You are correct. But a professional painter with 20 brushes may keep this a a spare for oil or alcohol paints. It is however perfect for the home owner who would buy anything
Very true but you make those heads come off with a button press. Have all those heads mounted in a special clip the can attach to a paint tray and a can. Then you have a product.
Not really. For someone who is doing professional painting, they can easily buy multiple handles for how many brushes they need to use at the same time. Its a one time investment
Peter is just wrong because he's rich and does nothing himself. I do construction and I have a compact drill, 2 impact drivers, 3 regular sized drills, a right angle drill and a half inch chuck drill meant for boring bits. Its something like $2500 total. Its cheaper for me time-wise to buy an extra $200 driver if I have to constantly go between a cross-tip driver bit and a square-tip driver bit. No one who was DIY'ing on a budget would buy that many tools. That's why you have quick-change bits that kinda suck but do the job.
This is like selling shoelaces that you can use with all your shoes, and claiming that you’re saving money, because you don’t need separate shoelaces for all your shoes. True, but the shoelaces are not the expensive part of the shoes. So in return for saving these 50 p., you have to rethread your shoes every time you change them. And in their product, even the 50 p. saving is questionable at best, since the head has to be more expensive when they add the mounting mechanism. I am amazed any dragon even considered it.
Quite a good analogy, I’m not a decorator and rarely do DIY, so initially I thought it seemed like an ok idea, but putting it that way it definitely sounds far fetched and inconvenient.
I've done construction for almost 30 years now. This might work for weekend warriors or the DIY type, but this would never last in a professional construction setting. Main issues being durability, wasted time changing heads, and even more cleanup.
not sure it’s much good for the DIY market either though tbh…if the different heads snapped on and off with the press of a button and was near instant then possibly it would have a chance but the unscrewing is just annoying, inconvenient and time-wasting not to mention that most scraper/brush heads would have paint or plaster etc on them which would likely get all over your hands. Just seems to be fixing a problem that no-one has and more trouble than it’s worth 🤷♀️
I also feel that the diameter of each holder is different for each size of brush, so much so that the professional painters who were earlier trained and accustomed to the joint handle-brush setup won't see a point to resort to these separate handle and brush head. DIY enthusiasts would want to emulate the perfection of professional painters, and hence they won't want the separate handle and brush head either
This isn't really a problem is it? Peters right. People, especially professionals, won't want to faff about unscrewing and replacing the brush heads. You just have all the brush sizes ready
Their "temporarily inconvenienced millionaire" problem. You can see the thought process at work for a lot of people on DD. They don't have a lot of skill or imagination so they try to reinvent the wheel to make themselves their fortune rather than deliver a quality or new product.
You can almost see the brainstorming "Ok, what's popular what makes a lot of money? Kids? Hipster junk...oh DIY yeah. Lot of people doing DIY these days I mean look at all the shows on telly. OK what can we make in DIY to make us money? Hmmmmm."
Not true in this case though. In theory it's a good idea, but Deborah and Peter highlighted the problems-- People. Tradespeople would find swapping heads a faff, and the average DIYer would just buy something cheaper, or even still just throw this away.
For a painting job which requires multiple brushes, buy multiple handles.Switching heads while doing a job isnt feasible and therefeore shouldnt be their selling point however the multiple handles u have purchased can be used for your next job. This idea would work if their handles were cost effective and if the bristles were a quality product
Good grief.. DIY? What's that.. that's people reluctantly deciding on repainting their living room every 6 or 7 years.., or maybe the exterior every 5 years. Who cares about the cost of brushes? The costs is in labour and paint. Sweet baby Jesus, this is the most ridiculous product ever pitched. Right up there with that tire cleaning contraption, the flow sign madness and Hilary's choice of wardrobe.
No one wants to be fiddling about when doing DIY. There’s enough to think about. So it’s a bad idea. Then when we hear about their business acumen….shocking lol.
The reason why the bosses of company where they sell are not contesting them selling this product is because they know people won't want to change brush heads all the time. Very bad idea
I have to disagree on something Deborah said. She said you do the job and throw away the tools. Unless a tool breaks, I never throw one away. What planet is she from ?
Unfortunately, I've seen the casual homeowner just fixing one spot or painting one room just chuck it afterwards and buy new ones for a couple bucks a year or a few years later. A tradesman doesn't, but DIYers that wind up doing it one time do toss "cheap" items they are no longer enthusiastic to use.
Planet earth. She's talking about paint brushes. Every DIYer buys the cheapest paint brush available and turfs it after use. Nobody stores a $1 paint brush in turps to use again.
Personally, I'm wondering what tf everyone's smoking making comments about what a disastrous idea it is to spin a wet brush head to change it mid project, blah blah blah. My first thought was oh I could see that, grab the brush with some painter's plastic while twisting the handle out. Not exactly the fuss everyone seems to be making it out to be. Now that being said, I don't expect itd be a viable undertaking to produce and sell this product and have to tackle marketing it while also teaching people how to use it.
This is awful... anywork I do i get disposable brushes because I know sooner or later the paint will jam up the product; also changing the heads could have been simpler, but this an idea for a problem that doesn't exist.
What hapens when the laws hinders retailers and productioncompanies sellig environmentaly damaging products? Its of course politics, but many products we see on the market should not be allowed to be put on the market to consumers when there are similar products that are much more sustaineble.
Ha ! I watch Dragon Den often. I watch at different time so shepherds pie for dinner ;) hmm the paint brush concept sounded good if it is a quick change from brush to brush … might have some market …
Peter is absolutely right quality brushes cost real money and no professional painter would use that product.
This type of brush in the industry is what we call a one time throw away or a dust brush before our real brushes get used.
You are correct.
But a professional painter with 20 brushes may keep this a a spare for oil or alcohol paints. It is however perfect for the home owner who would buy anything
Peter is 100% correct. It would be a pain to change the heads

It would take Mrs P forever to change them

Not a good analogy. Shoe laces last year's for most shoes. A painter changes brushes multiple times within an hour depending on what they're painting.

Plus you’d have to wash all the paint off before you switched the head.
