You make jokes, but my backyard birds will do this to my kitchen window if I don't take their feeder outside in a timely manner.
I have a bird feeder right outside my bedroom window... They've woken me up with their ceaseless knocking several times, demanding a refill. 😂

It probably sees it's reflection. I've had birds perch on my car door and peck at the side mirrors for hours at a time.
There's a blue light, it was attracted to the light and wanted to check it out.

Fun fact: Some lithium batteries emit a smell not unlike beetle larvae, which is why bears will sometimes rip trail cameras off trees and destroy them, thinking there's food in there. The woodpecker likely thought the same.

Well, woodpeckers like all passerine birds can't smell, Woodpeckers are acoustic hunters, meaning they hunt by sound, could be that the doorbell is emitting ultrasonic sounds that sound like insect larva.
Now, onto your bear comment, I know that the reason bears often break into cars (particularly older cars) and rip up/eat the lining of the car doors/roof/seats is because they give off a smell similar to formic acid, which is what ants produce. Idk if trail cameras have foam in them, but it would be for the same reason.

Sounds plausible until you realize woodpeckers aren't bears. But I had an interesting encounter with mold that smelled like cat urine. My cats must have thought I had lost my mind accusing them of pissing anywhere other than in an appropriate receptacle.

@@brennanarmacost1762 That blue light around the button only comes on when the button is pressed or if the owner enters live view. Otherwise, it very much appears to not be operating. No light, no sound audible to humans, nothing.
