Federal Thunderbolt 1000 (Blower Reverse Wired) Tornado Siren Test, Alert - Memphis, TN

- Опубликовано: 10 сен 2024
- Recorded on Wednesday, May 12th, 2021. This is a weekly tornado siren test of the Memphis/Shelby County Tornado Siren System. This siren is tested every Wednesday at 3:30 PM CT. This siren started dead on time. This siren is a 3 phase model (Thunderbolt 1000A). This siren is a 1955 Federal Enterprises Thunderbolt 1000A (I assume it's set on chopper 5) A1-series with 6M blower wired backwards. This is my first time recording a Memphis siren test and recording a blower reverse wired Thunderbolt. This siren is still loud and punchy. I waited about 8 years to record a siren in Memphis and finally did!! I didn't travel all the way to Memphis just to record this siren. Long story. But while heading to Memphis. I had to take an hour detour to avoid completely blocked traffic on the interstate in west Memphis, TN. And I arrived at this siren 18 minutes before the test (left an hour early because of possible bad traffic). Sorry about the shaky video, it was very windy. I tried my best to keep the video still from tighten tripod and tripod was not fully extended. I did use a custom windproof screen for the reduction of wind noise and worked great. This siren is located at 5151 Scottsdale Ave, Memphis, TN 38118.

This is my favorite siren by far!! Had one about 2 miles from my house growing up in the Midwest and spring rainy days brought it’s wail! I love it’s boxy design and it’s tone!
Hello dude
Wow amazing never seen a bolt with a reverse wired blower.
They're fairly common.
They’re extremely easy to find lmao
Reverse-wired 1000s actually sound fairly normal. Id rather see a Reverse-wired 1000 than a 1000T. But damn that 6M sound angrily mean! Also pretty rare to see a horn defect.
It was dropped during refurb
@@1000BT prove it
@@1000BT probs was tilted during some weather, or maintenance crews did a stupid
@@traintraveler5413 with the creases in the horn, it was *DROPPED* and they tried beating it back into place.
I do believe it is reversed but I think it's probably on level 2 or 3. However, we have found that you can't always fully determine the chopper level unless you get a look at where the wire is sitting on the terminal block in the RCM.
Wow in all my years living in Memphis I finally know what that Thunderbolt sounded like. It's not even 5 mins away from the house I grew up in but I never heard this even in the summertime when I'd stay with my friends that lived on the same road when I was younger. Great job man!
This Sounds Amazing!!! Nice Job!! And Love the Wind down!!
I like The Siren
@@Jimjam475 Same!!
@@TheSirenManiacYT okay.
The entire siren looks reverse wired. It’s spinning in the wrong direction
That's what happens when you switch phases
@@1000BT 👎
wow reverse wired rotate and blower and nice video:)
Tbh the rotator doesn't matter
Listen to the big 6M blower running
I indeed hear it loud and not fairly proud
I live here.
I've been told by a person, Memphis is "The land of the chosen" for siren enthusiasts
I may be late, but, NICE vid.
Another thing to add is that the horn is slightly twisted to the left
The chopper tube is backwards
Now they have to reverse wire the blower again
Why is the horn crooked
Gotta love Memphis.
Me too
this one has kimberling fever.
Horn tilt is definitely kinda odd. I find it cool that it's reverse wired, but it is a safety hazard so they should fix that soon. Nice video, glad you made it to Memphis
Edit: looks like the horn has been dropped or it was impacted with force. Bottom right corner of the horn is a bit tilted and warped
One of Cruz’s new installs also has the same feature but it was a defect from the factory
To me, the 6M sounds scary! This siren just looks creepy in general. Sounds awesome despite being reverse-wired.
Looks and sounds like this one has been stricken by lighting one too many times.
Its never been struck by lightning
How?
@@Glist_ he likely thinks it sounds rather quiet and the paint is inconsistent making the siren look as though it's been damaged by something significant such as a lightning strike.
s t r i c k e n
That horn angle
Looks like it's going: huh?
Nice video!
Something that i just now noticed, is that the whole horn, and chopper are backwards! How? The plug on the back of the chopper tube, is actually on the front as well as the rotator grease port.
That happens sometimes when these are restored, those can sometimes be mounted incorrectly
@@thespiritstingray9359 this was refurbished?
@@United_HVAC_and_Fans yes
Isn’t it obvious
It’s still in bad shape tho
Doesn’t sound bad for having a reverse blower

I like this thunderbolt 1000 siren
Cool
I hope this doesn’t sounds like the one in Armarillo TX
The Screen on the siren looks good. It is a little broken at the top but it isn't very broken It's in good shape.
Sounds like your bolt! Nice
His is a 4M
@@1000BT yes but it is on chopper 7 (this is level 5 though on a reversed 6M)
Very nice video
So if the blower is in reverse does that mean it’s a giant vacuum cleaner?
the Rotator got reversed?
This will be nice alert sound
sounds a lot better then it’s soppose to
Looks like they took the old screen down to Winn Dixie and got a new one made
We have one of them in the downtown area I like the looks of them
Wind down sounds like a fire truck 🚒 siren 🚨
pog horn
❤
It sounds like a sth 10
Are you telling me that this 'bolt sucks in air instead of blowing air out?
Yes
@@thespiritstingray9359 interesting...
the link doesnt work
I fixed it. Sorry about that.
lol the blower is really a sucker on this siren if it’s backwards😅🤣 but fr who was that stupid and didnt do it right. SMH
It oftentimes happens during maintenance or if the motor is replaced or if the siren is re-installed to a different location. Many often think that just because it spins means it's working. The issue will be fixed eventually though, the issue has already been reported
I have a much better map if you’d want to use that one in the description.
I saw one by a cemetery growing up.
That’s actually for when the dead come back to life lol
It sounds like the Riverview MI Thunderbolt
whats with the horn
It's severely tilted. Not sure what the cause of the problem is but it doesn't look too good
They sometimes came this way out of the factory. It’s pretty rare to see one that’s like this and more often than not it’s because the horn was dropped, but I don’t think that’s the case here.
@@SWMOWoodsman now that you bring that up, I can kinda see how the horn is a little deformed at the bottom left part of the horn (when it's pointing away from you). Though doubt they came out of the factory like that
@@thespiritstingray9359 it probably got dropped when refurbished because of the screen is different
wth the tube is backwards
Thanks for finally recording this one! The blower wiring should be corrected sooner or later
I’m planning on going to Memphis to Record the ACA P-50/ASC RM-135 soon
Tell them to check the wiring on the yellow P-50 with the half-horn as well. That's reverse wired too.
The p50 has been fixed as the thunderbolt ha not
@@1000BT Yeah I totally believe that.
@@Glist_ it was there is a video
The horn and chopper cap are on backwards lol
It's just the chopper tube that's backwards
@@thespiritstingray9359 did it come out of the factory like that? Also the horn’s got a tilt.
@@arizonawarningsirens6067 no to both. The horn may have been bent due to an impact of some sort
@@thespiritstingray9359 yeah…
It sounds like a 2001
