Ex-Minneapolis MN on chopper 7. Blower is also running a bit faster than normal. But this thing really sounds beautiful with the blower. Awesome video.
this siren has a 6M blower and is super loud at about 124 DB at 100 FT. the 1003 was also rated for 124 DB at 100 FT. but the 1000 was rated for 126 DB at 100 FT.
I don't like the higher pitched level of the Thunderbolt Siren when it goes way higher than chopper level 4, but neither the less - good to see it in a good shape :)
awesome and quite interesting restored 50s bolt!.. and sounds like chopper level 7 to me.. also.. whats with that little ring under the front of the horn ??
@@matthewwalker8197 that’s because it has a 6M blower. That blower is more powerful, and pumps more air into the siren than your traditional 4M that you see typically everywhere else. The 6M blower is what was used before the 4M came out. It is the original blower that federal made, and thus hard to come by. That’s why it sounds higher pitched.
@xpwindows9895 Vista The next SMA will be a while; I currently have a lot on my plate at college, so I'll have to put it into the back burner for the time being. Don't worry, It'll be great!
Nice video! I really like the sounds of these old 4/5 Port Thunderbolts. Looks like they did a great job refurbishing this one too. Why is there white paint splatters on the top of the horn?
It's kind of cool because the high tone is the same as a 5/6 bolt on the standard level 5. You could say it's at the same pitch with a different interval
Hmmm if its on 5 then it must be reversed wired but its not since it has that very raspy tone to it. But it dosent sound like 5 at all. Sounds like 7 but correct me if im wrong.
Iowan Siren Recordings Wait, so there are two bumble bolts like this in Georgia? I remember there is a 5/6 painted like this in this same county or somewhere around there
The name "bumblebolt" is just a nickname. It was never officially called "bumblebolt" by federal, and all thunderbolts, regardless of paint jobs, are thunderbolts.
I absolutely love this thunderbolt, maybe one of these days i'll drive the 3 hours and 45 minutes up to georgia to film it.
I love how the 5/6 thunderbolts sound like mean ferocious beast and the 4/5 ones sound more nice and considerate.
I love 5/6 thunderbolts more but 4/5s are cool
Still is lookin good glad they did not replace the bolt. Just needs a little cleaning on the horn and the screen. 'Birds'.

How about VHS?

Awesome bumble-Bolt! Love the Federal logo. Even at a higher chopper level, 4/5 ports sound amazing - love that wind-down.
Niiccee! also what is that ring hanging by the bottom of the horn? and man this sucker roars!
@Sirens & Thunderbolts 1003: I don't know.
It's a tie down ring we used to keep the horn from swinging while we transported it down the road. It also holds the lower screen bracket in place.
@@Blue10AEMia oh ok that explains the ring by the horn.
@@TrainsAndSirens1 the ring is just the part place to connect the blower to the rotator vbox
