for paediatric occupational therapist: Occupational therapists working in paediatrics: Help children achieve their developmental milestones such as fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to help with play, school or independent skills (e.g. throwing a ball, getting dressed, holding a pen or utensil). In Australia, it's typically a four year degree at university then additional training is likely undertaken to specialise in paediatrics. Hope that helps anyone else who may be wondering the same thing. 😊

You are so welcome! I wouldn't worry if your little one wants to do planks and is more interested in crawling. Once they can crawl they will transition into sitting to play with toys as well. So she will master this milestones with time.
Please do a video on how to teach a baby how to actually drink from a sippy cup and learn how to suck from a straw as the pediatricians recommend. Thanks!! Love your channel
Hey @Pri USA great video idea. I will try to do this soon. I do find bottles that have a straw which has a weight on the end the best for babies. These tend to have handles on the side too. The benefit of the weight on the end of the straw (the part in the water) is that it ensures the little one is always able to suck water up no matter how they are holding/tipping the bottle.
I’ve been getting my 4.5 month old to practice his rolling over. Should I wait until he’s “perfected” this skill before getting him to practice his sitting? I’ve been switching between for variety
Hello Emma. In Czech republic general reccomendations of pediatricians and physiotherapists are NEVER to teach children to sit up with help. They should sit up without any help when they are ready. It is said that premature sitting can badly influence development of spinal muscles and spine, because of non-physiological pressure which heavy head puts on spine, which isn´t fully developed and stabilized. According to what is said, premature sitting up can make child skip crawling and lead to more frequent occurrence of back pain in adulthood. What do you think about this?
Is it okay if they lean forward while practicing sitting in the Bobby and playing with a toy on floor in front of them or is this bad for their back? I just always get worried about my son’s back when he does this and wasn’t sure if he still needed more support or if this was okay.
Hi Emma, What is the age I can start my baby to be start him in sitting position. He is 4 and a half month old. I am thinking to start him to put in a sitting position, but people say its too early.
Hi Emma, Do you have an scheme of when to start with, for example, lying on the stomach, sitting down, grabbing things. You only have a scheme of when what to achieve at what age. Do you have a scheme of when, what to start learning and how?
Hi @Hanane Hatimi it sounds like you are referring to developmental milestones - so the age babies are when they typically achieve fine motor and gross motor milestones. I have a video on 3, 4 and 6 month developmental milestones that you might find helpful. Is that the information you are after? You can start tummy time (lying on their stomach) straight away so when you get home from hospital if there are no medical complications and your baby way born full term. Supported sitting (where you are holding them at their trunk to support them) can start when they have good head control so this is usually around 4 months of age. Babies start to grab toys with their whole hand at 3/4 months. They can only hold it very briefly at first and then they drop it.
My babby is 4 and a half months old and also been sitting for about a second or more without support se also push her self up to stand but she isn't rolling from tummy to back but can roll from back to side and from side to back
Thank you for the video... please advise me my baby is turning 7months not sitting. Has finished rickets medication... have been told to look for occupational therapist. Thank you

I have a question, should they learn to roll first before trying to sit. She doesn't roll on her own yet We've been practicing like it shows in the other (Emma's) video but shes already doing crunches like if she wants to sit up. My little one is 4Ms
Amazing tips! Thank you very much Emma, you help em to boost my confidence ( as I am a first time mom so I'm quite not sure waht I'm doing :)). My little boy is 6 months now and he does not roll over yet even though he got signs of rolling over already, should I concern?
Hi! So glad these videos are boosting your confidence. I am sure you are doing an amazing job raising your little one! In regards to rolling over I wouldn't be concerned as this is a skill bubs can up to 7 months. It's good to hear your little one has signs that he is getting close. He will get it with time. Just continue to give him time playing lying on the floor and help him roll over every time he needs to. So instead of just putting him on his tummy or putting him on his back, help him complete this movement.
@@EmmaHubbard Hi Emma, he rolled over!!! Yay! I followed your instruction and it helped a lot. Thank you again for your helpful tips. Now I'm training him how to sit up properly.
I know it matters whether a baby can get into sitting position by himself but does it matter how a baby get into sitting position by himself? For example some babies going from lying on tummy to sitting, some going from lying on side to sitting.
My daughter is 3 months at the moment, at 2.5 months she's been wanting to sit up on our laps and tries to when leaned back in our arms. 😮 She's only ever rolled onto her side once. I just want her to slow down at this point cause she wants to hit certain milestones early. 😢
My baby is 8 weeks. She does not have full head control as in her head being 100% still and stable, but she can hold it up just fine with some jerky movements and look around. We are also practicing sitting every wake window. She loves to just sit with my support around her ribcage, and just look around at stuff. Some people are saying she should not be able to do this at 8 weeks, and that its due to her having tension in her muscles and not actual muscle strength? I can feel her activating her muscles and she is sitting more upright than curved, as in i can feel her muscles when she straightens her back to sit upright. If it really is muscle tensions am i then hurting her by continuing?
You should consult a pediatrician physiotherapist. They should be able to check her muscles and if there is any tension in her muscles. It's true that skipping milestones can sometimes lead to little issues. My husband for example skipped crawling and he admits to being quite bad with coordination. You might have a super baby with lots of strength too😅
@@Mimi_moon Her "progression" has slowed down, and i think she's on par with other babies on her age now. For some reason she was just very interested in tummy time and looking at stuff very early on 🤣
OK, I rarely comment on anything but I have to now. The best way to help your baby do anything is to not help them at all. Except early tummy time. Sitting is the peak of baby's development during the first year of life and caretakers should never make babies sit upright (or independently) before they are ready. Babies need to go through several crucial stages before they can sit by themselves - after they learn how to support their weight on their elbows and later on their stretched arms, they start to crawl (use their arms to push forward and drag their legs behind their bodies), then toddle and AFTER they learn to sit sideways, they would be able to sit upright. You don't help your baby by practicing sitting. What you can cause by it is possible damage to their spine due to the pressure they are not ready to handle yet. Help them enjoy tummy time and let them be. Please. There is plenty of literature on this topic.
I would just like to say that as a physiotherapist this video is correct. Emma explains how to assist your baby in sitting when they are READY and over 4 months of age. Around this age babies do have good head control, can place some weight through their upper body and have started to develop some trunk control. Emma explains certain hand positionings and supports that can be used to allow for better core/trunk activation and to support the babies spine. Emma also goes on at the end of the video the importance of tummy time and playing on their back for trunk/core development. So I am not sure if you have watched the video in its entirety. This is great advice Emma. Keep the amazing and informative videos coming.
@@meghancooley9306 Unfortunatelly, I can't link any resource in English as all the studies I have read were done by specialists in my country (Czech Republic) and have never been translated. But their research have proven that premature sitting of babies, even with support of any kind, is directly linked to back pains later in life. Several resources pointed out that some books that were traslated from English (mostly US authors, I understood) recommended such techiques as those shown in the video, and that it may be harmful. My son (4 months old) is in physiotherapy due to extensive back arching when placed on tummy, so I discussed plenty of right and wrong baby handling with doctors, our physiotherapist, as well as read tons of material online. I did not want to be mean or arogant and am sorry if my comment sounds bad.
@@0o0eM this is the common belief in former ussr countries. Isn’t this strange tho? That those studies are not available in English and literally all other medical resources are. I don’t know which is better I’m trying to practice intuitive parenting and sometimes do hold baby in upright position on my laps even tho here the narrative is the same as in your country. What weirds me out is that they often recommended starting solids from as early as 4 months old (against who recommendations) and without any sitting practice it seems to me like quite a risky endeavor
@@Vasilisapo As far as I know, those studies and research were conducted before 1989 when English was not really used here for political reasons. That may explain why, even though CZ has never been part of USSR. I am no doctor but during my research and consulting with specialists I came across more issues which are not considered problematic in "the west" while here are commonly treated (like that arching of our son). If there is a possibility that some unnecessary activity may cause harm to your child, why risk it? As for the solid food - I am not aware of this. Children as young as 4 months old may start eating finely mixed vegetable or milk slurry (similar to baby formula, only thicker and flavoured). As long as the baby's back rests on a stable surface so that their spine is not under vertical pressure, it is safe and they can be fed quite easily.
@@Vasilisapo WOW. Your comment actually blew my mind, hadn't looked at it from a cultural perspective. I'm from Latvia and the general "mood" here is to let babies develop at their own rate and not to interfere with that. It is a lovely notion though and for the most part I agree. Loads of parents proudly announce that they didn't do any tummy time and even some doctors advise against it as babies should never be put in a position that they themselves are not able to get into. My baby rolled from stomach to back first (as we were doing tummy time from birth and for the most part she hated it) at 4.8 months but didn't roll back to stomach until after 5.5 months. We went to a physiotherapist at 5m 10 days, she said that our baby's developing the other way around and she should have already learnt to roll to stomach and that rolling to back doesn't happen until much later if it happens at all. Obviously 😆 I spent days researching the topic and yes! It is agreed that in post USSR and China babies roll to tummy first, babies in USA, India, France roll to back, but babies in the UK, Denmark and Norway are undecided 😂.

At what age do you recommend we start these? My baby has great head control but is only 10 weeks and obviously isn't very strong yet overall. Should we wait until 4 months?
Hi @Maria Daniels and @Em Princesa1818 I would recommend waiting until 4 months of age. At 10 weeks I would focus your energy on tummy time. Over time you will notice you slowly reduce the head support you are providing your baby when you hold them in your arms because they no longer need it. This will all help in developing the muscles required to sit.

Argh... I gave this video a thumbs down by mistake. It isn't the first. Good thing I noticed and removed it. You're awesome! Thanks for the wonderfully organised and to the point advice. Love that it has no unnecessary fluff.
I hope the transplantation is successfully done and your little one is on the mend 🤍

Recovery was rough, collapsed lung. But it feels like a lifetime ago. He is doing beautifully.
I’m so glad he’s doing ok! ❤
God bless your baby
I have been following you and working on my lil munchkin to help him sit. As ever since he learnt to hold his head up, he refuses to lie down and wants to stand all the time. He even tries to walk, obviously with support. But wanted to teach him to sit before standing and walking. Today he is 5 months and 7 days, and he sat on his own for the first time.😍
That’s awesome!
If your baby sits, great. If not, great. Babies do what babies want, BUT as doctors will tell you, there is 100% NOTHING WRONG with just helping them figure it out and doing cute little exercises for them to understand a little better❤️😊mother love!
Thanks for sharing!
@@EmmaHubbard Most babies I know crawl around 8-9 month and sit up at 9-10. Its so interessting how different the upbringing of children are
What about sitting them up for solids? Some babies sits up later but supposed to start solids at 7 months.

Your teaching for baby's is so helpful. I'm a first time Nana. I watch your videos and they are all very helpful. Thank you for all you do.

I am wondering is what your opinion on bumbo seats to help sitting?
I'm a bit confused by this video. I'm in Europe and here I read everywhere that it is strongly discouraged to sit a baby, including propping them up with cushions, unless they can sit themselves freely. This means, when their brain center for coordinating this movement and necessary muscles have developed. If sat up too early, articles, experts and moms in forums write that the spine may be damaged and they may develop a "sitting hunch/hump". any sitting activity should not start before 6-8 months of age..totally confused :/
I suppose only do it if baby is trying to sit up. Mine keeps lurching forwards to try to sit, so I help him. Maybe don’t do it except short bursts
@@vanjaskoric7494 it's always fn mixed advice. ALWAYS! ALWAYS count on that ish. It's like 🤔 *well actually she's not in a upright position. More like pillows things that at most, she'll use her neck for. If not, she's "sitting" on my tummy w/ Support & she is fr Content. It's like 1 of the few things that actually calms her. ..
@@bernardettea9046 Does that baby look tortured? Or does it look like it is having fun while doing something useful for its body? I feel sorry for you guys who don't work with your babies at all. What do you do? Just let them lay there all day and hope for the best?
Western parenting is based on science and research. What is your parenting based on? Your mother's opinion?
Western parenting is based on science and research. What is your parenting based on? Your mother's opinion?
Nope. Not today Karen.
awhhh that baby was having a good time for the whole video what a CUTIE
Hi, could you please explain what an occupational therapist is? What kind of accreditation and/or schooling do you need? I tried to look it up but my "Google research" only showed definitions for work related injuries and issues.
From a Google search for paediatric occupational therapist:
Occupational therapists working in paediatrics: Help children achieve their developmental milestones such as fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to help with play, school or independent skills (e.g. throwing a ball, getting dressed, holding a pen or utensil).
In Australia, it's typically a four year degree at university then additional training is likely undertaken to specialise in paediatrics.
Hope that helps anyone else who may be wondering the same thing. 😊

@@wonderland1911 RIE would say that kids (developmentally normal children) will develop and achieve physical milestones in their own time if given the freedom to explore. Thus, some kids like mine may hit movement "milestones" faster but this is not necessarily good or desirable for every child.

It’s the same guidance in Estonia.
Is it okay if they lean forward while practicing sitting in the Bobby and playing with a toy on floor in front of them or is this bad for their back? I just always get worried about my son’s back when he does this and wasn’t sure if he still needed more support or if this was okay.
How did you know I was just thinking about this🤩🤩

Simply the Best ❤️
Hi Emma, What is the age I can start my baby to be start him in sitting position. He is 4 and a half month old. I am thinking to start him to put in a sitting position, but people say its too early.
Hi Emma,
Do you have an scheme of when to start with, for example, lying on the stomach, sitting down, grabbing things. You only have a scheme of when what to achieve at what age. Do you have a scheme of when, what to start learning and how?
Do you mean developmental milestones?

In regards to rolling over I wouldn't be concerned as this is a skill bubs can up to 7 months. It's good to hear your little one has signs that he is getting close. He will get it with time.
For some reason she was just very interested in tummy time and looking at stuff very early on 🤣
I love this video..
I appreciate your time
It's my pleasure
Thank you for sharing
My pleasure! Thanks for watching
My three months baby neck av not stable well although she premature what should I be doing
I found this very informative and helpful channel for independent sitting see I this this could be helpful for you ruclips.net/p/PLU51qyn8eLloXVew8Zg16kXJJAQyQ7irF
At what age do you recommend we start these? My baby has great head control but is only 10 weeks and obviously isn't very strong yet overall. Should we wait until 4 months?
I was just going to ask the same ! :)
Thank you for this video! When should they be putting themselves into sitting position on their own completely? No help from us from floor to sitting

Thank you Emma! One of the most helpful channels for babies I have found online. Big fan of your videos 😊
Emma, my son doesn't like to lie down but tries to sit up raising his head at 4 months. His head is not steady yet. Does it pose problems to his spine, since it's too early?
my baby is the same 4months.... + even while sitting down trays to sit higher or better.
@@azulito2079 so, I heard from my doctor to support him so that he doesn't put whole weight on his legs. May be let him stand for 5-10 min, only in case he stands by himself.
Very informative and concise!
Thanks!

Dear Emma!
I took my baby to chiro for check up and my chiro said don't train or try to make baby sit up cuz it may affects their spine. Those activities make me wonder will it good for baby?
How old is your little one? I have wondered about my baby's spine too when practicing sitting
I tried doing these activities with my 6 month old son, but he resists the sitting position. He arches his back and tries to stand up instead of sitting down. Or he wants to lie down on his back. Any tips to how I can manage this?
My baby boy is 8 and half months old and he his not sitting up independently yet. He doesn't like tummy time at all, he will always cry when on his tummy. But..... I will put him on his tummy for a couple of minutes, he will lift his head and shoulders up. We are practicing sitting up but he hasn't got there just yet.
Hey, how’s your baby now ? Hope he’s doing great ..when did he start sitting..my baby is also 9 months (adjusted ) and still not willing to sit on his own
He also hates tummy time and just want to lay on his back all the time
Great video!!
at what age babies comes in sitting position from lying down ....plzzz reply
In addition to all these, i have observed sit me up chairs also helps build that confidence and muscles in babies.
Many thanks to you Emma!
You are welcome!!
My baby started sitting and rolling over at 3months. She is now trying to crawl. She always attempt to go on sitting position when we put her to lie down on her back...she will be 4months next week
Wow that is impressive! Super exciting.
Please I want to know if I should do that on my 6 weeks old baby?
6 weeks is pretty early, most babies can't even hold their head up at 6 weeks, try these exercises closer to 6 months
Very informatitive.
Glad it was helpful Penny 🙂
Argh... I gave this video a thumbs down by mistake. It isn't the first. Good thing I noticed and removed it. You're awesome! Thanks for the wonderfully organised and to the point advice. Love that it has no unnecessary fluff.
No worries!
