Phendrana Drifts , Torvus Bog Sanctuary Fortress and Pirate homeworld are my personal top four.
Inspired by @HiddenXperia 's Halo level tierlist ♥♥

One of the more fun things in these is that regarding the prime games there's a variation of opinions and values people tend to go through when ranking these areas. I don't think a lot of people would rate Elysia the way you did but at the same time its incredibly valid and it makes sense.
To me that's a sign of how well Retro did in terms of making areas cater to different folks (w/o really destroying the main immersive experience overall, as it does stay consistent).
For me, the list would go:
SS= Temple Grounds / Sanctuary Fortress
S= G.F.S Valhalla / Phendrana Drifts / Phazon Mines / Chozo Ruins / Tallon Overworld / Skytown
A= Agon Wastes / Ing Hive / Sky Temple Grounds / Torvus Bog / Bryyo Cliffside / Pirate Homeworld
B= Magmoor Caverns / Frigate Orpheon / Dark Agon Wastes / Dark Torvus Bog / Great Temple / Bryyo Fire / Bryyo Thorn Jungle / Norion / G.F.S Olympus / Sky Temple
C = Impact Crater / Bryyo Ice (idk where to rate it though as its admittingly doing its job) / Phaaze
I can't rank anything D. They're all solid.
Temple Grounds is actually genius design, like a hubworld brim filled with lore that serves as the core building block interconnecting everything that makes sense about Metroid Prime 2.
Valhalla and Skytown rank high for me for its sheer pinpoint atmosphere (the main reason I play Metroid myself). MP1 areas are all incredble as standalone areas. Sanctuary Fortress is basically that, but in overdrive.
Appreciation of all areas in A-tier came later but the more you find out about them, the better they become.
And the only reason I like Sky Temple above Impact Crater and Phaaze is just because it has none of the bullshit.
I also think the dark version of MP2 are hard to rank in general. Like when playing I mostly consider them as part of the main experience, not so much as seperate areas.
Prime 2 also my favorite ! Torvus bogs' rank was to expect.
Great taste ! lol
It's worth mentioning that both statements are true. Pirate Homeworld is a pirate homeworld, but Space Pirates canonically call any planet they conquer their homeworld (i.e. Zebes, Tallon IV)
So Pirate Homeworld isn't necessarily the birth place of all space pirates, but rather the stronghold of space pirates known in this sector of Federation space. In fact, during development, it wasn't even meant to be called Pirate Homeworld. the working name was Urtragius. In a strange twist of events, that's still the canon name for the planet, because the final game still calls Pirate Homeworld's shreikbats "Urtragian Shreikbats"
@@jonathanwest8415 dude that's so cool, 🔥 fav comment so far thanks for the lore drop
@@ZetroiLP Addendum: I was incorrect, the correct spelling of the planet was "Urtraghus" not "Urtragius"
That being said, let me do myself up one:
The Metroid Prime Trilogy art booklet states that the Pirate Homeworld is "one of the space pirate homeworlds." From here we can infer that the Space Pirates we see throughout Corruption (and Echoes as well) call themselves Urtragians, in a similar manner to Super Metroid's (and Zero Mission's) Space Pirates calling themselves Zebesians. From here, we can speculate that the Space Pirates stationed on Tallon IV during the events of Prime 1 are a branch of Zebesian Space Pirates, considering they merely started research and mining operations there, rather than a full takeover. Though if they had considered it a takeover, maybe they'd call themselves "Tallonites"
This also retroactively explains why we leave the Pirate Homeworld in ruins by the end of Prime 3, only for them to return in Super Metroid (and now Prime 4.) They're different branches of Space Pirates. Maybe the Space Pirate we see in Beyond are yet another new branch of Pirates.
The only hole in this theory is why Ridley would be in the hands of Zebesians in Prime 1, but get turned over to Urtragians in Prime 3. There's a number of ways this could go about being explained, but my personal theory is that Ridley stations himself to whichever branch is dealing with Samus at the moment. He's got a score to settle after several defeats. After all, we see in Metroid Zero Mission that he takes a ship to Zebes only after Samus starts giving the Space Pirates a hard time. Of course they wouldn't have that much history by this time, but it implies that Ridley had somewhere else to be before he was given the word about trouble on Zebes. Perhaps he was helping along the construction of Tallon IV HQ?
Torvus bog theme is just for sure better than Phendrana drifts imo
Personally I love Phaaze and Elysia so I was definitely surprised! I do agree with most of the list other than those choices. Would have been interesting if you had split up Prime 2's sections into light and dark and then Prime 3's planets into separate parts too. That would definitely get complicated tho. Lol!
@@HeroMonsterPS3 hah fair, I kinda wanna do a video on just Elysia to explain my point but farming the background video for it gonna involve a new play through lol
Thanks for the comment !!
Nahhhh for me it will be this:
S. Phaaze, Pirate Homeworld, Phendrana Drifts, Sanctuary Fortress
A. Torvus Bog, Phazon Mines, Frigate Orpheon, Bryyo
B. Elysia, Tallon Overworld, Temple Grounds, Chozo Ruins, Impact Crater
C. Agon Wastes, Norion, G.F.S. Valhalla, Magmoor Caverns
D. G.F.S. Olympus, Crashed Orpheon
Brother was a sailor in a different life, he hates crashed ships LOL
But solid list respect your choices
Elysia in D? Yeaah... I would change agon wastes with elysia. For one, the steampunk aesthetic is a LOT more interesting than the Agon wastes. And Elysia at least did make your traversal more interesting than just walking. I would change Sanctuary Fortress to S, Torvus Bog on B, just cuz that underwater section is meh. Swap Phaaze and Impact Crater. I find that Impact Crater is just soooo short, and the Fission Metroids are so freaking annoying. At least Phaaze was more enjoyable, IMO
Elysia I can barely remember the rooms and its such a slog to move through I love the ziprails, I love the aesthetic but it isnt enough to carry it that said a year later D is way to hard atleast at top C
Sanc has the best room in the trilogy IMO (Main Dynamo ). But its the music and how its just fun to re-enter Torvus is why its so high I stand by that one (underwater is carried by music and I liked the boss/gravity boost was really fun to use)
Phaaze was fun on repeat play through since this video, hard agree impact crater should be swapped
Thanks so much for a thoughtful comment, love this type of discussion genuinely !
13:31 I can tell you've never played Phaaze on the highest difficulty! This area is genuinely brutal in a good way, and the final boss is easily the hardest of the entire trilogy, far above even emperor ing.
Edit: And yet you dare put impact crater above tallon overworld. WHAT. It's a shorter and worse version of Phaaze.
Thank you so much for leaving your thoughts.
I played on hypermode (the difficulty) it's still painfully easy all of Prime 3 is in a way damage and health can't fix (AI needs to be smarter)
Impact crater came first and legitimately was a cool feeling for a final level it stuck the landing for the whole game.
Phaaze felt like a railshooter with too many gimmicks
@@ZetroiLP Sure, most of prime 3 is pretty easy even on hypermode difficulty, but in my opinion a couple bosses(mogenar, gandrayda, omega ridley and dark samus/aurara unit) are significantly harder than anything in the two previous games. And it's no coincidence that for the first three, you can't get away with spamming hypermode all the time, while dark samus/aurora unit functionally gets rid of hypermode by making it permanent.
But I guess different people find different things difficult.
To me impact crater was disappointing. It was just too short. I guess Echoes's sky temple is even shorter, but that one didn't have a whole new aesthetic tricking you into believing there would be a new real area.
Phaaze is beautiful, terrifying and the ''gimmicks'' keep it interesting.
Bro Elysia is an easy S rank for me, you did it very dirty on this video.
I like it, its just too samey should be higher but not S in my heart
@@ZetroiLP Understandable
As a potential sandworld, i hoped Agon wastes to be much more.
Imo much potential wasted here. Also on the music d:(
They coulda used a tunnel like-system like in Maridia where you can sink into other levels.
Imagine this as hidden ways to get to important locations ! Oh man . . . d:(
For metroid prime 4 i hope for just that & that they have in mind how crucial the music part is. I like Ghavoran's theme too.
yee sink holes into tunnels to give it multiple elevations would save it .
Same I'm really hopping for music to be top tier. If prime 4 was Bryyo,Torvus, Phendrana with an Ocean type of area to finish it off it would be perfect
Don't feel that Prime 3 has so many cutscenes, I really enjoyed what it had, is my favorite of the 3, Prime 2 is the worst...
It rarely let you breathe, the Aurora unit always was talking. The cutscenes were fine but had awkward timings, and Prime 2 had the funnest level design out of the 3. Prime 3 could be the best one if it was harder (like enemy AI was smarter, Dark Samus has like 9 different moves but only uses 2) and if the Aurora unit talked way less
@@ZetroiLP idk, I just loved Prime 3 so much compared to the other 2, especially 2 who was annoying with the portals and loading screens...
thats pretty fair, I enjoyed Prime 3 as well it just made me sad that the game felt too easy
@@ZetroiLP I mean, I really enjoyed feeling overpowered for one game in the trilogy :D also made sense, since you are getting closer and closer in power with Dark Samus, even the death animation that plays is Samus becoming Dark Samus because of the Phazon corruption so, in my opinion, makes perfect sense, I just loved the Hypermode :D and I'm not a person who usually likes easy games, I finished many games on the hardest difficulty but for this game it really fit and was really enjoyable for me :)
@@iuliuslovin37 Never thought of that angle thats pretty cool ! tbh I feel like there was a way to be OP but also do more than just shoot ? Like if you got grapple voltage early and could vampire enemies power hypermode sorta thing
