    I still remember Vaughan saying it is failure of management that ECB decided to part ways with their best player KP ...but Flintoff and Stokes are tough characters too but you don't let them go cause they are genuine all-rounders...but for batsman one can compromise...like Alex Hales present situation...

    • @AR-te4bp
      @AR-te4bp 3 года назад +7

      Absolutely not. There is something called being faithful towards your country, towards the game. And kp just lost his respect and trust from the ecb when he texted his South African pals about how to get Strauss out. ECB is ain't Pakistan where players are still treated as God's even after they have no right to play the game anymore from the miscreants. But talent wise KP is a legend. My fav. He brought it upon himself.

    • @doctorjoy2688

      @@AR-te4bp Vaughan said the entire team was against him because they were jealous that KP got a multimillion dollar IPL contract. (That time Ecb and other english players were against KP choosing to play IPL over country...but now since most English cricketers play the IPL...this stance has completely reversed..that's double standards). And who can work in a toxic work environment? And yes...for KP... England is his place of work...South Africa is his country.

      @Joy Lodh The KP documentary series Sky did (it's on here on their YT channel) and the BBC documentary called the Edge cover KP really well. The bloke was a genius with the bat but also fell out with a lot of the teams he played for.
      For what it's worth I thought the ECB were wrong to drop KP after the textgate stuff but him being dropped in 2015 didn't upset me as much given it was clear around that time that injuries were catching up with KP. I was a Surrey CCC member then and whilst I witnessed some remarkable innings from KP with the bat he noticeably struggled with fielding due to his injuries. Surrey would try to put him in catching positions where he didn't need to move as much but it was still noticeable. Not quite current Chris Gayle fielding levels but still way below his prime and if we're honest Kev wasn't much of a fielder at his best! That's tough to hide at Test level over 5 days.
      An absolute genius no doubt but given how many coaches, teammates and clubs KP fell out with over his career the sole blame can't be with the ECB on that one. There does come a point where the common denominator in these issues is clearly Kev!

    • @doctorjoy2688
      @doctorjoy2688 3 года назад +2

      @@thebaldmanwithlonghair6470 KP was an outrageous talent...he last played for England in 2014... during that point of time his test average was more than Cook, Bell and Root and his t20 average was more than Morgan, Butler and Hales. Now that's what I call an all format player! But yeah It can't be fault of any one side alone and I guess some things are just not meant to be.

    • @dheebansachin
      @dheebansachin 3 года назад +4

      Just bruised bloated ego of Flower mostly. KP did nothing so against the team. He is a bit of a character and just needed a bit of managing. But they made him a scapegoat. Both Hussain and Vaughan said that it was failure of management. Except Strauss, Cook and Prior, all England players hold KP fondly - Broad, Root, Buttler, Bairstow, Stokes, Moeen and many.. KP got on well with youngsters and helped them a lot.

    KP: dude, your hindsight is a little misleading. Being 6'4'' made you a better player of spin because you could reach further to smother the turn. Root is England's best player of spin; at 6'0 he already has to be more nimble. Also, spin bowling is not quite the same as when you were playing. Axar and Ashwin are more evolved with drift, dip, using angles, and variations of speed than Ojha and Harbhajan were. The Aussies discovered that Ashwin is a handful even on their home pitches that don't turn. Plus Axar varies the height of delivery and a round arm action to make some balls skid through. You'll have to change some of the drills to account for more variations than line and length.

      Nothing is fool proof. U have to get out there and practice harder.

    That pitch at the Wankhede Stadium that KP scored his 186 at, played nothing like the pitch England played on in the 2nd test at Chennai. Would have been nice for KP to acknowledge that, even if he did acknowledge that had DRS been is use during his innings or many of his prior innings, he would have been given out LBW far more often. That said, his technique and temperament was way better than anyone in the current England team, with the exception maybe of Root.

    I think India was right not using DRS initially when it came and believe it made the test matches in which India was involved were so much interesting than other matches.

    Pietersen is spot on regarding Left spin bowling. Practicing with rubber balls helps. I don't really know if it is a thing in coaching. This generation team india players aren't great players of spin either.

    Joe Root was the sole fighter in the opposition who had the techniques to deal with sub continent spinning conditions. DRS made it difficult even for him. England team lacked a player like Rishabh Pant to counterattack irrespective of game siruaruon and technique to put the bowlers off. Stokes did it in first test but failed in other games. Rest of the batting was inexperienced. Butler could have done but he departed after 2 games.
